When shopping Whole Foods you expect the staff to be friendly, courteous, and hospitable. That was not the experience I had last night. Had no trouble finding the items I was looking for and actually enjoyed seeing a large variety of items to choose from. When I was ready to checkout I approached a cashier (Regina) at register number 2. She was busy wiping the conveyer belt at the register. I asked if it was okay to place my items on the conveyer to checkout after she had finished and she said, “No, please chose another register”. I look around and they all have lines. So I say “Well I’m using this one because I don’t see the point in waiting in line unnecessarily. She gives me a strange look. I place my items on the belt. She now goes behind the register and takes her time to wipe down all the equipment including the register and bagging area while I stand patiently waiting to be checked out. She asks, “do you want a bag?” I respond yes please. I ask about the Prime pricing and how to use my Prime membership to take advantage of the offers. She shoots me the same look from earlier in our interaction. Then tells me the steps to access the prime savings. I thank her again. Now I’m ready to pay and I attempt to make a partial payment with my EBT card first, then pay the rest with my debit card. She can’t do it, why she says because it’s food stamps. Why would that even be possible? They clearly have the ability to do this. I wait and she does not get the transaction right so in frustration because I just want to get thru the transaction I ask for a manager who can assist us. He arrives and where is my receipt to show the manager? Regina has thrown it in the trash. Shoots me another look I’ve now become familiar with. The manager apologizes for her. I ask why my transaction is so difficult and why I was receiving mediocre customer service and guess what…she rolls her eyes and walks away. The reason this happened is because from the moment Regina and I interacted she profiles me as a certain “type” of person and proceeded to treat me as such. I’m not from this area and I’m not coming back anytime soon so our interaction was a one off. But I think it’s a teachable moment for the older boomer generation to be more open and tolerant of other people and there lifestyle choices. Lets do better Regina. Stop getting people all fire up over trying to pay for their over priced specialty foods. 100 bucks for one bag of items should warrant a smile and a little patients.
If I could give this store a zero star I would. Bathroom is always nasty. Groceries in produce always look bad, brown and nasty. If you want a “high contact” come to H St SE Whole Foods. You smell more marijuana in the store and garage than “Fresh Catch or Fresh Produce”. They never have anything in stock. Staff is very young minded and unprofessional. Bakery, meat and seafood pulls off tags and reprint new tags to move expiration dates back. (Ex. I witnessed a ethopian lady whom worked in bakery. Go grab all the brioche buns infront of the meat department on 1/09/2023 before noon and pulled the old stickers off that expired on 1/08/2023 and replace them with new stickers on the same buns dates for 1/15/2023. I can only imagine what else is expired being replaced with current stickers pushing the expiration date out. You could even see the old sticker residue underneath the new sticker.) Yuck! But you guys “motto” or “core values” are “Our purpose is to nourish people and the planet”. Not when you changing dates on expired items and placing them back out to be sold as “guaranteed fresh”. I highly recommend going somewhere else before wasting your time coming here. Only thing this store and there employees have in common are “High A** Employees, HIGH A** PRICES, & a high chance of rude customer service” run go out VA.
I was there tonight to do an Amazon return. The drawer on the return box was locked and wouldn't open. An associate came over and opened the bottom door for me to drop my package in. I put my package in and closed it, but the screen would not advance to the next prompt for me to confirm the return. Another associate came over to me and said she had to restart the system because it was frozen now. I asked her if my item would still be marked as return. She said yes. I said but the screen is frozen and the return was never confirmed. She said in a condescending tone: "Sir, the return will be confirmed, I just need to restart the system." The return was not ever confirmed or accepted by Amazon. I am not surprised because this is literally the third time this has happened to me at this location when trying to return an Amazon item. Each time it has taken two weeks to get my money back from Amazon and multiple texts and calls with Amazon customer service. This is a terrible location. Go to Adams Morgan or Navy Yard Whoe Foods if you have a return. Avoid H Street in general as much as possible
Your security team/police officers need some serious training. There is absolutely no reason why i should be harassed during my shopping experience on multiple occasions by dcpd. I’m tired, hungry, and trying to bring my day to a close, I don’t need to be stressed out by inappropriate officers, who set the tone it seems for the behavior of the actual Whole Foods employees. Once they see how disrespectful the officers are they begin following their lead. I guess my best option for a stress free evening is to count my losses and go hungry for the night and days to follow or go find a different grocery store that makes it a point to treat ALL customers with a common level of respect and dignity. The latter I believe to be the best mode of action. I will not tolerate abuse, I do not need that additional stress from strangers I’ve done nothing to, especially on a night like CHRISTMAS EVE. Please scope out this branch, they need to do better with their rapport. It is terrible.
