Not your average pub grub! No idea what the negative reviews from after this place reopening in May '23 are about, but everything was awesome for us! We found the wait staff to be highly attentive and very friendly. No wait to be seated or have orders taken. Wait time for food and drinks was very minimal. The fire crackling away as you walk into the dining room was also a very nice touch. We had a schooner of locally-brewed Venom golden ale and a pineapple daiquiri for drinks. Mains were chicken schnitzel (with gravy, chips, and corn on the cob) as well as the roasted half chicken & veggies with an extra side of chagrilled greens (brocolini in this case). Everything was perfection! The schnitzel and chips were amazing. Perfect crunch on every bite. The chargrilled corn on the cob with whatever wizardry was added to it for flavour was very tasty. The roast chicken was full of flavour, the veggies were perfectly cooked and also very flavourful. Each ingredient on your plate seems to have its own unique experience. Then came dessert. We had the banana tartare tartin (with rum ice cream) and dark chocolate tart (with stout ice cream). This was the perfect way to end our dinner. The chocolate, whilst dark, was not harsh on flavour and the texture was very creamy. The banana tartin was to die for! To walk away from that experience (2 drinks, 2 mains with an extra side, 2 desserts) for $134 was very reasonable. We are talking about very high-quality meals you won't get elsewhere for that money. We will be back and more than once.

Had been looking forward to going to this revamped gastropub (as I have fond memories of dining here from 10 or so years ago when I first lived in the area). The original Courthouse was a sleek, elegant pub with a lovely ambient dining hall. The revamped Courthouse is noisy and overbooked. The dining rooms were both cramped and far too noisy to have conversation, let alone enjoy a meal. And due to the volume of people, the upstairs dining room was far too warm. Both myself and my friend were uncomfortably warm throughout our dinner (which caused me to be violently ill immediately after eating). The wait staff were friendly enough and the food was good, however ambience is a big part of a dining experience, which unfortunately this place lacks. If this is run by the same owners as Naughtons, please replicate what works so well there (as Naughtons is a delight to dine at).
Absolutely massive Naughtons fans so very excited to hear they had purchased the local. Went in the first two weeks of opening and the service was a let down. Not busy at all, but it took ages to get someone to take our order, no second round of drinks offered, and the kids menu offered but no pencils despite the next two tables with kids given them without asking. The pencils were not even offered when they noticed him drawing with a pen. The food was served fast, but chips were a mix of cold and hot and the menu is limited. Would go back for a Sunday lunch as they look amazing but not rushing back with so many other local options with better customer service.

Friday lunch, I had the sausages and mash, which were really good. She had the chicken schnitzel, which was OK but essentially just deep fried with no feness or stand-out about it. Gravy was excellent though. Side of greens was a little sad and lacked colour and love but tasted nice. Overall it was a lovely experience and our waitress was awesome but the food and drink offering feels like it is trying to be something more but falling a little short. Will definitely be back and give this place a few more chances.

Not the venues fault but parking in the area is a nightmare.
I've been so excited to go here and my expectations were exceeded. We were a party of 6 and had entrees, drinks and dinner. The food was so delicious it was a struggle not to lick the plate when finished. I had the market fish, which was juicy and so flavourful. Friends had the schnitzel, which is on my hitlist for next visit (literally in a week), the chips were done to perfection... which we squabbled over like seagulls. It was busy but the staff were attentive, warm and welcoming, and the interior was beautifully decorated and detailed. Can't wait to go back and eat my way through the menu!

What a lovely, cosy place to visit. We tried all entrees and different main meals. Every single dish was amazing! Presentation was beautiful and the flavour of the food did not disappoint. The staff were very lovely and attentive to our table which made the experience so nice! The atmosphere was lively but didn’t feel overcrowded, we could still maintain a normal conversation without interruptions from outside noises. Cocktail selection is diverse and a good range, while the whole drink menu caters for everyone! Highly recommend for a group who loves great food with a comfy, warm and cosy vibe.

Noisy to the extreme with less than average food. We were a party of 8 last week and ventured there around 6:30 pm. The staff were great and we ordered with excitement to try what is now evident their overrated menu. I’m afraid all the party were disappointed with terrible steaks, tough, tasteless and not cheap. Thier famed beef pie was sinewy and fatty. We left disappointed which is a shame. Fancy a rowdy drinking venue, this is it. Until they sort thier food quality and probably the kitchen, to be avoided.

Was very pleased to see this place has reopened. Place was busy, which appeared a good sign. Service friendly and quick. Unfortunately let down by an adequate chicken schnitzel - usually a good pub test; lucky there was a small jug of gravy as was very dry without. Chips the same as can be found in other places, but the two small pieces of corn were most pleasant. Saving grace was the delicious wine, however this shouldn't be the main reason to visit. Will try again in case it was an off day...

such a good spot for dinner and drinks, especially after work or for a mid week pick me up. a casual yet still quite intimate feeling cosy pub, with their recent renovations really showing! service was quite friendly and attentive the entire night, and super accommodating to dietary reqs! we has some nibbles and drinks after work and it was perfect for a bigger group. we especially loved the chicken croquettes. nicely located in a writer spot of north melb too, court house is worth a visit!

