"We ordered a cake for a birthday"
"Always love this store! Awesome sales, friendly, helpful employees and for me, conveniently located right across the street from my home! If I had one complaint about Metro, I would have to say the lack of choices available on certain items at this location"
"Been shopping here since we moved to the area a few months ago"
"Really poor selection of foods"
"The middle aged woman with the brown ponytail was so rude to us"
We ordered a cake for a birthday. They called in the afternoon to say the name on the cake had been spelled incorrectly (the cake was not made in store) and they couldn't reach the contractor. They offered to fix the name but they didn't have the same colour of icing. When we picked up the cake, it really was imperceptible that they had removed the icing and change the name on the cake. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and fresh raspberry filling. The guests thought it was delicious. As a goodwill gesture, the store gave us the cake free of charge. I was also looking for hand sanitizer and though they directed me to the aisle it should have been in, there wasn't any there. The store itself is a smaller Metro. The aisles are a good size, there was a lot of fresh food and a reasonable variety of cleaning products for a micro store. It was well-lit and the floors were clean. There is a small parking lot, and also room to park bicycles. There were also plenty of shopping carts (bring a loonie) and shopping baskets.
Always love this store! Awesome sales, friendly, helpful employees and for me, conveniently located right across the street from my home! If I had one complaint about Metro, I would have to say the lack of choices available on certain items at this location. For example, cereals. I love cereal! Their choice selections for cereals is quite disappointing. But it's just not cereals, it's the same for other items as well. It can be quite frustrating when you need a specific item, only to discover that you can't find it at your favourite grocery store, it's -30°c outside and you now have to walk to that other grocery store up the street to purchase the item you were looking for. Aside from that, I love shopping there!
Been shopping here since we moved to the area a few months ago. It's usually alright, but I've picked up chicken here that turned out rancid at least 5 times....including the last two times I shopped there. Most recently I picked up a pack of chicken that had been packed on the 8th, best before the 11th. Upon opening the package on the 9th, it smelled very strongly of sulfur. Cooked up a little test piece and it tasted sour. That's unacceptable for presumably fresh meat; someone could become very I'll from this. I'm going to go to the Superstore now.
Really poor selection of foods. They're always out of stock of something. This time it was oat milk, chocolate milk, and whipping cream. They don't carry a wide variety of items and normally cheap items are over-priced ($4.99 for a bag of lentils... that's ridiculous). Couldn't even find decaf coffee. The store is horribly laid out which leads to crowding and awkwardly having to squeeze by people. This is especially so nowadays because the cash-out line extends past the cheese, produce, and pasta aisles. I only come here as a last resort.
The middle aged woman with the brown ponytail was so rude to us. In the middle of the transaction she asked "postal code?" with no preamble. We asked why, she said it was to track where everyone lived so they know where customers come from. We said we weren't comfortable sharing that information and she started giving us SO much attitude and how it's "not a big deal" so we should give it over. I was so uncomfortable and will not be coming back here if it means dealing with people like her again.
I'm used to shopping at other stores with price matching. The prices on some were much more than I'd usually pay. I am in a new area and didn't have transportation anywhere else. I saw the "fresh" pizza on the website but, when I got there it looked says old. None of the "fresh" hot and ready food looked very appetizing at 5:40pm. That is dinner time it should have been much fresher. The check out staff were friendly.
Much better than the monster, suburban-style Loblaws Superstore a few blocks away: the staff are friendlier, fellow shoppers aren't as rude and stressed, and a lot of the food is fresher. Prices are about the same. Produce is better than average, but you'll never find great produce, baked goods, or meat at *any* supermarket. Breakfast cereal is usually fresh, while it can be a bit stale at the Superstore.
The smallest of grocery stores in the Westboro/Hintonburg area but this place has the best of everything they sell. The butchery is top notch and in my opinion has the best cuts of meat anywhere! Produce is fresh, bakery is small but well laid out. The cheese section has a surprising selection considering the relative size of the store. Loads of parking available and bus stop is right outside the door.
Just the right size for a grocery store. Not overwhelmingly gigantic like the superstore down the street. Prices are also much better than local competitors with the exception of Food Basics. The store always looks great & is clean. Staff are very helpful and polite. Great selection of quality products. Convenient location. Ample free parking. Lottery at courtesy counter/express lane.
The selection isn't as good as the nearby Superstore, but it's small size makes for much more efficient shopping. They always seem to have everything I need (except for frozen seafood), and their Platinum Grill AAA meats are among the highest quality I've found—second only to Costco, which wins hands down in that category. Also, sadly, they are no longer a 24-hour location.
Convenient location, small enough that you don't news to walk 15 minutes to find what you need. The produce section is a hit and miss though. I've picked up a bag of rotting apples once. I guess the staff of the overnight shift are dozy and not paying attention (which I'd be too if I was working night shifts). The staff has gotten friendlier over the last two years.
It's decent for its size. The bakery is what I'm used to from a Metro; pretty good pastries and whatnot. I do feel however that this Metro's close proximity to Superstore does render it as a secondary option. Not a bad place to stop in though. Also features better quality produce than my own nearby Metro which was a nice surprise.
