My mom and I went shopping at this ulta for my birthday, and since they have a salon; I wanted to treat myself to a wash and blowout. I went to the salon and asked if they had any availability. The stylist told us yes, that she would be able to take us both. When she offered a treatment, I said yes why not. The treatments she gave my mom, she did it at the chair not the sink, she was so rough on my mom - when it was time for the blow dry - she gave my mom a helmet look, instead of fixing it she added this gel like product at the root that made my moms hair oily at the root. Then, it was my turn. I have had the chem shot done on my hair before so I was excited! My hair was in a bun all day so my ends were tangle and I knew my hair needed the treatment. She pulled the ponytail out, pull at my hair so rough I was like dang. When it was time to shampoo, she literally didn’t even washed my hair good, she concentrated on my crown area, when she applied the chem shot, again only at the top, when clearly my ends needed more. She didn’t brush the treatment through my ends. Didn’t even brush the hair out to remove the hair that falls out everyday. As I was walking to the station, I was brushing my ends with my fingers to untangled my ends. She then proceeded to brush my hair so roughly it was so painful. The blow dry, my scalp was burned and again I had a flat oily and smelly hair. When my mom and I left the store we were both complaining about our scalps. We both had to wash our hair when we got home. My hair took three washes before I was able to get the smell out. My moms hair was so dry, she has natural salt and pepper hair, and it’s so soft and smooth. She was frizzy for like 2 days. Then, she noticed that her ears were burned at the tip, and now has dry patches and I had to cut a few inches off to make my hair feel healthy. For $145 dollars it was not worth it.

Don't come to this location unless you look the part. Came in and asked to be assisted with a foundation color match. After the girl named Nathalina put foundation on 1/4 of my face, I kindly asked for makeup remover. She said there were none and I could simply grab tissues and use alcohol to wipe off my makeup. Um. Are you out of your mind? After giving her an "Are you serious?" look she went to get adequate makeup remover pads. But seriously? She couldn't have offered from the beginning to wait a second and then proceeded to get makeup remover instead of telling me I could use the alcohol on my sensitive skin? Then, my shade was not available. Typically at all the other locations, the employees will offer to order it online for me so I can have it shipped to my home. I asked her if she could do that, and her response was 1. She wasn't sure and 2. Sure, but **I** could order it myself. Are you not trained? Even when she asked another coworker, he even looked at her as to say "duh?!" Lastly, I returned to checkout a hairspray bottle by a prestige brand. The cashier then, named Stephanie clearly did look down on me. I didn't have a face full of makeup but my purchases were all high end. Clearly, people pick and choose who they are kind to at this location. This store is trash along with its staff. They follow you around. Are rude and lazy. Not coming back. So sad. I'll stick to giving my loyalty to the Michigan Avenue location where you can walk in looking like a glam queen or your every day casual and still get treated with respect. Customer service goes a long way.

I normally don’t write reviews but I am incredibly annoyed after leaving this location. I kept getting approached by staff if i needed any help looking for products. I had a small list but was also looking to browse. I eventually asked one staff member for help locating a specific brand. The first employee claimed to not be able to find the brand I was looking for, telling me the product I was looking for was bad and not needed at my age. She recommended a much more expensive product, which Ulta was conveniently doing a promo for at the time. After continuing to look around the store, I asked another employee to help me locate the original brand, as it was listed as in stock at the store on the app. He walked me to the brand, which was there. However, proceeded to tell me the product was a poor product with poor ingredients. He then conveniently recommended a different product, of the same high-end brand the first associate recommended. While, I appreciated the attempt at recommendations, I went into the store for a specific product and was frustrated the sales associate would not just help me locate the item. I felt talked down, given unwarranted advice, and pushed into products that I did not want to buy. I also no longer had a desire to browse the store after these interactions and checked out immediately, after getting what I came for. I will continue to shop at Ulta, but will now only do pickup/order online after these interactions with the pushy associates.

