Haven't rented with Alamo for years but gave them a try. I don't think I'll go back to them, though. Our first vehicle had a nail in the tire and within 48 hours we began to lose air pressure. We had to drive 2 hours out of our way to replace the car, though there was a local Enterprise (which owns Alamo) in the town where we discovered the problem. Ironically, we called the Alamo customer service line from the parking lot of that Enterprise office. Of course, we have no clue whether the nail was already in the tire when we picked it up or whether it got picked up while we were driving...though we were never off the highway. However, when we got the replacement vehicle, we only left the lot when a low pressure light came on in that vehicle. They put more air into the tires and sent us on our way. A day later the low pressure light came on again but we just monitored it because it appeared that is all Alamo was willing to do. Then, we got a damage report on first car we had (you know, with the nail in the tire?). When we returned that vehicle, the agent indicated there "might" be some damage though the location of the damage made no sense. We inspected the car at the gate, before driving out, though the garage was dark, the car was dark colored, and we couldn't see well whether there was any damage or not. I've asked Alamo to send me information about the damage before giving them any insurance information but I'm still awaiting a response. I'm irritated that they cost us at least 2 hours on the road on a work related trip and we had to most of the business trip worried that we'd have a deflated tire when we least expected it. I'm happy to give them insurance information once I see the report. But here's what I want to know...can I bill them for the lost time?

Horrible customer service, my experience picking up the vehicle I pre-paid for was ridiculous. I get to the counter at San Antonio airport and give them my drivers license and MasterCard, which states on their website that is an acceptable form of payment. The woman behind the counter proceeds to tell me that I can’t use that card because it’s a prepaid debit card. I informed her it most definitely is a credit card, and it’s the card I use every time I travel and I’ve used it with them before. She keeps telling me that it is not a credit card and can’t use it, so she will have to cancel my reservation because of it. The manager comes out and is just as helpless as she is. I tell them to go ahead and cancel that it’s ridiculous. Then the manager proceeds to tell me that they cannot cancel on their end nor refund my money. After wasting 30 min, now I have to call customer service to cancel my reservation. By this time I’m so frustrated so I laugh and say whatever, I have no car and now I have to spend more to rent somewhere else. As I’m walking away my kids loudly informed me that they are rolling their eyes at me. So these are the type of people I had to deal with. l called customer service since they can’t seem to be capable of doing anything. I’m told that “they’re working on it” and it’s gonna take approximately 10 business days for me to get my refund because it shows on their end that I never showed up for pickup. Lesson learned! I’ll just stick to renting from Hertz. Had zero issues getting a rental and paid less than at Alamo.

A few months ago, I completed the simple process to renting a mid-size SUV through Alamo rentals. When we landed at San Antonio airport last weekend, we were impressed with the smooth process of using the QR code provided in the line for the check-in desk. This QR code was provided for those who already had a reservation and didn't want to stand in line if it was long. I completed the online confirmation process and we went down the escalator to the rental car lot. All we had to do was show the confirmation page to one of the employees and he guided us to a specific area of the lot. He said to pick any car in this section and the keys were available either on the dash or console. We couldn't decide which car to go with since there were so many options so he asked us a few questions and encouraged us to go for a Dodge Durango. We really liked the car and enjoyed using it all weekend. Returning the car was just as simple of a process. We followed the signs back to the rental car lot and pulled into a line of cars where an employee greeted us as we unloaded the car. He was very nice and attentive. All in all, the process was smooth and quick. We wasted no more than 10-15 minutes talking to him and we were on our way! I would definitely use them again!

