Came here on 3/4 with my girlfriends to see a movie and had no idea what we were about to walk in to. Let me start off by saying this used to be my favorite theater for years! We walked in and immediately noticed long lines for every single kiosk and at the concessions but didn’t think anything of it because it was a Saturday rainy night and just thought it was a busy evening to see a movie. WRONG. We waited to redeem our tickets and then put in an order for food. (We each ordered a drink and a pretzel). We get out receipts and head to the concession stand to grab our snacks and ended up waiting 20 minutes to even speak to someone. By then our movie was 15 min in. So we get up there and the woman looks at our receipts and says “yeah, it’s gonna be an hour wait for all food and snacks, but I can give you your drinks now.” Good Lord, an hour!? Our jaws dropped and then another angry customer next to us said. “Don’t bother girls. Our movie just ended and we still didn’t get our order.” I’m like what!! No explanation as to why, just said there was a wait for all food. So we go to catch the movie and about another 30 min goes by and we all get a text notification that our order is ready, so Yayy! We get up and head to pick it up, have to wait in ANOTHER 20 min line to even get up to the counter, and then they tell us the confirmation text is wrong and none of our orders are ready. We start laughing bc by now we’ve missed most of our movie for a $13 dollar pretzel that we have yet to get. We noticed there was bags of popcorn from one machine and asked if they could give us popcorn instead for the inconvenience and they did. (It was burnt ). But we were so hungry we didn’t care. They should’ve offered it to us anyway without us having to ask… but whatever. We took the popcorn and headed back to our movie. We noticed so many teens running around, jumping and playing on the escalators, and not one security guard in sight… not to mention the place was completely trashed with garbage everywhere and no one cleaning. So disappointed in this place.

Yesterday on Wednesday June 7th, after graduating eight grade, at about 6:30 p.m. my nephew and nieces and some friends went to the movies. it was at least 20kids and 2 adults. when they arrived at the theater, they was trying to purchase tickets the manager there was giving my niece a hard time, telling her she couldn't buy that many tickets unless she was 17. she was 17 years old and the manager never asked her for an ID. They Missed half of the movie dealing with that situation. they proceeded to the movie and to their seats to order food. They waited over thirty minutes for their food, so they were getting up to go back and forth to check their food to go to the bathroom. over an hour had passed and they still haven't got their food. The Same Manager put them out of the movies cause they said they were disturbing the movie, because they was getting up to check on their food and use the wash room. their was plenty of other kids of other races running back and forth. but because it was a group of black kids, they were treated poorly and discriminated against. I am in rage, that these kids who are honor roll student and very well behaved had to be mistreated, while celebrating a moment in life. I want answers and something to be done. I would like the owner or corporate to contact me or I will contact every news outlet to make this an issue. because, we are tired . black kids cant go anywhere to enjoy themselves. I want this issue addressed.

Thought I was going to have a cleanly, fun movie experience tonight NOT. We walked into theater 5 to see Scream to find that the entire theater CLEARLY had not been sanitized at all. Leftover popcorn kernels in my seat, sticky soda around the entirety of the cup holders, just looked like 12 groups had seen a movie before us & it was never cleaned after. Talked to a lady with glasses about the issue who claimed she would send a young lady in to clean the theater. The young lady walked in with a broom, swept one area in the front of the theater & left. LIKE YOU WOULD THINK with all this illness and covid going around, they would care NOT. I went and talked to the same lady again with glasses and asked for a manager, could you believe she smiled in my face and said she’s the manager!!!! I explained how the young lady didn’t sanitize still & she told me that she would send the young lady back in with towels and sanitizer like she wasn’t supposed to do that in the first place. I’m currently in the theater and still have yet to see anyone come in to sanitize lol. JUST DISGUSTING & needs NEW MANAGEMENT bc the lady with the glasses clearly wants us to get sick and file a lawsuit :) I would advise this place to start doing their jobs, too nice of a theater to be having such a horrible experience. She didn’t even offer to accommodate us in any way either for this trifling experience. I guess she thought it was funny, I hope this isn’t so funny.

