Paid $25 for a Lamb Greek Salad that was missing both the Fetta and the Pine Nuts. The lamb skewers were both entree sized half skewers and one wasn't full at that. So maybe enough lamb for one full sized skewer at most. Although the lamb was cooked well and tasted great I was starving after having essentially a side salad and a lamb skewer for my meal. Worse still my partner paid $42 for what was a thin slice of steak with a lot of sinew. Not a scotch fillet! I've eaten here many times before and it's never great but this one takes the cake. Yet go to Wheelers Hill James Squire and you get the biggest juiciest perfectly cooked eye fillet steak imaginable. So dissatisfied. Add all this to the system of ordering through QR code and you'd be forgiven for thinking there are no staff at the venue, except to dump and run when serving food. They were pleasant enough when I asked questions, but they looked like the life had been sucked out of them. Go for the beer or wines for sure, but I wouldn't recommend the food or garden dining, which is next to the road and smoking area. Added bonus if the smoker is also going and the wind happens to be blowing in the wrong direction. It's a pity because they have the best location but this place just doesn't seem to have its S*#t together. EDIT Went back today and had the first good experience we've had here in years. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was terrific. The best part, we were told we could order through the damn painful and stupid app... Or at the bar. We chose the bar, what a relief. My faith is beginning to be restored. Fingers crossed they continue on the right path.
Attended for a friend's birthday, first time there in maybe 20 years, the place is huge and nicely laid out. We were in a private room that was nicely isolated from the main meal and bar area. Only a small selection of beers in the room which required you to go to the main bar for a bigger selection of tap beers. As I enjoy tasting various beers, I didn't mind that only James Squire beers were on offer, but some might not enjoy the limited range. There was a good range of foods covering most tastes I'd think, I didn't hear of any complaints from others, I shared some buffalo wings and various seafood and salad, all cooked perfectly to my liking. The meals tasted like a standard sauce but with additional spices added that enhanced the flavour without being overboard. For 3 schooners and more food than l could eat the night cost just over $60. The birthday cake was a home made one in the shape of a English coppers 'bobbies' helmet and topped of a great night.

Parking both beside and in front of the building, I pulled up about 6pm on a Thursday night and found about a dozen empty spaces directly out front.
We stopped here for an early evening meal prior to going to a local show. Turned out to be a rather disappointing decision to put it mildly. The Pizza I ordered was doused in so much olive oil that the topping was 'swimming in it' literally & the crust was so rock hard that I could not cut through it nor break it apart as it hadn't even been divided up with the use of Pizza cutter prior to being served to me. My friend ordered the Gnocci which had a similar amount of olive oil applied to this dish leaving a very unpleasant oily residue on the palette. The waitress who inquired whether she should clear the table proceeded to remove the plates, however, given that more than 3/4 of my Pizza was left on the plate untouched it was astonishing that she did not think to ask if there was a problem or inquire if everything was satisfactory with our meals leaving us no alternative to speak to the floor supervisor on the way out in order for us to provide feedback & request a refund, which was duly given. Our impression of this establishment speaks volumes about the lack of quality control, know how, & care, in what is allowed to leave the kitchen for the consumption of its patrons. All in all a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons, suffice to say we wont be returning anytime soon due to one of the worst meals I've had in a long time..

