I walked into the shop about 18 months ago. At the time there was an issue with shipping and receiving from other countries and getting things in stock was an issue, really regardless of where you were shopping. So I was told to come back in about a year. One year later (about four months ago) I walk in and request an extra large frame mountain bike but like as basic as they come because it’s been years since I’ve been on a bike and I’m really not looking for anything fancy. The guy behind the desk didn’t care what I had to say and was pushing hard that I’d buy some really great bike, and was really trying to take advantage of me for not knowing a thing or two about bike options. So he wanted a certain kind of seat and handle bars and pedals, etc. But I kept trying to tell him I’m not interested in that kind of stuff. He finally pulled up this pic and said this is as low of price and quality that they’d be able to go - $2800. I said I was gonna shop around and he said all other shops had similar prices and gave me the impression that I’d be coming back to say he was right. Well, he wasn’t. I drove to Road Runner Bikes on Happy Valley at 67th Ave and they could get me something I was looking for, for $1150. Perfect. Because of the price difference, I didn’t even look anywhere else. 2 stars because the first time I walked in about 18 months ago that guy was down to earth and east to talk to. Sorry I don’t know the name of this second guy.
I Brought in three bike to get tuned and ti fix a small problem on my bike. Never had a shop where tuned means returned with flat tires, loose handle bars, loose seat and worst of all my gears slip and grind. I don't see how you can tune a bike and not test your work.. had they even tried to ride it they would have caught the flats, loose handle bars and slipping gears. Returned bikes and they got my wife's corrected yet mine came back slipping worse than before. Ok maybe it needs a part or something so returned it a third time and stated issues. Advised they may have missed something and we may need to replace a part. I got it back five minutes later. Dude didn't even take it out test. After that I just took my bike back and decide safety was to important to let them keep working. I had spent several hundred dollars and am no worse off than I started. I called and complained and they offered to take another look at it but after three visit I decided not to let them touch my family's equipment again. I would suggest going somewhere else. This was six months ago so maybe the guy tuning has changed but check your stuff after repairs. No need to get hurt out here.
Went to the shop last May willing to spend a lot of money for a mountain bike. In talking to Will he narrowed my selection down to something that sounded reasonable. Instead of a $3k purchase I was looking at an $1100 for a Giant that should have met my needs. Placed order, then waited…. Every time I phoned I was told that I’d get a call back with an update. Never happened. On one of my calls they told me the bike would arrive this November. On 11/30 I called for an update to find out that the bike I ordered had been discontinued, though I could stay on the waiting list for a similar bike that would be available in 2023. Really?? They suggested the bike I ordered and never followed up to work with me on a solution. Still trying to see if my deposit has been credited back to me and now I start the process over with another shop. Though now I’m looking at purchasing another bike for my girlfriend too. I understand Covid delays but zero follow up and zero customer service. Don’t waist your time with this shop!!!!! I’m in the market for two bikes now, hopefully someone can take care of my needs….
Went into Sonoran looking to purchase a high end mountain bike. Their inventory was limited, but I expected that after going to a couple other bike shops and hearing that COVID had really screwed up manufacturers’ supply chains. That being said, they had 2 bikes(Yeti/Pivot) in the shop I was potentially interested in purchasing. I was more interested in the Pivot since it had 29” wheels rather than the 27.5” on the Yeti(but would have purchased the Yeti if that was the only one for sale). I believe I was speaking w/the manager, and he mentioned he wasn’t sure if the Pivot was available until he spoke to the owner. Left my name/number w/him, and he stated he’d call me immediately once he could speak w/the owner(he stated he’d call me back w/in the next couple days). Unfortunately, I never received a call back if the Pivot was available or if the Yeti was the only option. While waiting for the call, I was able to go to another bike shop(Savage Bicycles), and they had the Pivot I wanted(and bought it immediately). In the end it worked out for me, but unfortunately not for Sonoran.
These guys get it - its not about squeezing every dime out of a customer like a lot of bike shops do - its about generating customer loyalty and referals - that is how you grow a business and that they have. I moved to AZ last year and bought my first mountain bike from them - it was an entry level bike - I was not sure I'd even like riding in the desert so I didn't want to spend a fortune. They treated me like I was buying a 10K race bike ! I was so impressed with their service and can-do attitude that I have referred a half dozen people to them for their bikes as well. I am now addicted to MTB riding - so when it came time to upgrade my bike to a new carbon frame FSR - it was a no-brainer to call them. The bike I wanted was in stock, I got a great price and I was riding it the next day. Perfectly adjusted too! A++ bike shop - go here if you don't want the typical LBS attitude.. these guys know how to treat customers and work with you to put you on a bike in your budget. Great wrenches too.
