"This is Devorah Rosen, l have been shopping with Woolworths for 30 years"
"Not the most organised Woolworths"
This store has 2 hour free parking, and number plate recognition so no tickets required. There's 2 parking levels which are quite large so you'll almost always find a space. It's also easy to drive in and out of unlike the really tight parking spots at nearby Coles. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. If you need to use a trolley, you will need a $1/$2 coin to unlock it, you can collect the coin back once you return it to the trolley bay after you've unloaded the groceries into your car. Wheelchair/pram friendly with lifts access between store & car parks. The location of this store is also quite convenient - even though the new Melbourne Square store is closer to me, I still come back to this store when I need to also drop into the post office + make a purchase from the south Melbourne market or make a purchase from Aldi or make a purchase from the pharmacy across the store etc. - it allows me to get various tasks done in one go because of its location in addition to the convenience of free parking within the locale.
Compared to other Woolworth's this one is very deficient. They demand a coin to get a trolley - who carries coins in a post-covid world? Blocked exits so I can't get a newspaper from the front because there are none inside. Seafood counters have an overhanging lip which you painfully catch your hand on when you reach up to receive a parcel. A dinging buzzer at the front of the store that no one turns off and drove my wife crazy. A checkout clerk who put the wrapped oysters in the shopping bag vertically and I had to tell him to lay them horizontally, which resulted in leaked oyster juice everywhere requiring everything to be cleaned when we got home ... not a pleasant shopping trip.
Tried to scan my Woolworths rewards card and it came up on the screen that it had registered on that sale, but when I got my receipt it showed that it hadn’t registered my card. The person at the front counter couldn’t have been less helpful and his manager was even more blasé about the whole thing. Said they couldn’t do anything even though around 6 months ago when this happened again the manager on duty then was able to credit me back the lost points on the spot. Seriously Woolworths have made so much profit, using inflation as in excuse for raising prices constantly they could invest more in customer service training for their staff. Absolutely disgraceful service.
This is Devorah Rosen, l have been shopping with Woolworths for 30 years. l just received an order from Woolworths online and most of the items were open, tampered with or missing. I posted a photo of what the vacuum sealed Woolworths brand slow cooked lamb shanks actually look like on the Woolworths South Melbourne Google page, no vegetables of any kind, only partially cooked and a thick congealed layer of saturated white meat fat covering both. I spoke just now to Janelle an incredibly rude and aggressive member of Woolworths customer service who put me on hold for 40 minutes then returned and told me abruptly they are only refunding a small amount of the order.
Not the most organised Woolworths. Very often there are no baskets in a logical place by the entrance. Last time I had to walk all the way around to the end of the self check out to find one. I pointed it out to the worker - "the baskets are in the wrong spot...there's none by the entrance".. And she replied, "oh really?" 15 mins later when I left and walked past the entrance again the baskets were still not replaced. Any decent worker who actually gives a stuff would have spent the 60 seconds to sort it out but it seems they prefer to inconvenience their customers. My wife saw a mouse in there a few months ago and the staff didn't seem to care either.
The product was expiring today and i was asked for price markdown. It was around 4:30 but the lady( Shehnaaz) told me that they can’t sell the product even if its Having the last date which is today. As she want to be aware that if it’s still having use by date how can she stop selling the product on the last date by herself. This is so rude and worst customer service which Woolies South Melbourne is having. She just wants the customer to let it go. Woolies South Melbourne should take the strict action against her for stopping the product and even Steggles should involve in this matter. So disgusting experience.
Ordered online a week ago where items I paid for are still ON STOCK at the time of the order. Came to pick up my orders and only 2 items were given to me. No decency at all to let me know this, days before the pick up. I could have bought or ordered on other stores if I knew this is going to happen . This is totally unfair to customers who ordered online on items that are still on stock at the time of the order. As I would not have ordered if the items are showing unavailable. Your management of online purchases is disgusting! I should have been paid for the damages this has caused me not just refund my money.
This is a good supermarket with a good selection of Italian ingredients and products (except the Victoria biscuits which are available at Coles only) and fresh vegetables. I particularly like the fresh meat and seafood counters. Staff are very helpful and smiling. If you have a trolley it’s not uncommon to have to wait some minutes in line at the checkout as staff is limited. The car park has a 1.5 hour free parking policy and it’s ticket free, which makes for for a smooth entry and exit. My partner who is from SE Asia says that the selection of Asian groceries is also much better than the average Woolworths.
Like all other large Woolworths stores, it has most of groceries you need. What made me write this review is the help of the staff. I was looking for the fresh organic fettuccine I found previously in other Woolworths stores. I asked a staff member if he knew where to find it. He didn't know, but he quickly found out, coming back with the exact package I was looking for. Furthermore, he engaged quirt me in a conversation about the subject and made my experience much more personal and satisfying.
