Edit: Now that the pandemic is over they seem to have updated their return policy as we were able to return a spoiled item with no hassle (I really want to stop shopping here but it's right across the street which comes in handy sometimes). Edit: We've purchased grassfed beef several times from here and it turned out to be spoiled. In the past it could be returned so it was worth the risk, but now they have a zero returns policy and you're basically stuck with your spoiled meat. In-store Management says they haven't been informed of any process to reimburse customers in this situation, and won't reimburse once you've left the store with the purchase. Customer Care replied to my email inquiry that it's up to the store to decide about reimbursing you. I'm just no longer buying meat here (meat I get from Farm Boy and Loblaws never spoils, just Metro for some reason). Nice to have close for incidental shops but the produce always spoils way faster than the produce we get from Farm Boy or the farmers market. And the organic red potatoes are always green inside.
If I could pu a zero I would. It isn't my style to take the time to leave a review, but what happened this week is a disgrace and is dangerous and need to be public. I have purchased fresh salmon for dinner that was wrapped the same day. When I opened the packages and smelled the fish I almost vomited. Both packages were rotten. It is a disgrace and it could have killed someone. I brought the fish back and told the manager because people's health matters. The manager didn't say a word no apologies, no mention he would go to the bottom of it, nothing. He didn't seem surprised an refunded me the fish. It's not the first time this happened to me shopping there. I've have bought rotten bacon on sale there, rotten fruits and vegetables, the spinach are rotten even if the date on the box says otherwise. There is always rotten milk and dairy and bread in their respective aisles. I do not trust the dates on the package anymore because they lie to customers. I am outraged and will stop shopping there.
Very fresh seafood, fresh flowers and plants. Occasionally supervalue packs of meat. Staff at the cashier were much more polite than the whole last year. Appreciate the well training of customer service. Charles, the guy at the fish department, always provided the best service in terms of sharing how to cook the various produces at his department the one of the best was the homey seasoned salmon and tilapia with vegetables and cheese were marinated by him. However, he wasn't there any more since April or May last year. This department without Charles's enthusiasm to serve customers was different. The store is always clean. Rotten produces and expired items are rarely found on the shelves.
This metro has generally been very good for me. It's close to where I live, the staff are quite friendly. However, I had a recent experience that has completely soured my feelings about this store. I was in the meat section looking at ground meats, and noticed that one of the packages was a few days expired. I picked it up, and brought it to the nearest meat department employee. When I told him about it, he looked at me, looked at the package, and didn't say a word to me while continuing on with his business. Needless to say, if this is the attitude they have toward expired meat, I'm just going to head somewhere else, despite the slight inconvenience.
Went in today, have not been for awhile because I moved. Loved Beechwood Metro. But your store went downhill even my sister was a regular customer but change because of your poor service. I ask for maple leaf round sausage I’m meat department the guy couldn’t help me. Then went to bakery the lady didn’t understand my English or French ask about the mini chocolate cookies didn’t have any ideas what I was talking about. Then went to dairy and didn’t have the fairlife 2% milk ask one of the guy and replied not on the shelf so none in the back. This place is going downhill your managers in each department should know ehas going on
Very disappointing. Bought a bag of oranges and realised 3 of the 8 were rotten and went back a day later. Was told no refunds during Covid! Produce manager asked if I drove around with them in the cold weather and that oranges often go bad after a day (I did not take the oranges on a city tour and no, oranges don't go had after a day). So Metro is allowed to sell rotten food and take no responsibility because there is a pandemic? Was also told I should have checked each orange - I told him I did not as during a pandemic, we are not supposed to be touching everything. Should have called the health department....
If i could put zero stars I would. Worst metro in the district right next to the elmvale metro . I used to work here they have mice in the back and they chew through the bread and they still put it on the shelves. Luke monfils is the absolute worst store manager and everyone has been waiting for him to retire for years. He lets his managers bully their employees and tries to put fear into everyone instead of actually being a good employer. Their meat is disgusting. The chicken is always rancid smells like rotting flesh and the lobsters eat each other because the workers don’t feed them.