I have been coming to this bike shop for 2 years now. I am not a cyclist and I am not a bicycle guru by any sense of the word. I am a single mother with 5 boys with knack for destroying everything on their bikes. In the many trips I have made to this shop, I have always been greeted and treated with professionalism, kindness and understanding. Their prices are amazing to repair a tire, which can happen weekly during the school year when my kids bikes get used on a day to day basis. They have never behaved pretentious, uninterested, or bothered by me when I bring in my cheap Wal-mart bikes for repairs. They are a straight forward group of people offering quality work for a good price. I read some of the other reviews that gave poor ratings and this has NEVER been my experience. I think those reviews have more to do with the customer than the employees.
Bought my Norco bike here and the experience was just fantastic. As one of the only few shops in AZ that distributes Norco, they had a bike I could demo. Then they gave me a GREAT price on that 2018 bike (I did shop around). They had the bike delivered and built properly when they said they would. I got home did some minor adjustments on my own (it's hard to think of all the little things that makes the bike feel like yours when you're at the shop). They gave me advice on my fork and shock adjustments and have been really friendly the whole way through. They are about 20 miles away from my house and yes I'd recommend them for sales and service even if you have to drive that distance or more.
My experience was pre-Covid. I was not sure if I needed an appointment, so I went in to discuss with someone if I could bring my bike in for a tune up. There were three men working. One in the back was actively working on a bike. The other two were helping two different customers. Once each customer was helped and left I figured they would ask what brought me in. Instead they ignored me and went behind the counter to chat with the third employee. A father and son came in and the older gentleman engaged in conversation with them about races they recently did. At this point I had been standing at the counter for about five minutes, so I decided to walk out. Business must be good *shrug*
These guys are the absolute best. I end up in here about once a month from riding my bike too hard and breaking something or getting myself into a maintenance position I can't get myself out of. They always help me out like complete pros. The nicest people and never condescending no matter what I did. They always try to give me options for what needs to be done and do their best to make sure I can get back on the trails and start riding again as soon as possible. Fast turn arounds every time. So glad I found this place. They are the absolute best. They are great about giving me options and trying to help me get back out there without spending a fortune. 100% would recommend.
I have used several bike shops in the North Phoenix area for about 10 years. Sonoran Cycles in Glendale has been the best shop so far by leaps and bounds. They are always friendly and knowledgeable when you call them. Their mechanical work has been top notch...always, no exception. They can do almost any type of repair, even the most complex ones. They are super honest and their advise has always been spot-on and their prices always reasonable. They always get the job done quicker than ANY other local bike shop I have ever used. This bike shop is Superb! Kudos to Will, Eddie and Chad ...Also to the Owner/s 5 +++ all the way! Gabriel Bonilla
Great pricing, but the gentlemen who helped us came off pretty pretentious. Immediately asking questions that were far above the average bike goer's knowledge. Then when I went to show him a picture of the part I needed replaced and my phone shifted views he told me, "you just gotta hold your phone still a minute." As if I didn't know how to work my own phone... Every question he asked me seemed far more complicated than it needed to be. Just because you go into a bike shop doesn't mean you're a bicycle guru, sheesh.
People have different expectations at any bike shop. I tend to like smaller shops as I've always had better experiences at them. I was passing through town and looking for a good deal on a 2014 model bike. I went here to look at Pivot bikes but ended up buying a Santa Cruz 5010 carbon. The owner was friendly, helpful, and honest. Very happy with my bike and the experience there. It says a lot when you buy your bike at a shop 400 miles away from home. Update: 4 years later I'm still a returning customer. Great shop.
Needed a repair on my MTB when my son recommended Sonoran cycles. Although it is not a large shop, the inventory that you will notice walking in is mind blowing top end stuff. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and have a passion for biking. The long and short of it all they fixed my hydrolic rear disk brake problem and seated a tubeless rim that I was having problems with. Cost. $0.00! I fully reconmend these guys and will trust them with my future biking needs, keep riding!
This place has EXCELLENT customer service! I am new to bike riding. I took my bike down there because I needed some assistance with my tires and the tire pressure. The gentleman who worked there took his time and answered all my questions. He even helped make sure I had my bike rack installed properly on the back of my car and made sure my bike was properly and securely strapped on and in place. Highly recommend! A+ service!
Shout out to Parker, Chad and Jose. They were so helpful, fast, and polite!! Called today about getting my 2 bikes, tires replaced. They asked me the sizes, and when I didn't know they walked me thru it. This was to make sure 1) they had the sizes available and 2) I wouldn't bring in 2 bikes and waste my time. They had the tires, I brought them in and about 10 minutes late had them ready for me. Great job guys!!