So I usually never ever post reviews but I need to say I will never go back to this location again. First a few months ago Brian completely ruined my right eyebrow, which still is completely messed up even 3 months later. Then a few weeks ago Olivia completely wasted my time and money. I went to her a couple times for hair cuts and partials. Wasn’t too bad. And all of the times I had talked to her about not wanting my blonde hair to be so yellow, orangey, and brassy. She did a full highlight combined with a balayage. While also having another client at the same time, and then to which had a third client in a chair while finishing my blowdry. The entire appointment she was going between multiple clients, I have never seen that before in my life. Spent hours there and was never offered a water bottle but I heard the second client get offered one. And the end result of my hair is straight orange/yellow. It looks horrible and I spent over 300 for haircut and highlight with a 25 percent tip for both(got haircut on Friday and color on a Monday), bc even though I’m disappointed she still provided the services and should be paid. I’m just so disappointed and wish I hadn’t went. There was a mixup with the appointment and she was able to fit me in for a color before going On vacation and I wish I had left it alone. Now I’m stuck with the is ugly hair that looks like it’s from a box.

After calling corporate and finding out they lied to me and made up false policies I felt the need to write a review. First review I ever wrote. Forget about getting honest recommendations or anything they tell you. You will be followed around the store and have set of eyes stare at you the whole time. Really can’t enjoy shopping when multiple employees keep popping next to you every second. They have their own rules and treat you depending how they are feeling for the day, very biased service. They won't honor anything corporate has established and make up their own policies so forget about what "Ulta" says. Your purchases, Ulta rewards, experience and etc., doesn’t matter. They just want your sale... This store went disorganized or either is unorganized in many aspects. Signs of brand names are not in correct shelves for correct products making it hard to find products. They are more busy with other things instead... Manager is unwilling to work with you, so you'll have to go to corporate or forget about any of your concerns. He is there only for the paycheck. If I could give no stars, I would.

The store is great. ..wide selection. But the employees are AWFUL! Everytime I go here I am never greeted. Last wk I went to splurge on a bunch of products for my birthday. .I was ready to shell out a few hundred but never was I ever asked if I need assistance. Usually I'm hounded by sales people who actually want your business. Employees passed right by. Gossiping to one another--helping no one. I spent nearly 2 hrs in there searching for my shade in foundation ..lipsticks etc. In fact another shopper and I ended up helping each other find close shades. Pretty sad when there were like 20 employees around. We talked about the awful service, bought a bare minerals foundation and I left. If it weren't for her helping me out, I would have just left altogether. They don't deserve business. Poor service. .don't go here for advice. Only go here if you know what you need or for refills.

I’m disappointed in Ulta as a company as a whole more so than just this particular store. I checked online to see if this particular location had the Dyson Airwrap, and it should an available unit. When I arrived and inquired, I was told they don’t and the website might not reflect actual store inventory; best way to find out is to manually call and ask. I called a nearby store and they had a unit but couldn’t reserve it (understandably given the high demand for the product). When I arrived to the store, I asked an employee and seemed to take more than 15 minutes to grab the unit. At checkout, I was told that if I applied for the credit card I’d get 20% off. There was an issue with the application (on their end); eventually the manager gave me only 10% off. Had this not been a gift, I would have gladly bought it online or waited for another retail store to restock.

worst Ulta ever and not because of this experience but just because it’s not the only bad one I had .. I like to shop to distress myself but when you go to a store with rude associates that’ll never happen.. very disappointing because I used to come to this location quite often but not anymore ..at check out cashier Stephanie did not share a single word with me because she was busy flirting with my Husband nothing wrong with that at all when one is not informed but after my husband made it clear we were Happily married the cashier added on her comments by saying “if it doesn’t work out...” and looked over to my husband....... I honestly could not believe it... my husband and I laughed and walked out.. I don’t know who in a right mind would say that but definitely not acceptable especially at a work place.. .. Ulta needs to be sure of who they employ

I have been coming to this location for a few years now. The last few visits have been a customer service nightmare. I was told they didn't carry a product and after searching for it myself I found the product. Today I couldn't find anyone on the floor to help me to check if a product was in stock since only th tester was on the shelf. The girl at the register seemed bothered by the fact that I asked her if she could check on the product. She then responded someone would check for me but I would have to wait sinc she was busy. The store was empty so I'm not sure what she could have been busy with. I asked how long the wait and she simply said I don't know while summoning another customer. I'm not sure if it's under new management but I def won't be shopping there anymore. Shame on them.

