I've been here a few times now to visit their aquatics section. The section is clean, plant selection is good, although the always have dead neons in the plant tank. Fish quality on the other hand is lacking. As an experienced fish keeper, with many cycled, established tanks running. Each purchase of any fish from this location have had deaths. I drip acclimate all my fish and net properly prior to being put into the tank. I bought fish yesterday and have already had 2 deaths. First time I shopped here, out of the 11 fish I purchased, 10 dead. I learned later From an employee that they had an issue with their Rummy order. I should of tested the bag water to see what their tank parameters are (mine are 0/0/5 in heavily planted tanks). Their return policy on their fish isnt worth it if I need to keep going back for new fish. I'll take the loss as a lesson and stick to the other Petland locations around the city. Its unfortunate because their tanks look beautiful and they have a nice selection. If you keep fish like I do, and pride yourself on their health and well being, this location isn't worth the time.

Being a Canadian franchise, I really wanted to like and support this store. I’ve been to two locations and I found the fish department to be lacking. I kept coming back for various items and never found what I needed. My last visit I went in for some neon tetras — simple trip, simple fish. It took a while to find someone to help. I am a well-versed aquarium keeper with an established tank of community fish. When I did find someone, the employee asked about the size of my aquarium and the type of fish I had — legitimate questions. I answered, and mentioned that this particular tank had been established for over a year. But he then asked if I had a filter, heater, and other basic items. I was pretty insulted, as it seemed condescending considering I had just said that I have an established tank of tropical community fish. Of course I have a filter and a heater. I was surprised that he didn’t ask if I also had water in the tank. That will be my last visit to Petland. I’m staying with Big Al’s Aquarium Supplies, as they treat me with respect and I’ve never had an issue there.

By far the worst customer service on the PLANET. Manager complexly ignorant and RUDE. DM well who knows if there is one as I was suppose to receive a call and didn't. Placed a special ORDER for cat foot in September after trying a new kind as the employee suggested. immediately went back and said that my cat does not like it. Placed the special order in September called at the end of September and they "lost" the order. I then explained the type of food I needed and was assured the order was placed. Call back 3 weeks later, they say call back the next day. I go into the store the next day and the manager completely RUDE tells me someone called me and left a message. NO ONE CALLED, would I have been at the store if they called. Manager is BEYOND RUDE. I will continue to drive to the old location and ensure I NEVER SPEND A DIME at this store.

My daughter and I went to this location and not to buy anything just mainly to walk around see the animals and pass time. I want to say every single animal enclosure from birds mice cats and reptiles and amphibians they were all very well cleaned taken care of and even there snakes were healthy good temp and humidity levels. The manager that accompanied us with holding the snakes and ferrets he was amazing. New his job but most importantly loved what he was doing and new ever animal in an out. You could also see the animals responses to him when he brought them. Out. I would highly recommend purchinging your next family member from this location. Not to often you can find a manager of a petland who gives a damn about his work like this guy did. . Im sorry I can't recall his name . Possibly Mike. But don't quote on that.

Me and my wife went here couple times as we adopted our first dog (Blue). We needed help and an employee name Vicky came and helped us with everything we wanted for our dog. He helped by providing us knowledge about everything that we needed with pet toys, treats, leash, collar, harness, play pen, cleaning supplies and puppy food. We had a great service and most importantly, Blue loves everything we got for her. By far, I think it will be our go-to place for Pet shopping. P.S: Also, I think few staff need more product knowledge as one employee didn’t know what we were asking the other day or didn’t know the product that good. But could be because he was new, who knows.

We arrived to this particular Petland location at 6pm needing some emergency supplies for an injured baby bird. The guy with the shaved head refused to allow us entry even upon explanation of our situation. My 6 year old son was devastated that this man would not help us help save the baby bird we had found. Regardless of my son’s tears, the douche in his safari suit didn’t care and we left empty handed. The bird did not survive and now I am planning its funeral with my heartbroken 6yo. 5 mins in the store to grab mealworms may not have made a difference to the bird but would have at least given my son the comfort knowing that he tried his best to save said bird.

I had two great experiences at this location. All of the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable! I bought a pet stroller and one of the staff members help me set it up, also purchased fish and I had all my questions and more answered. I feel so welcomed Everytime I’ve come to this store. The store is always stocked up, the staff are quite friendly and personable. I really enjoy shopping here! Even times when I’ve called the store they have been nothing but helpful and polite. Customer service goes a long way especially when it comes to our fur children because we also want the best advice too. Thank you guys, please keep up the good work!

