I purchased a Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse online for delivery. Upon opening the parcel, I was incredibly disappointed to see that they had sent me a different mouse entirely. (An original MS Surface mouse - much lower RRP, much older and without the features of the mouse I ordered.) Not only was this not the right product, the mouse they sent me was leaking dry/flaking battery acid (?) from the battery compartment. After taking the lid off the battery compartment, whatever this substance was fell out and flaked all over my desk and carpet. It was so badly congested/filled with this substance that the bluetooth connection button in the middle of the mouse was 'glued' tight and unable to be depressed/used. How this item was shipped at all is baffling to me. After contacting their support, I was told to take it back in to the store for a replacement. So, I spent my time and my fuel money to drive to their closest store. I explained to them that I'd been sent the wrong item. Can you guess what they first offered me as a solution? In-Store Credit. of course. Not a replacement, not a refund. In-store credit was their first go to solution. No, I don't want in-store credit with your joke of a business that I've literally never been to before and never will again. I said I would instead like the original item that I paid for, only for them to tell me that they don't have it anymore, and there aren't any at any other stores? What happened to the one I ordered and PAID for? Ok, fine. I'll take a refund. Whatever. I ask for the refund in cash - this company has already held on to my money for over a week and I'd like it back immediately if they can't provide the product I paid for. The guy helping me said that online orders can only be refunded to the original payment method. I explain that these are extenuating circumstances and before I can finish, the other guy behind the counter rudely interrupts, firmly raising his voice, saying "online orders can only be refunded to the original payment method, those are the transaction terms when buying online." My man, the transaction terms were that I'd give you a specific amount of money in exchange for a specific product. Your company broke those terms by not giving me the right product??? How can you be that daft? I asked how long the refund will take only to be told 'a few business days'. Nothing more. This company is just going to hold on to my money for an indeterminate amount of time? Who knows when/if I'll see it back. So, just to recap: 1. I ordered a Microsoft Surface Arc mouse online. 2. They sent me a different product - an older/cheaper/featureless mouse that was LEAKING BATTERY ACID (?) and completely faulty. 3. I spent my own time/fuel to take the product back to their store. 4. They didn't have product I originally ordered. They don't know if they ever had it or if it was sold to someone else. 5. The first solution they had was to give me store-credit. 6. When asking for a cash refund, they in essence said 'nah, we'll refund it to your card in an indeterminate number of business days.' Ordering from this company has legitimately left me at a net-loss in terms of my time and real, accountable money. Absolute joke of a company. Do not purchase in any shape or form.

Not pleased at all. Sold me a controller that was clearly completely broken its that broken its hard to believe they sold that to me. With Frayed cables, controller wouldn't turn on, when it did it shutdown instantly. Took it back to get refunded and they refused the refund, said I had to swap for a other controller or get a voucher. That's is so fustrating and a ridiculous Policy. If something i bought was completely broken i expect a full refund. They also state that every second hand product is "tested" before being sold. There is not way that product was tested. It was so broken I feel stupid for not looking at it properly before I paid for it. I don't live close ar all so that including the ridiculous price of $50 for a 15 year old controller, and now 2 trips to gardencity and back has left me feeling completely ripped off and wont ever make that same mistake again. It also explains why they don't offer refunds, they wouldn't.make any money otherwise. If you decide you need to get something from this store. I would suggest 2 things. 1. You ask them has this been tested and make sure they have!! You can NOT get a refund. 2 make sure you can't get what your after elsewhere because as far as prices go this store is crazy expensive, and your pretty much guaranteed to find it cheaper if you look around. Obviously if the service was good the price would be justifiable possibly. Recommendation foe the owner: I highly suggest you put in your store something that says no refunds I big letters everyone will see it, or get your staff to mention it yo the customer as if I knew first that there is no refund policy, I wouldn't of purchased it. I know you probably do have it written somewhere in the store, but it should be big enough that you can't miss it. The customer should be aware before they purchase anything.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT ANY CEX - BUY ELSEWHERE There hasn't been one time I haven't had a problem with a product I've bought from CEX. Today I decided to try this shop again to see if they had improved but I was disappointed to find nothing had changed. As with every CEX, upon arrival I was greeted with deafening trashy music (to the point I couldn't even hear what someone was saying less than a metre away from me). I had a look around, found some games I wanted and decided to leave long before I wanted to due to the headache I was getting from the screeching tramp on the radio. Went to the counter and stood there for ages waiting for the 2 guys behind the counter to finish their conversation. Stood there for another eternity waiting for the guy to find the games - the first one they somehow didn't have (not the first time it's happened, how can this be such a common problem??). The second one they said they'd put the wrong price on and the real price was more than double what it was marked as (is this even legal??) I said whatever I'll pay what they wanted for it, as long as it definitely works which the guy assured me it did. Get home, doesn't work. What a surprise. Literally every time I've purchased a few products at a time from CEX there has been at least one failure. Clearly nothing is ever tested. Generally most stuff is priced so low that they know people aren't going to bother going back to return stuff for the sake of $5 or so. You don't have a tough job. Take half an hour to test a new batch of stock each day before you put it on the shelf. Play your teenybopper angsty tunes at a respectable level. Take a shower before you go to work so your shop doesn't smell like ball sweat. It's. Not. Hard. Rant over.

