I'd be looking forward to visiting after recommendation from a couple of people. When I did visit midweek for lunch, I was disappointed. The waitress was very inexperienced and couldn't tell me much about any of the dishes. When I asked her to make my chai a bit stronger as it tasted like warm milk, she looked awkward and after a pause said 'I suppose so', before having a very serious, indepth discussion with the older man about it. It made me feel unwelcome. So I was presented with another chai, not much different from the first and when I was asked by the older man how it was, I politely let him know. He became very defensive, saying nobody has ever said that before (completely invalidating my concern), before turning his back and walking away. Left a bad taste in my mouth (literally). To add insult to injury, before I left I visited the restroom. Inside of the toilet bowl was splashed with human faeces. I walked out and popped my head into the office to inform the older man that he should check the toilet. As I went to the front to pay he called out to me to ask what was wrong with it, making me have to go through the humiliation of telling him to check inside the bowl. After doing so, he came out and started shouting a very insincere apology across the restaurant with excuses about the cleaners and that the staff can't be checking the toilets all day. Not really my problem, I was just doing you a favour and letting him know. This man is very passive aggressive and should be retired. I have read many of your other reviews about his rudeness. I won't be back to give you a second chance after the way I felt when I walked out - invalidated and unwelcome. There is stiff competiton out there.

There is a thoughtfulness to the both the presentation & taste re the cuisine here..I’ve dined here 3 times. After the first time I might never have come back. That was down to an amazingly rude waitress and the party I was meeting having ordered a vegetarian banquet for me, and I’m not vegetarian and not ordering gluten free, when I can’t eat wheat. I’m so glad I was persuaded to return and am constantly looking for opportunities to meet my friends now at Zeins. Firstly there are such great choices ….and when you have wheat eaters, non wheat eaters, meat eaters, non meat eaters, dairy intolerant, green veggies intolerant etc people coming together, the menu really offers something for everyone….and not just one or two things …..I’m anxious to return not just to eat again what I’ve already had, which was so yummy, but to try the sundry other things. In short, I would say, these people really know how to do food! And the presentation, along with the taste, is superb….there are often many elements in the dishes ….the gluten free pancakes were the best I’ve ever eaten, with a great combination of flavours….the sweet potato corn fritters are crunchy & a substantial serve …the chai & dirty chais have been great….I wish I could order half serves of the fritters & the pancakes so I could have both …because I certainly can’t eat the full serves consecutively bc they’re too filling, and I’m usually a big eater. The hand cut chips with zaatar are very tasty and immensely filling…and the vegetarian banquet was very delicious too….this place should always be full….I parked behind Leo’s across the road….2 hour spots and apparently you can park at the back of Zeins ….well done for creating such a great tasty versatile menu! & we’ll priced, too ….

Located in Heidelberg, Zein’s Authentic offers an extensive all day menu with a Lebanese twist. Visiting for brunch we ordered the chilli soujuk scramble and the Zein’s pancakes along with tea, coffees and an OJ to drink. The chilli soujuk scramble featuring stirred egg with soujuk, caramelised onion, coriander & chilli & potato with a side of tahini, tomato purée and tilma bread was unlike any chilli scramble I’ve had to date. I enjoyed the Lebanese touches, the sujuk and potato was delicious and the flavours of the dish worked together beautifully. The bread was lovely and soft and I liked that the sauces were served separately so you can add as little or as much as you’d like. This dish is on the filling side so it’s a good option if you’re very hungry or have a big appetite. The Zein’s pancakes served with strawberries, pomegranate seeds, walnuts, peanut butter, organic caramel sauce, vegan chocolate sauce & coconut ice cream were beautifully presented. I liked that the pancakes were on the smaller side, I think it’s a good sized portion for one person without needing to share. The peanut butter and chocolate sauce were a great combo. I found the dish to be nicely balanced and I liked that it wasn’t overly sweet. Overall I had a lovely experience at Zein’s Authentic. I really enjoyed the Lebanese twist on the brunch fare and I recommend you check them out if in the area. I rate it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.

