Just got served by someone ten to fifteen mins back today, making me run late for work while she cannot listen properly to a small request of giving only $6 coins for a cash out, and all gives me a $5 bill and a $1 coin, and when I request her the 4th time I need coins only for a cash out (for laundry purposes) all she says is that I never returned the $1 coin to her and gives me $5 coins in return, saying I’ve the $6 now since I “already kept the coin” she gave…. Moreover, on my very face, she starts telling the surrounding staff that if they find a $1 missing, it’s a discrepancy! The purpose to write this post is a request to the managers of this store: please keep more trained & professionally sound people with a more structured sense of work ethics & attention to detail, and if it’s someone new, atleast don’t put them on front without adequate training. Left the store really enraged, disgusted and what not….
ZERO STARS to the manipulation into getting people to use self check out machines. So they still have a couple of check out with real people, but they put up some ridiculous machines that doesn't allow the staff to receive the money for payment, we have to put the money into the machines, really? What a sneaky way, trying to train people into stop real life experiences of shopping by replacing people with machines, and this way training people half way there, probably to remove the people from it in no time after everybody are "well trained" into using self check out machines. BIG FAT NO TO THIS. WE ALL MUST SAY TO THESE CORPORATIONS TRYING TO REPLACE HUMANS WITH MACHINES. WE AS CONSUMERS HAVE THE POWER TO REJECT THIS. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO KEEP HUMANITY ALIVE AND TRADITIONAL VALUES GOING FOR NEXT GENERATIONS, BEFORE EVERYONE GETS DISCONNECTED BEYOND SALVATION.
Started coming here in oh what was it September 2012 I think or maybe not long after, so nearly 10 years ago. That was back when it was still Renaissance IGA. 2013 was a big year for me and them, I remember regular occasions of coming there for big orders so much so that on occasion another company truck would be there when I'm about to deliver the order delivering another one for a different supplier. 2014 was pretty much the same but it was in about late 2014 or early 2015 that I found out they were changing over to a Woolies. For a while I didn't come there again or not regularly, however at some point, I believe in 2016 or 17 I started coming there for your odd one box order, maybe once or twice a week. Big shoutout to Robbie and Collin who were there from the start and last I saw are still there now, wow how time goes fast..
This Woolie's location is amazing, located right next to the light rail and just down Fitzroy St not far from the beach and Albert Park. It makes doing post workout shopping an actual thing, as the self checkout terminals which are pristine and well kept support tap payment from phones. The store shelves are well maintained and you can find what you are looking for in a basic circuit even if you don't frequent supermarkets too often. I found the general disposition not staff pleasing and they are quite helpful. The kind gentleman who was manning the self checkouts even offered me a few bags with my purchases when I awkwardly looked around for something to put my goods in. Overall it's a clean, convenient and pleasant shopping experiences. The staff are pretty easy on the eyes too so that's definitely a positive...
Firstly so glad they are open till midnight now. Currently the new renovations have improved the store in a lot of ways, it feels like for the first time they actually put some tought in to design, with more check outs being a big plus. But a lot of my favourites have disappeared off shelfs which is frustrating. There isn't much diversity on the shelfs either. And working out the new layout is a pain in the butt. But these are early days. Things that really bother me: The selections of meats is so mundane and there's never anything interesting. I'd like to see more offal and bones for broths and giving to my dog. Also the pet food selection is lacking in current trends of healthy pet diets. Also needs more dessert selections in the fridge area. I'd also wish they would showcase more local producers.
Hi there :--) I shopped at this store TONIGHT... I have purchased 3 packs of frozen meat (for my children actually) , Came home and opened to cook for the kids dinner , and I realised it is Seasoned/Flavoured with some herbs and spices & CHILLI our family is allergic to herbs and spices and specifically to CHiLLi I mistakenly grabbed this Flavoured meat ... Tow packs of Meats are Plain/Normal , but one pack is Flavoured :--( I'm gonna go back to the store early in the morning tomorrow to return it , to change it with Plain meat or at least getting store credit or taking something else instead. This is my local store and I'm a everyday customer .... honestly if they refused to take it back I will never return to this store again Thanks.