This used to be a phenomenal theater complex which is why I am giving it a 3 instead of 2. Maybe things are usually different; but I can only speak on my experience. Parking was easy and getting into the theater was nice. Unlike newer “dine in” theaters, food is only delivered to people in VIP. All others must order their food at the kiosks and await to receive a text message saying that their food is ready. We’re 20 minute into the movie with no text message so I went to see if it was ready. The gentleman who was at the counter acknowledged me, then went to clean for 5 minutes before someone else came. She asked my name and gave me part of my order. Apparently, it was ready and waiting but no message was sent. The fries were now cold and the order was incomplete. I went back to the theater as I didn’t want to miss more of the movie. Regarding the theater… the seats are big and comfortable. They are also old and flaky. They definitely show their wear over the years. The floors were littered with popcorn and paper. With so many newer, cleaner, theaters, with better service or the option to watch movies at home, why waste you money coming to this theater? I feel like this theater is taking advantage of the fact that it is the largest one close to the south side of the city so there is less competition to be great. That’s unfortunate as it has so much potential.

The seats are comfortable, I'll give it that. That's about the best I can say. The experience is automated to make sure that the service is devoid of human contact as possible. They make you order from kiosks, picking up at the counter. One of the TWO *kiosks for the entire first level of the theatre* was down, which caused a wait to use the one. You need to touch the screen that others had just touched (before probably rubbing their face, chewing their nails or picking their nose). Then you pick up the refreshments you ordered at a disease kiosk. After that, you touch another disease-covered screen to fill your soda. I filled my soda and sat down to watch the previews, only to find that it was brown, flavorless, fizzy water. Going back out, I tried another fountain. Same result. Another fountain. Same result. They said they had "more on order"...which seems like bad management on a busy Thanksgiving weekend. At least they refunded my money for the soda and gave me bottles of water...after I missed the first few minutes of the movie while I sorted it out. The final frustration was that one of the two validation kiosks was down causing a line. First world problems, but I drove all the way from Rogers Park to get the movie at the time I wanted. I'd been to Icon before and it was fine. But this was just...blah.

We often go to this theater. They have nice facilities, quick ordering via kiosk, and the picture/sound quality is top notch. The bass will shake your seats. The seats have tables and recline. You also have the option of buying VIP tickets which allows you to sit on the upper balcony with slightly larger seats I believe. There is also a full bar there and booths. They will deliver food to your seat. I have two complaints. The first complaint is that the shared parking garage has a faulty exit gate. It results in long wait time to exit... which is annoying to say the least. Also the card reader at the gate does not work, so you will experience issues if you didn't prepay for your parking. My second complaint is that they only stamp your parking voucher for 1.5 or 2 hours max I believe, and most movies today have playing times exceeding the complimentary parking. This is frustrating because the stamping machine is within the theater, only accessible to patrons. They should not have a time limit on the parking validation or at the very least extend it past normal movie times so customers have time to park, order concessions, and walk... This is why I only gave 4-stars. Other than those complaints, it is a nice theater.

Im done with this place. I usually give a place 2 times. First, the popcorn was awful. Managment apologized and gave me free tickets which was nice. I went back and they fixed the popcorn. From tiny kenels to decent popcorn. After a couple of months, went again. Ordered a burger and after 3 attempts, lost first 20 minutes of the movie, they finally brought out the hamburger and no sorry no nothing. I still went back and again as I am eating the popcorn, tiny kernels, all the end scraps from the machine. I am done. Literally, uncooked popcorn, and tiny tiny kernels. I personally told them that the popcorn/dining for me and I think for most people makes the experience. I did not mind paying the 11 dollars to park, but after the movie price, which is more than amc, and the terrible popcorn/service, why should I ever go there and get aggravated again. I am done. They can have that huge nice theatre with people who do not care that work there. Oh. i asked for a little cup for extra butter once and they gave me the look... Like, really?? AMC has tons for you to take to put extra butter or ice. I told the guy, "what you think I am trying to get over on a drink in this little cup" This place is a joke!