The food was delicious. No complaints what so ever. The young waitress is a lovely and polite. But the owner is beyond rude. I did find this last time on my visit when i complimented his staff that assist my autistic grandson. He didn’t seem to be interested in the hood work his staff give. He questioned the 20% discount I had and seemed irate into to honour the discount and kept getting the young girl to ask me questions In error when I booked I did accidentally book 3 times and was advised in a rude and very unprofessional manner it was unacceptable. I did explain I did it in error but only received one email confirming one booking. I was very polite and apologetic to be spoken to very abruptly .Due to the owners rudeness I would never go back. He really needs to self evaluate his attitude to customers if he wants to stay in business. I did compliment the young girl on her lovely service when I paid but also gave my thoughts on her manager. Which were unpleasant

4.5 We dined at Zeins Authenic is a busy Saturday night. Welcomed by friendly staff and ushered into a welcoming venue. I do enjoy an Lebanese feast and the dinner menu had some classic examples. We started with a couple of smoothie/mocktails which we enjoyed while waiting for our entrees to arrive . The Pomegranate dream was delightfully tart while the Strawberry colada smooth and sweet with a lovely coconut taste. We ordered a giant trio of dips and dips were tasty. I enjoyed the baba ghanouj which wasn’t particularly smokey the highlight would have to have been the beetroot hummus especially when combined with the zaatar spiced breads. For mains we had the entree sized Lebanese meatballs, the juicy chicken tawook and the zesty fattoush salad.  Each dish was full of fresh herbs and loaded with banging Lebanese flavours. The serves here are big so order with that in mind. For dessert we ordered the orange and hazelnut soufflé served with coconut ice cream. As with most soufflés this took a while to cook to order but was well worth the wait. Delicious Thanks to the team at Zein Authentic for their hospitality

I had the pleasure of attending Zeins the other day for an absolute feast. What a wonderful venue on the main Heidelberg strip. With a selection of both mezza and main dishes there was plenty to chose from. It is also amazing that I noted the amount of choice for anyone with a dietary requirement. A + in my books! Diving into the food, the most notable dishes for me were the ‘Mamas Falafel Bowl’ with falafel, tabouli, pickled vegetables, tomato, cucumber, olives and a side of the freshest zaatar bread! The combination of fresh flavours complimented the crunch of the falafel amazingly well. I also loved the ‘Zeins Pancakes’ which were one of the most stunning dishes. Coming with strawberries, pomegranate seeds, walnuts, peanut butter, organic caramel sauce, vegan chocolate sauce and coconut ice cream. This dish had everything you need and more. The coconut ice cream was light and refreshing to balance out the peanut butter and pancake batter. A beautiful place to dine, anytime of the day. With amazing staff and a warm and welcoming interior, I would highly recommend this place for every meal.

Revisited Zein’s for dinner and it was superb. The meat platter was fresh and delicious. I tried the Zucchini chips for the first time and wow, wow, wow! They were absolutely delectable and I’ll definitely be ordering these menu items again, as proudly suggested by the friendly staff. Special thanks to the host Rob, and Andy who topped off the beautiful meal with a nice, hot, strong coffee, the way I like it. A highly recommended place to dine, drink at the bar or just simply have a coffee and relax.

From the moment I stepped into Zeins restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The ambiance had a warm décor, creating a cozy and authentic setting that instantly set the stage for my culinary exploration. The attentive staff and their knowledge of the dishes further enhanced my dining experience, making me feel like I was truly exploring the rich tapestry of Lebanese cuisine. Zeins cuisine emphasizes the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. include olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and a variety of herbs such as mint, parsley, and cilantro. The flavoursome of Zeins cuisine is authentic and cooked fresh, never disappoints. Certainly come back for more. The Orange and Vodka Soufflé was delicious and indulgent dessert that combines the bright, citrusy flavor of oranges with the subtle kick of vodka. It was delicious, will be coming back for more.

