I attended the 2 day turning lidded boxes course with Matt Dwight. What a fantastic course and professional set up. Matt was a patient and amazing teacher but also many industry tips tips from David. Very impressed with the set up and quality machiney supplied. I took my own turning tools which were bluntish. I used the great tools supplied but mine were quickly into razor sharp condition with their VICMARC CBN and Torkmark sharpening stations which included sharpening tips. Just a well appointed and well laid out workshop. The 2 day course was a joy and everyone treated with respect and genuine interest regardless of gender or experience. I previously attended a turning course out in Sydney's west a few years back. The teacher was excellent but conditions were horrendous with a few lathes set up inside an old shipping container. It was summer and ws like being on an oven sweatbox for 6 hours. So I was blown away when I walked into the Timber bit workshop. Well appointed, well laid out workshop ,quality tools and equipement which are well maintained by David. What a great business well run business... I'll be back !

We (husband and wife ) participated in the two day steam bending, shaker box course. Eliza was a geat instructor informative,helpful and friendly and David as her assistant was equally informative with amazing knowledge particularly about wood and other aspects of wood work. It was great to be able to make one box and learn the techniques then proceed at your own pace. The wood that we used was beautiful and having access to all the specialised equipment was a wood workers dream. We are already planning to do a more advanced class next year. Over lunch (which was supplied) we had some great conversations with the other class members and it was interesting to see what other people had been doing in the wood working and arts and craft space. Have a look at what Timberbits has to offer as I don't think you will be disappointed. We are looking forward to the classes in 2024.

Awesome woodwork shop. Particularly woodturning tools and supplies. First choice store for almost all woodworking relates items. Proprietor, David, is very knowledgeable and always happy to share insights and advice on tools, supplies and techniques he uses himself. I have changed my decisions on purchases based on advice received. I was interested in one of the sharpening systems he sells and he talked to me about the pros and cons of both systems. I ended up with the other one he sells for about the same money, and I'm genuinely delighted with the purchase. He has also gjven me insights into applying finishes - I was struggling with applying a CA finish on cufflinks, he made the comment to apply the finish with the lathe stopped (normally CA is applied with lathe running slowly). Great piece of advice. I'm very happy with the new approach, works beautifully well.

I'm based near Wellington in New Zealand. Our woodturning mentor / teacher suggested Timberbits as it was where he purchased most of his pen-making components and selected other consumables. My order was not large, but it was for items I could not find for net-ordering here. I was frankly amazed at the delivery time - TransTasman, COVID and all - with Timberbits getting the 'stuff' to me faster than vendors based in Auckland. Needless to say, what I received was exactly what I'd ordered and all in good condition. The follow-up has also been great. It's so, so, so nice dealing with a company that has people willing to be seen and to engage with customers. I've barely scratched the surface of what Timberbits provides, but their service ethos and their delivery is simply top-class. I'll use them again. I want to support a vendor that aspires to operate in this way.

I ordered a chisel set on line, I was a bit hesitant since it was in AUSTRALIA, my payment went through and 2 days later I was notified the order had not been shipped..they wanted a copy of my ID and credit card! ... we will require you to provide us scanned copies of your identification in order for us to verify your identity. Could you please email back a scanned copy of your identification such as a driver's license that includes your stated address, as well as a copy of the credit card you have used to complete your online purchase. I HAD ALREADY PAID AND IT HAD BEEN PROCESSED! Who is running the billing dept a koala bear? They refunded me and were kind about it ..Gday I guess

Attended the 5 days of turning class and I learned so much, it was an amazing class and Simon Begg is a great teacher. David has done so much to make sure that the classes are well run, from the simple things of proving a nice lunch each day to the more complex things of ensuing that the lathe is set at the right height for me (I’m a little tall) and all the tools are well set out and there is an amazing selection of wood available to turn. I was so impressed and loved all the pieces that I was able to turn. I can’t believe what I was able to get done in the 5 days - it exceeded all my expectations.

Ordered some very unique "blingless" pen kits from Timberbits, in Australia, a while back. The idea of being able to turn your own bands, finial caps, etc. is quite intriguing. Timberbits also sells a wide range of clock making supplies, which is something I've recently gotten into (along with other kinds of gauges: temp, pressure, etc.) Shipping from Australia to the US was, surprisingly, given the times and shipping issues these days, very very fast! Henry from Timberbits sent some emails asking how the kits were and how the turning was going. Very personable guy! I appreciate that in a seller!

I attended the sharpening course held over the weekend and we were really well looked after all weekend and I gained some life long skills and a new attitude towards keeping all my tools sharp. We covered plane blades, chisels, kitchen knives, wood turning tools eg, skews, gouges, parting tools and a few more that i probably forgot to mention. We even covered how to look after planes and basic restoration tips for old tools. I loved every minute of the course and i can't recommend the course highly enough and even escaped with no band aids from the newly sharpened tools. :)

Massive range and knowledge to boot!! Met the owner David and had a great talk, showed me the correct things to buy even though it meant i was spending less!! I love my hamlet tools and so glad i came here. Online shop is great too whick i regularly use! Their pricing on pen turning gear can not be beaten, only wish was that pen kits were sold in 20 or 30 mixed packs or different styles and finishes like PSI do, pricing is spot on after the aussie dollar conversion but the 3 week wait from the USA is killing me, my next batch will be from Timberbits.

I went to Timberbits website to purchase cactus juice for resin stabilising of soft woods. The website was easy to use and delivery of product was very quick and well packaged. The customer support at Timberbits has been exceptional. I had trouble with a few parts I'd ordered and the support staff were very responsive: returning calls within minutes, sending me the bits required to make repairs, remembering who I was, and making sure the issues were solved. In spite of the problems, I give them 5-stars as the parts with issues were not items they had much involvement with, but they still provided full support.

I have just started making these pens with my Yr 8 students, and they love them. It is a very engaging project, and they are all eagerly learning about wood lathes, which have sat idle for many years in our building. It is a great sight to see them coming to life again. The facilities are really good, the tools and materials are very well prepared, so there is a lot of time to focus on learning and practicing the techniques.