I recently discovered Sonoran Cycles Bike Shop and couldn't be more impressed. Their extensive bike selection and knowledgeable staff made finding the perfect ride a breeze. What sets them apart is the unexpected perk of having an ATM right next door at the barbershop – a small but brilliant convenience that saved me time when I needed to pay with cash. I highly recommend this store to any cyclist.
Not impressed at all, I picked this place based on all the positive reviews. I am very new to cycling, I took a bike in for a tune up, was trying to talk the gentleman who took my bike, tried to ask questions, he was not engaging at all. Not rude, but basically ignored me, same when I went to pick it up. Very disappointed. Thankfully there are other local bike shops that will want my business.
I had warranty service on my rear shock done with FOX, but when it came back it wasn't fixed. I appreciate Will not just throwing it on and assuming it was good. He actually rode it around and told me it still wasn't right. I had to send it back in again and it was fixed the second time. These guys are super knowledgeable and will take care of you! Support this shop!! Thanks Will and Parker!
These guys are absolutely fantastic. There are lots of bike shops that tend to be intimidating and not overly friendly. This bike shop is neither. Their customer service is fantastic and they have always taken great care of me. They also are very inclusive of women, which sadly, even in 2017 is still often uncommon in bike shops. Do not go anywhere else but here for whatever you may need.
Parker is incredible! He is extremely knowledgeable, very personable, very professional, and always willing to answer questions and give great advice and recommendations. This is absolutely the best bike shop in Phoenix. Prices are very reasonable and repair work is of the highest quality with fast turnaround times. I give them my highest recommendation. Thank you Parker!.
First time customer at Sonora Bikes and had a super positive experience. I can't remember the first guy I spoke to but he was extremely knowledgeable and helped me with purchasing new tires for my bike that better fit my riding style. Aaron was also great and was able to quickly install the tires when I was short on time. Will definitely be returning in the future!
These guys are pretty solid overall. They've done me well on working in my road bike, and decent on my MTB. I have two friends who have bought expensive bikes, and they give good deals. My only complaint is that they are always super duper busy for a quick bike repair turn around. But they are trustworthy guys and deal at a fair and reasonable price.
Amazing shop, Down-to-earth people, They never made me feel dumb for asking questions. They took their time and didn't rush the setup on my bike. They also help me set up my bike and explained everything they were doing. Super awesome vibe at the shop. Thanks for everything you guys did for me and hope to catch you out on the trail! Tigger lol
Just drove down to the valley to try and buy a new bike. Pull up and everything is closed. I call and they say they are there, didnt have the exact one I wanted but had a comparable carbon frame model. The gentleman I talked to wouldn't even invite me in to look at it. I'm sure I can find another shop that will be happy to take my money today.
Without a doubt, this is the best bike shop west of I-17 and north of I-10. They always have time to explain maintenance issues and do excellent and on-time repair work, often much more quickly and at significantly lower prices than some of the other bike shops in the area. Plus, they carry some of the truly great brands in cycling.
I just had one of my best ever customer service experience at a bike shop (and I’ve been riding off and on for 35 years!). I was cheerfully greeted, helped right away, given great advice, and treated respectfully. What a refreshing departure to the blight of cocky employees who seem to have infiltrated so many bike shops.
I had a problem with my rear wheel wobbling. I thought it was the bearing. I called Sonoran Bikes & explained the issue. They said just come in, no appointment necessary. I took my bike in & in about 5 minutes the wheel was fixed. Colter tightened everything & made sure it was ready to go. Great service & great people!
I bought a bike here. Their price was much better than the price I was offered at a different shop. I forget who it was I initially dealt with but it was a smooth experience. Terry has now worked on the bike a few times, no problems.... and he answers all my questions. Would recommend.
Everyone here was VERY helpful when I came in looking for a bike. They worked with my price range and found a model that had all the features I would need. In one week I got a call the bike had arrived and was fully assembled, which seemed pretty quick. 10/10 thanks for everything!
Incredible Shop! Will, Eddie, and all the whole crew are top notch people. Took 2 of my bikes in for service and the work was completed quickly, professionally, and was very cost effective. I would happily drive out of my way to shop here and have my bikes worked on. Thanks! Dan
Brought my wife's bike in for a tune up. They promised a two day turn around time and they had is ready in only one day and at the price quoted. All the work was performed and the bike was returned all clean and ready to ride. The staff is very friendly and customer oriented.
The team at this shop rocks! I couldn't ask for a better shop to keep my Trek and me on the trail. Always prepped with excellent service in prompt time. They have gone above any beyond more than once and seem to make it their practice. I highly recommend using this shop.