I got a hamster from this store, they told me that the hamsters were just babies and healthy. When I brought him home I set him up a very nice inclosure. Two weeks later he passed away, with no signs of sickness. We brought him to the animal hospital and they told us that a lot of hamsters bought there die quickly no matter how well you care for them and he was a lot older than they said he was. They offered another hamster to replace the one I bought for free but I will never again buy any animal from this store, knowing that so many animals bought from there get sick and pass away.

I came to Petland last week, and was greeted by Aidyn. She helped me navigate having an anxious new kitty at home. She helped me pick out everything from toys, to a bed, to food and litter. She listened to all my concerns and helped me pick out the perfect toys and food to help Ferdinand (my special boy) settle into his new fur-ever home. Needless to say she stuck with me for almost 45 minutes, and was the most helpful employee I have ever met at Petland. Give that girl a raise, she is amazing. Ferdinand has never been happier. Terrible service. I went in the store last week with my 5 year old to decide on buying her fish or a budgie for her first pet. She was so excited to look at the animals to choose. We were in the store for for at least a half an hour and NOT one of the 3 sales people approached us and offered any help. Not even a hello as one stood right next to us in the fish section. I decided we weren’t purchasing anything that day which really disappointed my daughter. We are going to a local pet store today to buy her a bird instead of Petland

I was waiting patiently for an associate to finish with a customer, no problem. What I had a problem with was the associate was well aware I was waiting, there was only myself and the customer he was helping there. His friends came in and then as soon as he finished with the first customer he proceeded to go to them and talk to them. I waited thinking maybe they were customers as well, they were not. After waiting for the better part of 10 minutes another associate finally came to help me. Sorry to say I won't be back.

I have been a customer ever since this store opened.. always trusted the staff and honestly was never let down until recently by Olivia, the store manager, who clearly does not have an idea, how to treat customers wth respect. Petland is such an amazing company with wonderful stuff. Its time they invest in managers that have a little more experience. she does not know company policies and made my experience so stressful. The funny thing is other staff was apologising to me for her rude behaviour.

Nicely organized pet store. Some of their prices are a little high - which I don’t mind as it is Canadian owned and operated. They usually price match no problem (I’ve only ever done this when the price is more that $5 higher). If the manager with the blonde hair is in, don’t bother. She will make you feel like you are hassling them and then even once they confirm the price difference, she will tell you “they usually don’t do this” even though the items are the exact same.

I had really bad customer service. I went in to get a couple little guppies. I was in the store for 30 minutes waiting for help and 2 workers wouldn’t even acknowledge me. Then finally got told he wouldnt sell me the fish because my tank wasn’t currently set up… One girl took our her phone and opened Snapchat to take pictures of turtles instead of asking if I needed help….. don’t recommend this location at all… save your time and energy and go to the Windermere location.

Great people always very knowledgeable about products for both my bunny and my cat!!! Been going here for 4 years and everytime i go elsewhere its always a terrible experience and not good products like Petland. Also thier silica litter in purple is wonderful!!! Not completely dust free but still way better than normal litter. And they also know they're shipment days of Thier products so if they don't have it left in stock they can let you know when it will be

I took my farm dog to petland yesterday and Shelly and the other staff there that day made her feel so welcomed and loved! She fell in love with all the kind staff that provided excellent recommendations and service. Though it took my pup a few extra minutes to warm up to everyone the staff reminded constant and upbeat so when my girl came around she left the store much more confident and the dog I know! :) 1000% coming back with my dogs!

Wonderful shop for pets,the facility is very clean and the pets look healthy and happy.I have been very happy with the service,staff were very kind, courteous and knowledgeable . Especially Natalie was extremely helpful and caring. She knew a lot about the fish I bought and was very thorough in explaining everything needed to take care of the pet fish.It was a great experience. Merry Christmas to all.

My daughter brought me to this new store, as I needed supplies for my pets. Since the first visit to the store, all the staff have been Fantastic! I found the staff to be knowledgeable and provided great service. I met the Manager and she was outstanding and provided me with great service too. Overall it’s a very clean store with great staff, who are always happy to help! Job well done!