Was very excited to try this place as the food looked wonderful and I had heard great things, as I work for endeavour group The Cheeky Squire came highly recommended. I booked my birthday dinner a month in advance. We got there a little early but our table was ready (it wasn’t overly busy at all either which was nice), and we went and sat down and got a couple of drinks while we waited for our remaining party members to arrive (booking for 8). Upon two of my other guests arrival, they were advised “if you’ll be ordering food, it’ll be a minimum hour and a half wait” - which my guests then came to the table to advise me. Not ONE staff member advised me upon my arrival (15 minutes prior to my guests) or my companions when we went to get drinks, or even came to the table to let us know. Nothing was offered, whether that be bread, drinks or even simple information. One of my guests went up to confirm, and was told “yeah we are understaffed it’ll be a minimum hour and a half, but you could wait an hour to order” - which would have put our orders in at approximately 8:30pm. Needless to say, we called the rest of our party members and left 5 minutes later. Absolutely abysmal. I understand busy periods, understaffing and a busy work environment, but the treatment of us as pre booked and paying customers was extremely sub par. We drove half an hour home to order pizzas.
Arrived for our DINNER booking for a Thursday night dinner with interstate relatives and was directed to our table by friendly staff who suggested it’s best to order via the app to avoid the queues. After a round of drinks, ordered via the app, which took 20 minutes to arrive even though there was no queue at the bar, each couple logged on to the app to order meals. One order successfully placed but at 8.30pm when in the middle of finalising 2 more orders the app closed the dinner menu. We found a staff member and told her of our problem and she went off to find “the manager “. After 10 minutes no manager could be found and negotiations with the chef to accept 2 more orders failed as “all the equipment is shut off at 8.30pm”. Staff told us that the chef was happy to prepare the order placed via the app but would not accept any others. Discussion with the staff were professional and it was clear that they were caught in the middle so we requested and received a refund for the one order and crossed the road to The Deck and had dinner there…….. Only suggestion would be to clearly communicate when the kitchen closes and have staff go around to tables to prompt guests to order. A throughly disappointing experience.

Tuesday Dinner Service. Venue at 40% capacity max and over staffed. Customer service was absolutely atrocious. Entrees were served without side plates. When asked for they delivered plates to one tabe and expected to take the rest to the pther table ourselves. Water was NEVER offered or mentioned. Our tables food was ordered and two meals where completely missed. No apology offered. Just "we forgot to make them" these meals were served after everyone else had already finished. Our table remained full for the entire rest of the night. No plates cleared. No glasses cleared. The staff just puttered around making themselves look busy for the most part. Not a member of our party where impressed. As someone who has worked in hospitality for a very long time. I would personally be disgusted in any of my staff treated their patrons like this. We considered eating dessert but unfortunately there was no room on the table. I cant imagine how often people dont order desserts and coffee for this reason.

The bad: service from Jenny was horrible when booking over the phone. No customer service, did not mention to us that outside was being renovated when I specifically asked for an outside table. When we arrived on the day of the booking the young girl(who was very sweet) told us that out back is being renovated and we could only sit outside at the front in which there was no available tables despite making a booking. We had to wait around and made do by pushing some of the lower coffee tables together. The good: We ordered entrees to share, a pizza and a few cocktails. Calamari was great. Pumpkin arancini was average, sweet potato chips can’t go wrong. The chicken pizza was really good (not oily like other reviews) Good atmosphere on a warm night/day Lots of tables inside but definately need to work on their reservations

Place looks nice but it’s all style no substance. Seems like they forgot to season everything. The mac and cheese croquettes are bland and flavourless and the fried chicken burger just tasted like bacon and sweet bread. While the chicken itself is cooked well, there’s nothing flavourful about the batter or the inside of the burger. And the worst, the salad with grilled chicken. I don’t know how you mess up a salad but somehow they managed to do it. The chicken is dry and over cooked. Again, will someone use some salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, literally anything to give this place some flavour. I’d come here for a drink again but certainly not food. What a disappointment considering the price. Would be better off getting a kebab across the road.

Decent food, but one out of four main meals was forgotten. Asked a manager about it who was waiting a table next to us - she said something incomprehensible, played with someone else's dogs for 5 mins and went inside. A good few mins later, still nothing, went inside to ask about the food and it hadn't been cooked yet. The rest of us had finished eating. Cancelled and refunded. Not even an apology was given. Seriously, like at least try. First time there and it's a nice place but I won't be back.

Spent over $75 here for 2 people. The food that we ordered everything was delicious apart from the Southern Chicken burger. The bun was crumbling, everything was falling out, the chicken was chewy it was distasteful. I usually have nothing but good things to say about this place as I’ve been here a few times just today was not it. The staff are really lovely tho and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The burger was a huge let down which is a shame. You pay for a meal, wait a certain amount of time just to leave a tad disappointed.

