"Great guy! I had problems unscrewing a screw in my car in a really tight space and was looking for a special kind of screw drivers which no one had"
"The other reviews have pretty much summed up this wonderful little shop"
"The nicest, most genuine service ever"
"Like the hardware store my dad used to take me to as a kid! The perfect antidote to the Bunnings megastores"
"Just like the other reviews say, this is the most genuine, friendly and helpful service you will receive in Sydney! Great hardware store, I will always try to find what I need here before I have to look elsewhere"
Great guy! I had problems unscrewing a screw in my car in a really tight space and was looking for a special kind of screw drivers which no one had. Called up Mckenzies because I lived near by and he told me he had just closed but if I would come within 30 minutes he would still be there tidying up. He then presented me with several tools but none seemed to really fit. He then came up with the idea of taking a 50 cent and using it together with a plier and it sounded like it actually could work. Problem was I didn't have a 50 cent but he gave me one and didn't want anything in return.. So this was the first time I went into a store and actually came out richer :)
The other reviews have pretty much summed up this wonderful little shop. It's a through back to the yesteryear of my past, it's not trying to be nostalgic, it just is, what a lovely surprise. The lovely gent that runs it is genuine, friendly and funny. He had exactly what I wanted and it came with decent advice. Take cash, or prepare to have your credit card run through the old school visa machine. Someone mentioned dogs, the one that met me barked, that's all. So glad to have stumbled onto this little reminder of my past. I will certainly recommend and come back.
The nicest, most genuine service ever. I needed help repairing an air mattress and after helping me find the small piece of sandpaper I needed wouldn't charge me for such a little thing. This tourist was very appreciative (the difference between sleeping and not!) and the gesture was appreciated. Obviously a business that cares about its community. Highly recommend.
Like the hardware store my dad used to take me to as a kid! The perfect antidote to the Bunnings megastores. The proprietor is a real gent who know his stuff and is ready with advice and a joke and a smile. Really reasonably priced; but it’s cash only (though with three major banks situated around the corner this is only a minor inconvenience)
Just like the other reviews say, this is the most genuine, friendly and helpful service you will receive in Sydney! Great hardware store, I will always try to find what I need here before I have to look elsewhere. I'm always looking for a reason to visit this wonderful, heart warming shop that reminds me of the good old days.
The gentleman in this shop is simply amazing. He said 'I'd love to take your money, but honestly, just buy some toothpaste to fill it in" he saved me $50 and gave great advice. It worked. I will be going to this shop and always spending my money there. Got to keep this fabulous customer service alive. Thankyou.
I came here two years and still remember my experience at this hardware shop. Had the best conversations with the shop owner. :) I needed to fix my new bike but had no clue what tool I needed and how i can do so, the owner patiently explained to me how and what needs to be done and what tool i need
If your house has a lot of fittings, and the general look of an 80's house, then this is the place for you! Doesn't look like they have restocked since the 80's - not really worth the time, unless you need a washer or some screws - other then that its pretty limited.
I called in at 8pm looking for a last minute tool. He said that he had closed already but to come down anyway and he would stay up. The guy's name is Andy and he is a great guy, very informative and helpful and deserves a mention. Definitely worth the stop.
Proper hardware shop, with a bell over the door and everything. Came away with what I needed, some sound advice and best of all, wonderful service. I'll always come here instead of Bunnings wherever possible. What an unexpectedly lovely shop
Andy was very helpful and friendly, I asked about getting an inflammable container to top up fuel for my empty scooter, and I got a 5 L utility can for $13. It's also very convenient for locals compared to going to Bunnings Alexandria.
These guys dug up an old manual powered drill for me from their stash of items and then told me I would be better off buying a normal drill from somewhere else. Not your typical hardware store but definitely has what you need.
Proper old school hardware store. Needed 4 screws and was able to buy 4 individual screws for a total of $1.20. Great customer journey and great customer service. Shame Bunnings is killing off most of these type of stores.
Good people. I have gone there over the years and despite the state of the store they usually have what I want. And I don't have to suffer the idiots at the chain stores either. Oh, and it's near a pub. And a bus stop.
This shop looks like it is stuck in a time warp. Reckon it looked exactly the same 100 years ago with the same stock. Lovely owner but very limited stock and anything you buy will already be 20 years old !!!!
Lovely, kind and honest gentleman who taught me how to fix the water leak in the bathroom sink. He genuinely enjoys educating people and being of help. Highest recommendation possible. Will be back
Brilliant old school hardware store with super friendly service and items at great prices. The free bag of plums from the tree out the back was an unexpected and wonderful addition!
Very friendly throwback of a place, owners have been there for decades. The kind of place where you can get useful advice rather than the cluelessness you get in chains.
Best service I have ever had from a hardware store, so friendly, helpful and love Andy's sense of humour. You won't be disappointed when visiting Andy & Lorraine.
Came in with no money and a broken motorcycle and he help me out anyways, top bloke please go in there and spend your money and make sure you bring cash!
Old fashioned store with a lovely couple who will dig up what you need to get the job done, and send you on your way with plums from the farm. Lovely
The first time here and the service was fantastic, and they had what I needed. This place will become a local stop for me. Thanks for your help.
This is a great independent local hardware store. The owners are friendly and helpful and also very knowledgeable about renovation needs.
This was my first time visiting this shop, 40 years it has been there for! The owner was lovely. Great service and very helpful advice!
This shop is amazing. In the age of big chains like Bunnings it's great to have it. Thanks for being the local hardware for so long.
This is the old style hardware shop where you receive personal family style help and advice. Nothing but originality and service.
The couple who are running this place are so sweet and nice. The prices are very low, I found it very good in term of price.
Great old fashion service, friendly and informative. Highly recommended. He even gave us some of his organic peaches.
Closed at 12 pm, drove 20 minutes to get there. Very disappointed. Should update the opening time.
Dogs!! Came in and there was no one in but 2 vicious dogs that barked at me. I left empty handed.
If you need hardware, not a gatt, you won't be in the wrong place. Don't ask for McKenzie
Cute little local Harware store. The lady in the shop was really friendly and helpful.
One of the few small neighborhood hardware shops left with wonderful genuine service
Extremely helpful service. The lady at the counter really was helpful. Great prices.
Went there to get some pliers and socket set with additional plums as a bonus!
Friendly helpful staff/owner. Small hardware store good for common items.
You must go to this store! Buy something whilst you are there.
Very interesting store with excellent friendly service!
