I accidentally ordered tickets for the the current day, not the date in the future I had intended. I noticed about an hour after the film would have started. We attempted to call customer support to get a refund or transfer the tickets over to a showing we could actually go to (mind you this was 4 UltraAVX tickets, so $70), and were told by customer support that our tickets were already scanned. We did not go to the movie. I did not forward the tickets to anyone but my wife, so that she could call customer services to see about a refund. It would be a rather elaborate scam for someone to hack my gmail account just to then physically go and use 4 tickets for The Batman. We were told that it would be possible to get a refund, if only our tickets weren't somehow scanned. We were told this has never happened before, and that in fact we must have gone to the movie (which would have been screening while we were on the phone with them...). We will be sticking with Landmark indefinitely unless this is somehow resolved.
This theatre is haunted!!! Pulling up to Cineplex westhills the parking lot was vacant, we parked right beside the doors. Entering the theatre there was almost no one working! No one selling tickets just two people on popcorn and one checking tickets. Prior to the movie starting I saw a young man with a manbun standing in my peripheral vision when I turned to look he was gone. A few minutes later I saw him again (he wasn't really there). The movie started and I could feel someone kicking my seat so I looked behind, there was no one! I mentioned this to my friend and she didn't believe me. Then I felt two more kicks. Later on in the movie we heard someone behind us (could have been the movie sound but very doubtful) and again, no one was there. Near the end of the movie, my friend's and my own seat started shaking as if we were in Dbox seats! We both felt it and we discussed it with eachother and after that felt another large "kick" We are both sincerely freaked out and will never visit this theatre again.
I’ve been going to my neighbourhood cinema here since it opened who knows how long ago. Overall, they have been doing a great job of keeping up with technology and new innovations for the cinema experience. I recently saw Avatar 2 here in the theatre with all the extra features - bigger screen, HFR, UltraAVX, Dbox, 3D, etc. Love the big screen, and the 3D. However, l simply found the sound to be a bit too loud, and the ‘moving’ DBOX seats to be disappointing. Actually the DBOX seats were mostly annoying. Nothing like the bigger ‘moving’ seats I tried at Universal studios, in Los Angeles, I think it was, quite a few years ago, with the reenactment of the troop dropship from space in the first Aliens flick. Anyway, for those who like to go out to a movie, this venue is a good option. The staff is friendly and courteous. And there is lots of parking outside.
Yesterday we went to the movies as we had a date night with my wife. We have watched a movie what wasn’t so good and in my opinion shouldn’t be rated 14+ but it’s not the theatre what rates the movie it’s a provincial labeling. This wouldn’t be a problem. I wanted to start a conversation about the movie with the person who is staying at the door to check on the masks. He had a different opinion about what I told him I had absolutely no problem with that but that person went to the popcorn bar to trash me to the other employees of the cineplex and that was the unbelievable part. How can the cineplex afford that attitude? It is unbelievable. I asked the money back for the tickets what I have bought and left. I rather go to a different place to watch movies from now on.
This is easily the best Cineplex in Calgary. They aren't nearly as busy as Chinook, for some reason their popcorn is tastier, and their staff is consistently friendly! The seats have a decent recline, and with their recent addition of an AVX theatre, there really is no reason to go elsewhere. The one downside is parking on a Friday night, but a short walk is good for you - so hey, they're even getting you to exercise! I love Westhills. Update, post covid: The quality hasn't dropped, but hopefully they'll be able to stick around with the drop in moviegoers. I've been to a couple movies in the past six months and every time there have been just a handful of people in the theater. Don't go, Westhills, we love you!
An old Classic theater here in Calgary. If you can't get into the larger, busier locations this theater usually does the trick. It's times usually offset Chinook Centre's theater by 15 minutes so it truly is an alternative. It is easy and quick to get into the theaters at Westhills and all around the theater there are great restaurants to grab a bite before or after the movie. It is clean and the staff are quite friendly here. There is no IMAX but the standard screens are large and the seats are comfortable and even lean back without an extra charge. The only weak point is that there really isn't ample parking here so that can mean a bit of a hike from where you park to the entrance. Classics live on!
