After my regular aquarium shop closed down, I thought I would try out Lots of Fins. My first visit I was having troubles with my tank so was after a water test and some advice. I definitely got what I needed but things felt a little off. I should have stopped at that one visit, so I blame myself for returning several times. Once my tank was back to normal, I returned to get some new goldfish. There was limited stock, but I was advised more stock would be in on the Wednesday and would be available for sale that day. Red flag right there. Anyway, again, blame myself, but I returned on the Thursday and purchased some fish. By Saturday morning one had died. I returned to the aquarium shop to confirm nothing was wrong with my water and everything was spot on. Just one of those things, but was quickly advised that there are no warranties on the fish. Picked up a replacement (who is missing half it's tail - didn't notice that till we got it home!). Sunday night another died. Returned on Monday to get another replacement and was unsurprised at this point to see multiple dead fish in the display tanks. We chose the healthiest looking fish we could find. The staff member accidentally caught two fish and didn't notice until they were both in the bag. She then reached her hand (giant fake nails included!) in the bag and removed the additional fish BY HAND and dropped it back in the tank. I am grateful that the fish I have now seem to be thriving, but I can promise that any further business I have will not be given to these people. Time to find a more professional and caring aquarium shop - and for me to not to ignore all those red flags.

October 2022 From 5 Stars to Zero 5 How times change,, Yes they still have a great range and they have expanded even more, but after a 3 year absence from the Aquarium scene due to health reasons, I decided to go back and arrange for a new Salt Water Aquarium. Which I paid for in full, prior to installation due to the previous history with the store, but then the Customer Service and the Communication basically became very poor to the point after 12 days I cancelled the order with the same person I did the order with, only to be told that they could not authorize the credit only the Owner and this is where they lose points as trying to obtain a legally allowed Credit under the Australian Consumer Law is and has become a nightmare with the store's management insistence that they, HE, will only give a store credit. And they, HE, will even ring you and bully you and basically harass you on the phone by telling you the products are still ready to be installed when ever you are ready.. AS if, i would now have any one from Lots of Fins in my Home or ever recommend them again. So be very careful and ensure, you obtain everything in writing and any invoice is itemized. Also make sure you are aware of the credit policy and the Australia Consumer Law. covering your rights It really should not be this hard to buy an Aquarium, but thanks for making it such a bad experience, that I truly regret ever going back to a store I once could highly recommend , but sadly no more... Hi I have been trying to contact you through Facebook messenger but no response. So ill just leave this here. If I could leave zero stars I would, absolutely discussed. This is the email I sent twice with no response. We recently bought fish of you and spent almost $200 in your shop. The fish we bought were infected with a virus and destroyed our tank we ended up loosing our most favourite fish, we lost over $1000 of fish due to the virus being cotton mouth. Introduced to our main tank from the two little white black and white fish we bought from you. We are extremely disappointed and want to you be aware of our loss as they were our family. We want to be compensated for the loss and would love a response from you. If we do not here from you I will be taking this further. We have receipts of purchase and videos of the fish getting sick. Never have I ever been so distraught from loosing a fish in over 20 years of collecting fish, but the ones we lost we had from the beginning .The time and effort and value we put into our tanks we hope you respond equally Please respond asap Nick and shan

Such beautiful, healthy fish, axolotls, turtles etc and plants. Everything I've bought here is healthy and thriving, which sadly isn't the case with other aquarium shops I've been to in the area. The staff are so helpful and friendly and happy to spend the time answering all of the questions you might have. They have a huge, comprehensive range of supplies too. Our most recent purchase, an axolotl, is the healthiest, chunkiest, most lively axie I've ever seen. The plants we bought are thriving too. Their livestock prices are a bit higher than their competitors, but so worth it for healthy animals. It ends up costing a lot less than buying unhealthy pets that need medications and treatments, and even replacing altogether, not to mention the stress and heartbreak that comes with discovering your new pet is sick. I'll never shop anywhere else again.

Its a local aquarium store, within minutes from home. It's big enough to house everything you need. And the staff are very friendly and experienced. If there is something they don't know, that's a big if, there is always the Internet. Paul is a great guy who would go an extra mile in helping customers make the right choice. And, now they have an in-house coffee shop. Great! Today, 4th July, I went there and noticed an extension to their original store. They extended the store with next door store, and now they are offering better service and more varieties and stock in both rooms by introducing a wide range of colourful Chiclids and aquatic pets. Soon there will be room for additional pets, Lizards, Snakes, Turtles, etc., upstairs where the temperature is higher than the ground floor because of the roof warmth. Give it a try.

Brought 3 marine fish from this place, they weren’t eating and died within a day of putting them into my quarantine tank, white stringy poo etc, Brought this to their attention via Facebook and the issue was barely acknowledged just trying to shift blame off themselves They are also extremely overpriced, tanks, food, fish you name it they have a massive mark up on it!! I wasn’t going to write this review untill I noticed that lots of fins have both disabled Facebook reviews, and seemingly paid someone for fake positive google reviews (almost 4K positive reviews compared to larger competitors with 700ish) - so whilst this review will be a drop in the ocean hopefully it will get upvoted for visibility Go to one of the many other local aquariums that actually care about their fish and customers!!

We were looking to purchase a few fish for our tank yesterday, so I approached this rude lady with long-ish blonde hair, who had the facial expression that she couldn't care less. When I asked her if we could get some help, my suspicions were correct as she replied "I'm already helping someone else" finished what she was doing and walked away. We assumed that she would return to help us. We waited around 20 minutes and decided to walk out of the store as we did not receive any help or assistance. As we were walking out, the rude lady from before was with another staff member just casually talking to another customer, whilst they were paying or paid for their items. Very unprofessional and discourteous.