Alamo exceeded my expectations!! This was my first time renting a car and I was so scared. I was worried how pick up would go, the paperwork, drop off and worst of all unexpected fees. But luckily Alamo made my first rental experience an amazing one! I booked this over the phone through Costco which was way too easy. Once arriving I was able to checkin in on the app and go right to pick up, amazing! Cynthia in San Antonio was the best and got us into a 4Runner right away. Which from expecting to get into a Nissan Rouge was a awesome upgrade! Especially since I drive a Toyota myself. It was freshly cleaned and full of fuel. I had 0 issues with any part of driving. It had apple car play and was so fun to drive! When dropping off I was worried that it would take so long and I might miss my flight. I was wrong! I was able to drive to the rental drop off area, leave my keys in the car and was on my way! Not only that when I dropped off the cost was the same as what I was told! Thank you so much Alamo for such an amazing first rental experience!

This is one of the best, if not the best, rental counters I have ever been to. Not to get into specifics but I messed a few things up during the booking and Al went out of his way to fix my error. There a lot of places in the world that need to take some lessons from Al. Al could see my travel pains when I walked up to the counter and I would rate him 10/10 maybe even give his sincereness a super human rating. Al deserves a bonus for his outstanding customer service! Wait, it didn’t end there. The young man (sorry didn’t catch your name) with the black coat displaying multiple military patches was beyond helpful. He guided us to the car section, engaged in some solid conversation and truly cared. Yes, there is more. Driving out of the parking lot and the young lady working the booth was fantastic. Super joyful, happy and loved her job. Thank you! San Antonio Alamo Airport rental staff is truly exceptional. Even if they don’t meet their metrics, they deserves the maximum cooperate bonus for keeping their customers happy.

I'm giving 3 stars because customer service at the front desk was amazing. Even the workers downstairs giving you the car were great. Everything seemed great until we returned the car. We weren't even in park yet when a man came to the window and asked if we knew about the front bumper partially coming off. Luckily I read previous reviews that said they will try to do this to you, so I made sure to take a video of the car before we left. So we showed them the video and it clearly showed the damage was there before. We sent them a Screenshot and they said great all is good. Well 2 weeks later we get an email that says they filed a damage claim against us. Turns out it was for that bumper. Once again we said we had video and pictures, so they immediately said nope you're good, we will close the case. So while customer service getting the car was great, just make sure you take a video of the whole car, even the bottom. Because without that, it would've been their word again ours.

When I rented the car last week, I had just forfeited a rental I made 1-2 weeks earlier… all because I made an error on the reservation. I had spent 1 1/2 hours talking to various people with the rental company and a 3rd party broker. I was not happy, and was late leaving town. After doing a little online shopping in the terminal thru a 3rd party broker, I met Al at your (Alamo) counter. I grumbled a little under my breath about the ugliness of past 1 1/2 hour. Otherwise Al & I had a warm & wonderful conversation while conducting business. He was very professional, efficient, funny, & quality focused, while offering empathy for the events earlier in my morning. To be clear… Al gives outstanding customer service!! Because of the the great interpersonal skills & customer service of Al, I will FIRST look to Alamo for my future rental car needs. With heartfelt respect & gratitude… Thanks Al !!

Avoid at all costs. They will force you to hold responsibility for previous vehicle damages and send you a bill without explanation or reasoning. Vehicle Inspections prior to rental are also done personally in a extremely shaded parking garage, which makes it easy to overlook minor or hard to see damages. I am currently facing an issue where they are billing me close to $2K for a rental in May. They had verbally explained to me in person and by phone that the cause was from hail; however, hail had never occurred during my rental period and a simple weather report should have been sufficient proof for my innocence. Unfortunately that is not the case and they refuse to provide any reasoning or contact. They are only sending me a bill that avoids mentioning the cause of the damage, which is extremely suspicious as this bill needs to be submitted to the insurance provider.

The service and ease of the rental process was great. I was able to use the "Skip the Counter" option and I must say that helped make the process so much easier. I didn't have to worry about feeling that I was going to be forced in to getting some type of added coverage I didn't need, etc. Also the options to choose from were great. I booked a minivan and there were at least 7 different for me to choose from. The vehicle were all cleaned and sanitized, plus they had extra sanitizing wipes in the vehicle for me if I would've wanted to reassure myself my wiping the surfaces down myself. The return process was just as smooth. Just drove up, they scan the entry of the vehicle and asked if I was ok with an email receipt, which I gladly accepted. I will continue ding business with Alamo for my future car needs.