Dr Mr Bezos, As a long time shopper at many Whole Foods I have enjoyed the good selection of quality foods and outstanding customer service. Today I had a very bad experience with a couple employees at customer service. They were very rude. The rudeness came from 2 employees in customer service who refused to get me some half n half for my coffee I got from your automatic machine. Fortunately, a manager was willing to help me and I got my half n half for my coffee. He was very helpful. After finishing my shopping I went to a register to pay. The rude cashier (different person) refused to say hello or thank me after I thanked her for her work. I realize the labor shortage in Washington DC, but understand as a restaurant owner that we can be better off not having toxic employees. I hope my favorite grocery store is able to overcome this labor issue that is plaguing this store. This includes training employees on proper customer service.
Didn't get much from here, they didn't have the dog food I was looking for, unfortunately. All I did was buy a fruit tart. The store itself was very clean, beautiful, and a great place overall. They only have 1 of the 2 exists/entrances working (during the time I'm writing this, it could be available later in the future) the other looked to be a mini vaccine center that wasn't open at the time I went. Only experience I say wasn't positive, which is the reason why I didn't put 5 stars is because I heard 2 employees speaking bad about someone, who I assume was about another coworker or possibly a customer (highly doubt that). It's me who just doesn't like hearing things like people talking behind someone's back and things like that. But at the end of the day, aren't the majority or all workplaces going to have something like that at some point. Getting back to the store, I still enjoyed its calm atmosphere. Would recommend to others.
Edit: my original review was bad regarding stale food and the unsanitary self serve pizza. But I decided to give it a go one more time despite my bad experience. Yesterday they had “orange chicken” at the hot food bar. It was so good! No complaints. The store looked clean and the food looked fresh. So Today I go back and orange chicken again. Yay me! But not so fast. It didn’t quite taste the same. They immersed the bits of chicken in 3x the amount of sauce than last time. While at the same rate added about 5x more salt! I Literally bit into huge chunks of salt with every bite.Their cooking style at this whole foods just isn’t up to par. The food was soggy and wet and you can tell whomever is cooking back there just doesn’t care. Never consistent at this store and they still don’t sell the chocolate chip pecan cookies that’s sold at EVERY other whole foods, that I’ve been buying from whole foods since it was called Fresh Fields.
I went to whole food market on H Street Southeast. They have Amazon pick up as well as return items there at that location. I was returning Amazon item and the lady said you don't have to bring the box it came in just bring the item will provide the box. Which is good to know for future use. Customer service there was nice the store was clean and had a lot of selection of things. I'm just not used to not seeing name brand items that's all but I'm sure they're products is very good. I just have to go in and try them one day. They do have a deli which server this vegan bacon sandwich, which I hear is out of this world. One of things I do like about this particular location whole food market is the stores nice and bright and so colorful with the selection of fruits and vegetables you look so delicious and inviting. I would recommend this store if just for the vegetables and fruits alone.
Whole Foods Market is a one-stop destination for foodies and health enthusiasts. Their rotating beer selection at the bar never disappoints, offering a range of craft brews to enjoy. The extensive wine selection caters to all tastes and budgets, making it easy to find the perfect bottle. The in-store florist adds a touch of natural beauty, offering stunning arrangements and bouquets. Amazon Prime members enjoy exclusive perks like discounts and free delivery, adding value to every visit. While the hot bar can be a bit pricey, the quality and variety of dishes make it worth the splurge. Lastly, their cheese selection is a cheese lover's dream, featuring an impressive array of artisanal and international cheeses. Whole Foods Market truly delivers a premium shopping experience, where quality, variety, and convenience come together.