The store shelves are always being restocked, which yes is a good thing but not when over half of the staff don't care if they walk into you or if you are walking down an aisle and the staff member makes you leave the aisle as they are taking up the whole thing with a single trolley. If I wanted to pay more I'd go to IGA. It's supposed to be a convenient location for a shop and yes the location is great but it's definitely not well priced. The prices seem to be almost double the normal woolworths prices which is just ridiculous. The coffee, I don't think they have had a decent coffee maker in the Cafe since 2020. No matter who makes the coffee it's always milky, never what you order and sometimes it's sweet when you don't even have sugar.
For its size you can get all the basics that u need for almost any kind of meal. Good range of toiletries and sundries, alcohol shop, cafe, self service. But if u want the full woolworths range, best to go to acland street. Edit - - - Sat, 27th July 2019 @ 07.08am - I retract my previous statement - now that ive moved back closer to this store, the more and more that I revisit, the more I think how much this store actually sucks... All of my favourites, that EVERY woolworths store stocks, even the petrol stations, are non existent or hiked up in price... You should be ashamed of yourself WOOLWORTHS - FITZROY STREET, ST KILDA!!! Changed my stars from 4 to 1. If I could give stars in the minus, I would!...
The customer service of this store has gotten better and better over the years. I shop at this store weekly and find the staff there to always be friendly, helpful and professional. Frances, who works at the self serve checkouts, is one of the best retail assistants at any store I've shopped at. She always has a smile on her face, is always an absolute pleasure to deal with and always happy to help no matter what the enquiry. Also a big thank you to all the security staff working there. They are always friendly and when they can take the time to give my dog a pat. Plus the barista coffee at this Metro (which is free when you spend $30) is some of the best coffee in the area!!!
A very busy store solely because of it's location right on Fitzroy st and it's surrounded by flats or as they are called apartments. And the occupants are predominantly young. It's a small store compared with any other Woolies store but if has a bottle shop which saves you walking a couple of blocks to buy what is a necessity a cold drink especially now that it's summer. It's part of the tram station so it's convenient when you're on the way home and your fridge is empty because the only thing you have to do is get out of the tram and walk literally in to the supermarket. Overall nothing much changes apart from the size of the store
Horrible place. Please do yourself a favour and don’t shop here. There are a very limited amount of trolleys. Like I’m talking 6 or 7. Of course in use. I don’t know if went here on the wrong day but there were lots of items( heaps ) not in stock. Lucky to get a carrot. And that wasn’t the worst part. The staff? Jesus Christ, everyone seems far too busy doing nothing to help any customer. And when I did go through the checkout, I had a issue about a donation to something I didn’t agree with. I asked and was told he can’t help? I said that’s ok, but can you get someone who can. Nooooo, too hard basket. Furious
This Woolies is more of a convenience store than a super market. The staff know and have explained it's because of the small space and excellent location that there are a limited variety of items, and will refer you to the larger Woolworths in Acland street. However, they have an assortment of fresh produce, the best and friendliest deli staff, wonderful cashiers(who have made my day many times)and very helpful floor staff. Really good to step off the 96,straight into the shop and to cap it off it has a BWS with equally amazing personnel adjoining. Convenience in the literal sense.
I finally discovered why they use the money machines at most Woolworths franchises It seems to be to stop workers from having too many sick days. However the times I went to this one only two machines, you could use money on, which includes the manned checkouts. I wonder why the stores with these machines refuse to acknowledge that there is a long line up of people waiting to pay for their things, but can't, because they have cash with a good five or six card checkouts not getting used during these line ups.
Probably to shabbiest suburban Woolies in the South East. Poor car parking, prone to terrible drivers, supermarket itself is too small, aisles are very tight and the green grocery section poorly laid out. Some kosher products for the local community but overall the selection isn’t great. Clearly not been renovated since the 70s this place needs a complete re-work especially since the is significant other investment in the area and the proximity to the railway station. Even Aldi shows this place up.
Great store and Brilliant Staff. Especially Tef I think the young ladies name is who helped me out one day with a little embarrassing situation I got into. I went to pay for my purchase and realised I couldn’t tfr my funds from my phone internet banking and she gave me a quick fix to log into the stores free wifi and was able to complete tfr and finish making my purchases. So a big thank you Tef. Your an angel and a valued customer service assistant.
The staff were more than helpful and very willing to assist with a smile. Probably because of its location however I found the store to be way too small and have way too small a range of products. Things that I thought should have been there when compared with my local store simply were not. It made some of the shopping a bit of a painful process but I guess that is a first world problem and I'm sure I'll survive.
