The Theatre: the Regal City North is a really nice place to enjoy a movie. I have been to many theaters in the past and this one is clean and well kept. Some theaters in the city sometimes lack when it comes to a sense of safety but this theatre was warm and welcoming. The bathroom was clean and it has a cool arcade area but I didn’t play any games. The theaters themselves seem a bit dated to me because of the small entry to each. But overall it was a nice experience! 4DX: this was the first time I had ever tried watching a movie in 4DX. I came to watch the original 1999 Matrix and wasn’t sure what to expect. There are different elements of the 4DX experience and some were more of an annoyance. The bursts of air close to my ears wasn’t too pleasant. It was cool the seats moved, but they moved a little too much for my liking. I wasn’t really sure what it was supposed to represent. Was I trying to be a character in the movie because my chair turned in directions he turned in? It was strange to me. I think if the physical elements represented more of an audience point of view, it would have been better. Overall, I think the cool parts of it were negated by the weird parts so I don’t think I will do it again. But, I would say everyone should try it once just to form their own opinion!
This theater has been around for a while. Therefore the seating is old and needs to be updated. The spacing between the rows are all the same width, so it really doesn't matter what location you sit in in the theater. The leg room is all the same. They do a good job of keeping the theaters clean, but not great. There are 14 different movie screens, so it's a safe bet to say you can find a movie that you want to see here at any time. Movies tend to stay here a little longer than other theaters, probably because they have 14 different screens, so if there's a movie that you thought you had missed, you can probably still catch it here. The food is expensive as it is in all movie theaters, no worse, no better. They do have a large games area where you can take the kids and play old and new video games before or after your movie. There is an attached parking garage, make sure you get it validated, it is only $2 to park there. The prices for the movies if you go on a Tuesday, are very reasonable. You will spend less money for the cost of a movie here than in any other theater in the city. The cost to see Star Wars in a regular movie theater at 6:30 p.m. this week was $7.29 and the cost for Star Wars 3 3D RCC movie at 9:30 p.m. was $5.70. Those prices cannot be beat.
Whoever the long haired girl was who worked 12/1/23 around 12 or 1 a.m. is very rude. I asked for water because I wasn’t feeling well while watching my movie and she acted like it was the last thing she wanted to do in the whole world. She was sitting on the counter with her back to the customers for starters. When her coworker motioned that there was a customer, she turned around looking irritated and not saying a word. I asked for water, she rolled her eyes, hopped off the counter with an attitude, and brought me the water cup with such irritation written all over her face still not saying anything. Then she hopped back on the counter and continued her conversation. Probably sounds like a Karen complaint, but as someone who has worked in customer service many years it was very unnecessary and her attitude spoke volumes lol. It’s just one of those things you’d have to be there to fully grasp what I’m talking about. I understand it was late and she probably just wanted to go home but it was literally just a water cup. I wasn’t asking for 5 star service but a “hey, what can i do for you?” and “have a good one” without the eye rolling would’ve sufficed.
I went to a weekday matinee. I was nervous after reading the reviews. I had a good time and would probably go back. I didn’t mess with the demon parking garage — I found street parking. Many reviews stated how dirty it was —I found nothing to be out of place, but I also went during a very slow time. The concession workers were adequate. The biggest thing I had a problem with was our theatre — our movie started 15 minutes late and the volume was blaring. Someone from our theatre had to literally go tell a crew member our movie hadn’t started yet. The volume level was SO awful. Everyone in the theatre literally got up and left. Thankfully, the movie we were seeing at 3:10 was playing at 3:20 across the hall (luckily) and it was much quieter over there. Theatre 3 must have been wonky. If there wasn’t another theatre option, I would have found a staff member and asked them to turn it down. I found the chairs to be a little stiff — there was no “give” or rock to them. But I expected that with the old school seats.
This business has absolutely lost all respect to customers and has chosen to become a predatory scam We used to go to this Regal all the time - almost every week before and after pandemic. As other reviewers have pointed out, parking has always been free - the gates were completely open and the employees confirmed about this. At some point they started to work with this scammy business of ABM. They put up some QR codes asking you to pay WHILE keeping the gates open, deliberately trying to confuse you of what's the situation there. We actually tried to use the QR code to pay but was not successful. Like everybody else, we received a notice for a FINE OF $80. We disputed this ridiculous amount, got the fine down to $5, and then paid that $5. But, congratulations Regal, in order to make those silly $80 scammy money, you've lost our businesses forever. Hopefully all these customer complaints will wake you up and let you choose to be an ethical business.