They took out the self serve ticket kiosks but luckily still have the kiosk to print tickets ordered through your phone. Waited in line thinking the people in front of me were waiting for their popcorn and get up there only to find out no one is manning that till (even though there's 3 people standing doing nothing). I see a girl standing behind another till so I go up to that one, am told the till is closed and as I walk away, she calls over some friends standing in the other line. They could use some closed signs for their concession stands and some customer service skills. The popcorn was room temperature and tasted like it's been sitting there all day (microwavable popcorn would've tasted better).
We went to this theatre and paid almost $20 a ticket because the movie was only available in D-Box 3D. It wouldve been worth it but the staff couldn't figure out how to fix the audio of the screening. We watched the preshow and trailers with no audio. Finally they fixed the audio just for the start of the show. It doesn't end there, they left the lights on for the whole show. Many failed attempts asking the staff to shut them off. The side lights caused the sides of the screen to be unwatchable. Not surprising thinking about it, everything is out of order at this theatre fom the butter machines to the washrooms. Save yourself some money and go to a landmark theatre or maybe another cineplex.
Yesterday I decided to buy some popcorn and take it home. I got half way through the bag when I tasted something moldy in my mouth. I decided to go back to let them know that there was something gross in the popcorn just for the sake of other people because I didn't even get my money back since I paid with scene points and the manager there couldn't care less. She offered me a refill on the 2 bags that I got and I refused. Why would I want more popcorn from the same machine that had moldy popcorn in it 10 min prior? Grossest thing I've ever experienced. Super disappointed since popcorn is my favorite snack. Definitely not going back. No idea how I'll be spending my scene points from now on.
Lights stayed on for 100/120 minutes of the movie. There was nobody we could find in the theatre to turn them off. 125% RUINED the movie. The last 20 minutes the lights went out....and continued to STAY OUT after the movie. Stumbled out of the theatre in the dark. Received a half hearted apology upon exit of the theatre and a free admissions pass that cannot be used for most used movies. Ready to move on and continue my night I used the washroom to find NO toilet paper in the stall. Was an absolute disaster. Ruined date night. First time we have gone to the theatre in ages and it was terrible. We spent a fortune on snacks, drinks, etc not just the price of the movie. Absolute garbage.
I have never been disappointed by Westhills Cinema. The staff is incredible. My husband had a medical incident at the theatre, and the staff were prepared and worked quickly as a team to help us and the paramedics. The manager was brilliant and Taryn was a gem. But, I know there were a lot of staff behind the scenes helping out. I am always impressed by the fast, friendly work staff and the quality of the movie screens. I highly recommend this theatre, as I personally know you are in good hands at this place. By the way my husband is fine. We’ll be back to finish our film, with the refund and passes they gave us. A gesture which was very much appreciated.
Ok so staff were great, have no issues there. The theater layout is pretty good to having concession in the middle. Place was rather clean and staff were doing a good job keeping messes tidy. How ever the theater seats are HORRIBLE. There is no leg room, expect the person behind you to kick your seat (cant even say its their fault because the rows are way too close together) and expect to kick the seat in front of you a few times. Seats aren't very comfy so expect to get fidgety trying to stay comfortable. Screen and sound were good tho, all in all may return but this location will be a last resort.
We had paid for D box seats online for $89 for 3. It didn't work for our movie. Went to the staff to ask if they were working. The first point of contact said, "I'll tell the manager. Went back to watch the movie, but nothing changed. We went back out again and talked to the manager, who was rude and inconvenienced by us. She gave us 3 movie passes in the end. As well there was no ice for the sodas. Post pamedic, you should be trying to woo us back into the theater. I won't be back to this location. @Cineplex head office. I would watching your staff at this location. Movie goer beware.
Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is fun! Yes, I would go again. What can I say? This theatre has a full variety of food, fun and entertainment. Parking can sometimes be a challenge so arrive early. Payment can be done via kiosk or through the food vendors. They have an arcade, gift area as well as seating. Cineplex Westhills is clean, comfortable and spacious. They also offer gift cards, coupons and other types of discounts. If you have a special event, they also have a party room that can be booked. Wheelchair accessible on either side of the theatre.