There wasn’t a problem with the Ulta itself, fine selection and it didn’t seem disorganized or anything. However, when my friend and I entered none of the workers greeted us despite it not being super busy. The entire time we were there every other customer was greeted, but the workers seemed dismissive of us and barely paid us any attention. Not sure why but whatever. Also when I checked out the worker, Bianca, asked if I wanted to enter a phone number to get points, I said no. She entered in her own email which i could clearly see in the checkout to get points from my purchase. This is incredibly wrong for so many reasons. I get the points were “going to waste”, but that’s not an excuse for that and it’s just disrespectful, I feel at least, to profit off of my purchase.

I have found everyone in the store to be very nice. I have been getting my hair done at the salon for the last few months. Olivia (stylist) is extremely talented but she's also extremely unreliable. My second appointment there she didn't show up. Thankfully, her co-worker was available to do my hair. Since this time she has been late to 40% of my scheduled appointments. Not just 5-10 minutes but 20-30 minutes. It's a shame because she knows what she's doing but I need someone more dependable. For this reason I am going to another salon. I wish they could enforce time management and dependability and how important this is but that probably won't happen. Someone that talented should understand how important being on time is to people. It's a respect thing.

One of the beauty consultants that works there, recommended certain products that were way over my budget, being that I took her word for it, (shame on me) she proudly spoke of the Estee Lauder Cell cream and how it would work best on aging and spots and so forth. So I bought it, ugh, huge MISTAKE! While I was still debating between Boots No 7 and this Estee garbage, she was relentless on making that sale, she showed me other products and proceeded to touch my face rubbing it and pointing out that I have acne and wrinkles....WOW! But overall the product was absolutely horrible for ME, I broke out all over my face with a horrible rash and all I can say....why fix something that isn't broken. Boots No 7 is it for me.

**Zero Star Rating** We felt very uncomfortable at this location. I went with my wife and daughter. Once we got there and split, I went to to men's cologne section and my daughter and wife to the make-up section. I noticed the tall security follow me and even looked over the display to see what I was doing (while I was checking a cologne). When we left, I told my wife and daughter what the security guy did. My daughter told me she had a store employee (the same girl with the fake long lashes) go up to her 5 times asking her if she needed any help. All this was very unnecessary. This is my daughter's Go-to Store for make-up. Made me and my family feel uncomfortable and maybe not come back to that store ever again.

My birthday is for tomorrow and so I treated myself to get my hair done. I did it somewhere else. I wanted ash brown balayage but it turned out to be very orange-y color. I paid $150 and felt helpless because the person that did it won’t fix it. So, I came to this store to buy some blue shampoo and asked someone to help me find one. I felt so bad for not getting her name, on my receipt it says her name was Tami. I cried because of so much frustration on how my hair turned out. Tami helped me get a blue shampoo and gave me all these other samples for free to make me feel and make my day better. I wanted to say again, THANK YOU!!!! From the bottom of my heart!!! People like you should be blessed.

This ULTA is not hard to find, accessible via street or expressway for me, has ample parking. The ambience, general atmosphere and design of THIS store is even better than Suburbia. ULTA Clybourne Square is different from the suburban ULTAs I'm used to, but not going to anymore. The staff here (from person answering phone, person who made my hair appointment, person greeting me at door, salon reception, stylist's assistant, to the Master Stylist and Sales staff) is fantastic; everyone makes you feel comfortable and welcome. REAL people HERE. Everything is better organized and sections are visible. There's more room to BREATHE here. I could go on, but won't... 5 big stars.

