I did not order anything here as I was expecting a cafe with menu and table service but my judgement was completely wrong. So this review is not at all about the experience or staff but more of the first impression of stumbling upon a so called “hidden gem” in this area. I’m personally a fan of takeaway joints that make themselves look like an eat in cafe restaurant. However the presentation of the place looked nice and I’m sure the food would be okay but I’m more inclined to pay for a freshly cooked and served breakfast meal as opposed to window food that doesn’t look that appealing. Especially for a place in a very random hidden location, you kinda want the most out the dine in experience so having the choice of pies and window food is quite disappointing. If you’re after a quick bite to go and coffee, I recommend this is the spot for you! But don’t come here expecting a full meal and restaurant/cafe feel.
Every day I tip $4 plus and buy my coffee milk and muffins. They are purposefully not stocking the flavour i drink. FOR instance it will be put on the shelves a day prior and the next day they will be replaced with a new flavour. I seem to be only person buying the stock. Judgemental doodle suckers. They don't discriminate fags but they will discriminate the victoms of gay pedophiles and rapeists. The diffrent name is to protect my identity from the public but you know who I am. 1 hour later I now have food poisoning. Did someone pay you a visit in relation to me yesterday arvo? I have been getting stalked by family and they target local buisnesses and use them.

Overpriced! Rude to customers. I was with a client. I took the client to this café as my previous experience was great . However this time around they had 'no mask no entry' which is absolutely illegal and we are exempt due to health issues. We purchased coffee and they told us to wait outside. Okay we understood that part. We then proceeded to eat something purchased from the café OUTSIDE the café and the old man came outside and rudely told us to move along. I was so embarrassed as I was the one that recommended this café to my client. I will never take clients OR MYSELF ever again to this place. They are better off staying hidden.
The best, cuties cafe I’ve been to in a while! Me and my boyfriend walked in last Sunday while driving through the area looking for something sweet. I got the Vanilla slice and he got the Salmon bagel, both incredible! The Salmon bagel was literally the best we have ever tasted!! The charmer service was great too! Both the chef and woman behind the counter where very talkative and friendly. Highly recommend, don’t drive through Portsea without checking it out!

The staff were lovely and the baked good were great! However the hot beverages were lukewarm and the coffee and hot chocolate were unpleasant to drink. May have just been a bad day in the office but left feeling a little disappointed.

Bit weird, no toilets, they don’t sell the menu the website links to, only served stuff from their glass cabinets. Nice spot but staff didn’t seem to wAnt to be there. Didn’t have a printed menu you could look over… could do better Hi bob - seems only way to message you is by Editing the review. 2nd jan, around 1:15. Was in the hot springs until just before one. Your other venue was the polar opposite, staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. G.
While the location is a bit hidden in a residential area it is so worth the effort to find it. By far the best expressions of meat pies and sausage rolls I have encountered in the state of Victoria. Although small inside there is plenty of outdoor seating. Great vanilla slice for dessert. Everything is fresh and what is visible that day is what is available typically. Highly recommended!

Friends and I came here back on the 17th of May with friends before the Hot Springs and had a great brunch. We had sandwiches and coffee. The two baristas I was with didn't like the blend but said it was made well. We had the best potato salad from there and we haven't stopped raving about it. The website, online info did confuse us but we quickly got the gist and sat around the corner at the tables and chairs - was really lovely
We found this place whilst on our way to the hot springs - and we are so glad that we did! The staff were super friendly, and the food was amazingly fresh. There was so much to choose from - so much that I couldn't pick a salad and so they kindly let me had a mix of them all :) superb food, a lovely environment, and really friendly people! They even contacted the springs when I accidentally left my bag there :) Thank you.
Perfect. Utterly perfect. Coffee was splendid, the food was scrumptious. Staff were delightful, to the point that I observed the owner chase down the rubbish truck to ensure the council worker departed with a complimentary coffee. Despite the blustery day, an air of friendly local chatter engulfed the place, clearly indicating that it has its fair share of local regulars. Once again the food was really good.
First, youve got to find the place ... thank God for Google Map ... It's definitely hidden in the burbs ... then that SAUSAGE ROLL ... c'mon down ... Will be back for more of that country feels and friendly service ...

Great little place for a bite just minutes from the hot springs tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. We ate just about all the meat pies, lasagna, and grill cheese sandwich, and all were delicious. My favorite was the scone w cream and strawberry jam. It's run by an amazingly friendly couple who obviously put a lot of care into serving fresh home cooked meals. Definitely recommend!
Came by this little place while doing a roadtrip. Staff was super friendly and the man working there (the owner perhaps?) is a real salesman ;) We went for coffee but he recommended a pastry to share as well and it was delicious! As we devoured the messy pastry one of the women came out and asks if she could take a picture of us haha, we had a great laugh there :)
Chatty friendly team served a beautifully creamy latté, and quite possibly the best ham and cheese croissant I’ve ever had. Sparingly-filled so you could actually taste the pastry, it was grilled not pressed, so remained light and fluffy and crispy and flakey. Outstanding!