Zeins Food & Wine previously known as Zeins Authentic really stepped it up for lunch. Bringing beautiful Lebanese cuisine to the front and centre, each dish was a classic full of authentic Lebanese flavours. The hospitality of the staff was hands down incredible, our waitress was friendly, funny and attentive to all of our requests. We ordered: Cauliflower Fattoush - Marinated cauliflower, tomato, cucumber, red capsicum, Spanish onion, mint, parsley, chilli, lemon, tahini, paprika, & sumac spices $22 Fava Bean Heaven - Fava beans infused with lemon, mint, onion and garlic served with a side of tabouli, pickled veggies & Lebanese bread $18 Lamb Skewers served with salad and eggplant dip $25.50 Unfortunate location being right in front of the pedestrian crossing and not many inside window seats available but inside was nicely decorated.

First time here, & we’re already enjoyably impressed with the food as offered by this Lebanese restaurant. We had seafood platter & meat of the day. We chose goat meat instead of lamb shank for their meat of the day. As for the seafood platter, we may have tasted the presence of nutmeg in it. Nutmeg is the seed (or the ground spice derived from that seed) of several tree species of the genus Myristica, fragrant nutmeg, or true nutmeg (i.e. Myristica fragrans - an evergreen tree indigenous to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia). We’d keep coming back for their Lebanese dishes, as this restaurant is located conveniently close to Heidelberg train station too - apart from having ample parking in this area.

Finally had a chance to come back to Zeins for dinner. Always have great brunches here. On the night we had: - Pumpkin kibbi served with side of hummus - Samke harra (grilled barramundi fillet) - Bata B’faran (oven braised duck) That pumpkin kibbi was a great starter, crispy on the outside filled with feta on the inside dipped into hummus. I am usually not a fan of hummus but that side of hummus was so good, I keep going back for more. The barramundi dish was nice and fresh and light on the stomach. And lastly, the duck dish, duck with fennel, red beans and spinach. I need more of that pomegranate molasses, was so yum. Although the duck was a bit dry in my opinion but flavours wise, pretty good! Overall, would definitely come back to try other dinner items on the menu again!

We have eaten here twice in the past month, pre-COVID lockdown 4.0. I was searching for a place in Rosanna or near Rosanna for dinner that was Coeliac and gluten-free friendly - so it was difficult. Firstly, we contacted Ditto Ditto but sadly they do not cater for these requirements. Then we contacted Zeins Authentic and to our great delight not only do they cater for Coeliac and gluten free diets, they seriously go out of their way to cater for us. This Lebanese restaurant emanates warmth and style. The staff are really friendly and very considerate to my needs, they even had gluten free Lebanese style bread – which I couldn’t believe. The food is delicious, varied and caters well for a family with difficult dietary requirements. We felt at home.

I had the pleasure of visiting this cafe during the week, and if I had to describe it in one word it would be AH-MAZING! Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and overall welcoming atmosphere! I was definitely excited to try some of these Lebanese inspired dishes as soon as I looked at the menu! We decided to order the Nourish bowl, Cauliflower fattoush salad, Vegan hot chocolate and Banana nut smoothie. I was absolutely blown away by the amazing flavours in all of these dishes and was more impressed by the modern twists they put on all of their dishes. This is definitely not your typical brunch cafe! If you haven't visited yet, definitely put it on your go to list! I can't wait to go back!

I came here w a friend as a plus one for brunch. This is a great cafe in the main street of Heidelberg. I initially ordered a Banana Nut Smoothie which was almond milk, cocoa, banana, peanut butter and dates. This was tasty, vegan and good for you. I tried the Famous Fritters which were sweet potato corn fritters w smashed avo, zucchini, & topped with tomato, parsley and onion salsa. And I had a side of bacon. This dish was really yummy. The bacon was well cooked, and the fritters were well cooked and crunchy on the outside. Overall this was a really good brunch and I just want wanted to thank the owners for the opportunity to visit their cafe.

