WS Jenks is the bees knees. I ordered a Sawstop tablesaw and they were VERY helpful. They had a guy come deliver it to me and I think they even have a service to set it up for you which I didn’t opt for…but kind of wished I did while I struggled with the 500lb beast in my shop. The thing about WS that they didn’t tell me about was their rewards program, which is pretty good and I’m glad I opened what I thought was a piece of junk mail which turned out to be a $90 gift card essentially. I purchased a dado brake for my new favorite saw with them after my superb experience buying my saw. I couldn’t find one in the tablesaw area so I had to ask am employee for help who went into the back to go get one. I’m not really sure what the story was on it, but the box said dado brake, but the actual product inside was a standard brake – so there was no way it would work with a dado blade. I of course didn’t know this and it sat on a shelf for a few months before I got my dado blade. After 3 months, the receipt was long gone, I realized what had happened and was very upset. I left a poor review and the very next morning they contacted me. WS Jenks offered to ship me a BRAND NEW dado brake so I wouldn’t have to drive up again from southern MD. They even offered to pay return shipping on the bad brake which was now covered in sawdust from being in my tablesaw and without a receipt. Their customer service is top notch and they go beyond most other companies these days. They have a really nice store that I love visiting and all the staff I have worked with has been super duper helpful and really knowledgeable. They bent over backwards multiple times for my business and I’m a happy customer.

Truly a gem. Their inventory is suited for everything from minor DIY repairs to full scale crafting and contracting. And they will go the extra mile. I've had them special order parts for me. I've been offered tool rental. And I even had them take a part out of a larger kit in their shelves and sell it to me when none of the universal replacements would work, thus taking on the task of contacting the manufacturer for a replacement instead of leaving that to me. A good hardware store is increasingly hard to find. Even the ACE stores in the area are hit or miss these days (and forget about the big box stores). Jenks stands out and serves as an example of what a hardware store *should* be. Give them your support and I promise you, they'll support you in return.

I was able to order an item online from this store which was impossible to find anywhere else (local or otherwise!) so that is already one reason for a positive review. Then they had someone call me to make sure I'd seen the email stating that the item had arrived - - which I had not. And finally, today when I called asking about the store's hours and trying to take some extra care regarding preventing CoViD transmission, and then arrived to pick it up a few hours later, the woman who both answered the phone and brought me the item went above and beyond what I'd expected. It's a bit of a drive for us, but we'll definitely use this hardware store more in the future.

Really helpful staff and they have just about anything you could ask for. They will take the time to walk through a project with you and give you advice. It's also family owned, which is great. Prices are competitive and the experience is worth any premium you pay to avoid the big box stores. Great selection of tools, home repair supplies, grilling gear, and they have a nursery on the roof! They even get the schools involved through gardening programs and partner with a local CSA. Love this place.

This is a neighborhood treasure, please check out this awesome small business for any and all home and garden needs. Besides having a huge inventory and rooftop garden, their staff are skilled, kind and patient and go above and beyond to help customers—whether it’s finding the right tool or product, offering advice, or even rolling up their sleeves to solve a pesky repair problem. They have been an invaluable resource in my first years living in DC. Thankful to have such a gem in the neighborhood!

This place is great. This place has been amazing to us since we moved to the neighborhood 4 months ago. We had an emergency with our shelving coming out of the wall, and the staff took time to explain what we needed to do to repair our shelving. They are courteous and helpful--now we make sure to stop by before any DIY project to make sure we have everything and know what we are getting in to. Great selection, great prices, THE MOST HELPFUL STAFF you will find for a hardware store.

Never a bad experience at Jenks. The staff cares, and they really know their stuff. You know, how hardware stores used to be? I didn't know stores like this still existed. Their inventory, services and prices are amazingly competitive, too. Pretty much anything you can get or do at Lowe's, you can get or do here. Do yourself a favor and shop here. Support a local business and feel good knowing you got everything you need at a great price.

I cannot be more happy with my experience at this hardware store. Jerry went out of his way to help me and give me crucial advice for wood work project that I am working on. David was also extremely knowledgeable about things as specific as nail finishes and purposes. the staff was kind and helpful. This is my new hardware store. I will come back and bring others too. I can’t see myself going back to the big name stores Anymore.

This location is well-stocked with a large range of tools (fine cabinetry machines, safety gear, painting tools, etc.), some simple household goods (pet care accessories, portable heaters, etc.), and basic construction materials. The staff are friendly and professional, and the retail floor is organized and clean. Certainly worth a visit, even if only to assess the stock for future use.

Large and spacious hardware store in the old school sense. The staff is knowledgeable like Fragers of yore without the crowded piled aisles. The rooftop garden is a work in progress, but the space should prove incredible before long. Nice tool selection, garden section is adequate but slightly slim on choices, the upstairs has a little bit of everything else.

Great selection of hard to find/quality brands--without the Ace Hardware exorbitant prices; I'd rather buy a quality tool that's slightly more expensive that will last much longer than some junk from HD or Lowes. Moving forward, I will come here before visiting the big box stores--but I think price matching would be a great marketing tactic here.

This is the best new development on Bladensburg Road NE! The folks at W.S. Jenks & Son transformed a neglected building into a wonderful community resource with all of your hardware store needs and friendly, knowledgeable service. They seem very responsive to and engaged with the community. I have been very pleased with every visit and purchase.

This is a great hardware store. They have everything you need for a home project, from carpentry tools and equipment to gardening to paint supplies. The store is extremely clean and well organized. It's family owned and operated from what I can tell. Everyone I spoke with was very kind and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this store.

Last time I was at W.S. Jenks was over 40 years ago. They have SawStop saws in stock and on display so worth the visit, and delivery was quick and affordable. Also lots of other tempting tools at very competitive prices. I'll shop here again. They even have a Ford Model A on display, since this building was originally a Ford dealer.

This is a really good hardware store. They will usually have what you need. I am only writing a review because they saved me a bunch of trips to other hardware stores by letting me know alternatives to my problem. What I’m saying is, go to Jenks first. It could save you a lot of time. Also, the staff is generally enjoyable.

These people are great. It's like walking into a hardware store owned by your dad. They're immensely helpful and if they don't have something you're looking for, they'll offer to order it for you. Sometimes a trip to a big box store is necessary, but for most small scale home repair projects, this is the place to go.

My favorite place to shop. I decided to shop for a lock for our mailbox...and yes they had it. I was in an out in 20 min with service from the time I walked in! You are always greeted at the door with no waiting for someone to help. I took my wife again and guess what they had a lemon/lime tree she wants!

This store is awesome, they have just about everything at a good price. I like going in and just browsing sometimes. They have a plant shop hidden on the roof too. I think Frager's might be owned by Ace Hardware so I go here any time I can instead even though it's further from Capitol Hill.

This is a great local hardware and garden center. Very large (you wouldn’t expect) and organized. Staff are very friendly and they offer a variety of classes and events. They even recycle paint which is a rare find.

In comparison, to Kohler Equipment in Landover Hills, Md. , W S Jenkins is the best for customer service. W S Jenkins in DC are motivated and courteous with customers, not Kohler. Very poor service at Kohler.
