Today I visited your venue with my elderly parents for their 62nd wedding anniversary. My mother is in a wheelchair and although there is a ramp up the stairs to the deck at the front door, there is no ramp to get over the approximately 2inch step through the front door. I had to turn my mother around in her wheelchair and pull her over that step to get through the front door and I actually struggled to get her out of the front door when we were leaving, trying to hold on to the wheelchair. I was surprised when staff replied to my suggestion of having a ramp at the front door and I was told - “we can’t cater for everyone, we have a ramp over the steps to the front door but feel free to bring your own ramp next time” - as if I carry a ramp in my car to take my parents out. Your venue is not wheelchair access friendly but most of your customers are probably elderly as we have been before when mum was on a walker and could manage to get in. The food is always good but I doubt we will be back again as I am not prepared to risk tipping my mother out of her chair as I struggle to manage access.

If, like me, your nana, nonna, gammie or grandma was the absolute best in the world who cooked amazing home made meals, you best prepare for a trip down nostalgia road. This place is homely. It's still clean but it feels like you're a guest, not a patron. The young waitress treats everyone with a familiarity one could expect from...... well, family, whilst remaining professional and courteous. And the food, oh the food. The roast beef was to die for, perfectly prepared. The veggies were just as good and the gravy thick and rich. The home fries were golden, well seasoned and not greasy, as one might come to expect these days. And the prices are beyond reasonable. I cannot recall the last time I spent $25 on a main and felt overwhelmingly full and pro tip, I'm not a small eater. Dessert was excellent, the crepes fresh and full and the mousse delicious. I get the feeling my visits here will be regular. If you're in the area, go there. You'll not be disappointed.

We dined here on Valentine’s Day. Firstly, the décor could do with an upgrade but we expected this having seen some photos. The small carpark was full – two cars deep. At first we thought this would be an inconvenience for those blocked in however, as the night progressed, we realised that most people knew everyone. We were offered a free wine each. The menu offers great choice for everyone (beef, seafood, chicken, pork) and all mains come with vegetables which is very rare these days. We also received a warm crusty roll and the butter was actually soft. We also had a dessert each. Everything was delicious! All for only $46 pp! Unbelievable value. Service by the younger waitress was very good. Later in the night, a guitar-strumming man (we assume the owner) sang early classics. Not quite what we expected but nevertheless, we found it entertaining. We will be back for another dinner, and will have to try their lunch as well as their Devonshire tea.

Awesome meal, main course Salmon with salad but other courses available A caramel milkshake followed by plumb pudding with Brandy sauce from memory. Yum Yum There were around 12 of us, everybody enjoyed their meals, the female staff were terrific. We're planning to visit soon again, Highly recommended you will be very happy that you did. Setting is also very romantic, best to ring and book to ensure your seating is confirmed, because it's very popular and no surprise there. See for yourself, take yourself and your partner or spouse or parents, it will leave a very nice lasting impression on you like it did for me. I think it's byo as well but check. We had a group lunch mostly seniors. Lunch was great. One picky senior noted that the corn cob seemed shorter than last year. I thought it was OK but I’m not a fan of corn anyway. Sticky date was delicious. The drinks were a bit confusing—were the coffees included (no) and why was corkage a dollar a head when only 2 or 3 on a long table were drinking? Nitpicking aside we all had a great time and it was just a short drive to the Olinda gardens.

This place is horrible, i do not feel safe with my kids running round the garden with litteral human poo chunks everywhere. This place is not sanitary at all and I have no idea how this place is still open. one of the staff is extremely rude especially to kids. My 5 and 3 year old started crying after one of the ladies yelled at them for walking over to the bathrooms. The food is raw and there are not many kids options. I do not recommend. NEVER COME HEAR!!!

The day might have been cold but the warm welcome and roaring fire soon made up for it the day we arrived. As its name suggests Rose Cottage has a quaint, friendly atmosphere-- almost a home away from home feel, helped in no small part by the smiling, unstinting service. Nothing is too much trouble for staff. Cathy was a standout for her warmth and courteousness. Food is wholesome, cooked to perfection and delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Unlicensed so BYO if you wish to indulge. We couldn't have enjoyed our lunch there more and judging by the number of other diners there, the feeling is universal. Definitely worth a return visit. Can't wait!