Cleana and friendly enough BUT WHY IS THE CAFE ALWAYS CLOSED?? You give out free coffee vouches for every $30 spent so i spend! So keep the cafe open in the hours is supposed to be! Its been like a 30% its open and thats just so unreliable... Also...Not enough bargais and sales for the locals who purchase there every week, sometimes not fresh produce left.
Neutrally decent at best!! They used to be SAFEWAY supermarket 27 years ago and the only local big range supermarket back then until Coles came in 2000!!! It's hasn't changed that much and the store pretty is the same as it always was but I wish they employ more people as opposed to the self check out machines etc. Decent but overall unrewarding at best...
If you're after deceitful conduct by the store manager and assistant store manager then this is your store. If you enjoy watching staff playing on their phones rather than serving customers held up in a queue - again this is your store. There are consequences for businesses engaging in this type of behaviour. This review is just the tip of the iceberg.
Worst service the two guys on the checkout at lunch on Sunday you actually have to interrupt them talking to get any service and they seem like it was rude for you to interrupt. They the send you to another counter that you have already been to and of course isn’t staffed. Walk back past and they are just talking amongst themselves again.
Not alot of variety but the cafe's the best thing about it as it's smaller & business hours aren't as good as the other stores either but as a "Metro" it's alright. Attitude of staff used to be all good but last visit I noticed this had changed at the check-outs,so be careful when wanting to swap without a receipt sadly is the case here!
"The fresh food people"..... I've visiting for 3 months now and these are pretty much the state of the red onions EVERY time I come in. Would be nice to come in and not see onions or other foods from last decade on the shelf. I have previously reported this to staff. The "fresh" produce must sit in the too hard basket (pun intend)
Lovely staff, clean place. Really appreciate that they have security. I know so many supermarkets don’t which makes it hard for staff to feel safe when they have to deal with problems/aggressive customers. Keep up the great work and please always have security! It’s so great that you protect your staff, not everywhere does!
A small version of the larger Woolworths I visited at the Westfield mall near the airport... But still a good selection of the essentials and more. Had to ask for help a few times due to brands being different for some products than what I am used to back in the US. Very helpful employees as well as other shoppers.
If you want something exotic like rubber gloves to do the dishes, don't bother going here. The staff are lovely but whoever decides what to stock the store with has lost the plot. Also, filling the place with single person, single use plastic containers should be treated as environmental vandalism. No stars.
Not worth the trip for the limited product choices. The free coffee if you spent over $30 used to be enough to lure me here, but they started charging for lactose free milk (an incentive doesn't work if you have to pay for it) way more convenient now to go to balaclava and use the full sized coles there
Just near the tram stop that ends tram 96 route. Life saver if you happened to fall sleep with hang over. get your prepaid top up with a bag of loose Tabasco, menthol filter and paper , and if you are a bit fortunate, get some cakies or or some more booze to trash your frustration. Great spot Woolies!
Small but serve the local needs. Always good to see a major supermarket in the area. There is another one at St Kilda Central. Well served by trams, this Woolworths is well used by the locals. For those who need to park, street coin parking. Complimentary ones are further down and has one hour limit.
Gemma on the tills is a perfect example of you not liking your job and still being there. Upon telling her that someones spilled cherries next to the entrance which is a spill hazard, she tells me we know and moves to the next customer. Get a life if you cannot do one thing right you are meant to.
My local grocer, but more like a convenience store. Because of limited space, they hold a sufficient but limited selection of products. However, fresh produce is always fresh. They do run out of roasted chicken often and don't sell any seafood in the deli. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Since the change of layout and product lines this has become a horrible place to shop. Many shelves are always empty. I’ve seen this shop go from being run be David Jones food chain to this. And this is probably the worst iteration of a food store compared to what could be available.
This Metro store has improved in terms of the variety range of groceries and things are easy to find and specials are nicely displayed when u walked in stores. However the new self checkouts system is taking longer time than the previous system. Hope they will improve on this soon.
Relatively small Woolworths. The parking facilities are underground and have an odd refund scheme. It's cheap, but the redund machine does not work well. I persisted and bothered staff who had to take extra measures to provide the refund... hopefully they fix this.