Food at this Whole Foods is not fresh. Purchased my groceries here last week, and was very disappointed. Bought two oranges, both were bad. Bought an entire bag of clementines that looked great in the store, but after about 5 days in the refrigerator, they have all started to turn brown. The prosciutto was more fat than it was meat, and was weirdly hard around the edges, to the point that I couldn’t even chew it. Even my flowers started falling apart and dying the second day that they were in the vase. For the price Whole Foods charges for groceries, I expect much higher quality. I will not be returning to this Whole Foods, and will go down the street to Harris teeter for higher quality at half the price.
Conveniently located in the SE / Navy yard neighbourhood, this whole foods offer several food options, especially organic. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance from the whole foods. Like other whole foods, this one also has free parking for a limited amount of time. Whole foods cafe is also open and allows people to sit and enjoy the bar food. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, etc. Whole foods has a number of foods to select from. My friend and I visited this place in search of some vegan cookies, turns out that not just that they had several options, the cookies tasted great too.
I very much appreciate the location and convenience of this Whole Foods. However, I haven't necessarily loved some subtle changes that have happened at this store. At times, it feels like in-store shopping is an after thought in comparison to filling Prime orders for pickup or delivery. More than once, I've been about bulled over by Amazon shoppers grabbing items. Service can be hit or miss. It's not that it's generally bad, but I've definitely encountered less than amazing cashiers on occasions. The store is generally well stocked, but I would try to avoid it at peak times like Sunday evening.
All the good reviews must be getting paid.. clap clap. I’d be happy if this place could be fully staffed and offer a fully opened & operating espresso bar on Saturday mornings by 10:00. I don’t even bother going anymore because I already know it will be closed. Also, why have a se security guard there if all she does is hold up the counter by leaning on it? She’s worthless because I actually saw a shoplifter while she was standing in the front talking with the staff. Hopefully this location will get converted to an Amazon Fresh.
This Whole Foods is the only grocery store in the area that has my favorite gelato so for that I’m grateful. So as a PREVIOUS WFM EMPLOYEE (2018) I see the store’s functionality to be pretty tight and cramped and the staff aren’t that helpful. Some are okay but most are kinda nonchalant. And I’m not one of those stuck up people who talks to anyone crazy. I always try to be polite generally. But the staff just is worried about their own specific duty not being welcoming and helpful to guest.
I'm restarting a plant-based diet, so Whole Foods was the first place I thought of to get fresh, organic veggies and fruit. The store is well-stocked and I didn't notice anything rotten or out-of-date. It includes a Plnt Burger shop next to the deli for the vegans out there. The customer service was average, but I did notice a guy who looked like he could've been from the seafood aisle with this 1000-mile stare going on. This place is conveniently located near the Navy Yard metro stop.
This Whole Foods Market offers a wide variety of Groceries, Healthy Items and Household Supplies. This location also offers a PLNT Burger Restaurant and next to PLNT Burger you can order a jumbo slice Pizza to go. WFM Coffee Bar available at this location as well. Staff was friendly with great customer services and this location was clean. Free 90 minutes parking available in the parking garage for customer’s shopping. This Whole Foods Market is located in the Navy Yard SE DC Area.
Updated review- this is the third time I have purchased spoiled chicken from this location. The salmon has the same issues. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Just like usual, the cashier couldn’t even be bothered to say hello. I don’t understand what is going on at this location. Do not come here on a Sunday. Shelves are empty, and my cashier was rude. She throw my produce into the bag. Parking was also a nightmare and my ticket would not scan.
Management and customer service in this location keeps getting worse by day. In the past several months employees have noticeably become a lot lazier and they seem to be grouping and chatting a lot more than working. So-called manager Keith along with his colleague whose name ends with -ee (couldn’t see the badge properly) were very rude and unaccommodating today (Feb 24th, 6-ish pm). Please someone talk to them and teach some basic soft skills.
I had the most amazing experience today at Whole Foods in Navy Yard Washington DC. I needed help finding certain products and they were not on the shelves. One of the employees named Dean came up to me and asked if I needed assistance. I obviously said yes. Dean swiftly found my products. I was very impressed by Dean's professionalism and precision. Whole Foods did an amazing job training him. That is the reason I like shopping at Whole Foods.