We decided to go to the Cheeky Squire in frankston today for lunch. It was a windy rainy day and we hadn’t booked. The two ladies at the Cheeky check in (Mon and Annette) were very accommodating. They assisted with the check in QR scanning process and then directed us to our wonderful sea side window table. The food was absolutely beautiful as you can see by the photos. The colorful shirt wearing guy at the cocktail station created a wonderful espresso, and white chocolate and passion fruit cocktails. Delicious!!!! Every staff we encountered with was professional and genuinely lovely. Chelsea and Anissa stood out for us. The whole experience at the Cheeky Squire was great. Thank you. We will be back for sure.
The food wayyy too oily. The calamari was decent but all the pasta dishes and covered in oil. The one I ordered I didn’t even eat it I couldn’t I wanted to vomit. Tried to tell chef I wasn’t happy with it could I swap because it wasn’t tortellini I expected but they just left me with what I ordered fair enough I took one bite then and nearly threw up I think they used a whole bottle of olive oil. Stay away from that pasta dishes if you care about your health way to much olive oil or you will be on the way to a hospital with a disease. Keep in mind all the food is WAY overpriced so you are paying for buckets of oil and disease

Had our Christmas party there for the second year in row. Created a Tab on our phone as per our Budget. Was given a card for that Tab to be used at the Bar. The orders made at the Bar were not added to our running total and added at the end which made us go over Budget. Great way to get extra money out of people. Extremely disappointing considering everything else was great and everyone had a good time. This needs to be fixed or make it clear when giving the card for the bar those orders will not be added to the Tab.

Updated, went here on 2nd of April. Had a nice meal with my boyfriend today and the service was great. Thanks to Beck for the great service. Good vibe and good food, but sitting outside don't get much service. Dropped from 3 stars to 2, we came in and sat for like 20 minutes no one come over to take order, I had to go to the bar to find this nice manager lady to order our food. Then waited for another 20 minutes to get our oysters, after the oysters maybe another 25 minutes waiting of our main courses. Plus, no one bother to come over ask us if we want another drink, I wanna tell the boss of this vanue, this is bad for your bysiness. Just by checking back the customers drinks you'll earn much more.
Today at cheeky squire we waited an hour and a half to receive half of our food which was cold. We had to wait an additional half an hour for the other 4 meals when 3 of those meals were salads. The waitress abbey was very lovely and apologetic but the rest of the staff was extremely unhelpful. If by the third time that we asked on an update on the food and they apologized and possibly offered a round of drinks on the house this would be a very different review. I will never again spend money at this place and this is not the first time that I or people I know have had an experience like this.

Update apr23 very busy tonight, dunks came quickly but food was slower. Still excellent. Staff still friendly. Update aug22 back for dinner again. Waiter dropped the drinks. Poor guy. New drinks and food was up to the usual standard. Update may22 Back for dinner with the fam and all our food came out really nicely and served together which was cool. I had the double cheese burger which was really good. Orig I enjoyed my Parma and chips. Even had a sneaky coleslaw hidden under there. The porter Black Spade was good too. Back today and had a good Parma. Also noticed they use paper straws now. Good stuff. #letsguide #sustainable #accessible
Table of 9 First part of the order came in 10 minutes (2 cheeseburgers) Second part of the order came 30 minutes later. 2 meals still have not arrived after 50 minutes. Still waiting on another cheeseburger and pizza and garlic bread. So in a nutshell - really average service and really bad service. The fish and chips is the worst I have ever had. Cold chips and over cooked fish with the worst batter that I have ever encountered. If you want my advice. Save your money and go elsewhere. This place is not worth the money at all.

