Apologise for the length!! - I took 2 pieces of mums jewellery that needed work, they're very special to me. Gold chain needing a new clasp the other a gold platinum diamond ring needed resizing. I should have seen the red flags, however, MC was recommended to me. I left £35.00 cash deposit for the clasp & he said he would call me with a quote on the ring. Roll on 8 days, I called and assistant says he'll call me tmrow. Tomorrow and day after come, i call again, 'Oh, hasn't he called you?' The next day she says he's been really ill, could've told me that in an instant. I get my quote of £150.00 weeks later. I say Ill pick up the jewellery. A week later I still hadn't picked up the items so I call and speak to assistant who says I should speak to Roger and that he is there now. She gets back on the phone, he will call you later. The next day I call& Roger picks up, he tells me he doesnt remember saying he'd call. I understand people get busy and forget things. Each time i called i explained who I was & that Id left a £35.00 deposit. My call was to say I'd changed my mind and to go ahead & resize my ring. He did that pretty fast. I picked up my jewellery and on his receipt copy was written £35.00, £145.00 = £180.00 I tell the assistant Ive paid the £35 already, and I leave. I've got to say both her & Roger were both personable even though I think Roger lacks customer service skills. No doubt my ring looks lovely, but I havent bothered to look at my chain properly yet. 2 days later, I get a flippin text from assistant saying she had spoken to Roger & he said I hadnt paid deposit, so if I'm passing *lists opening hours, please drop in the money!! My response was, if Roger can't keep his books straight, don't put it on me & I am actually a very honest person. To accuse me of being fraudulent had really pissed me off. It spoilt my entire day even more spoilt my whole experience with them. Roger sent me a text saying it was an honest mistake. Did you check 5 x over to make sure I hadn't paid and were yur books in order before you accused me of lying? I took a pic of my part of deposit in case i lost the paper, clearly says deposit! So yes, unfortunately my story has been relayed quite a few times. Pretty expensive for a new clasp, but you know word of mouth and all, I shouldn't have been so lazy.

Big metal crumble fan here. If there is any jewellery adorning my body, it will be from the Stoke Newington institution. The jewellery is high quality, and matched only be the brilliant service, which makes me feel like not just a valued customer, but a dear friend, or even (dare I say it) a family member. But back to the jewellery, it is high quality, stylish, and bespoke — the bracelet I had my eye on was too big for my dainty little girl wrists, and the jeweller was more than happy to remove a link or three and now it sits snugly above my hand, pride of my upper body. “How much does this kind of service cost?”, I hear you ask, goosebumps erect with 925 silver curiosity. This brings me onto perhaps my favourite thing about metal crumble (who have been designing and selling high quality jewellery for over 25 years!). The price. The value for money here is enough to make you weak at the knees (the very knobbly knees if you are anything like me). You can buy high quality chains, earrings and rings all for under thirty great British pounds, and with the cost of living crisis looming, we should all be grateful for institutions like this place. Every pound saved on a pair of silver hoops is another pound that can be spent to cloth, feed and heat your starving, ailing twins. But if you want something a little finer, you can buy stylish, chunky, decorative pieces for little over seventy pounds, and even gold will only set you back one hundred and fifty or so. Very reasonable indeed. I love metal crumble, I have always loved metal crumble. I will always love metal crumble. If there is any jewellery adorning my body, it will be from the Stoke Newington institution

I never ever review everything so for me it has to be really major. I came here two weeks ago with my fiancee to resize her ring. I encountered this bold jeweler. Which was instantly unfriendly. Treated me inferior looked at our ring and started to make comments about how it is badly made all in front of my fiancee and that he "does not want to touch the ring" and gave it back to me. I was speechless which in the end is probably better because i could have forgotten myself in this moment. Embarassed by this jeweler diva. At this point i want to also say that the ring was made by a artisan boutique studio from New York. I called them up after this and they reassured me "that the ring is perfect quality but some people who people have a very narrow mind and only do the standard so every thing that is special scares them". To double check with another independent jeweler and they loved the ring and resize it no problem they even told me about the style which is called hammer finish and the kind of diamond used. I dont know if im old fashion but i expect respect especially when i come in as potential client and even if he shares a different opionion he should still stay respectful and dont treat us like this because for us this ring is special its our engagement ring. Even if it would be a 1$ ring I expect someone to treat me with respect. So I would give -10 stars if i could. I never ever come here again in my life.

Gave them REAL silver anklets to shorten and adjust. collected them today and served by this bald white guy with glasses who had a attitude i told him there should be spare parts of the anklets as this was shorten. The response i got from him there is "nothing in there i didn't adjust them" Not once did he apologised and gave me attitude. I was fuming as they had no idea where the spare parts of my silver is and he did not want to help or resolve the situation not once did he apologised looked at me like i was talking crap And to top it off he was telling my mother behind me about my attitude is. he did not give me his name nor did his colleague. He had right attitude with bad bad customer service very rude and aggressive as he flung a piece of plastic towards me. He was completely unprofessional and disrespectful towards my mother and i. hopefully roger the owner will resolve this matter or refund me. I do not appreciate the way I was treated by the guy Hopefully get an apology from the guy who treated me and my mother in a ill mannered way.

My earring (purchased from there) broke and needed soldering. Because they advertise as a bespoke maker I assumed they could fix it so took it in. The shop assistant rolled her eyes and couldn’t have been less helpful. Without even looking at it she told me it was impossible to fix and when i pointed out it just needed a drop of soldering said ‘it will only break again and we don’t have tools here’ she then helpfully suggested I wear it as a bangle (with the 5 Russian Bangles I also bought from them). I took my n=bangle to my friends Dad who fixed it in 5 mins. I have bought a lot of things from there in the past. I certainly won’t in the future.

No place like it. I have been going to Metal Crumble for years now and am always amazed by their collection. The staff were very helpful, friendly and the jeweller was very knowledgeable of his craft, having worked in the trade for over 30 years now. You don’t see a lot of places like MC around anymore and I think that’s a shame. There is nothing like the personal bespoke service you get here along with the beautiful pieces. Because of their commissions, you get actually get diverse and exciting jewellery for a reasonable price. Thank you Roger and the team :)

I popped into this lovely shop today and picked up some pretty solid gold hoop earrings. I have been looking for earring like this for ages so I am so glad I stumbled across them. I rarely change my earrings and wear them 24/7 so I prefer solid gold as gold doesn’t irritate my ears or tarnish. They were a really good price for solid gold earrings too- I don’t feel I could have found them cheaper outline. Finally the sales lady was great, she was really kind to my 3 yr old son and make the experience really enjoyable. I will definitely be popping by again.

This is the only jewellers worth visiting. Amazing customer care, especially Georgie who is always so welcoming and friendly. I had a great experience with Metal Crumble. I had an important family 14ct white gold signet ring that needed resizing. The original size was much too big for me and they were so helpful in finding the perfect new size. The process of amending this particular ring wasn't easy as it has a detailed crest but Metal Crumble did a completely seamless job. They were great with communication too and very friendly. We’ve had one Men’s 18ct wedding band made to size by Roger and love it - hard to keep it tucked away until the big day! Although it was excellent quality, unfortunately the chain I had purchased online wasn’t what I had hoped for.