Classic the fresh food people fare A very clean well thought out store with an excellent bakery, delli and butchers/seafood shop and an excellent and extensive international food aisle with the usual Asian, Indian and Mexican but also carries a large range of Italian and greek foods which reflects a true understanding of their location and customer base staff are friendly and want to be there unlike the coles up the road the difference between the two stores is like comparing night and day
Great location as it's very near my house. The customer service has increased a lot, especially in Deli. They always seem friendly and approachable. However, I noticed there are several things that could be improved. • Long wait, either in checkout or deli, due to limited staff I believe • Cages blocking pathway, and being left unattended • Presentation in deli, such as dry meat, marina mix looks unattractive (other Woolworths have salmon pieces in it), and often empty stocks
I think now Woolworths has to have the best customer service out of the two Giants Coles and Woolworths at least you can get a checkout quickly and not have to work for the company for free the check yourself out which also takes jobs away from people it's expensive as his Coles and I think they could look at reducing their profits and reducing their prices that would help inflation of course pigs would fly before any of that happened
I bought couple of items 2 days ago, and now I received a call that those items are not available to be picked up and we will refund the money back in next 3-5 days, so technically they hold my money for 7-8 days, what a nice way of ripping your customer off! Interestingly, it seems you can buy anything from website and the item might not be available to be picked up from the store, because they are lazy to check their inventory!
Not enough staff at all ...checkouts with long lines. I spent $180 today a sunday and had to pack my bags as the checkout boy just kept throwing my groceries into a large pile. After I paid and was trying to pack 5 woolworths plastic bags he is throwing the next customers groceries next to mine. No social distancing. Untrained staff. Hopeless. Avoid this woolworths always.
Pretty great Woolworths with open space and the usual products you would expect from any other. Located inside the building with other retailers. First time visiting this one and staff were helpful. Some safety measures here for COVID, but not really anyone enforcing the check in. And 2 of the hand sanitisers were empty, could do with some maintenance.
Since being pregnant it really frustrates me when checkout staff overpack my bags to the point I can’t carry them. Today arika noticed I was pregnant and not only made extra effort to pack them at a light weight but also carried them into my trolley for me. Although it’s only a small effort it makes my life a lot easier, thanks arika!
Its a Woolies, what you see is what you get !Need to do something about the pedestrian crossing at front door , have been nearly hit by cars on a few occasions crossing the road with our 3yr old... needs lights and cameras to protect customers from cars , delivery and hire scooters ! Does someone have to die before it changes...
Have just moved to the area so this is my nearest Woolworths. Really like the friendly staff, have found going early in the morning best for parking & ease of getting around the Supermarket. I feel in busy times sometimes the end of aisle displays inhibit ease of navigation while trying to avoid banging into other customers.
Worst Carpark - pay machine was broken and they wouldn’t let anyone out. People got held up and they asked everyone to bank transfer there and screenshot it email to their corporate team before letting anyone out?! How’s this allowed when it’s clearly the administrators fault for not maintaining the machine properly?
Not as clean as most Woolworths, especially when the roof leaks and there are no signs anywhere. I slipped on a puddle of water because I don't usually stare at the ground while I am shopping and I fell back and hurt my shoulder bad. Apart from that, the staff seem pretty nice, they just need to up their game.
I searched internet South melbourne has still in stock so I came here and I asked their staff for still have stock. he said I'm store manager so I don't need to check but he didn't understand what's I wanted to it.He just said 100%none here. Are you angry? I'm very uncomfortable his service.Never come again.
Had a great experience here!! I was treated amazingly by all staff during my shop all the way through to the checkout where I was served by a very helpful and positive guy named Jake. Amazing customer service by the whole team!! Will definitely be coming here for my weekly shop from now on!!
Went shopping there today, saw a special price tag in this product, check out and found the price was different, had been experienced this issue three times but always got ignored, some staff being so rude and ignorant. Really need to improve in customer service and product arrangement!
"Woolworths South Melbourne is a shopper's delight! Finding items is a breeze with their well-organized layout. The store is clean and fresh, creating a pleasant shopping experience. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to assist, making every visit enjoyable. Highly recommended!"
It's a pretty laid back store in these repressive times. 8th Sep it has this look of not everythings available. It is such a big store so there is plenty of choice. Car parking underneath has always been a breeze. It's never been my closest supermarket. I'm a regular.
Great range of produce and usually enough staff to assist with regular (non-self serve) registers. Don't worry if you didn't bring change for a trolley either, the service desk can sell you a reusable token for 35 cents and it can attach to your keychain! Lifesaver
A little advice, when a customer is standing at the service counter/cigarette booth waiting to be served, the security guard leaning on the counter and blocking paying customers while texting probably should move and allow the customers to be served. Just Sayin!.
Olivia who was working on the express checkout on Saturday May 4 spotted one of my packets of food was opened and had gone bad. Quickly grabbed another for me. That kind of attention to detail and care should be applauded. Generally polite and lovely too.
Very well located from across the South Melbourne market and has Aus Post across the riad, and Spotlight and a pharmacy within the premises, with plenty of covered and off street parking. Well stocked, can almost shop for everything here and around here.