Typically, I'm a loyal patron of Icon, but my girlfriend convinced me to try this place for a special date night featuring an Amazon movie premiere. What pleasantly surprised me was the inclusion of an arcade within the theater premises, adding an extra layer of entertainment. Im sure most children enjoy that aspect. Gaming in theater lobbies are almost a forgotten gem. The highlight, though, was the Cheetos popcorn machine – a quirky touch that brought a unique flavor to the movie-watching experience. Convenience is key, and Regal City North nailed it with its connected parking garage, making the journey from car to theater seamless. However, I must admit that the wait for food tested my patience. Clocking in at about 20 minutes, and no, I'm not exaggerating, it was a bit frustrating. Perhaps it was due to a low staffing situation, but regardless, it did pose an inconvenience that slightly marred an otherwise enjoyable evening.
I stopped going to this theater because of a couple of bad experiences. One time at a 4DX showing, there were a couple of guys who were clearly high giggled and laughed every time the seats move - which is basically throughout the movie. And the movie was Poltergeist! Another time there were 4-5 women in a row behind me who kept talking among themselves throughout the movie. And they were not talking about the movie, just chatting away. This might seem like not directly the theater's fault. But this is the kind of people the theater is attracting. In a way it's a blessing in disguise, because not too long after I stopped going there, I heard and read about all those horrific parking scams. That sealed the deal for me to not ever go back there again. It's a shame 'cause I like 4dx and there are only two theaters in chicagoland (the other one is in Gurnee).
UPDATE: They have added tons of signage now about how parking works. Just remember, you have to pay for parking BEFORE you see your show. Beware! No, not of the dirty theaters, closed washrooms or over-priced concessions. Beware that they have switched their parking. You no longer take a ticket at the lot entrance. That has been broken for months. And while the free parking was really nice, what would have really been nice is if they would have posted something inside letting customers know of the change, especially after being told half a dozen times that parking was free since the machines were broken. Apparently I should have realized the change. Fair enough… Bill me for the $2 and a reasonable fee. But no… that’s not what they do. They send you a bill for $80. EIGHTY FREAKING DOLLARS This is an absolutely disgusting practice. Shame on you.
Not how I remembered... Make sure you leave early, they no longer have regular parking. It's now all Scan and Pay there are no teller boxes. You have to scan a barcode, that are found either by the elevators (that didn't work) or on pillars once inside the parking lot. Now you can pay $4 for the 5 hours. Next as we enter the theater there is only one girl scanning tickets and now checking bags so there was a very long line. After getting checked in there also seems to be a lack of awareness that it's gonna be a busy Saturday. By the time me and my mom get to the concession stand, there are only 2 flavors of Icee's out of 4 that are working and the nacho cheese machine needed extra time to start working. It took us 27 minutes from parking to getting our food, leaving us with 3 minutes before the movie started.
Regal should be ashamed of the predatory business practices of their parking garage. The gateless parking system is designed to entrap customers with outrageous ($80-$240) fees for failure to pay that trigger after only 10 minutes in the garage. They will then start calling you and sending you letters in the mail with threats of lawyers and collections agency if you fail to pay these outrageous fees. How do they get this information or implied consent to contact customers with threatening legal notices? The whole thing absolutely stinks and seems to me to have extremely dubious legal footing (please see the CBS Chicago news report on this exact garage from earlier this year). I will never return to this theater again for as long as the garage is operated by ABS Parking.
I went here on December 15th, to watch the film Godzilla Minus One. This movie was excellent and the experience during the film was great. Before getting to my seat I wanted to try the "loaded Cajun fries". Upon receiving my fries, I noticed they were only French fries with Cajun seasoning so I asked for cheese and other toppings that are listed to come with my order. I was told nothing else comes with the fries from both the guy that brought them out and the cashier that took my order. I asked what makes them "loaded" fries and she just told me they're cajun fries thats it. I asked why are they advertised as something more and was shrugged off. I did not want to completely ruin my movie experience so I took the loss and went to my seat before the film began.
Avoid. Used to prefer this theater, it was the closest and my favorite. Now I will take my business elsewhere because Regal has a contract with ABM Parking Services. The parking lot has been free for as long as I remember. I went to a movie in June, left the lot without paying (as I've always done), didn't think twice because the barricade/bar was up, making it seem like parking was still free. The next day I got a TEXT MESSAGE with a picture of my car, and license plate, giving me an $80 parking fee. It has since tripled. ABM wants to charge me $240 for leaving without paying in a once-free lot. I will never go to this movie theater and support the shady parking lot company ever again.
