If my business was as unhelpful and disinterested in customer service as this place, I'd might as well live off the dole and surf! Because that's clearly what the "staff" at NST would prefer to be doing. The amateurish spreadsheet pricelist is full of unhelpful abbreviations...which wouldn't be so bad if their stock shelves were labelled in the same way. In fact, the racks have NO labels at all, so you can't even relate what you're looking at to a code on the sheet and find the corresponding price. Unless you're framing up houses every day with the same treated pine and you know which rack to get it from, and don't need customer service to find what you're after, I'd suggest you shop around for another supplier....anywhere.
As a business owner I would be distressed if my sales staff were as disinterested as these fellows. They were like teenagers concentrating on there computer terminals. It was obvious they had no interest in their customers. I interrupted one guy and was pointed in the direction of the shelving I needed. Nothing suitable within cooee. Guys still on the computer so I walked out. One older gentleman kindly offered help but apologised as he was not part of the 'sales staff' ('lack of sales staff'). No wonder Bunnings are so successful their staff actually seem to be interested in helping customers.
Went in to buy some timber today and was served by the rudest unhelpful prick of a guy, I wanted 5 x 5.4m lengths of DAR 90mm pine and required 2 saw cuts so I could get the 1.8m lengths in my car. No we don't cut look at the sign, I said but you have a docking saw - Yes but we will only do 1 cut in half. Thanks mate I've spent thousands of dollars here over the last 20 years building my house and now I'm partially disabled and you can clearly see that but still won't extend yourself to do 1 extra cut. Shame on you and with that level of service you shouldn't be in business!
This is an unfriendly and unhelpful place. The stock is surprisingly limited. If you are lucky enough to find what you need, then be warned: It's the only timber yard that won't cut AT ALL ( refer to the large signs at the front desk). If you're north, I strongly recommend that you drive past it and head up to Mitre 10 at Forestville - always brilliantly helpful - or drive onto the Mona Vale timber yards. If you're more central, then try heading for the inner west . The Crescent Timberyard and Swadlings are both magnificent.
Today s service attitude is very poor, even scold me because of my poor English employees, leading to communication has a problem, and waste his twenty minutes, after I call the past to my staff, and let the other side to answer the phone, he instead of an apology, and even scold me go in, this kind of service attitude, really let a person cannot accept, absolutely won't go shopping in here again next time
HORRIBLE!! Not helpful at all! I talked to the least helpful young guy I've ever met! So thick! Website boasts 'supplies to the general public and keeps a comprehensive range of construction timbers' This 'kid' tried to tell me they only had 2 types of timber and he couldn't even be bothered to get up from leaning back off the back counter! Absolute joke and waste of my time!!
Very bad experience. I went there to chop a log and a young guy was very keen to help. While saw cutting another older person came, took the log and throw it away without even looking: "we don't do this here". That was all. You expect people working with clients to have a minimum of good manners. Definetely they are not going to see me there anymore.
These guys make Bunnings employees seem like rocket scientists. Why do you even exist when your prices and customer service are worse than Bunnings. (IMO) Don’t bother coming here for home projects. Just go across the road to Bunnings.
Very good service by young chap. He took the time to go over the details of what I needed. Ordered customised skirting as well as picking other timbers. Was the first time I had been there so was impressed.
They've got a bit range of timber with excellent service and happy workers full stop so help me load the car and select the right timber. And the quality of the timber was much better than Bunnings
best place hands down to buy timber for builders and carpenters i call ahead and the sales staff pick my order, strap together and load it on my truck when i arrive. in and out. highly recommend
Bought a huge load of plywood here. They gave me a good price and loaded it up for me with no fuss. As a carpenter I have never had a bad experience at any Nst stores. Cheers
Great place to buy timber for my projects. The staff are 100 percent. Here is a few pictures from timber I bought from North Shore McBride Carpentry com au
They will probably have what you need but don't expect a lot of help if your not experienced with timber.
Was a great experience, came in and they helped me out with everything I needed.
Great store! Really friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommended
The lads at NST are so helpful to me and the team. Thanks so much
If you get the right guy they're all helpful
Great help, also great timber.
Disrespect staff.....