The last time i got my hair cut and styled there was with Maria. She was great! I was the last appointment of the day and she still took her time with me to make sure i loved it, which I did! I wish I could just give her 5 stars. But I had to update my review because the store has changed since I first made the review. The people here aren't as helpful as before. Maybe it's new people. Honestly I think it was a manager I talked to last time for help and she was not helpful at all. I felt as if I was bothering her asking for a product I couldn't find, which they were out of. Not my fault why they were out so, not sure why she was rude with me.

I was recently at this location this past week and I have to say the employees are very patient when it comes to rude customers. There was only one cashier up front checking out an entire line of people and the young lady in front was very professional and calm with the customer who was upset about an item that was not in stock at the store. The customer caused a scene over something so small and then proceeded to toss the item on the counter and stormed out. Unfortunately, I was too far in line to see what it was, but the young lady kept calm and continued to check out customers. Kudos to the cashier for keeping cool.

I visited 2754 N Clybourn Ave Spc A2, Chicago, IL 60614 to get my pickup order on Thursday January 27th. I decided to look around for a silk hair wrap, and was approached by an older (45+) blonde employee with a short/Bob haircut. She complimented my outfit and then said my bag was cute. She then held my bag with one hand and looked into it. I didn’t think anything of the exchange until today when I realized she was checking to see if I was stealing. The only reason I thought of the encounter was because I saw a friend of mine had a similar experience elsewhere. Shame on Ulta for hiring such ignorant people.

I felt very uncomfortable visiting this Ulta location on 7.26.22. I went into this store looking for a birthday present for a friend and to buy myself a cologne. Within seconds of entering the location it was clear that the manager had the security guard follow me around the store and practically stand next to me the entire time. The security guard made it so obvious even the store associates seemed to feel uncomfortable with the situation. I am not sure if the manager has ever seen a person of color walk into that store. Will never be visiting that location and will be calling by corporate.

Brian from the benefit brow bar is the best!!! I was driving all over the city looking for a new brow product and no one at the any of the other Ulta stores would help me. I finally made it to the Clybourn location and Brian found the product and I was able to purchase two of them and a brush. He even told me how to use the product and how amazing the product is. The lead cashier was amazing as well. I didnt learn her name but today she was wearing a pink blazer. She was determined to help me find that product as well. I love this store!!! Friendly and very helpful!!

If you are young, outgoing, dress well, like loud music, and being pestered by the over abundance of staff- you will LOVE this place. If you dress for comfort, just want one specific product, have any type of crowd anxiety, dislike being upsold by every staff member you run into around every bloody turn, and do not enjoy being followed like a hardened criminal as you search uselessly through the store for hair coloring - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Being OBVIOUSLY followed by a uniformed staff member was just the absolute top. There is a reason buying on line is so popular.

Poor customer service! Manager and the associate at the register where both rude and made a simple situation rise to an extremely unpleasant experience. Situation was extremely simple - a product was mislabeled for a cheaper price and instead of honoring the price they were both combatant and rude. My wife showed them the mistake and they acted annoyed and declined to offered to change the price. It wasn’t until my wife decided to ask for the manager that they decided to change and correct the price. I guess we won’t be stoping at this store anytime soon!

The worst hair color experience ever. There is no change in my hair color at all. I went for full highlights and the stylist asked me to add root melt service which would apparently blend the roots to the highlights. And did nothing. I have no change in my hair color and they charged me $200 for nothing. The stylist didn’t even ask me how I wanted my hair to be styled. She gave me a pathetic blow dry. I sat there for close to 4 hours and nobody had the audacity to offer me a glass of water. Worst experience ever. Wasted my money for absolutely nothing.