I went to all the neighborhood markets and Woolworths had the most variety. They also had the best selection of gluten free foods. Their produce was fresh. I would recommend going to Woolworths if you need extra groceries or more unusual food items.
A magical place to shop. It’s magic because when you are there you just become invisible!! The staff can’t see you, they just keep talking with their friends because they can’t see you. Shopping while invisible sounds fun, but it’s not. …
Being a regular customer for many years, I know what they are selling and not selling. When I asked staff if they have beef bone in the stock. They rolled eye at me and said "We never sell them here". Just shown how lazy they are.
Easy access, and great shopping, convenient parking and easy accessible for wheelchair access. Have shopped here for over 9 1/2 years now and continue to today. South Melbourne Woolworths is a good place for all your shopping
They have made a lot of changes to this store recently with a coffee shop and a sushi bar. Much better then what it was before. It is missing on the product variety side of things hence the three stars not the four
Well packed woolies... Always have good stock amount and really friendly staff members. All of the staff were ready to help despite having bad staff response from another woolies of clarendon . This one is a gem..
Always has plenty of stock of everything you need. The vegetables have a great shelf life and the pre-made meals always have longer used by dates than other stores. Every section/department are always ship shape.
Not one of their better stores. Not a single trolley available yet again. One guy alone to serve the whole of the deli and seafood counter. It's faster and easier to walk across the road and shop at ALDI.
Been coming here since about 2011 or 12 but it was from September 2012 to January 2020 that it became a regular staple for the last job I did big supermarkets for, good people, never gave me any hassle
Log in to their website and book a time to shop. There are 15 min increments. This will allow you to bypass the entry line gaining V.I.P access.. like younger days at a night club lol …
Fantastic offer, so much better than their competitor in Port Melbourne. Think I've found my new place to shop. Convenient car parking and the range is so much better, no question really!
Dingo's Mate (All natural pet treats) and Uncle Charles (human popcorn seasoned with native spices) are new to the South Melbourne. Come show your support for Indigenous businesses.
Generally pretty good... However ! There are NEVER baskets at the front. It's always empty and I have to scan the counters for one underneath. Happens 99% of the time I'm there
Time to shame these guys!! Luckily I checked the price at the register!! Shower power 750ml is on special for $4.00 on the shelf but original price at the checkout!!
The store itself is pretty standard, medium sized but pretty busy due to the location so be prepared to be dodging people restocking down random aisles all the time
One of the closest non metro Woolworths to the CBD, easy to get here by walk, tram or bus, have a lot of stock and doesn't seem to get too busy during the morning.
Fantastic that they are open till so late on a Sunday! saved me for sure when I realised I needed more cat food for the following morning! Friendly staff too!
One of the best woolies around. More variety of meat and vegetables. They look fresher and has a great display. Easy to access. Car parking is never an issue.
Quality has dropped a bit recently but still good. Always visit after I go to the South Melbourne Markets. Can get very busy so better to go early in the day.
The Bakers dept today where awesome, and wentnout of their way to find me the bread I went to the store for (this store stocks Phillipa's bread - so good)
Entrance from either side of the block, big store, wide range. Parking is often quicker and easier above the Aldi across the Rd than carpark underneath
Great store, Friendly helpful staff AND BEST OF ALL... IS OPEN UNTIL 12AM DAILY! Which makes it one of my favourite Melbourne supermarkets!
Best location, can buy fresh produces, groceries and many more essential items for family, friendly staff are very helpful to customers.
I like this Woolworths, it's big, it has a variety of products and I always find deals. If I have never found Not Burger burgers here.
I LOVE lady fingers. Bet you didn't know they are vegan! And I can't leave without grabbing the Plantitude Granola Choc Chip cookies.
Adore this Woolies and its selection! I have a Woolworths closer to me, but I still try to come to this one if I can due to variety!
Close to the offices and the market. You can do your groceries during lunch time then after work just go straight home
Conveniently close to south Melbourne Markets and Aldi if one desires making shopping a lengthy event.
Poor cleaning standards and lack of stock here every time I visit. Would recommend a larger Woolies.
The convenient location. So, it's not overcrowded. Love their stock. Staff is always helpful.
Great staff and store was fully stocked I come in around 7:15 am unlike other supermarkets.
Excellent place for your weekly grocery shopping as well as anything else you like.
Is this a self service store, I see tills but nobody serving? Sick of this place.
Convenient location Limited things are available than a usual supermarket .
Always grateful for this place. Very busy but very well stocked.
Always fully stock with items we need or apart of the promotion.
Modern woolies with pretty good parking across the road.
I always find what I am looking for at this Woolies.
Easy underground free parking long hours 2 levels
Sejal was super helpful, great customer service.
Good place in South Melbourne for groceries.
Lots to choose from, under cover parking too
A very good famous supermarket in Australia.
Well stocked shelves and a big store
Got some salmon from deli very nice
Great friendly shopping experience
Nice enough Woollies, big store
Not the best Woolies in town.
Great place one shop stop.
Food great. Beer cold