Definitely will not be returning to this theater. Reading the negative reviews and couldn’t agree more. In the last 2 months I have been to this theater twice and it has really gone downhill. You have teenagers hanging out in the theater, jumping from theater to theater being loud and rude while others are watching the movie. This has happened both times I have been. I went to get security and even he couldn’t get the teenagers to chill. They were on their phones, talking and laughing loudly, running in and out of the theater and it’s sad because you have people playing to see a movie but can’t enjoy it because of the distractions. Security does nothing because he can’t, he’s a lot older and the kids do not listers to him. And let’s not get into the food and cleanliness of the theater. Just terrible. Last night there was a fight that ended up in a shooting inside of the theater. Safe to say that I will not be returning. There are other theaters in the area without these problems. Go to the AMC at Block 37 or 600 N. Michigan Ave. You will love it there

My daughters Barbie experience was ruined. I live all the way in Michigan City Indiana and pre payed for my daughters Barbie experience at your facility to have it ruined. She attended the Barbie Pop up(Malibu Barbie Cafe Chicago) and to be followed by the movie. My daughter arrived at the movie with people on her seats and couldn’t get them moved. Why are we pre paying online again? Then my family was spoken too as if they done wrong and was being given a favor. The seats sucked compared to the pre payed seats and the group was not able to sit together. The management would not refund event, help for extended parking because they had to wait for a later movie, nor offered any type of comfort for this lost. I’m sorry as I was writing this letter I was updated, free movie passes. A group of 4 was offered at first 2 free passes, then came back and said 4. This is absolutely horrible I wish my daughter didn’t have to get her experience ruined because my family chose to bring in Barbie with your family…but my family lost in the end. Chris Reeves

I had to change my rating from 5 to 2 because of their air conditioning during summer! I don’t know if they turn it off in between or just increase the temperature but it gets very hot in there one hour through the movie! It was specifically in the 10 pm shows! I literally had to go out and tell them to reduce the temperature after which the air conditioning went back on but again stopped after another half an hour! I hope the management is reading this! The theatre is clean and the seats are comfortable! Please keep good amount of air conditioning in summer at-least! I am writing this big review only because this is my go to place for movies! I visit this place for almost every movie and i had this problem for my last two movies! I hope it gets better for my next movie and i will make sure i come back and change my review and rating . Thanks!

Fantastic theatre experience. Saw The Flash here in Icon-X with Dolby Atmos. While the theatre doesn’t have Dolby Vision like AMC’s Dolby Cinema, it still was an incredible visual and audio experience. Colour and clarity were fantastic and the Dolby Atmos was top notch, even better than other Dolby Atmos theatres I’ve been to. I saw this same film previously, including in IMAX, and the Icon presentation was much better to the point where I actually enjoyed the film more because of the presentation quality. Recliner seating was also very comfortable and theatre itself has great sight lines. Movie ticket prices were also reasonable given the quality of the presentation. Only complaints are the really high pricing of the concessions and having to order concessions through the machine. Other than that, a great experience.

I was really upset since I had booked the VIP tickets for the spider man movie and I went with my kids. They said kids are not allowed in the vip seat which I get it and so I asked if they could just swap it with another person who has the seats away from the screen but the girl was a Mexican she gave the seats to another Mexican family and put me and my kids in the very front row. She was very rude and did not offer any reimbursement Also the seats were very dirty pop corns drinks everywhere . I always go the icon theater with my little ones but this is one of the worst experiences . To this day I cannot forget the way she behaved the other staff was also disappointed by her behavior. I atleast go there once a month with my kids and book my tickets through Fandango .

NOT SAFE! This place has gone downhill. It's no longer safe to go there. The management knows that there are groups of teens attacking and robbing people as they exit. Reports show the same teens have been robbing the other stores in the area, "smash and grabs". Some were arrested and released to their parents. However, the same guys are still attacking and mugging people. We were targeted last Sunday by three of them. They split up and wait at the bottom of the exit escalators inside the building. Where there are NO Cameras and NO Security guards. We were told "sorry" by the manager on duty. Completely useless! They got away by scattering into seporate theatres! They were IN the building! And yet, security STILL couldn't find them. Avoid this theatre.