Bought Tsing Tao Beer on offer, 12 for $30, then stored them in a public Fridge in Nomads opposite where a thief stole them from the Fridge. 6 were replaced by Castlemaine XXX, but it was still a terrible outcome for a purchase made the previous day. January 2018.
Smaller format Woolworths store (like a ‘Metro’ store) that has most of the basics, but it doesn’t have the full range you’re used to if you shop with Woolworths. Really friendly staff though, and it has bicycle parking out the front and car parking underneath.
Great place to buy a few items on the way home from the tram. Conveniently located at St Kilda Station. Staff are helpful and store is laid out in an easy to understand manner. Store is always quite neat and well organised. Great specials all the time.
Good but small Woolworths. Limited range because of space but a nice store. Grabbed coffee there the first morning of our stay just down the road and it was surprisingly good. Became my morning routine and the morning barista was great and friendly.
You don't get anything half price anymore they mark things down at a stupid price muffins are normally $3.50 two days before the use by date they might put them at $3.09 I think they are trying to get the last cent out of you.
This is a really fancy Woolworths with a hot food section, cafe and sushi station. It's in a great location and has an underground carpark. The down side is that it's not overly large and some of the aisles are a bit narrow.
Really good woolies. Perfectly placed next to the station! Smaller than usual woolies, but doe it size, it's stocks a great array of snacks for all varities of snackers plus, the security guards are really friendly …
Lovely waiter who invited me to a chocolate milk (lactose free) after being a loyal client for a few days. Very caring and kind. He knew I had just found out that my dog was dying of cancer, I couldn’t help but tell him.
I went there yesterday and there was a man with a suit on roaming around the store, following customers around. It was very creepy and uncomfortable. Is this a new security guard? In any event it put me off going again.
Always like it, but a bit of a shambles just at present with workers. Also would love you to list products on a card at each end of every aisle in alpha order and relevant aisle number. If you want a volunteer, ask me.
Great staff but range is limited if you're on a budget. A relay has deleted many smaller size and Home brand items. ie: no 500 gm sugar. Best to treat it as convenience shop until the range is rethought. Can be busy
Medium-sized store, not all lines available. Customer service has improved greatly over the past 6 months and the store is now better stocked and cleaner than previously. Fresh fruit and vegies not always so fresh.
The management are so friendly and extremely caring at the same time. I fell ill while there and they looked after me despite the busyness of the store. Thankyou, Thankyou beyond words. Very Special people. Andre.
Honestly, I just wanted a bacon sandwich. Now this might be a sign from the Universe to quit meat altogether or it could just be a lack in quality control but it sure was enough to completely ruin my appetite.
I love the new fruit and vegetable section and I hear the new meat section will blow us all away. I'm not a fan of the sushi station taking deli staff away tho. It's resulted in longer waits for my Strasbourg.
Not a bad little Woolworths store located right on a tram stop of Fitzroy Street. What a bonus for the residents that reside above. This store has a community/village type feel about it which I really like.
Ever since they changed the layout of the store, nothing makes sense, things that should be grouped logically are randomly through the store. I've not spoken to anyone who thinks the new layout is good.
Parking is a nightmare here -they make it so difficult and irrating to get free parking when you shop here I usually just leave it and hand my ticket for 2 hours to the next person who pulls in.
I know it's a small Woolworths but when say Bulla 2 Litre ice-cream on special, I would like to have more than 1 flavour ie boring vanilla!!! e.g.. Cookies & Cream or at least Chocolate!
This may suit a suburban crowd. I just miss the beautiful supermarket that used to be here. It once had the cheapest organic milk and organic fruit and veggies... Now it's sad.
always amazing shopping there never a problem with anything staff are incredible and stock is always available go there every day have done for years wldnt shop anywhere else.
This Woolworths caters well to the area and audience- really good work team! Love the ready-to-wear options, compact layout, and cafe. Staff are helpful and friendly.
For those who recently arrived in St. Kilda this is an excelent place to do your weekly shopping. Good range of products and fruit and veg is cheap and very fresh.
Great location, right next to the tram line to and from Southern Cross Station. Only thing thats stopping it from being 5 star is that they need more variety.
Very behind the times. There was alot of car park spaces probably because name told you it cost money and it doesn't when we were in there we couldn't get out
Come here multiple times a week. Place is clean, staff are ALWAYS friendly, and and although the place is a leetle crowded it's an excellent woolies and BWS.
