Smitswinkel Bay is a remote cove located on the scenic coastal road between Simon's Town and the entrance to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. At the bottom of a steep cliff. Smits, as it is affectionately known by the locals, is the last cove on the False Bay side of the Cape, about 20 minutes outside of Simon's Town. Smitswinkel Bay, Simon's Town ile Cape Point Doğa Koruma Alanı'nın girişi arasındaki doğal sahil yolunda yer alan uzak bir koy. Sarp bir uçurumun dibinde. Smits, yerel halk tarafından sevgiyle bilindiği gibi, Cape'in False Bay tarafındaki son koy, Simon's Town'ın yaklaşık 20 dakika dışında.
WOW. If you looking for special place to catch the sun, then give this a try. You have to park off the road and make your way down on foot. It's not a long walk but the reward is phenomenal. Spend a long as you like playing in the sea and catching the sun with spectacular views of False Bay. It does not seem to get very busy perhaps because of the walk or the fact that it's not very well known and most people drive past it on the way to Cape Point. A great place for snorkeling or just to relax and enhale the Beaty of this coastline.
Absolutely stunning views. There's a 20 minute walk that starts at the view point and it's also the start of more beautiful trails. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't very full . I was part of a hiking group , so we actually didn't have enough parking, but I'm sure under normal circumstances it wouldn't be an issue. As a South African citizen, I paid R90 at the gate, I had to show them my ID though.

Smitswinkel means Smith’s shop in Afrikaans (as in Blacksmith). The name dates back to 1744, but its origin or relevance is unknown. Accordingly, Smits was first called Patience after the tiny stream which flows down a small valley into the bay as mariners who want to fill their water casks had to be very patient because of the slow trickle of water. Back then, Smits could only be reached by boat. Today it’s a beautiful little beach with few tiny houses

Great view of the bay and beyond. No facilities as seats or toilets, but the place is basically a spot on the edge of the road so not much to ask. There are a pair of good explanatory plaques with information of False Bay and the local flora (Fynbos).
Its a picture perfect view. The breeze is so cool. Can sit on the bench for a while & clear the mind. Be careful though as the wind speed can increase drastically. Excellent scenario.

A visit down to Smitswinkelbaai is only for the relatively fit and able, as it is a long, steep path down and even worse back. This is an exclusive natural preserve at the foot of steep mountains in a highly scenic location.
Ein wunderschöner Viewpoint. Anhalten ist ein MUSS!