Would be 0 stars if possible. I have never left a review but Sherry who checked us out was possibly the rudest person I have ever come across. 0 Customer service and also genuinely mean and condescending. I was shocked and definitely won’t be coming back solely based on the behaviour of our cashier.
This is a pretty small grocery store but it feels nice and homely. They have everything nice clean and orderly. Only thing is there seems to be some issues with the cashiers. One time the cashier refused to touch their own meat products. Another time it was an issue with flowers and got flustered.
This metro has an amazing shelf and its just very well layed out and stocked super well. At the meal deli is and actual butcher which is also great. Friendly staff as well as very clean and covid friendly. Only thing is that parking sucks, but that's customers; like how they park is just awful.
Rude cashier made our visit unpleasant. We stop regularly at Metro in Aylmer and have me at been spoken to rudely norms treated respectfully. The cashier even commented behind our back while we were walking away after leaving her cash area. She was on cash # 1 1-8 items. Terrible to be so rude.
Bit of a smaller grocery store so you may not find everything you would in a typically sized grocery store. Also, slightly counter-intuitive as the layout seems almost opposite of what you would find the layout to be in a typical store. Still well organized and usually stocked up.
Maybe not quite as cheap as other places, or as big, but I like it. Helps that its only about 3 blocks from me, I guess. I shop the specials, and can get in and out quickly. Plus, if I miss an item, it's not a 5 minute walk back to the correct aisle. Good butcher counter too.
So SHERRY 231 was kinda rude today. I inquired about an item if it was in stock and she gave me no answer or a happy face and straight out asked me how I wanted to pay.. She is very unhappy there. Second time with her. We need self checknout so I don't make any feel bad...
This grim little grocery is a hold-over from the olden days: super small & super pricey. Shelves are usually half empty and the disinterested staff only add to the believe that you should be shopping elsewhere. The bright & friendly Superstore is just a few blocks away.
Went today to pick up some prime rib roast and the butcher was kind enough to cut me a couple of larger ones, very friendly and polite. Then was greeted by the cashiers and chatted a little. My new Metro store. Thanks again for the great service and top quality meat.
Omg...first time there and will definitely be the last time there...very unfriendly/ rude staff...no eye contact by two cashiers as well as being loudly told to get in line after asking a very simple question. Won't be going back there ever....yikes. …
I go here frequently as it's the only grocery store within walking distance. The staff are nice and helpful, however the store isn't well organized (the aisle order doesn't really make sense) and they're missing certain items you may expect them to have.
An employee in the produce section had a filthy mask on, and was not covering their nose with it. I reported it on my way out of the store, and it sounded like they knew exactly who I was talking about. Very disappointed and considerably grossed out.
Small neighborhood grocery store with essentials that you need. The stuff here are always very friendly. We should have more walkable places like this where anyone can walk 5 or 10 mins to get what they need instead of driving to giant parking lots.
Used the app called "Too good to go" and went to pick up our surprise bag for fruit salad. We were very disappointed. Surprise bag costed us $7.90 including tax and this is what we got from Metro ($11 worth of fruit salad). This is a scam.
Worst grocery store I have visited in a long shot. Every time I have visited shelves have low stock, some of the worst herb and spice selection around. Last time I was in was a 630 pm on a Tuesday and no boneless chicken breast available.
I went to this grocery store and spent 15 dollars on pasta and 3 soft drinks. I paid with a 50 dollar bill. The cashier gave me change for a 20 and when I corrected her that I had given her a 50 (which were the only type of bills I had in
They were sold out of the advertised sale item. I came specifically for that so I wish I had experienced something else to give them more stars. If you're gonna have an item on sale and advertise it, try to make sure you have it in stock.
Since the pandemic, I have bought more basic foods from Metro than from a big-box store nearby. I am impressed with the hard work done by their staff to try reduce the risk of COVID-19 to their customers. You can see them constantly
It'll do in a pinch, that's the only reason I stopped in. Prices are way higher than anywhere else, the store is very tiny and the selection is terrible. My cashier was extremely friendly, otherwise, this would be a one-star review.
I always enjoy shopping here. The staff are really great. The place is clean. Excellent service in all areas. Cheerful employees. Great selection. Knowledgable staff. They even have donations for the food bank. ❤️ …
Hands-down the best grocery store in area. You can run in to grab milk, veggies + cleaning items without having to walk a small marathon - unlike the superstore down the road.... Plus prices are good and produce is fresh.
A really good store for quality and essentials. It is open all the time which is very convenient. Because of the size it does not have as much selection and probably because of the extended hours prices are a bit higher.
This Metro need self checkouts. There's one line up that looks like it was used for covid but covid is over. Can we be realistic and remove this, takes way too long to check out when you are buying one or two items.
The recent renovation has spruced up this small grocery store. Still not the best selection due to its size but it has all of the staples and more. A great place to get in and out of quickly for small grocery trips.