If you haven’t tried Ian’s home made muffins you’re missing out. Big time. Amazing, yesterday was raspberry and white chocolate . Today is hazelnut and custard (Wipes crumbs off keypad) I wouldn’t go there for Ian’s or Bobs good looks, but the food and drinks are the best around, though that joint on the corner of Morris st is pretty good too.
Called in for coffee and something to eat. Lady serving seemed disinterested and said she would bring my order outside to my table. Ordered salmon bagel which should have only taken 3 minutes to heat up but after 10 minutes asked how it was going. I got an overcooked hard bagel. Unedited. Won't be returning there again anytime soon.
Friendly service, good honest food. Limited options, but what they have is fantastic. Not a traditional breakfast cafe with eggs & sides, so if you’re looking for that, go elsewhere, however the selection of breakfast and lunch options was more than sufficient, and delicious. Coffee was great and all was served with a smile!
Found this place while looking for somewhere to grab breakfast before the hot springs. So glad we did. Had a beautiful bacon and egg roll and amazing coffee. Service was amazing friendly and welcoming. Stopped back in on the way home for another coffee and to try the beautiful home made slices. Highly recommend stopping in.
Stopped here for coffee, sausage roll and vanilla slice after our evening at Peninsula Spa. All fresh, and all delicious - especially the vanilla slice... I have eaten many a snot block in my life, and the vanilla slice at The Hidden Kitchen does not have the texture of snot, it was so creamy and delicious. Perfection.
We had a pleasant experience at The Hidden kitchen. Ladies we’re warm , friendly and welcoming. Cute little outdoor set up and away from the hustle of Nepean rd. My sister said the Chicken and Bree roll was a hit Great coffee and the vanilla slice was awnnz Would love to come back again Thank you.
Definitely a hidden gem offering a lovely selection of lunch and breakfast items from the display cabinets. Coffee was good so no complaints. There's some outdoor seating but I think the locals tend to do takeaway. This place is good for the early birds as most of the cafes on the main road open at around 8am.
The day after Melb Cup day we popped in here for a quick coffee before heading out for the day. The coffee was good and the home made pastry was nice. It was pretty quiet during our visit, as just after a public holiday, which probably also means why there wasn't much variety of pastries on display. More
Hidden spot that opens before everyone else. Coffee was great and I had the best muffin of my life, fresh out of the oven amazing. Worth the trip if you are in town.

A great little oasis in the back streets of Tootgarook. A great place for breakfast and lunch with a selection of fresh rolls, prawn slider, croque monsieur, egg and bacon tarts and the delicious pies and sausage rolls. Coffee, tea and cold drinks all available to wash down the amazing food.
+ great taste... + really nice folks... + great vibe... It has a family business vibe which I liked. You have a number of options at this place, including vegan and gluten free. The coffee is great! The toasts are great for brunch. They also have a home made chocolate sauce, which I liked!
Great spot - often confused with it's sister The Kitchen which is only a few minutes away. The staff were friendly and quickly figured out we'd become confused between the establishments and directed us on where to get our sit down lunch. Great attitude and support of your franchise.

At 1st, I was just glad I didn't have to stress about competing for a parking spot first like the shops on the main Street. More enjoyable when you're relaxed. But the food was even better, prompt just what I needed when I've only got half an hour for lunch. THANKS LADIES
I have just moved in around the corner, I have been maybe 8 times in a 2 week period. The food never disappoints, the coffee is great, the service is exceptional. And for all these reasons it can get very busy quickly. Highly recommend!!!!

Very nice and wholesome Full Breakfast at this aptly named Hidden Kitchen hidden away near Rye on the Mornington Peninsula. The staff are friendly and the food is good. However, the number of seats are limited and there are no toilet facilities on site.
Food is too good and service was amazing. Can hardly believe we drove past this little gem twice before deciding to stop in. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Visited today for lunch and it's definitely a cute spot for a lunch break. We were surprised there was no menu or sit down cutlery though, I'd consider this place more of a bakery. Food was good though, we enjoyed our salmon bagel and sausage roll.
What a cool Little place, but a what a sad breakfast food...totally non inspirational serving.. had poached eggs on toast, with bacon and a quarter of a avocado ($5..extra), very dry thin slices of bread, 2 small flat and sad eggs..bacon
Its okay, good coffee, nice food but I always feel like the service is a bit slow if you order anything that needs heating/toasting (understand that you are finding it hard to get staff at the moment but this was also the case pre COVID
What a beautiful little cafe! Will definitely be back here every time I go to Rye. From the customer service to the food, we had a fantastic experience, there is nothing I can fault. Delicious food and the vanilla slice is to die for!

Popped by this cafe for a late lunch based on the reviews but found it very expensive - x3 toasted ham & cheese croissants for the kids cost $40. They say a fool and his money are soon parted and I am very much feeling the fool!
Great place to chill over coffee and food. We ordered their croissants and chicken pies. Highly recommend the croissants♡

This is an absolute hidden gem. Amazing coffee and fantastic baked goods. Staff are more than happy to help with recommendations. Great option for breakfast or lunch. Just don't expect poached eggs with sides.

Delicious pies and pasties- we tried the two curried vegetable variations and an almond croissant, and all three were fresh and really unique. Friendly service and a cheerful neighbourhood atmosphere :)
Was disappointed as seen this on tv. Extremely expensive- Paid $34 for a sausage roll, beef n mushroom pie and a can of drink. Vibe in the actual cafe was not the best. Don’t think I would visit again.
Best pies we’ve had in a long time. The vanilla slice was bang on as well. Friendly staff. We will be back for sure!

The best place to grab amazing coffee and quality food. The chef is an artist and all staff are so lovely. Locals can grab any essentials within walking distance. Really recommend
Delicious bacon and egg brioche bun and chai latte for brekky at the front bench. Also took the special muffin of the day for later- mixed berry with a dob of cream cheese- yummy.