Pros: - easily accessible and lots of parking - clean facilities - not as busy as other theatres Cons: - fake butter that tastes discusting - Expensive!!! Paid almost 40 dollars for 2 drinks, popcorn and twix bites... not including movie cost! - lazy staff (lights not turned off for movie, then forgotten to be turned back on at the end. People had to use their phone flashlights to leave) - again lazy staff (forgot to turn on 3D and first 15 mins was blurry, didn't restart the movie) - over half an hour of ads and trailers
Parking is almost always full weekends. They got rid of all their ticket machines so you’re forced to stand in line. It was quicker for me to go online and order them and do the mobile pickup than wait in their lineup. Food options compared to the other locations (ie chinook/Sunridge) are very much lacking. It would be nice if they could start upgrading their theatre to the recliners like other cineplex locations. All in all, I think next time I might make the extra 12 min drive to chinook cineplex.
Had the worst experience watching this weekends release of Avengers End Game. With a fully sold out theatre, you would presume they would have some sort of air circulation running. When you first walk into the AVX theater it smelt like the worst smelly gym bag you've smelt. Throughout the entire 3 hours we were in there, the air wasnt on at all. I was overheating and the smell of everyone body odor and sweat was getting so stifling you could barely breath. It was disgusting.
How can this theatre be charging the same rates as the other cineplex’s? Purchased 3 DBox tickets as our experience at Sunridge was fun and since they were sold out we drove an extra 20 minutes here expecting similar experience. The DBox seats are disappointing to say the less. Don’t recline, dirty and old and just shake. Seriously $80 for 2 adults and a 10 year for this!!! Won’t be able to convince my husband to go to a movie night out again. So disappointed
Very good theatre. Not sure any of the theatres yet have Dolby Atmos sound, at least they didn't the last time I visited, but they do have an avx screen and the much appreciated assigned seating that goes with it. I find the crowd tends is less likely to play with their phones or talk during movies than at Chinook, which I'm sure is appreciated by all around. Decent restaurants in the surrounding area as well, making for a nice night out.
If you can, go see movies in the middle of a weekday when there are less people around. Otherwise, it can rather messy and it takes longer than it should for staff members to clean food spills and maintain the bathrooms. The staff themselves are pleasant enough. Sells alcohol, or at least did so as of the previous time I went there. I would recommend getting snacks from the nearby Safeway, as the candy being sold is rather pricey.
DON'T GO TO WESTHILLS CINEPLEX - BETTER THEATERS IN CALGARY The manager of this theater is infuriating to deal with. I brought forward a concern looking for a possible solution. Rather than offering a solution, the manager seems to go out of her way in being dismissive, inflexible, and also seems to enjoy acting this way. Reading through other reviews here, it seems that this is a common experience with this manager.
Nice and quiet here, Chinook is Always packed so you get a more private experience at this theatre. Popcorn was on par, Volume was nice and Loud. The only negative is that they should get the full recliners in this theatre. They never sell out anyway so might as well bring in them big comfy recliners and then this will be a 5 star Theatre! All in all I recommend this place to anyone who prefers a less busy theatre.
FILTHY...!...FILTHY..!...FILTHY!!! If you want to catch a disease, this is the place to go!!! The theaters don't seem to be cleaned between movies at all. We watched a 10 pm showing and the amount of popcorn and chocolate over the seats was unreal! I guess the teenagers are unbothered by the mess, BUT what about the ones who pay their money and would like to be in a clean environment? NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN
Young but enthusiastic staff. Wasn't perfect but seemed like some training/corporate issues. When you ask for the fresh popped popcorn, that was popping. Instead of the prepackaged bagged popcorn in the warming cabinet. My request Should go uncontested, make me the customer happy with a simple request and forget what you saw in the training video when people are paying $20 for overpriced simple concessions
Worst experience at a movie in years. Seats in this place semi-recline randomly, have poor back support very little leg room. Sound was awful roaring and rattling speaker right above my head. My cheap 99 bucks sound bar at home gives much better sound. Expected to enjoy the highly-acclaimed If Beale Street Could Talk, but was so distracted by seats and sound that I couldn't wait for it to end.
Probably one of the worst experiences. We go to our seats that we reserved, only to find out that another theater had issues and instead of telling people that had bought tickets and now food. Are now taken by others. Why not give the others a rebate and let us enjoy the food and show. Really stupid customer service. I will be bringing my own food in if i ever return to this theatre.