My bias lies in being an 8-minute walk away. I subscribe to Regal Unlimited; nothing beats smoking a jay and walking over to this neighborhood gem every other night. I’ve developed a fascination with the reviews derailing the parking system. It’s true—a traditional and easy to understand system is missing. However, there’s a sign setup at the entrance to the lobby that may or may not be easy to miss. There’s an amazing arcade no one uses. The ICEE machine is ready to go. The theaters are sometimes littered with popcorn from the prior screening. A lone security guard haunts the hallways at midnight. It’s all beautiful. It will be a sad day if this closes. Long live Logan Square Regal.
Not worth the price. The theaters aren't cleaned between movies. All the seats were covered in old food and grease stains. The floors are sticky and covered in popcorn and wrappers. The imax glasses return bin had not been emptied so long that the bin had overflowed and glasses were littered in piles on the floor. Bring sanitizing wipes if you come here. The seats are comfortable but not the electronic loungers that lean back like you see in most cinemas nowadays, but that's expected from an older theater. The positives are that the front door staff is friendly and the parking garage in the back is convenient. Parking is normally a $2 flat fee for movie-goers.
They changed parking systems recently. Maybe we missed the change but we're getting charged $160 over a month later, way in excess of your usual ticket. Janky. This was our usual theater but we will not be coming back. Update: We went through all our statements and realized that we did in fact pay for parking, but AFTER our movie, when we walked out to our car, noticed the signs, and realized we had missed something. Leaves a very bad taste on my mouth that they would suddenly change their system (there was none before, gates open, no attendant or signs), and fine us this much when we did pay and clearly made an honest mistake.
First time we went to this theater and tried to pay for parking, we kept receiving an error so we tried multiple times. We ended up getting charged 6 times and had to call to get refunds. The second time we went, we had the same issue and figured that even though it said that there was a error, the payment probably went through. Just got a notice in the mail saying we didn't pay for parking so it's an $80 ticket. What a scam. Theater isn't worth going to anyways. It's very old and dirty. I will gladly drive further to go to a better theater with 2 hour parking validation.
Beware of the parking!!!! I’ve been gone to regal for years and the parking has always been free. Until now. I went to see a movie 2 weekends ago and I got a notice in the mail that I have an $80 Parking fine. They leave the gates up upon entry and leaving. There is no indication you have to pay. AND there is nowhere to even pull a ticket. You just randomly get a notice in the mail for an $80 parking fine! When I called the parking company they said they they go based on the 'honor system' that you'll pay. Even if you aren't informed you have to pay.
The theater is great... however DO NOT PARK IN THE RAMP. I know people have posted about this already and the theater doesn't own the ramp ABM does. I just received 3 tickets that apparently I got 5 months ago so now they say I owe over $700! Note: the website you can on doesn't work on mobile! There was a News story about this and at the time I tried to use ABM's website to see if I had tickets and it said I didn't. So be advised NOT to use the parking ramp. Don't give ABM business. But do give this Regal location business
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible! To be such a beautiful place, they sure do have awful service! We were running about 20 minutes late for the movie, and they denied us access. The ticket taker, first of all, didn't greet us! He appeared as if he didn't even wanna be at work. Then I asked to speak with a manager. She was no better! She looked as if she had just rolled out of bed. I have no clue as to how she became a manager! Her greeting to us was, " What's up?!!" She showed no empathy at all. Just Terrible service.
We love this theater, but got hit with the same parking scam as all the other recent 1-stars and it really soured us. We actually TRIED to pay for parking electronically as the signs required, but the system wouldn’t let us. Any time we entered it would say “invalid time.” So we thought, well, must be a new system, they’re working out the bugs, and they’ll have some grace. Nope—hit us with an $80 ticket. Absolutely a scam. Disgusting. Please work this out so we can enjoy the theater again.
Person at the cash register lied to us and said that a pretzel would take 10-15 minutes but when we waited for 20 min nothing came out so we asked another employee and they just grabbed a pretzel from the machine and gave it to us... As well as this both me and my partner felt sick and had stomach issues the day after most likely from the horrible and overpriced food Genuinely go to any other movie theater and you will have a much much better experience for basically the same price
Parking is a SCAM! Their current parking is being investigated by the state. This info is on CBS Chicagos website. It’s a bait and switch. Payment is unclear, there are no gates and you can enter and leave the garage as you wish. The cameras then take a picture of your plate and somehow get your phone number (major privacy issue!) and text you with a $80 fine whereas they could’ve been clear with their parking instructions and I would’ve only paid $4 or $5. NEVER returning here.