We are regulars here at lots of fins and couldn’t recommend a more family friendly, honest and trustworthy aquarium to buy your fish or get advice from. We’ve had severe ammonia spikes, black beard and asked a million questions as newbies and these guys have answered them all and supplied us with advice that’s worked. The staff are all absolutely amazing and so welcoming and will give you all their time uninterrupted even when they’re busy. They even have a loyalty program that we have benefited from so many times which helps when starting out with all your gear. You just end up feeling really valued by staff that know what they’re talking about. Thanks guys!

Firstly customer service is great, they can be very informative. They have a wide range of products and fishes available, prices are semi reasonable, slightly highly then other places, and prices have gone up maybe due to things rising or to cover costs of their expansion of the building. The disappointing experience I had was finding out that when buying a fish and that fish doesn't last a long time, say only a few days, they don't offer a credit of the amount you paid for, so keep that in mind when buying a fish, as they have a decent price tag on them.

In the last 9 months I jumped Onto the marine keeping hobby and this was my local store. I continue to visit today, as i am always greeted with wonderful customer service and they have an excellent variety of both fish as well as tank related products. Paul and Caleb always provide me with excellent knowledge on how to take care of my recently set up marine tank and continue to educate me and be incredibly helpful along my reef keeping journey. Highly recommend!!!

The staff are friendly and the care that goes into the set ups and fish is just awe inspiring! The most striking feature for me was seeing how they keep their fighter fish, the fish have so much room in their tanks that you wouldnt normally see in other Aquariums! Being filled with lots of plants aswell! In general they just look happy and healthy! The prices are a bit high but for the care and love that the staff put into the tanks its 100% worth it!

I have seen what these guys did and how the government bullies treated them I believe that the people who run this business acted legally, ethically, morally and courageously. They deserve much thanks and much success. I wish them all the best and I am so grateful that such people exist, because as an ex soldier and Registered Nurse I had pretty much given up hope. Amazing staff, fantastic quality and looking animals and equipment at fair prices ✌ Very well cared for. Literally the only store I've continuously shopped at since beginning my tropical fish tank again (I'm usually there every weekend). "Without naming other stores" I've have been let down with fish dying or misinformation but Lot of Fins have been amazing everything thrives and I have the perfect balance of fish and plants. Beware when buying RO water from these guys. It contains lots of phosphates. Will shop elsewhere in future. Response to lots of fins: Please find attached photo of your RO water reading with a phosphate API tester (was close to 1.0-2.0PPM). I was always wondering why I had so much algae and my corals were struggling at times. I suggest you find the cause of the issue and rectify it then I may be back in the future.

Prices are crazy high and i bought 10 fish labeled as one thing only for them to grow up a different fish! So disappointed :( Also found out Paul is against the LGBTQ+ community and is dragging their name in the dirt on Facebook.. I tolerated the photos of him plastered on all the walls in the shop and the music but I cant support this business anymore knowing he doesn't support equality. Very disappointed.

I've been to the shop numerous times in the past and have found Paul and his staff very knowledgeable and courteous in every aspect of customer service. The environment is very welcoming and the variety of plants, fish and exotic species is a joy to experience. I will be calling back with my partner as soon as we can. An amazing business owned by an amazing man. Honestly how many small business owners in Australia look forward to trading each day in order to serve the needy here and abroad. Pump and filter stopped working, went in expecting to spend a fortune. Girls that work there suggested I might have just made a mistake. They were right. Saved me money. And the bonus was the fish I picked up last time came pregnant so I got 6 for the price of one. Very very honest helpful people!!! Was so impressed I wrote one of these for once.

Used to come here for yrs. Paul the owner was always friendly always good to deal with. Son on the other hand needs to learn some better manners. Thinks he knows it all and when asking about fish that isn't stocked in store he acts like you should already know what's in the country like you're the breeders. Not good business...

Plenty variety in fish, frogs turtles and more, with a great selection of product to care well for them. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is also the option of a snack experience indoors if you wanted to eat something while looking at the fish. Ive been there twice and will definitely go back for my fishy needs.

The unusual huge number of reviews gave me an impression that this was the largest/best aquarium store in Melbourne. It's a great store, things look pristine and healthy, but fish collection is not as extensive as some other stores. Prices are not the cheapest but not as exorbitant as stated by some other reviews

I bought my super cute Oranda Panda Goldfish from here about 2 months ago and I'm very happy with them! They have the highest quality of fish and amazing staff. Paul was extremely helpful and accommodating when I chose my fish! Would definitely come back here and would always recommend it to others!

Not a bad store but their prices are so much higher than their competitors. I’ve found up to 20% higher. They don’t price match other bricks and mortar stores either. For this reason I will no longer bother with them, there is other great stores out there with reasonable pricing.

This place is fantastic with super friendly staff. I just went to visit the cafe there for a coffee and to look around with my 1 year old. So many things on display lots of fish and now reptiles. My son had a great time looking at the wonders of the under water world.

This man is a thorough going gentlemen. Runs a tight ship AND his business is run to fund charity that puts food in the bellies of starving people. A great store and every purchase you make is a donation to a worthy cause. Doesn't get better than that. Win, win, win.

Walked in straight away to see display tanks looking nice but then pretty much walked straight back out. Was very disappointed thought there would of been more of a variety of all the fish but wasn't much at all and the prices were ridiculously high.

First time there was exceptional service but this time not a single person said hi, was there about 20 minutes. Can't really fault them though they were either really short staffed or it was unusually busier for them than usual. I'll still go back :)