I broke my chain twice on a mountain bike ride today - time for a new one! Other bike shops are telling me that they can't get around to putting a new chain on for over 2 weeks, these guys fit it in instantly and did it in 3 min! You just made a customer for life!
I recently had a bike that had been sitting outside for 6 years. Of course had both flat tires, front brake wouldn’t work and rusted chain and shifters. They fixed it up at way less than I thought. Would recommend them to anyone. Awesome work!!!! David
UPDATE: Bought a new bike there this week and was soooo happy with my experience there! They were really helpful and courteous. The deal they gave me was smoking. Awesome local bike shop, sponsored my son's school MTB team this past year.
Ian was awesome! He walked through the advantages/shortcomings of several full-suspension mountain bikes I am interested in. The shop has also treated my riding buddies with excellent customer service! I will return and recommend others!
Cant beat their prices and the staff is very honest and helpful. Chad has done an outstanding job every time I've been in with questions, highly recommend this shop over all the ones I've been too between phoenix and flagstaff.
Great shop! Superior expertise and knowledge. They listened to what I wanted and made a recommendation that completely escaped my initial list of options. I couldn't be happier with my new bike. The entire experience was A+
Bought a bike for my mom with Terry at Sonoran Bikes in Surprise. Great customer service and assistance fitting her to her new bike and lifestyle. He's here to help with any questions or concerns she has. Love that!
These guys are super helpful and very knowledgeable. Ever since I moved from Scottsdale (used to go to Rage Cycles) I have been struggling to find a legit bike shop, this place is it, without a doubt...
I rode my bike to the gym and when I came out I had a flat.... and I didn’t bring a wallet! Walked my bike over to Sonoran Cycles and they were nice enough to take care of my flat! Great guys! Thanks!
Went in to get a few questions answered about upgrading parts on my MTB and they were super knowledgeable! Got all my questions answered and got exactly what I needed. Can't recommend them enough!
These guys are awesome! I had an issue while assembling my bike and they were so cordial, welcoming and fixed the bike for me! I will definitely recommend coming here for all Bike services!
Very fast and also reliable service. One day took my sons bike and asked them change the tube and they reviewed and said it just needs the air not the tube.. and didn't charge...
Employees are very helpful, helped me pick out a Santa Cruz Hightower for a good deal and got everything setup for me quickly! Would recommend to all, support your local shops!!
We love this bike shop. They’re always helpful when we bring our bikes in and always attentive. They recognize my kids and are sweet with them and let them play with their dog.
This shop is awesome I typically don’t write reviews but these guys have earned it on multiple occasions. They are honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend them. …
These guys are great! I have taken my bike in several times and it has always been great customer service and quality work. I have referred several people to them!
I went there knowing nothing about mountain bikes. Brian helped me out and I am very happy with my new Giant MTB. Only thing, I should have gotten a bigger seat.
Absolutely fantastic! The guy that I talked to knew his product very well and there was no pressure to buy. Friendly employees and a good looking shop.
These guys are terrific from point of sale to service. Love my new bike and they are taking good care of me. Highly recommend them. Thanks very much.
Great shop! Jay and the crew make sure things are done right and the shop stays involved in the cycling community which you do not often see today.
You will not find a better bunch of guys to wrench on your bikes. Friendly professional knowledgeable and at a fair price for service and products
There's a reason why people shop on Amazon rather than go into a store just to realize they have no customer service skills. Amazon here we go.
Every time I’ve been here they are straight forward and honest and have provided exceptional and timely service. Couldn’t recommend them more.
This is my go-to bike shop. Friendly, helpful, fair prices. I've been in many times over many years and have never been let down by them.
Thank you Parker for helping my son today with his tire! All you guys are AWESOME and very honest. I highly recommend this bike shop.
Came in looking for some misc parts and they won me over with their friendly demeanor and great prices. I will be back again!
Parker has been super awesome to work with on trying to get my fork serviced. Very knowledgeable, helpful, and professional.
The service is fantastic! Friendly, and efficient. Quality of work is awesome; I had a bike built there, and it runs charm.
No pressure. They won't sell you what you don't want, no up selling. Nice to find a place like this still exists
They made my bike purchase quick and easy! Prices are fair and I’m enjoying my new bike every day. Thanks guys!
Decent selection of bikes would recommend to friends and family for their bike purchasing its near the safeway
These guys are great! Very helpful and keep you updated on status. I'll take my business to them again.
This is a good store...helped me solve my car problems...and for some reason...gave me a free deal!
Friendly employees, great service! They made sure my damaged bike was safe and ready to ride again
Great service every time, super reasonable prices and the work is first rate. I love this place!
When my BMC frame broke I should have picked a different shop to do the warranty work.
Solid service! Great help. Quick stop for parts on the way to the trail...Great Shop!