I love the atmosphere at this Whole Foods Market, but some of the staff are very rude. The cashier made a mistake a rang one of my items up twice. When it was brought to her attention, she acted as if I was irritating her and when the manager came to help her, she was as rude as the cashier. They seem to need customer service training in this location. The store itself is clean and nice, and the food has been fresh thus far
We generally like this Whole Foods, but have gotten poor support from the food prep department. Every Friday for the past four weeks we have ordered two large two topping pizzas. Every week we have had an issue with the pizza from them losing the order, making it wrong and printing the ticket wrong so it was the wrong price at checkout. They need a little improvement in quality control.
The employees there need to learn how to adjust their attitudes. No one should have such a foul attitude on a Sunday. I went in to return something and before I could finish my sentence, the worker kept repeating "we don't take the packaging". My item had broken packaging and needed the bag I brought it in. Next time, allow the customer to speak before assuming and coming off snarky.
FYI about the deli sandwiches. MUST order on the app (not via webpage or in person). Deli worker told us after waiting 5 minutes. Put 2 sandwiches in right away, waited at counter, and got two sandwiches 20 min later. No other customers were there. Also, very limited toppings (4 types of meat and 4 toppings), and they use the pre packaged deli items (not fresh sliced).
I can't tell if I picked the perfect time or this Whole Foods is just always stocked! I've been twice and have found everything I needed and the shelves always seem to be full and beautiful! I even had the most amazing cashier (AC) who organized my items into my two bags so it would be easier for me to carry home. Thanks for making my errands day a little brighter :)
Probably the worst Whole Foods I’ve ever been to. It’s very small and are constantly out of food. I haven’t seen the hot bar open in a long time… And the Whole Foods in the area of hot bars so it’s not a Covid thing. Overall not impressed Update: it’s getting slightly better. Upgrading to 3 stars. Pentagon city Whole Foods is the best in the area.
The worst parking I’ve been to in my life. They allow cars to go both directions where there’s clearly not enough space at all so 3 cars end up backing up to let other 3 cars going the other direction to get through. Beyond inefficient and you’d think Whole Foods would install some smart parking guidance system but no they don’t give a foo!
The red grape was not up to standards. The price of the watermelon superseded the quality of the fruit. The rotisserie chicken was fresh, hot, and delicious. The young male cashier could have been more knowledgeable of all the produce in the store. Nevertheless, my shopping experience was slightly above Walmart. Thank you for asking me.
Ordered a pizza for delivery from here. It was, by far, the worst pizza I’ve come in contact with. Had at least four pizzas’ worth of cheese on it. Took one bite - totally inedible. I’ve had pizzas from other WF locations and they’re fantastic. Actually impressive how bad the pizzas here miss the mark. I’m done with this location.
Staff here are generally really helpful and friendly and the lines have not been long first thing in the AM or even at lunchtime before a storm. Organic produce and prepared items (guacamole or salsa) can be spotty, but supply chain issues are am issue at times. All in all a great place to shop and plenty of parking.
It’s always busy here but today was ridiculous. Every aisle was full of people waiting to check out and the self-check-out aisle wrapped all the way around the store. I’m not exaggerating. And there were employees walking around doing internet shopping (filling people’s online orders) and acting totally unconcerned.
I like that there is an Amazon station with a live person handing out packages and collecting returns. The only downside is that they operate in a shorter window than the store. It is still a great opportunity, as it saves you some time. The agent is fast and pleasant. Thank you for your great customer service.
A staff was sweeping the floor around the hot bar right after she put the food out. I mentioned food safety and she stated "I'm keeping it clean for you". My concern is microorganisms because of the flu and covid. Reached out to the manager and says, she not aware of a sweeping the floor policy and food safety.
This is one of the must visit Whole Foods when it comes to bakery and most groceries. Easy to find parking spot, clean in the inside and out, their hot food is so amazing and tasty, friendly stuff. Make sure to validate your parking tickets prior to exit the garage otherwise you’ll be stuck. I recommended it.
Pro tip, you can buy a beer in the bar and carry it with you as you do your shopping in this chaotic Whole Foods. The lines are out of control so I abandoned my olives and paid for my items which didn't need weighing at the bar with no line. All in all the store is crazy busy but the bar is where it's at.
A slight bit expensive. This is due to the high quality food and service. I don't mind paying for that. Selection is quite diverse. There is always an associate near to provide assistance. I personally start salivating near the meat counter. Serious choice cuts of meat. Totally worth the price and visit.