We hired the function room for our sons 21st, the room was clean and size was perfect for a crowd of up to 100 the staff were fantastic and sort to resolve any issues that arose very quickly, service was really exceptional I think when we do it again all I would change would be our preparation such as our music and visual displays and a bit more decorations but this is not a necessity. The room is not huge but there is always the rest of the hotel for overflow. Parking is ample if your the designated driver. I would definately recommend this venue and I will do this again for our younger daughters events.
Gorgeous pub with nice bay views. Staff have struggled to keep up times most times we have visited , so service can be quite slow. Food is always just ok. Never amazing. Steaks are not great and not worth the $40+ price tag. Not a bad spot to catch up for drinks only. Would love this place to have a larger cocktail selection though.

Have been to The Cheeky Squire a few times now and they have never let me down! Huge restaurant with smiley staff, food portions are amazing and quite cheap, outside dining is perfect with a great view and it’s all round a fantastic place. Would 10/10 recommend the sticky ribs and meatballs from the grazing section of menu. Variety of food, drinks & they cater for all dietary requirements! Pleasant place and will continue to visit You can also download an app and order & pay from your table which is an easy way to skip the line and they bring it all to your table
It's a good pub. The beer list is varied which you would expect. Ordering food is easy enough with the app but be aware that if you want you appetizer to come out first you should order it first. Wait 5-10 minutes then order your mains or you will get them all at once. The beef burgers are always excellent. The southwest chicken burger sadly has been dry both times we have ordered it. Mac and cheese croquettes are . Sadly there isn't really much of a seafood option. Prawn tacos were unavailable, no oysters on offer. Strange for it being a beach side location
Ordered a cocktail which took 20 minutes to arrive other people on our table had finished their first round of drinks girls still waiting for cocktail drinks. 2 people only serving behind the bar 1 person making cocktails. Ordered entrees which came out with the mains When we asked the waitress why entrees didn't come out early we where told entrees come out with the mains never before she was very blunt This is why it's called an entree as it comes out before your mains. snitzel was cold Disappointed

Well what a incredible surprise. Congratulations on a truly amazing place. Right on the foreshore side of Frankston amongst everything (food, night life & beach). Big props to the door managers. So friendly & easy going - the perfect people to greet you. A chilled & elegant vibe with lots of tables to sit & watch the sunset, be romantic or to have a rowdy party...this place rocks & rolls & it'll surprise you how BIG it is. Heaps of parking but be warned kitchen closes at 930pm . Did I mention the door managers. Thank You. See you there again soon. G
We decided to go and check out the cheeky squire last night for our Monday night feed. The bistro was surprisingly busy for a Monday night which is always a good sign! The view of the beach and the kananook creek was a highlight! The service was very good and very helpful. We ordered everything together using the QR code on the table (drinks and food) the drinks came out very quickly! The only odd thing is the entrée came out with our mains instead of before. Very good experience we will be back with family soon!
Fri Lunch 18 August, a large group were celebrating our August Bdays.. wonderful lunch… I would like to mention an amazing helpful staff member. (Sorry I missed yr name) Oops I ordered the wrong meal, we were sharing entrees.. The wonderful staff member checked with the kitchen, and was able to change my meal.. Thank you so much, both meals were very enjoyable, all staff were warm friendly and engaging…and the food was great… Thanks a very enjoyable event …

Went here for an early lunch on Sunday It was quiet at the time. Food was generally good, pizza came out barely warm towards the middle. Pizza better when put through the oven again. Schnitzel was good, fried chicken burger was good. Scan at table to order meals arrived quick. Orders placed at bar before the others were forgotten and required someone to give them a shake up after other meals had arrived.