This place is on the small side but have lots to offer, the stuff they do have is very fresh and the other is they have good brands, I was expecting to pay 300+ in meats but with the sales 150.. I'm HAPPY. Thanks.
Quick service at checkout, diligent sanitizing of carts and greeting of customers, very few customers and reasonable prices. Some really good deals. All told, a very happy, safe and pleasant shopping experience
The staff are all super friendly. The only reason for less stars is the deli dept won't let you call in an order for picking up pizza. "One customer ruined it for everyone" after months of ordering every week.
A small store but they have a surprisingly large selection of produce, meats, and household items. Decent prices too. Good for when you just want to grab groceries without walking for moles and dodging crowds.
Quality meat selection, with good selections of general groceries. Young but excellent staff that's always there to help. Shopping is best when are on sale, but otherwise this is a 5 star grocery imho …
Monday June 10 th around 12 noon ordered some cold cuts from Deli counter and noticed the girl with the spots on her face did not even use gloves to handle the meat. She did not wash and used her bare hands!
Everything you need in a small footprint makes shopping easy! Reasonable prices, reasonable quality, good service. It certainly beats walking over a kilometer to get milk in one of those big box stores!
Very nice smaller store. Accessible, free parking, fantastic customer service. Due to size, it's a bit hard to navigate with a stroller, but worth the trip. Good selection and range of products.
Small location with parking, selection not as big as larger stores, but produce is the freshest out of all the other metro locations in the city, good news if you're a vegetarian …
Always bright and clean. And they have the best sales! Friendly staff who are so accommodating and always go above and beyond to help you out! Lovely smiles on the checkout ladies too!
Overpriced and the meat I have bought here has been rotten many times, not sure if that's why it's a special I don't mean expiring soon I mean advertised specials. Happened many times.
This is a friendly neighborhood grocer. The staff are very helpful. The baked goods are always fresh. The meats are always fresh and butchered the same day. The prices are reasonable.
Be careful when shopping here! There is an employee, an older man, who doesn't wear a mask when he stocks the shelves. He just keeps the mask below his chin. He should be fired.
Really good store. Excellent selection of foodstufs and produce. Items are well displayed. Maybe not as much stuff as the super stores but you are in and out in half the time.
If you like bait and switch you'll love this store! As others have mentioned, this Metro goes above and beyond to ensure you do not receive the (flyer) advertised sale price.
Nice renovations but prices are very high. Produce not the best. Meat is better than other grocery stores around but do not match Costco. No bilingual service at all.
Just have a hard time looking up. Uncle Ben's stuffing helper for turkeys so I found a big small crampy not very big in there but I was satisfied with the service
Overpriced comparing to the super store that is located few minutes from metro (on the same street). Update #2 It’s the third time that I buy expired groceries.
This is a great little grocery store that takes a fraction of the time to shop at compared to the big ones. Only complaint is that all the produce is packaged.
Small but convenient grocery store. Staff is not friendly and often make me feel unwelcome even if I try making small talk to get them to smile more
I'm glad they are getting real beef on the shelves this USDA shoe leather is a real turn-off. Also, a bonus when the Canadian beef goes on sale.
This store is very clean and spacious. Laid out well and lots of grocery items. Staff is friendly too. A great store I should try to frequent.
My last visit to this Metro was last Friday. Never again. On Friday I and about two dozen people were dutifully lined up in a single line,
Really nice store. Very well stocked, not too big. Prices are not the best, but I'd rather go there for a few items than a bigger store.
Great fish selection and quality. Smaller store so not as many specialty items. Gets very busy in late afternoon and on weekends.
This is a small Metro, so they don't have room to stock as much as the larger Vanier store or humungous Lincoln Fields location.
The store is very small, dim, and I didn't find what I wanted, a bag of basmatti rice. I had to buy two very small bags.
Never try picking a chick up in the vegetable section. They look at you funny. Save your best lines for the meat section
Great place for fresh rabbit food. Even bought a Lotto. , Did not win though, except with the tasty cherries.
Terrible experience. Do not shop here, staff are rude, unfriendly and generally unhappy to serve customers
Metro better then 4 rating Ecellent staff well. Presented service great. Produce. Fresh Overall. Excellent
We have Golf Logics Golf Club Repair Centre just up the street from the Metro on Wellington Street West.
Good general grocery store, staff are very pleasant in my local store, butchery staff very helpful too.
Not a bad store but does not have everything the normal metro would have not a fresh bakery with cakes
Great curtious staff. Very clean and organized store . Small but useful easyer to find things quickly.
Good prices.....All depends on the flyer....When there beef tenderloin is on sale, it's always good
Jessica is so nice. She a great worker. I enjoy seeing her, cause I know she be nice to me.
The selections are fresh, staff are very friendly and helpful. The butcher shop is awesome.
Great customer experience at this branch. The staff were nice, helpful, and professional.
Extremely small and over priced. Go somewhere else where your money is better spent
They are ok and they try to package for the single household.
Nice little Metro store. Friendly staff. Good selection.
Nice bobo epicerie for small groceries.