Visited Zeins Authentic in the heart of Heidelberg yesterday to catch up with my good friend for brunch. We sat outside the front of the cafe as it was a lovely sunny day and felt extremely comfortable and relaxed. We tried: - Strawberries & Cream Bowl - Nourish Bowls - Pita Pockets - Feeling Green - Banana Nut With such a welcome front of house in Sam you feel at home as soon as you walk into this Lebanese cafe. The food and drinks we're impeccable with my favourite dish being the nourish bowl. I would absolutely recommend this cafe and plan to return shortly!

Happened to pass by the ZA on the New Year's eve and decided to buy middle eastern sweets for my friends. Rude, old man who served in the shop started shoving the sweets into paper bag. I asked if he can put them in a box. The man rolled eyes and pulled out a big styrofoam container and transferred the sweets there. My purchase looked ugly and not presentable as a gift. Later I realized the man also charged me extra $2 for the container without letting me know. Will definitely avoid the place in the future!

Zeins is a lovely cafe, beautiful interior and a comfortable outdoor sitting area too. We started off with some coffees which were great! They were made perfectly and I loved the glasses they were served in.We shared the vegan shakshuka, hot cakes, chilli soujuk scramble and a salad. The dishes were presented beautifully and made with the freshest of ingredients. The portions were so big, you definitely won't leave feeling hungry! Zeins is worth a visit, the menu here is really good with so many great options. Thank you for the invite we had a fab time

Brunch club 4.0 recently was organised at @zeinsauthentic and we all had an amazing time. Zeins Authentic serves food that combines the traditional flavours of Lebanon with a contemporary twist. We had so many different dishes to taste and share, all of them being top notch. They also offer an elaborate variety of cocktails, mocktails & smoothies, all off which are so good. So if you are in or around the area, definitely stop by and try some of their amazing dishes. Follow our instagram page @we.eat.travel.love for more amazing insights

Amazing, doesn't even begin to do the food and service we received justice! The staff were genuinely friendly and we couldn't fault anything with the food. We had the mixed mezza board, sea food platter and dessert was qatayef. All of which were fantastic. They're a great mix of traditional and modern. Would highly recommend this place to anyone as they have options for Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan, as well as traditional Lebanese foods. If you want to try something different, full of flavour and vibrant? Please come here!

Wow what an experience would have to be one of my top 3 for breakfast I had the Chilli Soujuk scrambled and absolutely amazing from the fluffy scrambled eggs with soujuk (beef strips) with the home made humus and the bread to die for worth every cent. Food was average for the price and a Sunday lunch. I found a long hair tangled into my fried Zucchini at the bottom of the bowl. Shared the finding with the staff. The chef came out and said he doesn’t have any hair?! And the hair doesn’t belong to the staff so he can’t tell where it coming from!!! I said I found it in my food while I am sitting here! Maybe you should be sorry or say Sorry! Unfortunately I have received a very rude attitude and won’t go back again.

Had dinner here last night. Food was ok and wait staff was nice. The man I assume to be the owner was downright rude however. We came in and asked for a table and he rolled his eyes and asked if we had a booking. Sir we are in a pandemic and you just opened back up. The restaurant was WAS NOT FULL IN THE LEAST. Why are you so thankless to have customers? He was UPSET that we were there. If it wasn't for my friend who hated confrontation I would have walked right back out. Never ever coming back here.

Invited for brekkie Zeins brings a Lebanese twist to classic cafe menu. Zeins have both indoor and outdoor seating for those sunny days. I ordered the vegan shashuka and it was one of the best shashuka I've had in Melbourne, definitely didn't miss the baked eggs in this. The classic chilli scramble dish had sujuk added for that Middle Eastern twist. The pancakes are a stunner and tasted great. Overall a great cafe with a delicious Middle Eastern spin on many popular dishes.

  • Carol-lea Morgan

Zeins Authentic has everything you could want in a cafe, all with a Middle Eastern twist on the menu. A relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and great location make it a winner. The food is outstanding, as is the coffee. I would definitely recommend the fritters as they are so full of flavour, and the pancakes are some of the fluffiest pancakes that I have had in recent times. Everything is plated beautifully, and the food is fantastic.

