After doing a 'Google search' for Aquarium Fish Shops I found 'Melbourne Tropical Fish'. I was very methodical in my search & comparisons & this business came out well in front with their prices! After comparing all of the prices on my paper chart my Sister, Mum & I decided to make a day of it & drive the 3 hours (one way) to collect our fish rather than have them posted. So very happy with this decision & my purchases - all fish in the shop were healthy, tanks clean & staff were AMAZING. Bagged up with large bags with plenty of air, assisted us back to the car after offering to post the fish that were out of stock currently. FYI - I bought 50 x Neon Tetra & 6 x Otocinclus. Panda Corydoras & Celestial Pearl Danio will be posted. Such a lovely experience .... the fish travelled well & look so fabulous in their new home Hopefully my photos will show in my review

Unfortunately I had a pretty horrible experience here. The staff were friendly nothing against them. But I spent $280 on discus for 5 of the 6 to slowly drop off and die within a few weeks. It wasn’t my water I tested it after every fish died. I also have 6 other discus in my tank ( 600L tank) and they are all fine. I even bought one smaller discus from another shop in between all the ones from melb tropical fish dying and that one’s okay. I’m lucky the sick fish I purchased here didn’t infect my other fish, as of yet anyway. I won’t be back to buy anymore sick discus and waste hundreds of dollars just to be upset. I think they’re quarantine period isn’t long enough for these types of fish. Pics of all dead fish & my tank ( which is fine). Probably wouldn’t buy discus from here unless you only want a temporary pet.

First time checking this shop out and I'm not sure if there still in the process of setting up or if it's just a shambles all the time! Lucky if half the fish are listed on the tanks with prices and most labels are wrong! It's so narrow between isles that you can't bend over to look into bottom tanks and to narrow to pass anyone! The lights kept tripping and I'm not surprised the electrical situation is just plain dangerous. The stock is pretty basic apart from discus and there's a lack of scaping supplies and plants! Overall a really disappointing experience considering I drove 30mins to get here! Hopefully they improve and in a couple months time I'll try it again in case they are still starting up!

I reside in Canberra and ordered Discus to be shipped. While my order was delayed with issues due to timeliness with road freight (totally understandable no one wants their fish to arrive dead). Ravi and Dave were great my order was sent by air and collected the same day. Collection at the airport was super easy, the fish were well packed with heating pads. While l selected small/young discus they are super healthy with great shape. I would have no hesitation in ordering with them again even with delays, as the first concern is the welfare of the fish. Next time l am in Vic l will certainly be making an effort to go to the store for a shopping spree before heading home.

Each tank is well-maintained, and the fish are healthy and thriving. The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their trade. Great place for a big range of fish which they specialise in over equipment, especially discus, never seen so many to choose from, maybe 20 tanks of various species. Owners are friendly and offered good advice. Currently renovating to expand space and range Have specials all the time, only suggestion would be to make sure all staff are aware. Fish we got were all healthy and no issues introducing them to our tanks. Prices for the larger fish species were better than most other places.

Great little shop. The guys there were fantastic and very happy to answer all questions I had. They took a great interest in the fish, shopped in the isles with you and had a wealth of knowledge to share. I walked away with an Angel Fish, a Pearl and Blue Dwarf Gourami to add to my tank for a lot better pricing than you can find at major retailers with a much better experience. This will be my one stop shop from now on, well worth the hours drive to do business with.

Bought aquarium plants and had such a great customer service experience. It was very busy and the owner had some of his friends over, one of which decided to help me with my purchase even though he didn’t work there. He shared his knowledge and gave us advice on what was best to buy. They ended up giving us a ripper deal as we purchased a lot. Thanks so much again. Will be back again and again.

Walked through the door to a smile and a welcome, the guys are super friendly,, very knowledgable about there business, very helpful and there prices are very reasonable as fish keeping can be very expensive, I recommend these guys to everyone who’s interested in fish keeping, I’ll definitely go back again and I’ll definitely tell my friends. They were absolutely wonderful, they were patient with my kids, knowledgeable with answers to our questions and just fantastic to purchase from. Dave is super kind and knowledgeable. Given I m new to the discus fish, he answered all my questions patiently and give me advises which is so helpful for me as a new starter. With Dave’s help, my discus are happy and well settled in my new tank. There are varieties of fishes in the shop and are reasonably priced. Will visit again soon

Dropped into the shop this morning and bought 19 goldfish. Dave was extremely helpful and gave us a discount on some bigger goldfish as he didn't have enough of the smaller advertised ones. All arrived home safely (two hour trip) and are now happy swimming in my pond. Great customer service and extremely helpful.

First discovered these guys last year and can’t speak highly enough of this business. Staff are lovely the selection of discus is awesome. I bought 4 discus for $100 compared to our local pet store who is currently asking $180 pair for the same size/age fish.. highly, highly recommend :)

Open on a Sunday which is a bonus, brought a goldfish which we never seen the colour anywhere else. Price is very cheap compared to other shops, guys were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend for all types of fish, cold, tropical and even axolotl!
