We have recently moved to Calgary and trust me this Library thing is the best thing happened to us so far They made my library card in less than 3 minutes, there was a guy at the desk who was very welcoming and helpful. He made my card and welcome me to library. It was closing time so we came back and visited the library the next day and to my surprise this time there was a lady at the desk who was way more kind, nice, helpful and loving. She gave my kids a guided tour to kids section and not only that she had some reading time with my 6 years old It was incredible experience and the library is really nice. I only got a chance to visit the kids section which was really nice, neat and clean. A small carpeted area for toddlers to play with. There are bunch of programs for ur kids to get enrolled in We loved our experience visiting this library I would like to give them 10 stars instead of 5 And yes you can eat in the library too ✅
This library is disgusting. There was fecal matter smeared all over the tiles in the bathroom, and it reeked of it. There are also many drunk and abusive patrons inside and outside the library. While I was inside today, staff called security as a man was stealing a library chromebook, not to mention patrons yelling, and swearing expletives. If you want to take your kids to a public library, do not take them here. This place is a disgrace to libraries, and the Shaganappi Library which it replaced. Go to Giuffre Family or Signal Hill instead. They're much safer, cleaner, and you won't find any abusive customers.
I was waiting for the computer to print something for more than 30 minutes. There is no computer or chromebook available as they were all taken. There was this one person who was watching a movie on youtube on the computer and also he rented a chromebook which he was not using. The staff here are also not responsible as they saw this guy watch the movie on youtube but didnot say anything to this guy. I do not get the point of me waiting here to print something important from the public library computer whereas the other person is just enjoying by watching some nonsense videos on the public computer
I haven't been to a library in over 20 years pretty much since my junior high days. When Nicholls Family Library opened up I wanted to check it out. This place is pretty awesome. It's modern but small and the selection is limited but in this day in age we have smart phones to order whatever book we want and then come pick it up. The one thing that truly stands out is the staff. They are nothing but AMAZING! the ladies here are so nice, friendly and helpful it's always a pleasure to come here to do work when I want to get out of the house.
This is a great addition to the neighborhood! I love that the library is so close (in the same building) as the train, this means that I can drop books off and pick them up on my way home. I love that we can order the books we are interested in online and then they are ready and waiting for us when we come! I love Calgary Public Libraries! I sometimes have a split-shift at work and just come to the library and read or get a few jobs done, it seems like there are enough chairs and places to work.
So much to love! I don't own a printer, so monthly printing of $5 is awesome. Love the organization of books. Easy to browse fiction. Fun to watch families play for a minute on the way upstairs. Perfectly located returns location. My neighbourhood is Strathcona & I do a weekly local veggie pickup from #YYCgrowers at the top of the stairs from the #Ctrain platform. So easy to do a book pick up &/or browse at the same time.
Good library with many amenities. It's a great place to put a hold on books, but I discourage people from looking for a book at this library, the selection is incredibly low. The staff is great, and it's a wonderful place for studying. I had hoped the coffee shop would have done well, but it hasn't so it is no more:(. Starbucks is located in Westbrook mall though, in case you want a little treat to have while studying.
My girlfriend and I both attend MRU and work full time, so we came here to do a little bit of studying and relax in between classes. I was taking a little nap while my girlfriend was studying and this rude lady decided to come up to us and loudly tells us that we have to be awake or leave the library. Excuse me, I have my books and laptop out, just taking a short nap. She was very rude and treated us like dead weights.
Relatively small but very cozy family library in SW Calgary. It occupies 2 floors with the ground floor housing the children and toddlers section while the upper floor is for adults. The view is breathtakingly beautiful with its all glass external walls. Ample parking space behind the library just in front of the Walmart store.
Nice atmosphere, however, the book selection is far too small to be called a library. There were more empty shelves than full ones and the selection available is quite limited. It seems more like a cafe for people who want to read or study rather than socialize.
Excellent selection of books and activities. Only issue is with not so good people hanging around the facility . They have a security guard that helps with clearing out stragglers.
Lots of amenities, such as colour printers, computers, and study spaces. Not a large selection of books, but very convient as it's located right above Westbrook C-Train station.
Nicholas Family library has very good access to C-Train. The kids area is so small with limited toys. It's a calm place and all library facilities are available.
Very limited computers. Bathrooms were clean but smelled like smoke and had constant line up. Staff were nice.
There was not enough computers nor printers. However, the staff were pleasant and it was not overly crowded.
Hand sanitizer is the closest smelling thing to a dead body, otherwise a lovely little library :)
This company hired temporary staff and never paid their invoices. Do not support this company!!!!
great place, nice instead of offices for bigwigs they put a library for the people. :)
Friendly staff, well organized library, comfortable seating area!
