I have enjoyed visiting this temple many times. I find the building and surrounding gardens to be very peaceful and full of beauty . Since I doubt act "Heidi: is Buddhist, She doesn't understand the basics of gardening in the Chines fashion. ..trimming trees or shrubs to be a certain shape may seem a little extreme...but in the end all looks good as it fills into form. Don't criticize what your clueless about. remember that these people who are Monks may not speak english very well and may feel awkward. Being a Monk doesn't mean you have to chit chat with everyone who happens to come by...I see many smiles from everyone I meet there...
Chinese......brand......many deities statuary occupy temple reception area, sacred space is serene......Stand outside on Madison St. at DUSK and hear monks chant......entrance to temple formal, stone, w/ large bronze lions, huge bronze incense burner, garden for monks off to left.......please ask before using garden? ......would be mindful? This place is epitome of Buddhist Temple architecture.......Played my guitar on steps many times in the few years when I lived close by......very peaceful, very serene.
Serendipitous discovery of such an authentic and grand Chinese Buddhist temple. It was like being in Taiwan. Their ceremonies, chanting and meditation are true to the ancient Chinese Mahayana lineage and heart felt. Large collection of complimentary books on Buddhism in English and Chinese. Monastics and members are sincere and welcoming. I was invited to join their delicious vegetarian buffet lunch after the ceremonies. Felt immediately immersed in compassionate warmth and serenity. Metta!
Miao Fa is a great place for anyone looking for a taste of Eastern culture, tranquility and contemplation. Come see the beautiful sculptures, grab a free book or spend some time the the Koi fish in the garden. The residents are very welcoming and leave your experience for you to make of it what you will. Even if you know nothing of Buddhist culture or philosophy, I guarantee that you will find something worthwhile in your visit.
The temple is beautiful inside. I'm not religious. But have been going at least once a year for the past 13 years, to take in the beauty and peace there. Every one is kind and welcoming without trying to push anything on you. But if you have questions there is always some there to answer them. I would highly recommend stopping by if you're curious. You could never guess how beautiful it is from the outside.
Lovely Taiwanese Buddist temple with beautiful garden ( with small pond and koi fish) near Downtown. They often have free vegan meal every Saturday around 11am - 12am. After that, there is 1 hour meditation session and 1 hour Dharma teaching with Q&A. In addition, they have many buddist teaching books by English, Chinese and Thai. The Monks are very friendly and helpful
Prayers for everyone all over the world. Pray for beautiful day's to come with Sooooooo Much love and Peace all over the world for are children. ⚽️. And for true love to find me. …
I have not been there during mass yet but this place is beautiful and well decorated. I met some nice people who handed me some books which they had plenty to go around. I just wish they had mass on other days because they have it on Saturday and not Sunday like I prefer.
Awesome people and the temple is beautiful. The meditation class is fabulous and informational. Stop by and join us for a free vegan lunch every saturday.
As someone who is Buddhist and has been for quite a while, I can't recommend going here enough it's one of the most peaceful places I've ever been
I joined there Saturday morning Mandarin Mantra ceremony and vegetarian lunch. The temple is beautiful and the people are wonderful. I'll be back.
What a cool place I took some friends here during a visit to Portland. The volunteer was awesome he gave us a fun tour of the place.
A beautiful temple, maintained and cared for by some of the most sweet & courteous monks I have ever had the pleasure of meeting....
I sought refuge and you shunned me. That was twice now. Please tell the sweet sister that her anger harmed me greatly.
Beautiful Temple with intelligent monks who dont try to push you but are willing to help you on your path.
I am going back and bringing my friends. The monk named Chen was amazing and taught me so many things.