I'm leaving this here so people know that CeX uses illegal in-store policies to mislead customers. When refunding a product they will refuse anything except store credit, which is illegal under the ACCC regulations. They will tell you this is their store policy, which does not make it legal. "Refunds should be the same amount you have already paid, provided in the same form as your original payment." Source: ACCC's page "Repair, Replace, Refund" (I cannot put URLs in reviews) "If a consumer cancels their contract of sale with the seller, they are entitled to insist on a full refund. A seller may not insist the consumer receive another form of remedy (such as repair or replacement goods) or insist that the refund be issued as store credit." Source: Google "ACCC Warranties and refunds", the first result is a PDF from their website. They managed to get my controller working after going through several pairs of batteries and accusing me of using flat batteries (which I used in another controller two seconds later and worked perfectly, indicating an issue with the battery connectors), so they argued the product was "working" and refused to refund me, instead leaving me only with the option to swap out to another controller that hopefully did not have this issue (because they didn't test the new controller until I asked), and as the controller was cheaper, they would not refund me the difference, they would only give store credit! And insisted that "even if it is completely broken, we will still only give you store credit, it's in our policy" Edit: I would like to point out I did make a complaint exactly as directed by the response to this review. As expected, I was completely ignored.

Purchased several games from this store, two of which contained discs so scratched up that you'd think someone had gone at them with sandpaper. Unsurprisingly, both games were completely unplayable, but when I brought them back to the store less than 24 hours after purchase with receipt in hand I was told that they cannot offer refunds under any circumstance except in the form of store credit. The staff attempted to buff out the scratches, but unsurprisingly they are still unusable. As this store is quite a hike from where I live I won't be returning a third time and will simply repurchase the games elsewhere. Note that they also have no direct line of contact with the individual stores, so if you do have any issues you will need to go back in person to address them. Additionally, Peter K, who I dealt with both when I initially purchased the games and also when I attempted to return the faulty ones, was incompetent and had seemingly no clue how to handle valuable items. While holding one of the games I was purchasing (for which I paid $110), he commented "wow that's expensive" and then proceeded to man handle both the disc and case?? As a collector, I would expect a store that stocks numerous games marked up due to their collectable status to hire competent staff that know how to handle them??? For those looking for a good store to purchase older games and consoles from, I would wholeheartedly recommend Eddie's Retro in Greenslopes Plaza. He's a great guy who always follows up on faulty goods (of which I've only had 1 across probably 50+ purchases) and I feel has always had his customers best interests in mind.

Here's a fair review. I rate things on three criteria. Aesthetic, Price, and Staff. Do keep in mind this is MY opinion. Here we go: Staff. The staff were very warm and friendly, and even had a bit of conversation with me. I appreciated this very much. They even explained the memberships and such to me in a very easy to understand way. Overall, staff get a five outa five! Price. Some items were worth more than I was expecting, but that's how monet works. However, the fact is, it is far cheaper than everywhere else, and this is super important to me and my family, who are in a financially troublesome situation. Pretty good stock on games and movies too! Price gets a five outa five! Aesthetic. The aesthetic is very reminiscent of old video stores, and feels very 90s, with a lot of imagery that makes you feel like you've gone back in time. The music is mixed. When I first entered the store it was honestly terrible. But later on, the music did get pretty awesome. So it's a mixed bag. However, musical tastes are subjective. And someone else may of loved the first song. Overall I give aesthetic 5 outa 5. Conclusion: For sure the best store I've been to in a long time. Will defeintly check here for games and movies before anywhere else. Flipping love it, one of the best things in Garden City.