When speakers announced out loud that it's closing time, employees shouldn't be walking around customers trying to kick them out. Within 5mns I had 3 different employees coming to me with a "this store belongs to me"attitude trying to get out. I got the last one so good that I don't think he will be asking anyone to leave at least in a short While. Once the store is close people already inside should be allowed 10 to 15 mns to continue shopping and gathering their staff to get to the cashier without having employees who otherwise wouldn't helpwhelp breathe down around their necks
This is my local metro. But I also visit the one on st.laurent quite often and this metro is my favourite of any grocery store in the area. It has the best fresh and specialty departments. The deli and meals to go departments are one of the largest around with a full carrousel for whole chickens and other pack out. Their selection of fresh cheese's is also remarkable. They have cheese and cracker plates ready to go. The entire store is wonderful and easy to navigate. They always have enough cashier's on hand to keep the lines down.
I like shopping there as in my neighborhood. Wish more produce prepared for single dwellers. Also what bugs me most is procedures for large returnable water bottles. I must get in line for customer service counter-cash and like yesterday wait several minutes. Get return-cash and then wade back through line to get my already acquired shopping cart and then do my regular shopping. When returning to cash with groceries, I then tell an 'always pleasant' cashier I need also a full bottle of water. I get same from rack for cashier.
Such a quick downside for Metro. Fruits and vegetables are in poor shape with poor maintenance. The meat department is generally looking like a mess (not in the right sections, always missing products) which harms their sales. Everything “fresh” is always incredibly close to expiry. As an ex-meat department worker for a different chain, most of what I see in this meat department would be entirely unacceptable to a store manager. I see a lot being let slide across the board.
I must have gone in at a bad time. I was looking for a 2L carton of milk and they only had 5 remaining that expire next week. They didn't have any 1L milk at a reasonable price so I went shopping for other items. In this store you need to bring your own bags to which I keep forgetting the bring. I normally only order what I can carry anyways but I definitely got some strange looks after paying at the machines when I'm walking out of the store with loose items in hand.
I really want to like this store as the prices have been decent lately, the produce is fresh and the meat is good. However, there is often a strong fish smell as soon as you come in, and today, as I walked by the fish/meat counter, I was assaulted by the strongest rancid meat smell it made me just walk away. Ended up buying a frozen pizza and I honestly have no appetite for it. I would like to think this is a one off, but the strong fish smell is often deterring.
Got pizza but they don't let you order by phone like they do at beechwood. Also the staff never know the prices. I called ahead to confirm the price and when I get there they tell me it's different. Then they check with someone else and realize I was correct. Happened again recently. I order the 10.99 special and they tell me it's only after 3pm but I check the sign on the counter and it says "available all day". And the staff realizes that's correct.
Most of this store is okay but for some reason when I go to the deli part of the store the men behind the counter are rude make you wait to be served and last time I was there I ordered a pizza from them and the guy said he was filling his deli counter first before serving me. If I could I would give minus stars for the deli because always get served by the same 2 men that in my opinion shouldn't be there or fired.
Very bad service today (11 December 2018 at 19:45 hours) I bought some grocery including a bear paw box from sale rack price mentioned was C$1.99 but the cashier charged C$3.99, I inquired about it after waiting 5 minutes manager comes to me and said its price is C$3.99, its totally their fault even then they don’t feel embarrassed, I feel the manager was not capable to perform, better to call her for explanation.
I only shop at Metro because of the customer service. Here is an example of the staff they employ. The cashier I went to this morning noticed I was in pain from terrible back pain, without hesitation she came around and placed all my groceries on the turnstile, then called someone to bring my bags to the car. The young man who brought my bags to the car refused a tip saying it was his pleasure to help me out.
With the exception of their cuts of meet, staff very friendly and accommodating. The everyday needs can be met and good variety. Lots of items are priced lower than Loblaws however Giant Tiger, Food Basics and Fresh Co are less expensive, they will on occasion if you ask price match with Walmart but why Walmart when they dupe you into low price then raise it when you get complacent on price in my opinion.
I live 5 minutes from metro. Omg. Well 1they need to remove the wall in the meat department. They guys who work there are NAAASTY. No wonder the meat is bad. They smoke and the meat smells like it!!! Nasty. I have witnessed on more than one occasion where customers have returned the meat and fish. I have returned items because the food is bad. When returned they don't care. I now go elsewhere.