There is so strange cost savings being done here. The power to the arcade area is randomly off at times. BRING YOUR OWN ICE! Ice is a scare resource; have the water wars begun already and why did they start here? Despite 6 non ice dispensing room temp sofa stations, they do have adequate staffing to keep up with the lack of urgency any of the staff show. Not sure how filling a popcorn bucket can take 3-4 minutes, but they've got enough people to compensate for that delay.
This is about my experience on 7/31. The theatre was very busy, out of certain food, and ice. However, they truly have some of the kindest, most patient employees. Sara in particular was all over the place assisting nearly everyone and her co-workers. I watched them all deal with difficult customers and they all remained in good spirits even though it was very easy not to. Your staff is what makes your business and they all deserve the best! :)
Both on their website and on their menus inside show they have food, however when I was there they did not have any food available. Only had the typical movie theater food. The popcorn we ordered was cold and the Pepsi machines were a mess. Out of the four machines there, 1 was not working at all and only showed a black screen. Ice only worked on 1 machine and two of the machines had only water coming out when Pepsi was selected.
HONEST REVIEW IS 0 STARS. Unable to do so here, but this place is trash. The employees are not properly trained and informed of their parking lot. The parking lot IS NOT FREE! They leave the gates open ALL the time and when we ask to pay for our parking, employee stated that parking was included with our movie ticket purchase. That was a lie! This place is a scam and should be closed down. Don't give them business.
Only went here because Barbie was sold out everywhere else. Parking is a complete scam - no transparency or easy way to pay, then you are hit with a text the next day for an $80 fine. One bathroom was closed and the other was packed and had two broken sinks. The soda machine was pouring water, the popcorn was cold, and the concession line was excruciatingly slow and long. This place is grim. Will not go back.
This theater has been amazing for years , I love that they still have arcade games and cranes also close to restaurants in case you feel like more than pop corn or pop , but overall they have a great selection, even pay per view events, and exclusive anime movies ,also a great recommendation if you want to host a birthday party for you or your kids it is a must experience, a nice pearl in the City of Chicago
Legitimately a disgusting building, went to see Conan the Barbarian here last December and the lights that were supposed to dim when the movie started playing were broken. Two employees then proceeded to try and fix the issue angering everyone in the audience as the lights were now dimming rapidly which was incredibly distracting. Having now learned of their parking scam, I'm never returning to this theater.
The theater is nice. Staff is friendly. The Kiosk to get tickets always is a problem. Just ask to go to the concession stand. They sell tickets too. The issue with this place is the parking. It appears free. Arm up to go in and out. We then got an $80 ticket saying we didn't pay. I had to fight the company, provide proof, pay $5 as a parking fee and $5 as a convience fee to do it online.
No one is monitoring the theaters. I purchased 4DX tickets and go to the theater and an entire family is sitting in the seats we paid for. Apparently another large family was sitting in their seats. I ended up not seeing the movie I paid for and I’m still waiting twice weeks later for my refund. Definitely not a safe environment either, anyone can walk in to see a show clearly.
I made $4.20 for parking in August and I keep getting collection mail requiring me to pay a $160 fine for evading parking. I have tried to contact the theater and find the phone number to the parking company, but each letter feels like a scam without an email, phone number or accurate address to address this dispute. Don’t use their parking lot. They will scam you.
This is my main theater. With that said... I really wished they updated this theater. It is so uncomfortable. You feel like you're sitting right on top of people. They need to reduce the amount of seats and install bigger seating. I'm not a big person or a tall person but I wished I could stretch out my legs but I can't. Hopefully you'll update the seating soon.
I like the stadium seating, but it's expensive compared to some other theatres around town. Went to go see Killers of the Flower Moon here recently, a 3.5 hour movie, and they played about 15 minutes of ads, plus, 15 minutes of trailers. Read the room here guys, 30 mins of pre-show is too much. Going elsewhere next time I want to see a movie.
July 2023. Saturday afternoon show. Theater #1 was CLEAN for the 1pm show. No empty containers and no popcorn on the floor. Online tickets/seats were fine. Decided to use LYFT to avoid any weirdness with the parking garage as reported on other revues. All good here. Standard theater, standard pricing on tix & food. No surprises.