Pity it's not like the old IGA which had a good range of products not available at Cole's or Woolworths. More of a sugar despensory for kids and local drunks
This store does not have enough variety. Very limited for the traffic congestion that passes through their doors. Get more stock of variety prop l e!!!!
Small supermarket with a limited variety of goods if compared to bigger stores. But still a decent place with friendly staff. And has the essentials.
Most items are cheaper than 7-Eleven, Ezy Mart or other convenience stores, but costlier than Coles or South Melbourne Market. It's a large store.
Awesome location. Quite pricey. I'm not a big online supermarket guy, but when I needed it, this location doesn't offer it. A little frustrating.
Too exy very much a go grab if you're desperate not for any serious shopping! Convenient but too expensive! Also low on stock on a lot of basics!
Smelly food being cooked. Rude staff stacking shelves not letting customers past them. Unhelpful cashiers. Zero stars. Won't shop there again
What a dreadful layout. Not a shred of common sense employed in designing the layout. 25 mins of infuriation. Left me wanting to hurt people.
Good express safeway if you're in the area, but lacking in meat and veg selection. If you need a more comprehensive shop head to Acland st.
One of the newest shiniest supermarket ive been in.... otherwise the genealogy expectations of a general supermarket.... maybe a bit pricey
Really bad. Used to be a great supermarket. Now only selling instant foods, no range in produce, often missing items. never fully stocked.
Very limited varieties available, obviously targeting the higher-end market. It is convenient being open til midnight every night though.
Don't really like it, sorry.... it's just weird, cause it's not METRO, but they have so many products that a usual Woolies has missing...
Very poorly and confusing laid out supermarket. Being a smaller size than most supermarkets, this one only carries a very limited range.
Quaint little store. Not a huge range however was extremely happy to get blackberries at $2.50!! Never see them at that price in Perth.
Small shop so variety wasn't as per usual. My biggest issue was the fridge that had coke in it wasn't working else I would give it a 4
Very small with limited products available however there really isn't any competition around them. Its this or seven elevens basically
Getting a little limited on choice. Appears to be heading towards becoming a gourmet style outlet to the expense of everyday shoppers.
It's less than 500m from my house so that's a good point. Grocery selection is a little small, but the liquor store is excellent.
Due to its store size it maybe good for some basic essentials, it lacks more variety on others complementary essential products.
Great place, but the security guard on self serve checkouts is on a power trip, he thinks he's guarding Bin Laden or something.
Remodeled...again and now for sale!? Diminished range of more than half the products I would regularly buy. Dull as dish water
Clean environment, great variety, cashier machines could be increased to reduce waiting time. Store spaces are quite narrow.
Only good for emergency groceries. Most of the stuff is not available here and the one availabe are only the costly brands.
Small but complete woolies. Next to tram station. Very convinient. Many self service cashiers, almost never wait in line
They have quite a good coffee in the cafeteria, and plenty of lunch options, which is normally unusual for a Woolworths.
the security guards here are some of the best around at making it look like nothing could ever escape their attention.
7:15 am...no bread...no sandwiches...empty shelves. Put on some staff and pay them a decent day's wage! Not impressed
Very good range and selection. Everything you can expect from woolies is here. I wish there were more sales however.
At the 96 tram stop on Fitzroy St is convenient for those on public transport to pick up shopping on the way home.
A very small Woolworths to say there is a large one not far away. It is good for just grabbing essentials though!
Conveniently located next to St Kilda station. Good choice of products for seemingly small store. Friendly staff.
No customer service, really sad to see this here as Woolworths usually is where I shops for most of my grocery’s
Exceptional customer service from Molly. Friendly, professional and accommodating. Highly recommend this store.
Quite a small Woolworths so not a lot of variety. But they do have the basics on hand, as well as a few extras.
Good store, but how and why is that cranky Middle Aged woman behind the deli still employed? She’s so rude.
Smaller Woolies so selection isn't the greatest. They're missing quite a lot but have essentials and a deli
A bit small but friendly staff. Couldn't figure out what to do with my shopping cart at the tram stop exit.
Central location for staples in St Kilda. Has Bakery, cafe' and 'Food To Go' section. Only 5 or so aisles.
Have most of the stuff you need. Have exelent prosciutto. Would be nice with some more seafood options.
Was looking for no sugar coke, no no sugar coke. Had to get dc instead but busy place, quick in & out.