Saw Shang-Chi tonight in theater #6. It was freezing! Heater must have been broken. When the movie was done we saw a note in the door warning people that it would be "chilly" in there and that they would refund people if they left in the first 30 minutes. Why even show a movie in a room with no heating?? The movie was great but it was hard to enjoy it while shivering the whole time!
The staff was really nice. But the movie experience was a disaster. The AVX sound was wayyyy too loud, many people were blocking their ears during the movie. We talked to other people in the theater and they said they also didn't understand a thing about the movie since the sound was too loud and off. We could hear the ambiant sound way too loud and none of the dialogues.
Hands down this is my favorite Cineplex theatre in Calgary. Service is super fast and friendly. The theatres and washrooms are always clean no matter how busy they are. The young team members here have been very well trained and appear to remain calm even when it is crazy busy. Highly recommend checking out the Westhills Cineplex theatre
The movie Theatre with Movies and a high definition big screen with really big speakers and an AVX 18A and R rated vibe. I would not recommend PG rated movies personally but maybe 14A if it's like a good movie with decent actors who like act or actresses that have a clue and are from Hollywood maybe circa like 1980 not fkn 2022 lol
It's a good location to get to. Decent amount of parking. We went after work to watch one of the MI last movies and there were only 5 of us in the entire room. I am short and it was hard to lean back in those seats and sitting as is felt quite uncomfortable. I had to push back with my legs. Otherwise, it was a good experience
The facilitiy isn't that much better than any other theater, but the customer service is exceptional. When we went to see Avengers Infinity Wars, our screen would not work. They moved us into a 3D theater for no additional cost, and they gave us free movie passes for our trouble. Way to turn a bad experience into a great one!
Nice theatre in a strip mall area that provides a variety of after movie choices. Few arcade games were not functioning today and one seemed to function only to reboot after inserting the tokens. I did feel however that the games that were working provided a good long lasting fun for the money. Will definitely visit again.
Theatre is no longer being cleaned as it should be. Amazing how that service has fallen off now that covid doesn't seem to be as prevelant anymore. Popcorn, drink spilled on floor, under the seat and on the seat. Not sure how management has decided to let basic cleaning deteriorate but. Will drive to Chinook next time.
been here many times for movies, but a few weeks ago my kids went alone and we couldn't find them. The manager (whose name sadly escapes me) went above and beyond, even reviewing security camera footage to locate my teens and put my mind at rest. Caring and thoughtful staff ALWAYS make the difference. Well done!
dialogue sound was distorted throughout the previews and people were assured it would be remedied by the time the feature started...it wasn't and they continued to play the film regardless. this in turn caused the majority of the patrons to leave having to wait in line for a refund. we will not be returning
All the facilities are good but the only negative is the smaller parking space. You are forced to park outside of their space into other areas and i dont3know whether it is legal to park in the strip mall. Otherwise it caters to all the nearby communities and quality of the theatres are also good.
Pretty sad experience. One of the worst movie arcades this planet has to offer. You have to go through a jungle to get to bathrooms. The staff were pretty careless about cleaning the theatre during a late movie. They need more staff working Sat nights. No Timeplay either!!!!! Not worth it here.
I have organized company movie events for our patients for 6 or 7 years and this year everything was seamless at the Signal Hill Cineplex. They were fast, efficient and so helpful. In the 7 years of doing it, it has never gone this smoothly. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.
Love coming here. Always have room. Went to see a movie with a gift certificate and the sound didn't work. But they eventually fixed it and gave each of us 2 free passes. So not only did we see the movie for free we got 2 free movies out of it! Love this place. It is always a good time
Super easy and straight forward movie experience- the seats were clean and I didn’t have to navigate through piles of popcorn. A little bummed out that the lights were turned on with 25 minutes to go in the movie, which took away from the experience- but you win some you lose some.
For a business ran by kids it's pretty good. The new computers they have for buying tickets are extremely confusing when you're trying to redeem a Costco gift card and the staff take customer frustration and abuse over these useless and inefficient machines very professionally.
