Went early on a Saturday to try this place. The place was kinda busy. Was not a lot of places to sit if you wanted. The service was fine but felt a little ignored as the workers finished orders. I got the pistachio croissant and a ham and cheese croissant. They were okay. I think the pistachio was too sweet and the croissant was a bit dry and lacked a buttery flavor. The ham and cheese was...not good. The ham was really wet and the inside was doughy. I hope that this place can iron out some of the crazy as they keep going forward because I'm excited for a bakery like this in the neighborhood.

To begin I think the products are overall good. The laminated dough is a bit inconsistent. The coffee is really good. I think it’s absolutely unacceptable and shady to not have prices for the items on the menu in store. I would of never ordered a 15$ breakfast croissant had I known the price. I assumed that it would not be more than 10$ when ordering, and that’s on me for not taking the time to ask but why make your customers take that extra step and feel uncomfortable. Even being laminated in house that is an excessive price for a basic breakfast sandwich with no side.

Stopped by while passing through Portland on my way to Seattle, hoping to try an ocean roll. When I arrived, the girl behind the counter sadly informed me that they were sold out. I wasn’t shocked since it was afternoon. But then she said she could give me one of the misshapen ones set aside for staff - and put 3 in a bag and handed them to me for free! Above and beyond! Not only does she deserve the tip she got, the bakery deserves this review. P.S. my ocean roll, though misshapen indeed, was delicious

You can smell how amazing this place is from a block away! If you like cardamom, the ocean roll is 100% for you. Even if you don’t like cardamom, I think it’s definitely worth a try. So so delicious! The inside had enough seeing for 15-20 people, so it got cramped kind of quickly, but there’s nice outdoor seating options too if the weather allows.

Called my order in on a Thursday before the Saturday I arrived to pickup. Sparrow didn't set aside or prep my order, and the items I pre-ordered were now out of stock with no alternative pastries for the bagels... Holiday times are extra tough when plans are made with a nice local spot, and they completely turn your day around like this. Guess I'll find elsewhere since this spot is not so reliable.. Tread cautiously when making a pre order, they may not pay enough attention to get it right.

my first visit was a great experience. i felt safe that they are still being cautious even when mask policy have been lifted. masks are still required at their business and they have a capacity. thank you their non-bacon sandwich was just what i needed on my day off. their espresso drinks are good and their ocean roll is popular for a reason. the employees were super friendly and sweet. i found my new favorite breakfast spot.

Pastries, coffees, bagels, and some sandwiches. They also have store-branded apparel for purchase. Absolutely love everything from this place. My favorite is the Lox Bagel. If you’ve never tried the ocean roll, then add that to your order; you will fall in love with Cinnamon’s sexy cousin, Cardamom. There’s a cult-following of Sparrow Lovers in Bend—it doesn’t get more local that n that. Shop local, support Sparrow!

Just discovered this place on a ramble through St. John's. A clean small space with outdoor cafe seating- benches inside for waiting. Terrific pastries- so good looking I bought three! There are also soup and sandwiches choices but did not try those. The cherry chorizo croissant is worth the trip alone. In the photos see also the pistachio croissant and the chocolate wheel. Diets, what diet?

The bacon croissant breakfast sandwich is absolutely delicious. From the flaky and buttery croissant to the garlic-y aioli to the crispy smoky bacon and perfectly soft egg. Utterly brilliant. As an added bonus the people that work there are also very kind and welcoming. If you need a new local coffee shop to make apart of your everyday routine, make it Sparrow.

Barista Shannon and Barista Baddie as they call her whipped up the best chai and bagel I’ve ever had. Not only was the food and drink delicious the people were kind. Also this lovely woman named Sarah dropped some informative information on the gluten science of the bagel and was very informative in picking a bagel flavor. I will be a sparrow customer for life

Out of this world!! Sparrow is the quintessential PDX experience. Fast and friendly staff. Amazing bacon croissant sandwiches with a surprise runny egg inside. Blow your mind pistachio croissant. And truly, their latte tasted like it was made by Aphrodite herself. Please, PLEASE visit Sparrow when you are in PDX. 30 minute drive is worth it.

One of the best Oregon bakeries. Thank you for keeping things in stock. Only reason it’s 4 stars not 5 is because you’re not being very proactive enough about crowding / sanitation during a “tripledemic.” Make free masks and hand sanitizer available and you’ll probably save a life a week ❤️‍in addition to bringing joy with yummy treats.