We generally always choose Alamo or Enterprise for our vehicle rentals on trips. The service and the vehicles have always been good. I do, however, have a complaint regarding our most recent trip. Due to airline issues, our flight to Austin (where our vehicle was reserved) was delayed and we wouldn't get in until 11:35pm. I tried repeatedly to reach someone at Alamo Rental at the Austin airport to fine out if we would still be able to get our vehicle at that hour. Nobody would answer the phone. It rang busy forever. The guy at there general/national number was no help and I could barely understand him. He just referred us to the Austin office even though we told him that we could not reach anyone there. For these reasons, we may now consider other rental companies for our trips.

Excellent customer service! I had reserved a car for my San Antonio trip for October 11-16. Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly employee who walked me to the car models in the category I had reserved. He helped me pick out a car and gave me instructions on how to operate the transmission, and detailed directions on how to exit the parking garage. When I returned the car at the end of my vacation, a kind employee named Mr. Rodgers offered to help me unload my luggage, and walked me to the aisle that would take me to the airport. I appreciated that because I get lost easily in a complex place like SAT. The aisle had yellow stripes on it and he told me to “follow the yellow brick road”, which gave me a smile and confidence. Will definitely use Alamo again.

I just had to write a review when I came encounter with Mr. Wolfe at the Alamo. I recently rented a car from Alamo for a small getaway weekend. This was my first time ever renting from Alamo and renting from the airport so I was completely lost . Mr. Wolfe was the first person I came in contact with and I was so grateful for that, he told me exactly where I needed to go. When I arrived at the counter no one greeted me so I thought no one was available upstairs so I went back downstairs to the garage and Mr. Wolfe asked me what happened, he said I will walk you up and make sure you get the help you need. They don’t make great customer service reps like him anymore, because of him I will continue to rent from Alamo and I hope to see him there !

You guys keep sending stuff so I'll write a review. Here's your damn review. The lovely idiot at Alamo car rental took off the front plate to the BMW which is illegal in the state of Texas. Due to this fact I was pulled over and almost late to the wedding I needed to officiate. The cop was at least sympathetic to my situation. However, he too was annoyed with the stupidity of the rental company, so he gave me a warning. Upon dropping the car off I was given a dumb excuse as to why they remove the plate off and given a day removed from my total cost. I was going to not write this at all and forget about the situation, but no this company INSISTED for a week straight that I write them a review. Here's your damn review.

The staff was courteous and efficient. The vehicle I reserved was not ready for pick. My daughter and I spent over an hour waiting for the rental. To me this defeats the purpose of the reservation. I also used the counter-less pickup option, in the hope that the time spent at the rental counter would be minimized. The Alamos counter-less feature proved to be useless. The manager kindly gave me a substantial discount for my troubles. The vehicle however was dirty on the inside and the outside. I have a two year child to think of, so I decided to disinfect the interior. Disinfecting the vehicle took over an hour to complete.

The employee working the counter was nice and friendly, which was great considering our flight didn't get in until 11pm. We had reserved a midsize car. When we got checked in, they told us that all they had left were pickup trucks and minivans. It was a little annoying. We were told that if we wanted, we could come back the next day and swap it out, but that just didn't fit with our schedule. The other odd part was that we were not given a specific car. This is the only time I have been directed to a lot and told to pick whatever I wanted from a specific area. I guess it was kind of nice, just odd practice.

Everything was good until after I returned the truck. I received my bill and was told everything looked great. About 30 minutes later right before I boarded my flight, I received a call that they discovered hail damage on our truck. They never found it during their inspection when I returned the truck and I was not in any hail during the rental period. We also had another truck rented that was at the same location that didn’t have any hail damage. I felt like they were trying to force me to pay for damage that didn’t happen and after they had already inspected the car with me there.