With all the new or renovated cinemas coming online, this theater is showing it's age. The new theaters have reclining seats, Westhills still offer the plain old theater seats that only has a cup holder. Given the same ticket price, I will only go to theaters with recliners.
I showed up with an admit one ticket and had to pay an additional $5 because the screen is fancy? This is why no one goes to the movies anymore. Every time you turn around there’s an up charge at the theatres. Not specific to this location, just tired of the price gouge.
Other than the seats not being the most comfortable. The fact I was able to enjoy a beer while watching the movie was a huge bonus for me. That was a first. The people were very nice grabbing snacks. Was an enjoyable experience. But definitely should upgrade those seats.
Great little theatre, but it's bad planning to only have one washroom for each sex in the whole theatre. I'm disabled and was in the very last theatre and I had a hard time making it to the washroom. It's clean and staff are friendly and helpful so that makes up for it.
Theater still has that 90s vibe. Probably could use some updates and renovations but at least the screens are huge and the location is good. Had the mango smoothie and would not recommend as it tasted very artificial/more like a slurped with syrup/sugar mixed in.
It’s always a pleasure to come to a movie here. Westhills is small enough that it’s comfortable as compared to the larger theatres. The theatres are up to date with the latest and greatest technology and the people that work there are generally very friendly.
Given the nature of modern theaters with significantly more space for the cost, this theater needs an upgrade. Screen was rather small and as a tall person the seats were really uncomfortable. I went here based on another member in my parties selection.
Great theater. Parking can sometimes be difficult, depending on the time. But it is still much less crowded than Chinook. It is relatively clean and lines, even if they look super long, tend to go quick. There are also many good restaurants nearby.
Quiet theater. The staff were friendly but there was only one person at the till for popcorn. The theater wasn't very clean either and the chairs were old and made noise every time I moved. It's a good and convenient theater, but could be updated.
Saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and every 10 minutes a staff member would walk with a flashlight accross the the bottom of the screen to sign a clipboard. I think this is a sign off sheet and it was staff change over time. Who the heck puts
Fairly clean Cineplex location. Usually ends up playing all the latest movies and some movies that have come off other theatres. No video games for the kids. Basic Food available; popcorn, nachos, pop, candies, chocolate, burgers, fries,
No IMax. No reclining seats. Nothing special - doesn't stand out at all. Just a very basic multiplex. I'll give it a couple mercy stars because it's usually clean and not too busy. In 2016 there's a downturn in the economy and a lot of
Nice place good sound and appropriate size of room but space between seats is too tight you can't pass without hitting every person on the way to your seat, some in the back and others in their knees even if they retrieved and crunch.
We went to a matinee viewing and were very pleased to see that this cinema had gone to assigned seating. A+ Seats were a bit dated and being tall (6'5") there wasn't much in the leg room department. Overall a fine viewing experience.
Urgent need of repair. Some of the concession staff needs to be taught some manners/customer service basics. Just because we were getting out snacks with a Costco voucher, treated us like 2nd class customers. Will not be going there.
Great cinema to take the kids too. Not a huge selection of movies but it has everything you need to enjoy your time out. The arcade definitely needs to be updated... The staff are great and parking is no problem at this location.
movie theaters are pretty much always great BUT i was pretty uncool with the fact there's no times posted for the actual opening and closing times. so i guess ill provide them since i had to drive all the way there to find out.
Fantastic service with the most polite people, having all the answers I needed.could not find a better place to get what you need done,Its all about the quality for the price, and you nailed it!thanks alote !! Brandon Russell.
I can not understand how for 2 seniors and 3 children under 13 have to pay $128.55 to see a movie? Tickets were $52,00 and 5 small popcorn and 5 small pop were $76.55. That is totally outrages, will never go there again
Great staff. Movie theater isn't as nice as most updated ones around town these days, but again very helpful staff. Lost one ticket and they were able to help us out with that while we ordered pop corn and drinks.
Out dated chairs, very uncomfortable. I couldn't sit still while watching the movie because the chairs are so hard and ancient. I probably wont come to this location again. There are way better theatres in town.
Never had a problem with this cinema till now. I called to speak to a customer representative, and it would not give me the option. I had a very specific question I needed answered, and I couldn't get it done.