Only giving the second star because of the store reps that we’re attempting to help me in spite of my experience with the management of the store. It was my 50th birthday and I was visiting Chicago. I was so excited about getting my makeup done to go out on the town that evening. I was told that couldn’t happen because corporate was there. Pushy and uncouth! Standing next to my friend and since we're both brown, the cashier assumed we were related....we don't look alike at all. But the worst part she called me her Mom, and kept pushing the Ulta cc on me, I wasn't buying anything. She was insisting that I get a card so that my friend could get a discount. The ladies who are supposed to help you find the best product... Well they were just as much fun! P.s. - my friends could easily pass off to be in her 20's.... And I definitely don't look like I could have a kid that old...

This store has an amazing selection and for someone inexperienced like me, it felt a tad overwhelming UNTIL, their store worker Elliot helped me and gave me amazing insight into the right mask for my VERY specific requests. I have used the product Elliot helped me in picking out and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I am so grateful for Elliot’s knowledge and care in listening to what I needed. 10/10 will go back to this location, even though I have stores closer to me. All thanks to this very qualified and caring individual!

Stopped in this morning to get foundation - sadly this location doesn’t carry Clinique makeup so I couldn’t get it but I was helped by a really friendly, fun employee and will be making all the excuses to go back to this location because of my good experience and the fact that this place seemed full of sweet employees. (The girl that helped me today had black hair and a black mask, and bold and beautiful blue and green eye shadow. I wish I had her name but I don’t hoping someone knows who I’m talking about!)

Racially profiled at this location by the white woman who was greeting people at the door. It was at approximately 2:25pm. She greeted me twice asking me if there’s anything she could help me look for I politely told her I was just looking she then proceeds to look me up and down and say “you look like you’re on a mission” wow I guess that’s key word for you look like you’re going to steal because I’m brown. So unwelcoming. & let me mention she didn’t greet anyone else after me. She was very pretentious.

I went into the Ulta store for the first time at a meet and greet . It was so much fun !! I loved it and I could not wait to go back again. When I went back I wanted to try some makeup as I am just starting to wear it. I was so excited as I found a cc crème that is just perfect for me. The prestige makeup consultant was so very helpful showing me the cc crème and blending it on for me. She was so sweet and really helped me a lot. Her name was Jessica. Ulta is my favorite store !!

I work in retail and when this exact situation happens we always take care of the customer. I went to use my reward points to buy some items. I went to pay for my items and the associate stated that the rewards were not there. They probably expired. Mind you I have been sick for over month unable to go out. The associate stated that there's nothing she can do and proceeded to ring me and give me my total. The whole point to shop was to use the rewards. Bad check out experience.

The best sales associates. They are friendly, extremely knowledgeable and super helpful. My daughter is a dancer and uses a lot of lipstick. I bought a liquid lipstick in April and she finally used it a few weeks ago and didn't like that it bled. Not only could I return it, but they gave me a better product and educated both my daughter and myself on how to make it last. Love, love, love everyone at this store! This store is the best! Great store. Always clean and organized. Cashier today was a little on the rude side and very dismissive. I know I only purchase 3 little items but can u offer me a bag. I will pay for it. But didn't offer pushed my little items and receipt my way and called the next person over without a second glance to me or to see if I had stepped away. Go figure. Maybe will have to suggest my 2 daughters; of makeup age mind, you shop at sephora.

I went in for a brow tint at the benefit bar. I usually go to boutique shop but went to Ulta because it is closer to me. This tint came off in less than 48 hours. I know not to scrub, exfoliate, etc. Yet when I called and asked what the issue was, they asked me how long the tint was left on for (not my job) and said ‘yeah I guess it just depends on the person.’ Extremely disappointed with the experience and how it was handled after.

Staff here was super helpful! I was looking for a palette that has been out of stock at a few different Ultas, and while they didn't have it in stock here, Elliot and another woman I didn't catch the name of were dedicated to making sure there wasn't a single one hiding somewhere in the store. I really appreciate their effort and the time they spent trying to help me find what I needed. Thank you!