So me and my boyfriend got a PS3 from your store, it's reader doesn't work. It's glitching up with ALL of our games and has a 3 month warranty. However he took it in today to get refunded because, it's been less than a month, and the worker behind the counter said it worked fine because it didn't do it to him. He apparently tried four different games. But I don't believe he did. Or if he did he wouldn't have played them enough to see this glitch. We'll be videoing it happening so when we go in next we can show them. Or post it up online to discourage people from buying from your stores. We went back in today, 16/may/2018. And all they offered was to buy it back. So instead of the refund we deserve they offered us basically $33 or less for it. What a rip off. Even though they told us when we brought it, we will get a refund if the product messed up. Which is false information. I have recently found out that this is quite illegal of them to do this under Australian consumer laws, by a manager at EB Games and the ACCC. I Know if we don't get our refund we will take them to QCaT for it. Where they will be dealt with according to law.

Loved this store! Still do actually. Mostly I'm just browsing but every now and then I find something interesting and at a good, decent price. Their 2 yr replacement policy is great. Coming from a second hand store, this is gold. I sold some of my unused goodies to them. Got a voucher instead of cash coz I will end up spending it there anyway. Being a store that sells "pre-loved" items, sometimes what you buy might not work as expected. Just return it and you'll get your money back, or have the product replaced if they have stock. Overall, I'm very happy with this store. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Sometimes, some items are a bit pricey considering we're talking about second hand goods and also what they offer for certain items is also towards the lower end. Like any other shops it has goods and bads but the goods are more.

  • James Garner

It's average, They have lots of old school products tho! The prices are average and kinda over priced for what the product is. The service was clean and professional and they seem like a good business but I can see alot of flaws and ways to improve the business. The concept of selling old products and electronics is a very risky business so to see a business still continuing I can understand the prices they have placed on the items. It's worth a visit, you may find something to fill your collection or find something when you were young and be able to buy again for cheaper price is always a nice feeling. I always enjoy visiting these stores to find those classics to fill my collections.

  • Elijah K56

The team at this CEX branch are really quite good and have been nothing but brilliant over the years. Had a few problem mobile phone issues (my fault for getting C and B grade phones), but the 2 yr warranty got it sorted swiftly ! The device was tested and I could opt for something else or get a voucher. Honestly, I have seen plently of customers being the problem, as they just dont get this is a business... not a garage sale... and if you are't cluey about what your getting or the terms of CEX... then I'd say try your luck with Cash Converters, heck try returning something with CC, you become an instant criminal in their books....

  • Rudiger75

Just received a call from my daughter who was trying to buy a game for myself. She went into the store to find Forza Motorsport for the Xbox, not the Xbox one, not the Xbox 360 the Xbox. online showed that the store has more than 4 in stock. The person that served her was extremely rude and told her that there was no such console and repeatedly asked her what she wanted and my daughter kept telling them it was Forza motorsport for the Xbox and again their response was that there is no such console. She ended up with Forza Motorsport 6 for the Xbox one. Maybe staff should have some knowledge about products when enquired about.

Ture experience... Dropped in a fully working note 5 last saterday, I signed paperwork and agreed 363 dollars after their 1 hour inspection, and was told they havent got any cash, had to put into bank account. Never received any payment as they said. Tried to contact them, but there is no phone number, not to mention their "never reply" email contact. Finally those guys called me after 5 days, and said they there was a screen issue with the phone. So they has to reduce the price to 313 or I have to go again to take it back. Ture experience... try for yourself Great CEX lol

  • Caz M

Good place to trade in unwanted electronics, but be careful. Take photos of and itemise all the items you are handing in to be tested (incl. charge cords, power bricks, etc.) The staff are doing the best they can, but storeroom looks unorganised and cluttered. I would have received less for items because they were missing charge cords. They fished out my missing cord from a bin of 'spares', saying that it was just lying around without a tag so someone assumed it was an extra. I was lucky I got a helpful staff member who thought to look there.

  • Clement D.

Bought a phone there a few weeks ago and the phone had a small purple dot on the top right corner of the screen. After a few weeks it got bigger so I went back there telling them that the screen has always been like that, it started small and then got bigger. They said if you dont have a picture of the phone when the dot was small we can't believe you... so I paid $350 for a phone with broken screen and apparently nothing they can do about it. I do not recommend buying a phone there and will never come back to one of those shops.