Good experience overall. Friendly staff members and clean theater. But if you purchased DBox seats please make sure no one steals them. Everytime we booked Dbox seats it always occupied by strangers.
Uncomfortable seats and incredibly dirty. I was disgusted when I went to put my drink in the cup holder…. obviously it hasn’t been cleaned in a while. I will not be returning to this trash theatre.
How does Cineplex Odeon survive? Ordering tickets is always a hassle. You can't order online (the link is broken) and they refuse to sell tickets by phone (even once you find the box office # -
Very nice area, able to watch almost anytime and enjoy the movies there. Decent selection for foods and drink aswell. Service was decent, went there early so dont know much about the line ups.
West Hills location is getting a little bit old and tired, but the movies sure aren't! We had fun reminiscing about Super Mario games with our son and his friend (both in their late 30s now).
Called left message a week ago never got a call back WHY DID U NOT CALL ME BACK BEEN OVER A MONTH TERRIBLE OWNERSHIP unacceptable on management part I wouldn't even give it 1 star but had to
Great service in my opinion. The kids at concession are over-worked and under-paid so just appreciate that. Still it has no affect on the food or time of service. My first choice in Calgary.
They have recently renovated all of there theaters so every theater is reserved seating. It is also a lot less busy then other theaters in the city. I would definitely recommend going here!
Great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I came to see Sing 2 with my daughter and we had a great time. Auditorium was clean and the whole experience was very enjoyable.
Good theatre to go to if you want to avoid major crowds. However it is starting to feel quite dated and the women's restrooms are always a disaster. Cleanliness needs work.
nice cineplex the food prices are a bit high and compared to newer cineplexes the seating and environment isnt as great but still overall a good movie theatre to go to!
Great website. Often offers enhanced movies with sound or regular version. Busy location lots of families. Good parking. Restaurants nearby for post flick eats.
Very poorly kept (like all cinemas here in Calgary) Very disappointing, smelly old seating - 2 star experience ( vs South African 5 star cinema experiences)
Helpful staff. We had a private screening organized by our company. They had taken care of everything from printing tickets to screening the movie on time.
My go-to movie theater! Usually pretty quiet, with lots of space for parking. The building is well maintained by staff and customer service is always good!
Ryan and Evan were amazing. I accidentally got tickets at East Hills and they were able to accommodate. This is why our family comes to this location !!!
How can you charge the same price as modern theaters? This should be turned into one of those cheap 5$ a movie theaters given how old and run down it is.
Always a pleasure seeing Andrew at the ticket check. Andrew is always very happy, positive, and provides us with excellent customer service. 5 stars
This was actually my first time that I went to this theater and I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness in general.
The theater Is not bad. It's quite small but I've found that I always get into movies no problem, even on opening night. Staff is always nice.
AVX experience was amazing (watched Dune). However if I'm going to spend $10 on a pop, can it at least not be watered down and flat?
It's reasonably clean but the equipment is spotty. I'd typically rather go to almost any other theatre in Calgary than this one.
Experience was much less than expected. The movie was great but the purchase of tickets with a machine(no people) was terrible.
We went for Cinema Day and really enjoyed our movie. It was a packed building but the staff remained calm and professional
I pretended many movies in this theater. Staffer always great I love. The facility and the theater itself is comfortable.
Their D-Box seats were covered in popcorn, chocolate and stains. Clearly zero effort goes into maintaining these seats.
Great atmosphere, good food and drinks options, professional staff, nice thatres, good show options, parking is good
Very expensive but not the best quality. There is always popcorn everywhere and the theater needs some renovations
I like it. Friendly staff and it is not busy at all. Even on Tuesdays. Fresh popcorn, and clean room
My go to theater to watch new movies. Always clean, good popcorn and good, helpful and polite staff.
Lovely place, but it's getting quite old. And with that comes the biggest con of all - small seats.
Only theatre close to where we are. Nothing wrong with it, very convenient to have around.
Average theatre. It was clean, but the seats are the old style. Sunridge is much better.
I liked it. Used passes from Costco, bought more popcorn and drinks. All went well
Lots of parking , empty on a Sunday. Chairs could be updated but not too bad .
Been a couple times, it’s pretty clean and rarely busy, and staff are polite