I plan to frequent Sparrow Bakery as often as I can! Not only did I have the most delicious breakfast sandwich of my life this morning, the staff were unbelievably kind and friendly to our group that took over the corner of the bakery. We had two babies in tow, and they made us feel so welcome. A delightful experience all in all!

A really cool pastry and coffee shop in the heart of St. John's area. The service is quick and friendly. My pastry today was this chorizo and cherry jam croissant. This was something that caught my eye and I'm glad I chose it. It was magnificent! I washed it down with my jasmine tea. I hope they do well out here.

Only been here once but their Bacon Breakfast Sandwich is to die for. Really nice location, as well, with limited seating inside but a few different places outside where you can sit and enjoy your coffee and/or food. I went on a Saturday and it seemed consistently busy, so expect some lines and waits

  • Mike Nohrden

They don't even list the prices on the menu. That tells me all I need to know. Asked how much a breakfast sandwich was and was told $15! I'm not overpaying for a tiny sandwich so they can pay their employees well. And then they expect a 20-30% tip on top of that. Nope. …

A must try!!! This place is a bit unassuming, but it packs a huge punch of flavor. The bacon breakfast sandwich is one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches of all time. The pastries were also delicious and worth trying. The ocean roll and Chocolatine were my two favorites.

  • Rochelle Rosenblatt

Great croissants breakfast, cute and clean location! Bagel was ok a bit hard and coffee was ok also, not big deal, but the croissants are amazing! The down side is very few tables to seat outside. Due to covid they could provide more outdoor seating !

  • Ruth E

Very popular bakery. Delicious pastries and the bagel and lox was yummy. Friendly staff and indoor and outdoor seating. Ocean roll is great- flaky and moist at the same time. Reminds me of some Indian desserts due to the cardamom and cinnamon spices.

This great Bend, Oregon bakery opened a location in St John's. You have to have the ocean roll and their banana bread. The breakfast menu at this location isn't quite the same as what you may be used to in Bend just yet as they're still

After living in Bend for 3 years and becoming faithful Sparrow customers, I was so happy when we moved back to the Portland/Vancouver area and they opened a bakery here. Nothing (really, nothing) beats a fresh Ocean Roll. The cardamom

Such good food and pastries! Pistachio croissant is a must and the breakfast sandwiches. Their Oat Milk Lattes are THICKKKKKK. Like overly thick. Almost like an egg nog consistency. Very strange, never had anything quite like it.

  • Melissa Lim

Newish St. John's location of the Sparrow Bakery where you can get the famed Ocean Roll in addition to other excellent baked goods and breakfast and lunch offerings, and coffee and tea. Only outdoor seating right now.

  • Kevin Cook

My wife and I have gone to this location on three separate occasions and each visit the staff has not been rude and our order has been wrong. Love Sparrow, but not the same experience as the one in Bend.

  • Andy Edick

Amazing pastries (Ocean Roll!!) and coffee! Also, the croissant breakfast sandwich, although expensive, is probably the best breakfast sandwich anywhere, period. Come and support this lovely bakery!

  • Krystal Rose

The Ocean Roll is incredible, and their croissant is fluffier than I’d expect. Service was delightful and fast for how busy they were on a Sunday morning. Their chai is also sweet and delicious.

  • Ali M

We visited two days in a row. Their baked goods are INCREDIBLE. I got a chai both times and it was very good too. Highly recommend and stop here if you are in the area.

  • Victor Smythe

Best croissant in Portland ❤️ I went 5 days in a row! The pistachio, chocolate, plain all delicious super yummy like France! The bacon, poached egg was fabulous also!

  • Melody Broten

Bright cheery bakery with an array of pastries and unique breakfast options. Their signature ocean roll is soooo good; you might want to pick up more than one!

  • Nun Yuz

I literally waited for my order for 45 minutes. I got a roll and a cardamom coffee. But the barista was so graceful and captivating to watch, I didn't mind.

  • theresa tice

Holy moly this place is flipping great. The ocean bread is great. The breakfast sandwich is great. Please just go there and take yourself to food heaven.

Nice little bakery down the street from Blue Moon Camera. I got the double chocolate cookie and pistachio croissant, both were tasty.