One of Most Expensive deli meat, is cut thinner than paper, making it imposible to pick up a slice without ripping it, only comon sense to ask customer what thickness he wants, NOOOOOOO, to complicated to satisfy customer. Another problem, is debit machines at cahiers, are so old, the numbers are worn out, checking, saving button worn out, owner most be cheap, to ignore this ongoing problem
As I walked into the place it reeked of expired seafood. They keep live breathing feeling animals there in tiny cramped compartments for patrons to buy, torture and kill and they have a major lack of plant based options, aside from fruits and veggies. Lots of cruelty full food, like dairy, meat and egg products though. I will go out of my way to avoid this place from now on if possible.
Didn't know there is membership with a rewarding thing going on, shopped there for 3months straight never Heard of it untill I use these selfservice machines...but overall, it has what u'd expect, fresh and really good products.price a little high but for what you get, totally worth it. Now... they go super crazy on salesgot my favorite céréales for 1$ last week(was 3,99).
Cashier was nice but the person I asked to help me was quite rude and didn’t know what I was talking my about (veggie burgers) so I decided to go to another store. Also on my way out a worker standing at the door took the cart right out of my hand before I could take my stuff out and had to quickly gather my items, as I was going to give it to the person cleaning the carts.
There are grocery stores and then there is Metro! For all of you subway fans, this is the ultimate subway ride through aisles packed high and low with the most practical foods possible! Sure, other grocery chains may stock similar items, but there is only one Metro! All stations on this subway line lead to a happy, full tummy!
1 star for their prepared meals sections. I ordered some potato wedges and it felt like I was biting into rocks! They were stone cold and so hard. Their roasted chicken was also overly sweet for some reason? This has happened on multiple occasions with their hot food section. Loblaws’ prepared meals are much more pleasant.
Worst metro ever. Empty shelves, prices are always wrong. When you ask anything it seems you are bothering them . With the exception of maybe 2 employees. Only 1 or two at most cashiers most of the time and one is Express . At 5 o clock after work when you go in there you settle for what they have instead of what you want.
Today only 2 cashiers were helping people. The lines were over 10 people long. The manager was standing around watching and talking with another employee. The cashier was rude to the customers. Even went as far as tell one "hello I'm coming through" bumping into him with the red baskets. Terrible tone and absolutely awful
More expensive than the giant Loblaws down the street but very friendly service. I once showed up to do some shopping with my two toddler girls. As I approached the line ups with one of them on my shoulders the staff saw I was by myself with the kids and the lines were long... they opened another cash and waved me over!
Your average grocery store, they had an extra large pepperoni pizza special on for 8.99, decided to drop by ther toilet paper section... they're sold out like everywhere else. Their fruits are really fresh n worth the little extra. The organics are pricey like all other places, we only buy when there's a sale.
Wow! If you wanna see a cashier with purple hair or 12 piercings come here for your groceries. All dead beats and the ceiling is leaking in almost every isle. Meat section looks like it hasn't seen a decent cut of beef in 10 years. Go to farm boy or loblaws or wait for this place to get renovated 3 times
Some of the prices at Metro are a tad high but they have a great bakery, a nice meat department and a well stocked produce area. Price for coffee cream is often ridiculously high. I find that if I shop the three areas outlined above I'm fine while the interior isles may not be bargain centres.
It is unfortunate that this is our closest grocery store because it is NOT one of my favourites. Prices seem higher than the competition and the store is smaller than average. Generally, I only go there for the specials or for emergencies when I can't be bothered to go farther afield.
I've been forced to use self checkout with no alternative many times. Poor service. Even when pregnant and was having difficulty on my own they would not open a cash. They have at least 5 cashes and never seem to open more than 1 if lucky... even when a line forms. Very frustrating.
The usual staff is very focused especially past 5pm and I appreciate that. Very friendly service, Very friendly, unless its a new worker with a millenial mean mug. Everytime I go, prices are decent. I go for Meats and Water. Prices could use a curve flattening.