They NEEEEED to fix their concession stand and parking. I’ve been going here consistently for a year and a half and they’re always out of food. Also their parking scanner never works and if you do it a couple minutes after parking or after the movie you get hit with an $80 fine. They need to fix concession and parking
Actually a very nice place for being downtown, and they had a very easily accessible parking lot connected to the theater which I believe was free the day we went Memorial Day weekend. Even better, someone from our IMAX group couldn't make it and we were able to refund the extra ticket before they movie started!
Went to see SAW X in 4DX Unfortunately the theater was filled with cannabis vaping and ignorant kids talking loud, standing up and around in front of the rows. To be honest I'd request a refund if I could. The movie got ruined by ignorant teens and kids. It smelled bad, couldn't hear or see the movie at times.
This was my go to theater for 15+ years. Unfortunately, they brought in a predatory company to run their parking lot. ABM parking keeps sending me letters doubling the fine over and over and now threatens to turn me over to collections over a highly suspect parking fee. I can no longer patronize this theater.
Nice theater. Pretty clean and well maintained. Inadequate parking for bicycles/scooters. Lots of evident demand for bike racks, but existing inventory of bike racks is inadequate. Perhaps protected bike parking in the garage? The current bike rack jumble is a deterrent to coming to this theater.
Ridiculous parking situation now. Go somewhere else. Bathroom has been broken for over a year. Soap not in dispensers. Faucets don't all work. Legit a dump now....and if u drive in their parking situation is ridiculous wouldn't let me pay except for another day. Advanced system to park? Duck that
Absolutely absurd parking situation BEWARE!!!! There is no parking information or communication and they will send you a parking notice for $80 to $160 if you leave your car there to watch a movie... Regal!!! Please do something about this immediately.
Bad product, they gave us leftover popcorn, they were more popcorn than pigeons, the taste was like rancid oil, the soda tasted horrible and to make matters worse, the room stank of urine. I will definitely think twice before returning to the cinema.
Went to go try and go see Black panther 2 in 4dx today got tickets 8 days in advance( on the regal website), was super excited to go see black panther and we were trying to catch the 10:30 a.m. show, but slowly after parking in the garage,
They changed the parking system so now you have to pay- $4 minimum. The free parking was great and it’s so dumb they got rid of it. Their soda machines also lack good options. I fear this the last time I will be going to this theater :(
Positives: menu, arcade area, brisk-moving lines, feels cleaner than our usual home theater, particularly the restrooms. Downside: the parking garage. The parking validation machines have been down more than once and one of the times,
Went there for the IMAX screening. It's not real IMAX, just a slightly large screen. The main areas are not clean: carpets filthy, garbage bins overflowing, tile covered in soda spots. The bathrooms are as dirty as porta-potties. The
I consistently have the worst movie experiences here, at best they’re just okay. Especially with parking not free anymore, it’s hard to justify the slow concessions, unclean bathrooms, broken soda machines, and damaged movie screens.
Nice, well kept theater with the friendliest concession workers. Could use a little better cleaning between shows. They seem to miss garbage in cup holders once in a while. But, compared to other theaters they are still top notch.
IMAX speakers were going in and out making horrible noises , they forgot to turn lights off until significantly into the movie, told us they were out of pretzels but had other pretzel items...it was just bad.
It’s a decent theatre. The staff is great. I went there to watch Oppenheimer. I didn’t get snacks other than popcorn. I’m still salty about that. But as I mentioned the staff was really nice and cheerful.
Good luck finding your left items from STAFF WHO SAYS THEY DONT HAVE IT. Thankfully security here was helpful and pressed management for it. Finally returned. Terrible. Visitors beware, they steal here.
My most frequented theater. One of the only places in town with IMAX. Big theaters, but without the recliner seats, unfortunately. No alcohol served here. Also has an arcade.
The theater is fine if a bit tired in the hallways; the cinemas themselves are good. Have been going for years, but recently received a letter in the mail from ABM
Lost my phone here and although I did not find it, Edward was very kind and helpful with trying to work with me to take my information in case they did find it.
very easy parking garage. awesome and clean theater. wish seats reclined tho. great sound on theater. great picture quality. clean parking garage. i love it
Went to REGAL, saw an IMAX film. Great sound. Clear picture. Distinct colors. Clean place. VERY busy…. Parking is a flat $2, not bad
Nice arcade with fairly modern games. The theater is pretty clean and the 4DX is the best way to watch any action film.
the monthly price is great. i go once or twice a week! I just never buy anything from the concession.
