I don't often shop at Metro. I find it's very expensive in comparison to Wal-Mart, Food Basics and Loblaws. I find Metro doesn't have as wide of selection as other stores do. I look at flyers and check prices online before I shop for groceries, so I always go to anywhere between one and four different stores depending on sales and product availability. I know what I need, what the best prices are for savings and food quality and I don't really change my shopping habits unless there's a reason for me to. Nothing against Metro at all. The few times I have gone to a Metro store, the staff are so kind and helpful, the store seems to always be clean, products easy to find and their fruits and vegetables are better quality when compared to other stores.

Really disappointed with how their staff treated my 70 year old mother. She went to buy bags of soil and asked for asistence, they sent a young man to help her loud her car. He first gets her to park the car precariously on the crosswalk, then while loading the bags of soil my mom noticed a bag was completely torn open. She asked him not to put that bag in the car because it would dump out everywhere to which he replied "I'm not doing this" and walked away. During the whole interaction it was clear he didn't want to help her. I understand it's hard working entry level jobs, but i think it goes without saying that most of us are willing to help the less able bodied people especially when we are getting paid to do so.

My son and I were in the self check-out but could not figure out how to scan fruit/vegetables as there were no codes so decided to go over to the normal check-out. As we were waiting in line to put our items through a cashier, a clerk started yelling at us across the store and about 20 people in various lines stared at us. She then proceeded to come over and ordered me to come over with her and she then proceeded to yell at me some more in front of about another 10 people in the self check-out area. I indicated to her that it was a mistake on our part and she huffed and turned her back on me as she cancelled the order. It was a humiliating experience and we will not be returning to this Metro.

Clean. Sparsely staffed. One or two actual cashiers working. They work hard and deal with a lot of complaints of having to use self check out. Self check out doesn't save me any money. Self check out is a hassle when alcohol is purchased. Self check out is a pain when you are trying to purchase items that include free items such as soy sauce and chop sticks or salad dressing with a salad. Give me a discount for using self check out or pay your staff. Explain why butter is $6.29/lb for the Natasha's butter that used to be $1.99/lb every other week. The few people who are still employed there, are wonderful.

Cashier would not ask a manager to assist in scanning a wine bottle. She said there is a sign that says she can’t scan beer and wine. The sign was hidden under grocery bags at the opposite end of counter. She informed me of this after I placed all of my items down on the belt. I asked her to get someone to assist her and she said no then recommended I collect my things and go to self checkout. Why have a cashier present that can’t do her job? Why not have senior cashiers present to assist? Poor policy and bad service. I left the bottle and won’t shop at this store again.

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I went to Metro yesterday. I was looking for small chicken. I asked the person from meat department if they have this. He replied "I don't know what it is" and ignored me and continued his work. Instead of asking me and try to understand what I was looking for he just ignored me without offering any further help. I have been in Independent, Farm Boy and other stores they are very nice and helpful. Perhaps management are not doing their work to train staff how to provide proper customer service. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I had the opportunity of meeting Ash from this location. My apologies if I mistaken his name. He was looking after the self checkout machines on Christmas Eve! Great job sanitizing and helping customers out. His customer service went over and beyond in my opinion and it was so very nice to see someone go out of their way during the busiest time of the year and with the ongoing pandemic. Can get whatever your looking for. Was there on a Sunday night and wanted some deli meat. Was 2 meat slicers, one was clean and the other filthy. Worker refused to use the clean one when I asked, I refused the deli-meat. If their not going to do it, why keep that section open. Just turn off the lights there and move the staff elsewhere? Or maybe clean the equipment? I shouldn't be so hard on those teenagers, but they are handling food and that's no child's play! Management needs to be there Sunday nights.

Poor costumer service A lady called corina treat us very bad she was rude and hatefull person. i ask her can i get biger bag and she said i dont know what u talking about and also refuse to help me at some of the items wich i can’t find self chek out system. Finnaly we have to go back to the counter. I ask for store manager I could not find the store manager. I’ve talked to the supervisor she was not helpfull. What a bad experience !!!

Sometimes good and sometimes bad service, and rude employees. A few times decided not to buy at this store anymore. But it has some decent selection of merchandise. Update: I was trying to shop on like and I got the message that the owner of teh store banned me. For what? Trying to sign in with my email and password and do some shopping? I think from now on I will go to a different store if you don't want my business

Horrible service. They normally only one 1 cashier on duty forcing everyone to go to self checkout. We had a full cart so had to wait 20 minutes in line when it wasn't at all busy. To make it worse, they have young staff just standing around talking and laughing, yet fully witnessing the long line of people waiting for the one cashier. Not going to waste time going there again. Farm boy is far superior

I shop here. I've been a regular...but please...Hot Food Service case? Im tired of coming in at various times of the day to blackened dried out time'd out items that are sun tanning away under the hot bulbs. Remove sooner....make a ready made meal for the Chicken table display and cook a new batch. Your sales will increase and customers get a fresh choice. But...you don't have to take my word for it.