Went in to use the bathroom and there was a large glob of dry human feces smeared onto the toilet bowl and seat. The worked I tried to tell spoke neither English or French as a first language, so he didn't understand and was unable to do anything about it.
New no return policy. Consistently selling rotten meat. This roast still had 5 days left before expiry. Usually they would take back bad meat, but this time they gave me a 1 800 number and told me to take my stinky meat with me. I wont be going back.
This is not our usual grocery but we do stop here on our way home sometimes. It is the usual Metro prices and layout. The reason for the low rating is that the back of the store near the meat counter always stinks with a nauseating stench.
Good produce, nice prepared foods, friendly staff. Parking decent. The pizza is oven fired ans delish. Order one, do a little shopping for drinks, sides, dessert, and come back to pick it up hot and fresh. A perfectly timed meal pickup!
I like Metro for the meat. They often make specials on the cuts you like. Even for their vegetables, they often make specials. I also like their homemade sandwiches for parties..good price and tray is packed. Staff is very pleasant.
I take my 5 star given to them while ago back. I had a fall there at 20:15 on August 23, 2018 and nobody has called me yet. They do not care about the people. The person who took my phone number on a piece of paper was rude.
The staff was friendmy but too chat when the line-up is long. The biggest disappointment with this store is price. It is very expensive. Everything I looked at was significantly more expensive then any other grocery store
Great area to buy groceries, deli is very nice and helpful. The meat department has such great suggestions when it comes to cooking steaks, or a good marinade. Nice staff and nice atmosphere too. Love coming here
Clean, ok selection of fruit and vegetables, usual large market, nice staff, meat department lacks luster, butcher shop will cut to order, bright and cheery atmosphere, good selection of fish and the usual items.
Standard grocery store experience, nothing stood out as above the satisfactory level including service. Personally, I would like to see them offer more organic and natural food choices than they currently offer.
Good location with reasonably good produce, and selection of food items. The store is not huge so it offers a moderate size meat selection including fresh seafood, but I find the quality of the meat quite good.
Worst metro ever, the managers bully their employees, and especially the store manager monfils, he has no respect for others whatsoever, absolutely atrocious. The meat always smells really bad too.
Usually not a fan of Metro, however this is the grocery store in walking distance. Surprisingly one of the best Metro's I've been in. Better selection than most and good fresh produce and meat
The people working here - cashier especially - are always very effecient and friendly. Meat selection is superior. It would give it a 5 star review but the produce freshness isn't consistent.
Staff very helpful , pleasant and obliging. As I was new to the stores deli / hot foods department the staff were great got me served and out quickly and happily. Well maintained premises.
This is my neighborhood grocery store. Lots of choices in fresh food and staples for the pantry. The wait at the cash is reasonable and there are self-service cash registers available.
Whats the point of wearing a hair net behind the deli counter to prevent your hair from falling into the food your preparing if your hair is just hanging out of the hair net anyways ??
Prices are high but selection of meat is well priced and the cuts are great for my family. Plenty of items available when they have sales. Irresistible products (their brand) are good.
Adequate parking available. Good checkout experience for self check out or store store staff assisted. Prices are marginally competitive. My children enjoyed some free selected fruits
Small but decent selection of hot ready made foods. Sausages are expensive though. And getting in and out of the parking lot is challenging with so many islands and one ways streets.
Bright, clean and well-stocked, with friendly staff. The only knock against our local metro is that, like other stores in the chain, it is more expensive than other nearby options.
I like this store, I always do my Mom's groceries there for her. It is clean and well stocked with everything you need. I like the meat dept there, plus they have a lottery kiosk.
Always a deal to be found , good for collecting Air miles and getting free food. Service is friendly and they want you to tell them if you see something not right. …
It was late in the day before Thanksgiving, and Métro had BBQ chicken left. I bought one. It was delicious, juicy, and soft biting . I will certainly buy again. …
I love this metro. It is clean, has fresh veggies and fruit. The store is well stocked and you move through the cash quickly. Staff are polite and well versed on the store
Pretty good grocery store, good selection of products. They could improve the checkout times though. Often there are few cashiers and there's no automated option to do it.