Had an unplanned stop here for lunch en route to Dandenong's Botanic Gardens and despite not having booked, was given a warm welcome on a fairly busy day. Wonderfully quiet ambience - just the gentle hum of patrons' calm conversations (no intrusive or dominating music to shout over). Delicious food and a good selection at very reasonable prices. What a treasure! Although only visiting from interstate for another couple of weeks, I'm sure to revisit this gem of an establishment. Well done owners and staff.

Me and my Partner's FAVOURITE restaurant. Everything about this place is amazing, the food is amazing and most of all it is cooked with LOVE. It is a family owned and run business so it comes with such a homely atmosphere and vibe. The price of the meals are very reasonable but worth every cent. We've introduced a lot of our friends to The Rose Cottage who now love the place just as much as we do. The drive up is nice and it's location is beautiful too on any given day no matter what season you're in. Give it go! I promise you will not disappointed!

Recently my choir had its twentieth anniversary celebration lunch at Rose Cottage. The day involved two hours of shared performances, from songs, to Irish dancing, to loud sax playing. The Rose Cottage staff were welcoming, efficient, helpful and friendly. The food was excellent, nicely presented and at a very reasonable price. The day was a huge success, thanks, in no small measure, to Rose Cottage.

I chose this place because of the high rating (4.8) at the time and nice photos. However the portion sizes of the "main" were too small for the price. The food quality was merely average and the place was really dirty. Cobwebs everywhere in the dining area. The rating was not realistic at all. Not recommended

Ordered a whole lemon meringue pie for a birthday, gave them the wrong date and asked to have it moved up, they were more than helpful and able to still make it. Hands down the best lemon meringue pie I’ve had, buttery flaky pasty, a creamy decadent curd and perfectly caramelised meringue. Lovely staff and lovely location.

Tried Rose Cottage for the first time a few weeks ago. A little gem in the Dandenongs. The food was tasty and very good value. BYO and no corkage charge. We were so satisfied that we left behind our fabric wine pouch without thinking! If you like to take a leisurely drive to the Dandenongs then give this place a go.

Beautifully set up, pretty tables, a fire, a balcon view of greenery outside. BYO available and super reasonable price for the amazing service and food cooked so well like a homemade meal. I have an intolerance to dairy and egg and they made me my own special sauce out of coconut milk for my salmon. Definitely will be back! So grateful to live close by!

All 6 of us had a wonderful time on Valentines Day. Deb and Steve are amazing hosts. The staff is really good and quick service. The food was really good. As 3 of us were vegetarian, the potato pancakes were delicious. 10/10 for desserts. Beautiful and romantic ambiance. Highly recommended. Plus you will love the nature while driving to the restaurant.

We loved our experience at Mums 90th Birthday celebration. Our party were so extremely impressed with the staff the chef the food the presentation the atmosphere just fantastic. They were so very helpful in organizing the event and even had a bunting up and table for the cake. Magnificent and many thanks for a wonderful day.

Our first time here and I’m so impressed with the food & service. Charming venue, very well-priced, inedible service and food is so so so yummy. Love everything about this place. My kids even got offered to play with the chess set & doll house. Will return again soon.

Beautiful cottage feel. The steaks were the best we have had for a long time. Desert was superb, berry crepe and all that for under $60 each. We will be back again and again and have another chat with Steve the boss and Deb the best cook.

Delicious, quality food, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. I'll order the potato pancake with smoked salmon again next time - it was that good. The staff are friendly and helpful. The open fire and vintage decor are cosy - a cross between grandma's house and a restaurant.

Found this lil gem on a recent drive... Came in for our anniversary dinner tonight. We're sooooo glad we did. Atmosphere amazing, absolutely delicious food. Huge compliments to the chef. Thank you to Kathy for making us feel extremely welcome. We'll be back for sure!

Classic meals cooked to perfection for a minimal price. The setting is a homely cottage. This indeed is special place, I’m glad I stopped in. I wish I had taken a photo but it would not have captured the simple but well executed meal, it was delicious.

Favourite restaurant of my wife and I. Regular Sunday roast beef lunch, never found better. Staff are a credit so friendly and helpful, make you feel at home Food is top class never fails to impress Thank goodness lockdown is over and we can return.

We had a family group of eight adults for our mothers birthday yesterday. Lovely warm welcome to a well set table complete with a ‘happy birthday’ decoration. Good value, great home style food with attentive friendly service. We will return.