  • Mr Liu2

A very bad experience! I bought a Samsung tablet, but after I finished buying it, I found it couldn't be used or even watched YouTube. Then the salesperson told me that I couldn't return it, and the salesperson argued with me. In the end, the police even came over to solve this problem. This store bullied customers, and I was so angry and get sick. I went to this store Last year .the store was good, but this year the store started scamming customers and keep changing bad. it's very unbelievable. I firmly won't come back again

  • Paige Wilcox

Back in the late 90s one of my favourite experiences was roaming through the aisles of the local video stores. Although I love the convenience of streaming films, I do very much miss the experience of browsing physical shelves of viewing options. CeX is here to save the day, not just because the aisles are stocked floor to ceiling with physical media. It's the pre-loved / used and unusual selection that differentiate the experience from electronics stores selling just the top new titles.

  • Bradley Henn

So I'm a retro game collector... And CeX is my one stop shop! You want PS2, Xbox games. Then CeX the place to go. Where you will find a range of products and devices at really affordable prices! But just make sure to check the games before leaving as to they have the right disc. The staff are really working hard and sometimes they get the discs mixed up. But when games are like $1-$2 I can't really complain.

  • Aethax

Pretty cool store with old consoles and games, but i’ve been there 4 times now, and every single time I have been there something i’ve bought have been broken or just the incorrect disc. They don’t test their controllers or games so always keep the receipt. Both controllers i’ve bought half the buttons don’t work. And they gave me a movie disc instead of the ps2 game disc i bought.

  • Matt B

Have bought and sold many times over the years here and I'm always satisfied. A great place to get the most out of older consoles without having to worry about buying second hand stuff online and all the risk that goes along with that. A special thanks to the Garden City and Hyperdome team for going above and beyond to get me a PS3 controller last week, you guys rock.

  • Jac A

We have been here a few times for secondhand DVDs, we travel from Pimpama for this store. Absolutely top friendly service and super good quality and prices. We will always be back to stock up on more DVDs. Was searching for 2 particular movies today and they asked if we needed help, we inquired, they had both and grabbed them for us straight away. Awesome!

  • Paul Hubbard

The staff are quite friendly but it was quite frustrating taking in multiple of the same items with no prior warning that the price that I sold for on the website would not be the price they offer me with a decrease of 10% even though on the website it says a maximum price change of $10. Won’t be selling there again and don’t recommend you do either

  • Tabitha Robinson

This place is a great place to find a bargain for games and movies, especially for older machines like ps3 or ps2. Can also get a whole bunch of tech. Bought my phone there and it worked really well. Only criticism is getting served can take a while if you buy a lot, but more than worth the wait for the price.

  • Granger Rudduck

Refused to allow me to look at some items which were in boxes, way too lazy, said that they had “too many” and that he “would have to stand there and watch me go through them”. So I searched up online of what they had in stock of what I was looking for and they had nothing which wasn’t already on display.

  • Glenn Smith

Used in UK and Australia, never had an issue with any of the electronic items I have purchased over the years, from a HTC Vive to some $20 PC speakers. What's not to like about well priced second hand goods backed with a 2 year warranty? ( Considering other second hand stores offer 90 days?)

  • George Matic

came in to see what they would value my halo 4 limited edition console thats still sealed and unopened, considering that you cant get them anymore let alone an unopened one. i knew what the value of these go for. but was shocked they would offer $50 for the whole thing.

  • Kirsty

Not very happy with the service here. Not very friendly. Also gave us the wrong game in the case.. super frustrating because we know have to go out of our way to come back and swap it when it shouldn't have been a mistake. Clean store but a bit on the small side.

  • Otaku_Bear

The games are either scratched or deeply gouged. The staff are neither friendly, helpful or knowledgeable. They offer the lowest possible prices on trade in and buys...if they buy anything at all. Better off going to any other cex or better yet, just go to eb.

  • Naithan Andersen

Dont even bother buying from them brought something that wasn't tested properly and sold to me fault and they refuse to refund it because they can replace it but I have to wait a week for the replacement i just want my koney back so i can go buy it elsewhere

  • Mark Tuohy

Great prices for 2nd hand games, and phones. I've bought many console games from here and a phone which was in fantastic condition. The staff are always really friendly. I generally check between CeX and EB Games and 90% of the time Cex get's my money :)

  • Angelo rietberg

customer service seems nice and the entire shop looks really cool. and i like the idea of selling second hand devices and games. Despite this however, i bought two items from the store and none of them seem to work. Does anyone else have this problem?

  • Rowan

Staff are friendly and usually have a large range of products. Pricing is usually good but can be a bit wild, for example some products are priced as a bargain while other products can be a bit overpriced. But often worth it for the convenience.