Easy to get to by bus or car. Free parking, large lot. Clean, quality of fruits and vegetables are very high. Friendly workers and very helpful. Good management.
It's one of the older metros the freshly renovated ones are so much nicer. Beachwood Metro just did an large retrofit so it's on ok cause the bar has been raised
The store is not very big they have a wide variety of items. Their produce is always fresh and they have reasonable prices. The staff is always super nice.
A reasoneable variety of all kinds of produce here. Their butcher staff is accomodating as they cut soup bones I was buying into smaller ones for my dogs.
Kinda expensive. If you have a family you should go to no frills in Orleans or food basics if you have transportation. Metro is kinda upper middle class.
Convenient location and friendly workers. A bit more expensive, but if you live close, the gas savings and no stressful driving make it worth the walk.
This particular Metro is very spacious, has friendly staff, and a good selection of products. It is my favourite location to shop at, given a choice.
Great balance of size and selection. Don't expect to shop there within 45 minutes of closing though - they start to pack away food very early.
Today wasn't a good day to grocery shop. People are big time hoarding. There was no bread or flour. Lots of empty shelves. Very disappointing.
Clean and organized, shelves were stocked except the ready made to go foods not to much to choose from. Prices are on the higher end also
So clean, best produce section I have ever seen. So fresh, inviting and the only place I buy grapes consistently. Pricey but so good …
Nice little grocery store with a wide variety of items. A little on the expensive side but also has great specials if you look for them.
Have a variety of groceries stuff and their in-store-made fruits and salads are exceptional. It's a good place to do your groceries.
This is my best groceries store I mean thai have all cinds of jus, meat and fruits i love it i go there every day, thank you so much.
I enjoy shopping here great location and food is fresh, the deli could be a little faster with service, overall great place to shop.
It has gotten better with the selections of spices and other items but the deli counter are slow and never cut the meat properly.
I like Metro for their selection of lunch meet. And, they are at a good location by bus. Hop on the 7 and your there in no time.
Staff are always friendly. Management is always kind enough to help out the local community with Girl Guides, Scouts or Cadets.
Good produce. Pretty good prices. Never too busy. Friendly staff. They pack your groceries for you. Great local grocery store.
Typical Metro. Focus on good selection at a local community orientation perspective. Bakery and fresh food selection is good
There have been times I've purchased items and noticed they were a fraction of the price elsewhere. The inflation us insane
I like their produce section. Lot of varieties. The place is pretty clean. Staffs are very helpful. Best part is, no crowd.
Great value meals to go .... fast and friendly service. Clean . Prices just little high but ot has a great atmosphere......
The only store that carries my favorite lasagna. It's called Zesty Italian Sausage. Nice spices and a little kick to it. P
A good Metro with plenty of inventory and a large selection. A huge store so it's rarely extra busy except for the cashes
It was great, the place was clean, the staff was polite. I also found spicy dill pickle chips. These chips are very good.
Well I can say this a little pricey but definite quality also great stuff friendly polite thanks for your service.....
Well stocked. Not too busy. No paper bags when I went in. Forgot my reusable bags. Cost me to buy more reusable bags.
They got rid of thier plastic bags and shrunk thier reusable ones to squeeze more money out of struggling families
Not too busy. Well stalked and no delays getting in or out. Two workers at entrance monitoring social distancing.
Great grocery store. Prices are good and produce is generally fresh. It’s a lot better than the Loblaw nearby.
$14.99 for a watermelon, Metro is way over priced. People should boycott Metro for a couple of months.
Very clear store and the food is of great quality. The bakery is excellent and a big variety of items.
It's a well laid out grocery store. Very rarely super busy but more continuously busy. Clean & open :)
Well kept up grocery store. Small but well stocked. Staff of courteous and friendly. Prices are fair.
Great deals and price was right. Even bought stuff that I wasn't expecting too. Great staff as well
The product quality is getting worse and the prices keep going up, just like most of the stores.
No complaints here. Staff are great. Food is priced averagely compared to other grocery stores.
Sketchy baked goods department. Prepackaged baked goods got munched on but staff did not notice
Amazing staff and a very decent place to shop for veggies, fruits, and other perishable items.
