I love the Nova, but unfortunately they have a terrible mouse infestation that has been around for a long time. It seems to have become worse lately. The other day, a mouse popped up on my friend's seat during the film and when the lights came up, I spotted at least three scurry across the floor and into a gap in the wall. I wish there was a way for this to be adequately addressed by management as it significantly detracts from the cinema viewing experience and indicates a general lack of cleanliness.

Great programming but the mice in the cinema corridors were friendlier than the entitled and condescending staff. If someone asks for a ticket at the Candy Bar it’s because the email they received upon booking advised it, There’s no need to be exasperated by a simple, polite request. A polite response is always welcome. This also applies to people scanning a QR code. If it needs to be closer to the machine - just ask. Don’t bark - you might scare the mice.

Parking is a nightmare unless you use public service. The cinema itself is an interesting maze of corridors. When it is busy, it seems very crowded. It is very clean, customer service is attentive and quick. Once seated, the seating and cinema experience is lovely. It is great to have access to all the various restaurants up and down Lygon street either before or after. Again, parking is a nightmare.

The cinema itself is good and I like that they show independent films as well as the latest movies. I was a bit disappointed in the cafe though, I waited 20 minutes for a very plain looking toasted sandwich and then had to try and eat it in a hurry so I didn't miss the movie. Next time I'll just go to Brunetti's beforehand instead.

A very vintage, 70s/80s cinema with a real retro feel to it, including thick carpets and screen curtains; nothing like any other cinema I’ve been to! Staff all friendly, but not the hugest range of snacks. Popcorn serving sizes are huge - 2 of us could only just finish a medium! Definitely a great cinema to visit.

I love the retro vibe of this cinema and the great films it has showing! Visit on a Monday before 4pm and tickets are $7! Easily has to be the cheapest in Melbourne! Great location close to the tram stop and nestled amongst the many great restaurants and cafes that Lygon St has to offer!

Caught a late afternoon showing and was very pleased with the experience. Ordering tickets and snacks was straightforward (bought from the same counter), and I even got to take my wine with me inside the theater - that was a first! Seats do not recline but are adequately comfortable.

Super indie and cosy place. It's an independent theatre that does special deals on Mondays for super cheap tickets, they replay old movies and have short seasons of new movies. It makes the place feel like a community and it's so great

If you love old people and alternative artsy types of the inner north, then the Nova is for you. Also $7 for a day session on a Monday! You can't get anything for $7 these days, not even a ride on the Finsbury trolley! Damn inflation!

Nova Cinema has such a diverse selection of movies, from mainstream to independent, without the hassle of big crowds. While also in the heart of Carlton's fine dining strip... a perfect combination ☆☆☆☆☆