I enjoyed my visit the Staff is friendly, helpful and the food and stocked items are fresh, eye catching, and reasonably priced. Although, the day I visited the store was during a busy season and the store sold out of some items I needed, I still was able to purchase some other items I needed.
I went to get some fruit only but ended up getting more than I bargained for. The cashier was very helpful and nice and seemed to have a pleasant attitude. I couldn't reach something and one of the employees came rushing to my side to help me it was so nice. I can't wait to go back there.
Stopped providing vegan options. They offer about 13 different soups daily and only one vegan option (down from several previously) and they completely stopped carrying vegan cupcakes. Not responsive management. Disappointed in lack of options. Better off making the drive to Mom’s.
Horrible customer service! Amazon makes you bring items you want to return into their stores now. So I come across town to do it and none of the employees help, they direct me to a kiosk that is full and not working and a desk that no one is at. Very unhelpful and a stupid system
Went to order a pizza at 5pm. No one at pizza station. Had to ask another staff to go find someone so I could order. She told me that they had no thawed pizza dough so it would be about 2 hours. What kind of pizza department doesn’t have thawed dough on a Saturday evening?
Huge selection of niche foods. Way more than our local fresh market has. Great selection of exotic mushrooms available and a big variety of Sol-ti cold pressed products across from the checkout. I was able to try two new drinks I’ve never seen before in my local market.
I have a question: why has the price of tuna fish in the deli section (plain, Mediterranean, cranberry) risen so sharply in the past few weeks? Now up from $10.00 per container to 13.00? We love the store, products, staff…we just don’t understand some price hikes.
Whole Foods is on point. The staff is great and lines at the register and self checkout are always moving and managed well. We all know Whole Foods can get a little pricey however you get what you pay for. All of their produce, fruits, and meats are top quality.
It was amazing. Clean and fully stocked with everything..I came in to use the bathroom and got something to eat while there. The fried rice and orange chicken with another type of chicken in a lemon cream sauce I will always go there whenever I visit DC …
It's a dice roll. You might get someone who cares about their job, and get excellent service, or get a disgruntled hood joint having the usual bad day. Get here by 9:55, or they will lock the door, and give you the blind eye until 10 then tell you it's closed.
My go-to for quality groceries! Whole Foods never disappoints with its wide selection of organic produce and specialty items. The staff is always friendly and helpful, making shopping a breeze. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the quality definitely justifies it.
This is a nice one. I like their wine department right near the entrance and the bar behind it. You can literally walk with the glass of wine in the store. Parking is big, but it is upstairs and you need to use the elevator to get to the store.
Mostly a good store, but two complaints: 1. most of the ice cream is completely freezer-burned, and continues to sit there for months. 2. at 6:30pm on a weekday, there are usually 1-2 cashiers, so lines are so much longer than they need to be.
Wendy, who works at Whole Foods Navy Yard made 2 absolutely gorgeous flower arrangements for me. Wendy took her time and listened to what I wanted and exceeded my expectations. Whole Foods please know Wendy is an asset. All of my 100 guests
I go here for the coconut cream cupcakes, absolutely delicious and light. Parking garage is spacious and free if you only stay for 90 minutes and don't forget to validate your parking with the ticket stub in the store. Happy shopping ! …
WORST Whole Foods. I experience rudeness, discrimination and mocking. The bar would not serve my friend because she didn’t like her joke and because “I’m closing in 30 min”. The cashier wouldn’t sell to my sister because “she is drunk” but
Great WFM location which is super convenient for me. I used to go to the WFM in Pentagon City and quite similar in general. Good variety and most products are in stock. They also have the delivery (charges) or free pick-up. They also have
It’s a Whole Foods. So, yeah… if you need Whole Foods, then stop by. One word of warning, the Amazon return desk is staffed by people who do not care, at all, about their jobs. So, just keep an eye on them when they’re scanning your stuff.
Horrible Catering Experience. I placed an order for catering on February 20 for pick up at 9:00 am on March 14th. Plenty of time, right? My husband arrived to pick up the order at the appointed time. The order was not ready. He had to
Outrageous cost, worse quality and selection every day, one cashier open, large self check line, moronic parking lot. Ruthless Amazon cost cutting monopoly to further enrich one sick person. Loaded with fake 5 star reviews. Dystopian.