Keeping it short and simple: 1. Parmas very good - serving size of chips & salad is small 2. Scotch Steak - not the best, plenty of better cuts out there 3. Atmosphere - great, modern, open space 4. Drinks reasonably price and great variety 5. Staff very friendly, however not attentive & tend to congregate together. Both occasions I've been I've had to get up to order or walk up to ask for something I'm sure if the manager does a bit of tweaking this place will be on point..
Service staff very nice but food and time to get beverages and food needs a lot of improvement. We wait 1.5 hours for MR steaks that were tough and too chewy to eat. We did get a refund on one steak that was inedible but didn't want to complain about the others as staff were so lovely. We ordered drinks that took over 30 minutes so decided to cancel them. Really need improvement to the steaks, unfortunately first and last time there for me and the family. Very disapointed!
Well Worth It: The Cheeky Squire is a breath of fresh air for an old establishment. The refit is magnificent, bright & open which makes for a vibrant atmosphere. We sat in the restaurant part where there is table service & the staff were great. Food is simple but very tasty & the range of beers are great too; it was fun trying the sampler. Looking forward to my second visit on Father's Day lunch (2017) & trying a couple of pints of the beers I really liked.
Attended here for a reunion and booked ahead. Had a wonderful table in the corner with great views of the boat ramp and creek. Large selection of beers and wines, good selection of meals and finger food. We had table service but bar service available. Large complex with predominantly wood furniture / texture. Outdoor smoking area. Toilets as well as disabled toilets. Wheel chair friendly. Also great off street car parking.
Wasn't a bad place to go, just not my vibe. Location, atmosphere was good although the menu was very limited in my opinion, could do with more choices. Timing was an issue, 9 of us and food came out at different times, the entree came out after the mains which were cold by the way. Maybe a bad night for them but it wasn't busy at all, it was 5:30 on a Sunday night. Would take a lot of places to be closed for me to go back.
Came for a friend's birthday dinner on a Saturday night. Lady security very nice, even popped our tables together as we had a large group. Food tasty, and good sized portions for the prices. We did have two meals we did have to chase up, otherwise everyone enjoyed their meals Don't come here if you like quiet though- it is a sports bar and gets very noisy. 4/5 Pics: falafel burger, and entrees calamari.
Food was excellent I ordered the ribeye was cooked just as I ordered.....atmosphere was good plenty of people enjoying the venue.....have 4 stars for service as they took a while to bring the ordered...but having said that it was 22nd of December many people having end of work parties...but would definitely go back

Had dinner here 11/10/23 and from the get go it was hopeless service. Ordered the snapper with risotto - omg dried up old fish with soap tasting risotto. The venue and staff are great bud sadly the standard of food and beverage is poor. Ordered a well done steak sadly received what I assume is medium rare and being one of the two tables being used I don't see how this could have been an accident in giving the customer the wrong order. Along with that ordering a lemon lime and bitters. By far one or the most bitter drinks I have had.
The crowd is old and white, but that might just have to do with the demographics of Frankston. The setting is nice. It’s a very spacious place with outdoor seating. It can get very loud inside. The food came out quick and is moderately priced. Everything was good, but nothing AMAZING. Service could be improved by incorporating table service instead of having to order at the bar.
Beautiful, large pub space with comfortable, dim-lit brick interior. Bistro area on one side, pub/sports area in the middle, and quiet bar stool tables area on the other side. There is also an outdoor/smoking area. Food is beautiful but service could be fine tuned (eg. so entrees and mains don't come out at the same time). Love the alcoholic ginger beer brewed by this venue.
We visit TCS ever 8-10 days. First time we set up a tab as it was a family bday & hubby & I paid the bill. Ended up having to go over the bill & ended up with other people’s items on our account. Won’t be doing that again ♀️

Good food; The fish was perfectly crispy and came with loads of fries and salad. Pizza was delish and so was the chicken burger. Seafood fettuccine was average. Large portions. Drinks were good. Service was good but food took a while to come. The place was packed so kitchen could have been busy. Toilets were decent. And you can watch the sunset from the deck.
This was my first visit to Cheeky Squire and I was impressed! Huge open inviting space with dedicated bar and restaurant areas, table service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the Cheeky Cheeseburger, which was a tasty meal, however would have liked the chips to be a little nicer. Worth a visit for the beers alone, the Golden Ale was smooth.
Pumping pub on the water. Service was prompt and polite despite being super busy. Food was well presented and hot when we got it. Happy to come back and stay on for a few frothys and live music.