Terrible service. We bought all our kitten and canned food at Petland. To safe us time from going back and forward we buy it by box. I when in there last weekend to return 5 cans because the cats are almost 1 and don't like food anymore. They told me there policy is 30 day and we bought it in Apr. For all the money I spend there they couldn't help me. I will never deal with them again.

One star because I can't give less. Service was slow and prices are outrageous. They asked if we were members and said it was free to join but didn't bother to tell us it would affect the price of our purchases. Even what is apparently the so-called member price is more than we pay anywhere else. Very unimpressed and we will NEVER be back!!!

I went in to find my cats some new food as the stuff I bought on Amazon wasn’t cutting it. A girl working there helped me with picking a food for them to match their needs and I have to say spot on. Not even a day and my cats started being more active. Clearly knew what she was doing and I wanna say thankyou so much! See you guys next time!

I am giving one star because there is only one employee there that knows what she is doing. That's the manager Olivia. the rest are I'll experienced and do not know the product lines. In particular, the assistant manager has zero experience with customer service and resolution skills. Never will I ever go back to this store!

There may be a staff shortage as you find yourself looking for a person to help and its hard to find them. The store is organized very well so very often you do not need help in finding items but more in regards to opinions and advice. Once you find someone they are very knowledgeable and will provide you expert advice.

I've been here 3 times now. Not the friendliest bunch.. not once has someone smiled at me or other customers. If you're a member, you get the price you'd get anywhere else.. if not, you're paying about $3 more for everything. Not the best selectio either. I'll be shopping elsewhere, even if it means drivinf further.

I mostly buy mealworms and superworms here for my leopard gecko, but yesterday one of the staff girls informed me that they also sell dubia roaches that I have been looking for for some time. Unfortunately they're illegall in Alberta (not sure about rest of the Canada) but they sell pre-gut loaded dead ones :)

They have animals out so you can see and pet them, they even have a cat room where you can play with kittens. The staff were nice and helpful. If you are interested in reducing and reusing, they have kitty litter containers that you can come back and refill. I've never seen that before and I love the idea.

I have been a customer here since they opened. Friendly & knowledgable staff are the norm! Great selection of pets & almost everything needed for those pets! My ferret fix is satisfied, as I visit them every time I arrive to purchase cat food! Btw, best selection anywhere!! I love this store!

The Animal Care Manager (young lady - don't remember her name) was incredibly helpful with finding us a great home/supplies for our newest family member (Henry - the Hedgehog). Great prices, nicely organized store, great customer service. We will definitely return for future shopping! *Recommend*

The staff are very helpful. I have a dog who has sensitive tummy and I am currently trying out different foods that will work for him. They have helped navigate through the many choices. They are able to answer most questions and let me know if I can return the food if it doesn't work for him.

Very poor customer service at this store. The cashiers refused to sell me an item as per the marked price on their shelf as the item scanned higher than what was marked. I picked up the item based on the price displayed. Very disappointed with the service. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Marissa was so helpful. The pets are taken care of very well. And if someone ever returns a pet to this store for whatever reason they will take care of it even if it has to stay at the store for its forever home. I thought that was nice! Also a great selection of products!

Horrible, been there 4 times, 4 times closed, 3 of those times the open sign was lite. Take the time to park, get out, walk to the store, turn around and find another better pet store with real shopping hours like Pet Smart on Calgary Trail.

Great spot and awesome prices! Their staff is so friendly and helps me find whatever niche thing I'm looking for. It's always fun to play with one of the cats in their playroom. Highly recommend shopping here rather than the bigger stores.

I went to adopt a cockatiel here, Nicole helped me. She was very knowledgeable on the subject and really helped me pick whats best for my bird. I browsed the store for a good while and they answered all the questions that i had in detail.

Amazing staff. But petland keeps their bettas in bowls of water. Meanwhile on the same row of shelving they have all of their fish tanks on display empty. Maybe stop torturing animals and put some proper policies in motion.

This store does not follow their own advertised sales and just heads up next door is winners which has same exact dog toys and treats for 50% less so don't just give money when there is better deals else where.

Very nice pet store, with rescue cats up for adoption, all sorts of beautiful fish, hamsters, gerbils, bunnies, and of course reptiles!! A wide assortment of pretty good and toys and accessories for your pet.