I have been going to this location for past 6 years and lately couple of cashiers in particular are very reluctant to give a bit of change for even a $5 bill. ‘It’s not allowed’. Their exact words. Whereas other cashiers are happy to give coins in change. No one is asking for $1000 in coins. They need to have staff who are atleast respectful and courteous with customers.It’s not that hard..

I was very impressed with the service at this location. The gentleman at the front entrance letting people in while wiping down carts, was very kind and in great spirits for the situation at hand. He asked a few of the standard screening questions and sent me in my way. When leaving I noticed I had forgotten something and he kindly allowed me to leave my stuff and run back in. Thank you ☺️

Employees were helpful in finding an item. Store was very clean and organized. Checkout was cumbersome. Cashier's no longer bag, which is okay. But, it would be helpful if they pushed your items down after ringing them through. It's hard for a senior to have to reach in for the items that are still in front of the cashier leaning over the end of the counter.

the cashier supervisor “they” seems like to make up rules on the spot. The other day, I tried to purchase $1000 home depot gift card for my dad, and “they” refused me and only sold $500, while my friend can load few thousands on his gift cards. I wonder If my race was attributed to fraudsters? It was very uncomfortable the way “they” looked at me.

Apparently out of province ID is not considered as a government issued ID to buy wine ! Clearly the employees and the manager did not understand the concept when completing their smart serve ! Hopefully someone from the head office can explain to them the definition of a government ID …

Ordered a birthday cake here for my daughter & got a call from the Bakery to pick it up in the middle of the 2 day power outage, even though the store was closed. Really appreciate their commitment to customers. Downgraded my 5 star review to 4 as the quality has gone down recently..

Its too expensive, they have a lot selection however i have compared bills and the difference was major. Im talking about 80 to 90 dollar difference and thats a lot. Aside from the price difference. They did have all the grocery needed items which is why im giving them 2 stars.

Hard working workers, polite, friendly. Clean! Lots of pretty ready to make meals and cut veggies for stirfries. Very gluten free friendly. Carries unbun. Cons: Prices are steep. In the cheese section they have these little smile you're on camera signs which I found unpleasant.

Metro barrhaven is by far the best grocery store in the area. Excellent produce section. Always fresh. Wonderful staff too. Everyone is knowledgeable and ready to help. The store is organized and clean. Their promotions are great. Even ordering online for pickup is great.

This review is for the lady at the bakery. I have been getting themed (Cars in 2023, Trains in 2022) cupcake clusters from this location, because she does an amazing job every time. Everyone loves the decor of the cake and the cupcake cluster concept is just amazing.

I do the majority of the family grocery shopping at Metro. The manager is very hands on and she is quite often just walking through the store chatting with the customers. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have good prices and sales on relevant products.

Rude and Disrespectful Customer service, the lady was yelling at us. The other crew told us she is like that. But still first time went there. I want to give zero rating but I guess no option. I used to shop from Farm Boy they are the best at their service.

Great grocery store. The staff at the self checkout was very diligent with wiping everything down between customers. The gentleman at the deli counter was fantastic, he showed me a slice to make sure it was what I was looking for before slicing the rest.

Very nicely stocked. Great building design with lots of special. We were greeted by a security guard at the entrance making sure we used the hand sanitizer provided at the entrance. They do not offer sanitizer at the exit though.

Smaller grocery store. Very convenient as it is not too far from home if we need a few items. If you watch the flyer you can get some good deals. Staff is friendly and up to snuff on covid protocols as far as I have seen.

Rarely do I see all items from the flyer in stock. Even if you go there first thing in the morning on the first day of sale, they're "all sold out". 30 eggs cartons, 4L milk etc. It's always a bait and switch with them.

This Metro is my favourite grocery store in Ottawa. There is a lot of selection (including gluten-free options), the staff are nice, and the store is clean. The prices are a little high, but not unreasonable.

I just bought a mixed salad box yesterday for 6.97 (of course I threw out the receipt). I just went to make a salad, 24 hours later, and the leaves are slimy, sitting in brown liquid, ROTTEN! Disgusting!

Poor customer service by staff. They don't give sufficient efforts to help customers, especially if you are a visible minority. Management needs to change to make it a better place for everyone.

Good produce, gluten-free foods are available in the frozen section of the bakery as well as in one of the aisles. Lots of cool grocery items pop up from time to time.

The meat section is always pretty bare. Went two weekends in a row for ground pork and they did not have any and could not make it because of the lack of pork.