  • Felix Y

Service is friendly but when selling devices from overseas, expect a longer wait as they will need to submit a price request to their headquarters. Generally speaking it's a 1-2 hour wait to have your old device tested and ready to cash in.

  • N.

Great store and will definitely find some old treasures you would have forgotten about. The staff are very knowledgeable and patient too, ensured I understood their return/refund policy and what I was purchasing. Definitely worth a visit.

  • Le Nut

DO NOT BUY AIRPODS FROM THIS PLACE!! bought a pair as a gift, they were paired to someone else’s Apple ID meaning the previous owner can lock them at anytime which was not disclosed and we’re giving off a distorted scratchy sound when

  • Jason Cross

Store is too small, cramped. Centre shelves too close to one another particularly if someone else is browsing the same items. Found the music annoyingly loud as well. Good experience otherwise, staff member I dealt with was good.

  • Sharon S

9 times outa 10 rude service, stand in line over 30min with only 1 person in front. The lady there is always busy, watching something charge or clean..I often give up an walk out of store. Sad as every other CEX shp is helpful

  • Susan Francis

My son wanted to sell his xbox one, it didn't have a controller, she told me that she would give him $8 dollars for it, yes Eight dollars, absolute rip off, We went to eb games & got $75. Would not recommend Mt gravity store

  • Peter Haydon

It's very poor that you cannot call the shop directly. I have been into this shop to sell things 5 times and every time they either won't buy the item or they offer me less than the advertised price on the website

  • Mark Williams

Great place, great staff, great products. I found a dvd series there I had 8 years ago & loved but lost & couldn't replace as its not available in Australia anymore. I'd recommend this place to anyone …

  • Scott Kelly

Awesome staff at the Loganholme store. Prices are set, download the CEX app before you buy/sell do you know what to expect. It can be busy at times but so can anywhere else. Best CEX in SEQ in my opinion.

  • Kuro ChanDog (Sir Davo)

dump all my unused electronics and games in exchange of games I always wanted. Friendly service and very patient crews. 120% will dump my old generation things again once I tidy up my man's cave. ^U^

  • Mirage Dave

Rude staff at mount Gravatt store. I purchased few products from them and was abused while exiting. They have a good collection of games and movies but my experience with the staff was very bad.

  • Mary Kinnane

I only found this place a couple of weeks ago. I needed to off load a lot of clutter. They offer cash for goods but you get a fantastic deal if you accept the store deal. Up to $70 extra!

  • Wayfaring Stranger

These guys are nothing more than scalpers with a retail front. Charging a $500 mark-up on PS5s is about as disgusting as it gets. Seriously avoid CeX at all costs. You guys are the worst!

  • Christopher Andrews

Amazing range of dvds and games for all consoles to electronics like phones and tablets. Staff where amazingly helpful with my trade ins and my purchases... Big up to them …

  • Darren McKenzie

Fun little shop, you'll never know what you'll find, from games, consoles, DVDs, refurbished phones & accessories. Second hand phone prices are a bit higher than expected though.

  • Dom B

Only 2 people in the shop but i had to wait a long time anyway to be served. I just had a quick query but the attendant could not multi task and plodded alone with one customer

  • Demchy 21

I found a game i liked with a label that said $5 on it. took it to the counter and they tried charging me more for the game. False advertising. I do not recommend this shop

  • Tom Bryon

Traded in a whole bags worth of games and dvds and the process was super quick, easy, and i walked away with a heap of cash! Love the service and the energy of the place.

  • Jack Parr

Went to purchase a $15 processor, did not want to give them my full adress, manager refused the sale and kicked me out and told to never return. 10/10 would shop again

  • Tom Scott

Lots of cool consoles and accessories. Really cool staff and happy to see what you've got to trade in. I always check back frequently to see what's new on the shelves.

  • Peter Spethman

Alot of items seem overpriced for being second hand, although sometimes you can find that 1 bargain. Mostly walk out of shop empty handed due to their prices.

  • MJ Turner (EximiusNovo)

Great little store and excellent staff. Turnaround time was about 30 min after they got an "A" grade price from headoffice. Quite happy, will be back!

  • Paul F (GayNamedPaul)

Not bad, staff seem a bit "over it". Great if you want to sell stuff quickly and don't care that they'll resell it for triple the price you get

  • Chris Mutton

Staff are always friendly. they stock a good amount of items. Always confirm the details about the warranty conditions before purchase.

  • Ollie

Good prices, friendly staff. Offer a 1 year warranty on PC parts. I bought a CPU that was faulty, got a refund no problem. Great store