When I come in the store I'm greeted by security...I think that was the only attention I got. All the staff was socializing and putting makeup on or on each other. Of course they finally acknowledge me but I'm already put off by their intial reaction and rather just take the time to go through every mKeup myself. The best ulta location in my opinion for customer service is the one at the hip plaza....

I couldn’t recall what shade of a product I bought previously and didn’t have cell service to look in my email. While cashing out, I asked manager Jessica if she could look through my previous transactions. She refused and told me I could just return the product if it’s not the right shade. Overall very unhelpful and unfriendly. Probably the worst service I’ve ever gotten at this location.

So great!!! The lady helping me and my family was so helpful!!! We went for the James charles palette and it was sold out but she was very helpful in telling us when it would be back in stock!!! She also told us which palettes were good quality and pigmented and which ones were not!!!! She also helped my little sister pick out a PERFECT and pigmented palette for her!!!

Nicole and Jevita were so professional and patient, along with the security guard. I forgot to grab his name but I came in August 24th! This Ulta isn't the biggest, but it still has a good selection and convenient location. There's always someone willing to assist you although I did have one experience where it was frustrating being asked every couple of minutes if I needed help so I just left it was uncomfortable, but I haven't had that happen again luckily. It's stocked well and clean too.

I had an issue trying to pay with my card while placing an order, but mackenzie was very helpful and patient the whole time. Ask for her when you need help! The girl next to her with purple colored hair was very rude, and making faces assuming I didn’t have money to pay. Please reconsider having her work with customers knowing she has an attitude problem.

I always buy my cologne from Ulta. I visit with my girlfriend and despite hovering around the same area in the store for men's products I am not regularly accosted asking if I need help when I don't. The manager was horribly rude and unhelpful. She refused to honor an online coupon while in store because she said she couldn’t put her in her system. About an hour later or trying to figure out my order, I found out this was a lie and she could, in fact, put the coupon in her system. Will not be returning to this location.

Extremely disappointed with the staff. They made my partner and I feel like we were stealing as we were both deciding on which fragrance to purchase. The discomfort and tension was at all time high as the security guard and staff kept circling around us the entire time to monitor and make us feel unwelcome and unvalued.

Friendly employees - I enjoyed good customer service on both of my visits to this location. Wish Ulta carried more higher-end brands like Make Up For Ever, Chanel, Kerastase Haircare and Pat McGrath.

I have gone there a few times. It has people who have helped me find exactly what I needed and some things I didn't know I needed. I did have one time where I was just looking and asked like 5 times if I needed help. I understand wanting to help but it was a lot. Besides that one time, I have had a good experience.

This location is the best I've visited. I recently had a bad experience at another location and decided to try this location. The customer service was great, specifically the service I received from Brandy and Elliot. They ensured my needs were met and that I left a satisfied customer! This is my go to store now!

Nice store. Customer service, not so nice. I didn't write a review the first time, but this is the second time I've walked in there and the service is not so great. Store is nice, but you can tell some of the products at check out haven't been touched since you can see a layer of dust of them, lol.

Good variety of products but can be very pricey depending on what you buy. The staff is friendly but needs to offer help a little more it was very dead in that store. Don't get enough help stood around at the register for a while with 3 people working it and 2 customers besides me.

The staff is so rude here. I walked around for 25 mins looking for someone to help me with a product I was looking for. When someone did help me, they acted like they were so bothered. Also the hours are not the same as posted on their door and what google says. Will NOT be back!

Plenty of free parking on the large lot shared with other business. Plenty of products and well priced, the service could be improved but it's OK. Many products for women and some for men. When I am looking for a gift this sometimes is where I stop by as well.

Felt uncomfortable with the employees. Approached me too much asking if I needed help. It seemed like they were checking up if I was trying to steal. One certain employee didn’t take her eyes off me. Had to leave because of how uncomfortable I felt.