Go anywhere but here. The car I prepaid for wasn’t available so they put us in a ford that was Similar in size. I didn’t argue and was trying to be easy about it. I was over charged and never reimbursed my deposit. $816 to rent a vehicle for 2 days. I called the main office they transferred me to the San Antonio airport location. They ended up agreeing that they never returned my deposit and they would refund my Amex card. Well over 2 weeks and still haven’t refunded me and now I can’t get through to anyone at that location. I just want what is fair and what was agreed to.

They will treat you like like a person throughout the entire process unlike other rental companies. I had a wonderful rental experience from the time I booked all the way to the drop off! Everyone was extremely thorough, kind, and put my mind at ease, especially Jeff and Gilbert! They really went above and beyond. Other rental companies I've booked with have nothing on Alamo's customer service. If I could give more than 5 stars I absolutely would! I will definitely be booking with Alamo again! I hope you book with them too because they will treat you well.

Traveling with an infant and toddler is an adventure, but also quite challenging with all the extra accoutrement. The fine folks at Alamo in the San Antonio Airport were very helpful at all points of contact, from the counter service at check-in, vehicle walk through, and especially at vehicle drop off. Every individual we encountered was incredibly accommodating to our family’s added requirements and helped streamline our airport travel experience. We’ll definitely be utilizing their car rental services the next time we fly. Highly recommend!

The manager Charles is absolutely great at what he does. My fiancé & I were not having the greatest travel experience with Alamo because of a different location. Long story our charge went from $175 to over $600. The original person we talked to at pick-up didn’t try to sort out our issue. When we dropped off our rental Charles was able to switch everything back to our original charge. Very satisfied with his professional and customer service. I travel to San Antonio at least once a year & will be coming back to Alamo rental!!

Amazing customer service. Sandra helped us at the checkout counter and she was so nice. It was like we were dealing with a friend we’ve known forever. She definitely put my wife and I in a good mood. The woman working in the parking garage was also extremely friendly and helpful. I didn’t catch her name, but it seems like all the employees are happy and ready to help. Also, the process was the smoothest/fastest of any rental I’ve done. Overall great experience and I would definitely choose them again.

Suburban was somewhat dirty, had two panels push in on the dash, deep scratches all over the doors, breaks worked, but had to push very hard before vehicle would stop. This rental start out at $633.00 and ended up being $1233.00 after insurance, fuel option, and taxes. Very disappointed in the quality and service I received for $1233.00! I do not recommend Alamo in San Antonio Texas. They are very lazy and poor customer service. When asking for a manager, I was told the manager didn't show up.

The staff was super nice and helpful. Pickup was pretty easy and quick after all the paperwork was done. The staff was extremely nice and friendly at the pickup area as well. The truck we rented was really clean. The drop off was super easy and not stressful at all as we just dropped the keys in the drop box. The drop box was a bit confusing to me as I didn't know I had to basically slam it shut so some instructions on it would have been nice other than that it was very simple and easy.

Excellent car rental experience. Smooth, quick check in. Since there were five in our party, Alamo offered us a free upgrade to the next larger SUV. The car was clean, well apportioned and drove very nicely. Our return time was very early (3:30 am), but it went very smoothly, with pleasant, helpful personnel who made sure we had all our belongings and knew where to go next at the airport in San Antonio. Great job to everyone at Alamo!

Best rental experience. Quick and convenient. The reps here actually look out for the customers. They have a kiosk system that makes things really easy to get in and out and the reps stay close by to help. One rep saw we were over charged on our online reservation and helped us make the correction. Saved us time and about $200. Made the trip more enjoyable. I was extremely impressed with how efficiently we received our car. They gave us a great SUV. So above what we were expecting. We even had it detailed before we returned it because it was in that great of a condition. The only problem was requiring a credit card and not accepting a debit card. Did not know about that policy before we were exiting. If there is one, they should have been more clear about that.