  • Frederick Lee

Zeins Authentic, a cafe with Lebanese inspired cuisine in Heidelberg. We visited this amazing venue over the weekend for brunch. Fell in love with the fit out as soon as we arrived. The food we had is Salmon bowl and Chocolate vegan gluten free pancake. Love the salmon dish as it was perfectly cooked and comes with greens. The pancake is the highlight of our visit as we love the chocolate sauce and the pancake texture.

  • James Barry

This café has amazing Lebanese cuisine. I stumbled upon it while needing a place to wait there, and I had the Lebanese breakfast (called the Way it’s Done in Lebanon). Honestly, it took me back to breakfasts in Beirut - so fresh and with so much flavour. The staff are amazing as well and incredibly hospitable. Don’t miss this place.

They offer multiple options for vegan items among other mostly non-vegan meals. Food took a little while to get to us but was enjoyable none-the-less. Zaataar chips were fantastic, I wouldn't recommend the grilled eggplants (quite bitter), and the sharing board was enough for three of us to fill up comfortably. Plenty of dessert options (baklava) and drinks (alcoholic mostly) available, but didn't try this time.

Rating Minus 1 - *** WARNING*** Don't expect customer service. Went to this c r a p hole on Sun 27.2.22 at 11:40 am, asked a question regarding the menu and the 2 x female workers, one making coffee muttered something to each other and laughed. There was nothing really to laugh about. My family walked out and went elsewhere. They will treat you like garbage. Obviously these 2 were not the owners.....So sad...

  • Iain Williamson

Came here on a Sunday morning when it almost empty and waited over 40 minutes for toast, while having the owner pretentiously correcting me on what type of bread I could have. And top it all off a surcharge on using card that I wasn’t informed of until I paid! Completely un-compliant with common decency and consumer law. Food was decent and the coffee was okay, however not enough to redeem Zein’s performance.

  • Daniel Shaw

A healthy variety of menu options with many interesting and tasty dishes. They also have a delicious selection of sweets and dips that are excellent for a small snack or with a coffee. My partner and I have visited Zeins several times over the last year and have enjoyed each experience. The staff have been friendly each time, answer our questions with courtesy and have been helpful in selecting menu items.

  • Veronika Klaic

The food was absolutely exceptional abundant interesting, flavourful great value, coffee was delicious. Nice simple interior too. Service was really good, though one server when asked what was good her (cute! not) unhelpful reply was “everything is good! ) really ?? didn’t really help and she was just not very adept with the menu the other waitress was great! Looking forward to going again!

  • Danielle Shannon

Went there for a dinner party. It is a great place. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. I had the braised lamb shank. The lamb was so tender it just melts in your mouth. Lovely atmosphere for a get together like we had. Food was served in a very timely manner considering we had about 15 people at our table. Will definitely be back to this wonderful place. 10/10

This cafe has such amazing food and drinks. I love how many vegan, gluten free and dairy free options they have! It’s a Lebanese twist on Aussie favourites. My favourite savoury dish are the corn fritters as they are crispy and have the most delicious glaze! The best sweet dish are the vegan pancakes which are also gluten free! It’s a great place to take family and friends.

  • EatOutWithJo

What a great place, my coffee was superb & brunch was amazing! I was very impressed with all the meals I got to sample but the pancakes were a standout, especially with that delishhhh pb & chocolate sauce. Great Lebanese feast with a very modern twist! This place also has an amazing drink list, lovely atmosphere & attentive staff. I can't wait to revisit soon!!

Not sure if it was an off night, but we had a bad time here - took 40 minutes to get a drink after we arrived, for the entrees close to an hour. There were flies everywhere annoying everyone during their meals. The food was good, but no service. Plus the eftpos was down and we had to walk a block to get cash from the atm. Sorry, won't be coming back.