Wow! This place is incredible. Recently reopened after a significant facelift, the fit out is divine. However the food is the reason to come! The chef is highly skilled in the culinary arts and will not disappoint! Amazing food, service, cosy atmosphere and a great selection of beers and wine to boot. If I could give 10 stars I would. I should have taken more photos but I was too busy enjoying my meal... Make sure you try the octopus.

What an amazing reno! Great to see this place come back to MORE than its former glory! More than a pub, this place is a great restaurant with tap beers! Small menu but everything is on point. With a super snug atmosphere this place is packed with Melbourne history and definitely worth making it your local. From the owners of Naughtons, this place will not disappoint.

Went to the Courthouse Hotel a week and a half ago with a group of girlfriends to celebrate a belated birthday. It was absolutely lovely! The staff were wonderful, and we were even given a surprise glass of bubbles each to celebrate the birthday in the group. The roast I had was one of the best I’ve had in recent memory. Highly recommended for its friendly staff, beautiful decor and relaxed vibe.

Very cool Art Deco building, tastefully renovated inside ... what an ambience. Will try their food next time ... as far as drinking place goes ... plenty to drink and just cool ... Limited choice for dessert ... but damn good that chocolate tart ... rich and just right ...

Me and my partner had walked past the establishment a few times and it was always packed. We finally went in on a less busy Thursday night for a drink and had a lovely time. The new renovations are stellar, the atmosphere both cosy and stylish. Would highly recommend, we will certainly be back for dinner as soon as we get a booking!

I love everything about this place. A welcoming team, understated but beautiful space- and food that does not disappoint. Highlight of my first visit was the edamame hummus, and I just finished eating the SUBLIME eggplant parmigiana on my second visit. Can’t wait to come back for a third round.

This is a decent enough place. The ambience and vibe is very nice. But the food for the price not great - steak tough and cold chips by the time they got out. Inattentive uninterested staff (although I have been here upstairs before and a different story). For the price (and it is station hotel prices) would expect better.

Tasty classic fare with a limited but solid drinks range. Helpful and somewhat comfortable service. And a cosy aesthetic that leans into the original art deco fittings and architecture. Who doesn't love a schnitzel served on 70's plates!

Very busy on a Wednesday night. We dined in the main room. Service was excellent and attentive. Was noisy at 7pm when we started but much quieter by 8pm. Food was good quality and good-sized servings. Only had plunger coffee, which was OK for late night but a bit bland.

Shared a lovely meal with friends at the Courthouse today. The staff were lovely, the food was great and special thanks to the Chef for the Pea & Zucchini soup for my husband. You went above and beyond, I can’t thank you enough for your special consideration. Would not hesitate to enjoy a meal there again. 5 stars plus.
A great new addition to North Melbourne. A nice change to the usual pub fair and a seriously good martini! Wine list is well put together too. Definitely worth checking out.

Underwhelming food. The menu was boring. $47 for a steak of which a fifth was inedible. Decor bland. We were in and out within an hour, a record for us, especially on a Saturday evening. The hotelier pre-COVID knew how to cater.

My new favourite local. The place is big yet has an impossibly cosy atmosphere, service was excellent and food and wine were delicious. The new owners have managed to make it stylish and modern while retaining its history. Best pub in North Melbourne by far.

Wonderful atmosphere. The owner is so generous of spirit, it’s difficult to not love him. So, yeah, he’s a great guy. Great beers on tap. The food is fantastic to say the least. Btw, the basic “bowl of fries” is freakin awesome. Great staff. Come and support this pub. It’s actually worth it. Cheers.
We went for food. The food was brilliant. The place doesn't have a lot of dining area and I'm not a fan of eating at high seats but it was good and the food was lovely. Some nice beers too.

Loved it, will be going back for the Weiner schnitzel. The braised cabbage was perfectly balance of sweetness acidity. Beautiful space, modern lift but respect to the history, just the right amount some retro elements. All together it creates its own identity, with a great vibe.
Recent renovations and new owners have revitalised this beloved corner pub. Its delicious lunch and dinner menu is full of hearty pub classics, delivered with a modern twist. With friendly staff and a welcoming vibe, there's no doubt this will be the new locals' favourite.
Gorgeous renovation, really cozy front bar and multiple dining room options. There is an elevated pub menu with daily specials and excellent services. We just had some small plates and a couple of pilsnersboth chicken and cheese starters were excellent. …
Loved the first experience. So much so, am coming back a second time within a week to support this freshly revamped establishment. A fantastic spot for a delicious take on your pub fare; great environment, with a top notch selection to wet the whistle …
I have been here a few times now, I am consistently impressed with the quality of the food and service for the price paid. I will be back again!

It pains me to write a bad review! I had high expectations when I saw 4/5 star reviews however, I was left deeply disappointed. Waiting more than an hour for our meals, the mushroom & truffle tagliatelle pasta was tough and tasteless. All
Still a lot to work out, perhaps getting up and running. Everything was WAY oversalted. I love salt but it wasn’t right. The schnitzel was tiny, it would appear they hadn’t even bothered to smash it out to flatten it. I love rare steak as
Fantastic new spot in north Melbourne. The renovation are reserved and tasteful. Feel classy but not pretentious. Could use a better cocktails list and some more/different beers on tap.