Great food and awesome beer. Really nice setting with natural light and open space. Had a booth which is great for a group of 6-10 people. Lamb ribs were delicious as were the calamari and saganaki. Parma was good, nothing amazing. Pumpkin gnocchi tasty. Would return for the beer and lots of the grazing menu.
Odering with Qr codes so can't rate service. Food came quick, however 2 ciders and a juice took over 30min. We asked 2 times and finally have 3 mains with no drinks. Maybe a place to order at the bar is okay. If you sit down get ready to wait.

Service was poor. The wait was long, by the time my food came out my partner had finished his. Excuse from what I think was the manager, but I could be wrong, when I tried to cancel my order was “we are busy” - no apology. At least when it arrived the food was pretty good.
Cups and plates had dried food stuck to them, tried to pick it off but it was too hard which was quite gross. They didn’t let me take my pizza home either, was about half left. Cheese sticks were a good size serving and the pizza was good but my family didn’t like it.
Great venue. The meal was delicious. Order via the app on the table is quickest. Catered to an allergy without issue. Lovely looking out the window at the creek. We enjoyed lunch and a shared desert. Yum! I think the tables need to be resurfaced they are very sticky.
Caught up with a mate for lunch here. Not a bad location near the beach with parking out the back. Meals are the standard casual pub fare - burgers, steak, fish and chips and parma etc. A good James Square beers available are available, I enjoyed the pilsner.
The Manager Matt's awesome customer service and contagious good energy & vibes made it a great experience despite food issues. The customer service by Matt impressed the whole table, great professionalism ✨️

Music was too loud in dinning area, felt like having to yell to have a conversation at only 8pm. Sweet potato fries are amazing, Squires Parma is small, overpriced & was served with cold chips. Pan fried, pumpkin gnocchi is lovely. Beer is Good.
Great decor, ambiance and beer but had just about the worst pizza I’d ever had. To their credit they replaced it but replacement was still fairly ordinary. Other family member’s meals were average. Would go back for a beer but not the food.
Never been here before but omg it is amazing The food was amazing and the James Squire ginger beer was amazing and one of the best ones on tap I loved it

A good location and nice ambience. The food is alright for the price but not really that great. Staff really doesn't check on you or anything unless you walk up to bar and ask for help if you need anything. But good experience overall.
Greek salad was a bit bland with no balsamic dressing. Other dishes were decent. Bartender was slightly condescending which is a bit of a turn off and will reconsidering returning.

We were staying at the Nightcap at the Cheeky Squire and opted to dine in. The dining room and bar were busy, we didn't book but might need to during holidays. Good service, nice pub style menu, we shared a meal with a side, all good.
The pizzas were a bit too spicy for my taste. Would have like to try some of their other menu items. Maybe next time. Great atmosphere for a group.

Won’t serve vegetables in lieu of salad unless you pay extra, $13 for vegetables, $13 for potatoes. Even though they are on the menu, ridiculous…

It's not bad, we requested a medium rare steak but got well done instead. Location is good and a warm atmosphere. Staff were friendly. 4 stars for the location and atmosphere, two for food so all up its a three. Just ok
Oh my gosh. Soooooo good. We chose the "6 for $65" and every piece was amazing. Delicious, fabulous serving sizes and the staff were awesome. Great vibe to the whole place, and the drinks were top notch too!
Large, open pub with beer garden. Plenty of space. Friendly staff. Broad range of beers in many styles, all from James Squire, which does limit it somewhat. Food is good, steak sandwich was cooked well.
Best seafood linguine I have ever had that is why I ordered it yet again. Service is without a doubt top class. Staff are so friendly and helpful.

The Scotch Fillet was one of the best I've tried. Highly recommended. The ambiance also was nicely set. It was a bit noisy but that's normal of a big place like there!
Nice venue with mixed quality for food. Burger was dry and the bun was over cooked. But Thai beef salad and barramundi were delicious.