I rented a car from Alamo in San Antonio for the F1 weekend. I needed to use toll roads in Austin and was apprehensive how Alamo would bill me for those tolls. Alamo bill me about a week after the rental and added a modest service charge for the tolls. Compared to other rental experiences on paying tolls that I have had, this was by far the best. I will use Alamo again just because of this feature.

I loved the Skip the Line experience, and it was super easy to return the car. The negatives are the excess taxes and fees charged, and that I chose to take the fuel option instead of refueling myself, since the car had great gas milage and barely used 1/8 of the tank during the 3 day rental. Customer service reps were friendly and helpful both on the front and back side of the transaction.

Lady at the desk, inside the airport, was very rude and would NOT listen to anything my son had to say, as he was trying to explain that they had the reservation all wrong, and to top it off she claims that they do not accept and will not rent you a car if your license is cracked or has any kind of flaw. This is ridiculous and needless to we will not be going back there.

After almost a 2 hour flight delay Frances was a breath of fresh air when picking up our rental vehicle. The car was clean and ran well. When turning the vehicle in Trey processed us efficiently and had us heading to our return flight in no time. Great crew at the San Antonio Airport car rental. First time renting a vehicle, it was easy but i did get a bit confused of where to pick up and drop off the vehicle i wish there was more indication signs of where to actually go. Be sure to ask around to get to the car rental spot. Besides that the rental it self & service was great! So easy and fast to do. Will definitely rent from Alamo again. Thank you.

Alamo rental car at San Antonio Airport (SAT) 25-28 May 2023. Wonderful experience and first time using the 'Skip-the-Counter' feature on the app. The one shortfall is the app is not clear on whether gas is pre-purchased upon return. We did fill up at the station just outside the airport. Great customer service team on check out and return.

We have rented from Alamo a number of times in San Antonio. This was smooth and we were able to get into our car quickly by using the app ahead of time to enter all details. I really liked the Hyundai Kona that I drove. The only problem was that all the tires were low. I had to stop several times to find a place with a working air pump to inflate the tires. This cost me $2.50 each time and delayed my trip. It was very dark in the pick-up area, so I didn't notice the tires were flat before driving away.

I feel the true test of a company is how they react when things don't go right. We had a problem with the radio in our car and the team at Alamo did everthing in thier power to make it right and when it just could not be fixed they adjusted the price to make sure we were happy. Customer service is great. However their vehicles are in horrible shape. Window didn’t roll all the way up. Part of the mirror on driver side is missing. Then I topped off the gas and they still charged for gas when it didn’t need it. I brought it back full. They should have not done that.

Excellent experience with Alamo a couple months back, they got us in and out pretty quickly with our SUV rental and we had a gentleman named Wolf that greeted us in the garage that had a great attitude, helped us with bags and finding a car. We would come back just to see Wolf again.

Excellent experience with Alamo Renal at San Antonio International Airport. Agent at the counter was great as was the agent in the on-site garage. Lot agent gave me plenty of options to choose from. Vehicle was clean and well serviced. Return was extremely easy. Well done Alamo!

If you rent a truck, remember there will probably be no running boards. It was hard for me to get in and out of the truck. Air pressure in tires varied a lot, someone needs to checks these. I had to add more pressure to one tire. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.

Alamo did a great job. Pick-up was so fast and easy. The truck was new and clean. We had a crazy situation requiring us to change flights to an entirely different city and they waived the drop off fee. Great service and friendly staff. I will definitely use them next time.

Pick up was easy. At drop off, they will try to scam you by finding any little paint chip or scuff and make a damage report through your insurance/charge you more. Take pictures of every inch of the car before you start driving or they will say you did it.

The experience was great. However, we did have a problem with the phone number on the business card that was given to us at the San Antonio airport. We tried to text when we had a problem returning the rental car. It said the number is no long in service.