Can someone send me an email address for HR? I feel that we need to have a conversation. I would give this a one star but I don’t want one abusive manager ruin the rating for the whole store where there are other really great staff.
This whole foods looks newer and has alot of variety. Its not as big as th one on P street. Foggy Bottom has 2 floors unlike this store but it still fairly sizable. I guess some whole foods have a bar. this one does and people are
Probably the best Whole Foods in the country. Super spacious and clean, with plentiful options and pleasant, courteous, knowledgeable staff. Fresh Juice bar, fresh bakery and pizza. Get the Vegan Maple donut and change your world.
The Hot Bar at Whole Foods has gotten increasingly worse. They used to have a great selection of good options that rotated. Now, every day 7 days a week it's the same damn thing. Please return to your original high standard.
Excellent shop and good products, most are expensive but they are of good quality. I am removing one star because check outs are understaffed and you always queue. A lot of employees are just busy preparing online orders.
The parking garage charges for parking but validates if you buy something. But only the cashiers can validate! Kinda janky if you're going there for say amazon returns! The returns desk should validate
Definitely my favorite location, I love this place. However I was pretty disappointed when I tried the Cajun rotisserie chicken from the hot bar and it was completely tasteless and dry under the skin.
Great food and good choices. Not news for anyone to read that their prices are kind of high but not prohibitive. It's also necessary to take a look at all prices because some are quite competitive.
Glad I walked cuz to get into the parking lot was horrendous. This store offers a lot. Produce looked good. It's a bit pricey but it's Capitol Hill area. Customer service was good. I will return.
Nice place. Shopping there almost everyday. For some reason, lately, seeing huge lines. Today, about 15 ppl in a line and only 3 registers open (not rushing anywhere...) wish it was a bit faster
Great store , most products are actually cheaper than my local grocery (yay inflation) and the best is that they have both a bar and a burger restaurant INSIDE the store. I could live here...
Friendly responsive Longtime business in area responsive to global picture and locals Merchandise is broad but could include more little more of brands that are not its own 5 star overall.
It's a nice store. The hot bar is very limited compared to other Whole Foods I've been to. But everything was pretty good. Downside is that it's way too expensive, in my opinion.
Always love Whole Foods. The prices may be higher than usual, but they have a really good selection of items especially ones that you can find at normal grocery stores.
A nice hot food bar, but they change the food sometimes. $1 or $2 just for one macaroon. There is also a olive bar. And, there are free samples, but not all the time.
It’s a nice While Foods with the basics. It’s not the largest so it’s tough finding specific ingredients. The staff are super helpful and it’s usually a quick trip.
The wine area is very relaxing, especially if you wanna just have a few drinks without a loud crowd of a bar or restaurant. And the self serve wine bar is nice.
Clean store with friendly and helpful staff. Great beer and wine selection, good quality/variety of produce. Their deli/butcher offers high-end meats/seafood.
Returned after one year away. Service and cleanliness way down, stockers completely blocked aisles on a FRIDAY afternoon, I will use Trader Joe’s instead
Good place to grab a bite when you don’t want to spend a lot of money or time going to a restaurant. Free 90 minute parking when to shop there.
Your LLC cannot be charged with character assassination, it's owned by Amazon and I don't like it. I am the a to z. You are the A2O in my AO
Amazing, expansive well organized Whole Foods. Come here all the time for staple groceries and more exciting treats. They have a bar too!
Stopped to grab some rolls. Stopped at the customer service to ask for bakery. I was directed to. The employee seemed nice.
Lots of vegan and organic products even in the bakery. Serves hot pizza and has plant-based hot food ready to be served.
Coffee machine is constantly out of service and the cafe is closed a lot. Its a great Great Whole Foods otherwise.
Whole Foods Market is the best place to shop for fresh groceries. They also have a parking garage.
The store is well organized and the customer service staff are pleasant and very friendly.
As always, GREAT! sets the model for all food stores. I love this store.
Everything is always fresh, and the customer service is always a 10
Prices high..quality of service and food choices great
Clean store and convenient. Great produce selection.
Great groceries, reasonable prices and good service
First time visiting....don't like garage parking.