We had a great Sunday brunch here yesterday!! We tried three dishes and two smoothies and all was presented so well. Smashed Avo, Mamas falafel bowl & Cauliflower Fattoush salad with chicken are the three dishes we had – all were delicious… we were extremely impressed! Cant wait to come back here and try out there Dinner menu.. great spot. CIMelbourne

This splendid restaurant does many dishes which are gluten free and also vegan — and it tastes amazing. Our new favourite. Pity they are 1 1/2 hours drive away from Geelong, although the dessert menu makes it tempting to turn around and try more of their beautiful dishes! Daughter of owner/chef is reportedly GF and vegan. Explains the great choices:-)

  • Anthony Campisi

Enjoyed a Sunday brunch at this new contemporary middle-eastern cafe. Interior is well presented with an excellent menu. We ordered the Shakshuka and Ful D'Amas and coffees. The food was very well presented with generous servings and very tasty. It was good to sit down and not feel rushed. I can see this being a regular dining experience. Recommended.

My partner and I went there the other night. The food was amazing, everything was cooked perfectly, everything had so much flavour to it but nothing overpowering, it was perfect. The dessert was delicious and the pomegranate drink I got was amazing. Customer service was also great, I’d highly recommend this place.

Tuck into a delicious Middle Eastern feast here, featuring dishes such lamb shank, lamb cutlets and falafels, and also sweet treats and pretty cocktails too. Flavours are bold and delicious, and execution is excellent. Open for breakfast all the way to dinner, you'll be assured of a fun and satisfying feast here.

A cosy cafe with the friendliest staff. The seats are quite close. Nice interior and warm lighting. Gluten free pancakes - semi crisp and perfectly cooked. The Nutella is warm and complimented with the peanut butter. Fritters - so warm and the fritters are flavorful and perfectly pairful with the lemon wedge.

Food quality was ok. I had falafel which was ok nothing special. We ordered for Coffee Mocha which was pathetic. Most irritating part was the value/price...which was 25$ one falafel and one coffee...they charged 0.5% surcharge on debit/credit card payment. I would rate it pathetic.

Agreed with the other reviewer that the waitress (lady) is nice and friendly, but old guy in cashier is plain rude and unfriendly. Should take note of his attitude. Food was ok. The only reason i gave 3 stars is the friendly lady waitress. Won't bother to come back.

One of the best lamb salad dishes I have ever had. Was shocked when it came out and even more when I tasted it. The humus around the bowl was fresh, the lamb beautifully cooked. The burgers that my friends had were loved as well. Highly recommend this gem.

I am so happy to spend my Sunday lunch with my friends in Zeins. A nice and quiet environment and tatsy dish of falafel and chips. Every one in my group loved their food. Staffs were super helpful and lovely. Also the coffees were pretty good.

Such a fantastic place. The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food is absolutely delicious. The refurbishment is very well done. A must visit for anyone coming to Heidelberg.

Have been here for breakfast for a few days in a row in the past. Recently went in for dinner and what an awesome experience. Great food and friendly accommodating staff (if you have kids with weird demands!). Will definitely be going back!

My family and I had a yummy lunch today at this beautiful restaurant. The food and drink were fresh, flavoursome and brilliant. The staff and manager were attentive and wonderful to us all including my daughter Rebecca. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for middle eastern cuisine, look no further. Went had a meal there with a few friends and the food was amazing. I had the Kafta Mishwee. Meat was tender and delicious. The fattoush salad was so fresh and full of flavour.

Best value seafood platter around. $42 for a massive platter - was shocked when it wasn't for two! Dips were rich, creamy and balanced. Bravo team. Service was personable but not pretentious. Hidden gem and very glad they take walk ins!

Very friendly service. Was able to walk in and get a seat. Our first dinner out since the beginning of Covid. Good selection of food. I had baramundi that was fresh and well cooked. Really enjoyed our meals. Will definitely go back

Great food and service. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the meat balls. They even made our fussy five year old a sandwich which saved a lot of meal time arguing! Thanks for a lovely lunch, we'll be back.

Nice addition to the available restaurants in Heidelberg. Party of 8. Went for the buffet. Food was good. Reasonable value. Varied experience with the service with several in our party arguing against leaving any tip!

Such a great menu and so many vegan and gluten free options. It made dining a breeze. I can't wait to order again and try more of the menu. Really lovely service too. If this is local to you, definitely pop past.