Let me make an update! Went to see the Exorcist screener last Tuesday. The movie was having issues from beginning with sound. Waited almost 15 mins in to try and fix it. They tried 3 times before saying the screener was canceled and wouldn't be having another one for the movie. People were asking about the parking....about bfood refunds, ANYTHING. The manager Vanito sounded so nonchalant about the situation and so rude while people were asking what we could get in return for food paid... parking fee and time wasted. They had the police and security guards outside the theater and everything. It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't had the attitude he had. Screener or not. That's our time and money spent coming there to enjoy ourselves.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Icon Roosevelt Theater and was blown away by the overall experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was struck by the grandeur of the historic building and the beautiful Art Deco design. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the theater itself was clean and well-maintained. The selection of films was excellent, with a range of new releases and classic favorites. The audio and visual quality of the movies was top-notch, and the comfortable seating made for a truly enjoyable cinematic experience. Overall, I had a fantastic time at the Icon Roosevelt Theater and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special night out at the movies. Five stars all the way!

  • Monse Martinez

This used to be my favorite theater to go to and I don’t know what happened… recently went and found that the entire staff has been replaced by machines. Lobby and concessions area just filthy and unkempt. You feel like an idiot just waiting around to see where your concessions are supposed to come from. It took about an hour to get our pizza and a worker came out with a rolling cart with all these orders stacked on top of each other and everyone just flocked to him. I felt bad for the worker and it was just not a good experience. I missed like 20 mins of my movie. The whole movie going experience is just gone. It’s sad. Get rid of the machines and bring back people’s jobs.

I loved and had such a wonderful time together with my family today!!! We went to see Jurassic Park. This location is absolutely family friendly. The children loved ordering from the movie/food kiosk. The customer service i would rate 5 Stars Also there is a bonus with a play area, koi fish pond and fire place sitting area for the adults to sit and relax while the kids play in the park. Part2: We came back to see the Minions The Rise Of GRU the kids loved the movie and could not stop laughing . My son loved ordering from the kiosk. We had another wonderful time as a family enjoying the environment which is child friendly.

  • Cin Mo (Clark)

It's disappointing to see my favorite movie theater in such horrific conditions. When I entered the building, garbage was everywhere, and the staff was not attentive to ensuring a clean space. Additionally, the theater had trash on the recliners and floor. No one cleaned it until we notified management of the situation. Luckily, we were seated 5 minutes before the show. Overall, this cinema is neglected and no longer lives up to its value. Until change occurs, I, unfortunately, will not return. Management, please try to find solutions for your customer's concerns. Note to continuing customers: Consumers, please remember to pick up after yourselves.

Went to little mermaid the movie was great, the theater itself was so bad the seats are all torn up no lids for slurpee cups no soap in the bathroom no cup trays we arrived with a group of six so we spent well over $100 to sit in sears that had broken recliners 2 out of 6 chairs reclined the chair covers were basically non existent there was holes in all the chairs and the nachos were so cold by time the order text came that they remade them which made no sense how you could do that so fast but it took them 15 mins to bring them . Overall bad theater not worth what we paid for a graduate kiddo we will choose otherwise next time .

  • Coris

Horrible service. Came to this theater because of the food option. Our movie was at 7:30, and we ordered food through the scan qr code, which took forever to understand since no one was interested in serving us at the bar. When we finally got a chance to ask the bartender what counter we can pick up our food, he said that "it would take a while since they are backed up today." We will have to come back from theater 14 all the way to the lounge to CHECK if it would even be ready. Everyone walks with a nonchalant pace. There's no wonder they are backed up. Came here because we wanted to try the dining experience, never again.

  • Jordan Ronk

I see the popcorn buckets have changed to a thinner cheaper quality. We can't order concessions with a human-being, only kiosks. I would be fine with that if the prices didn't also go up. $15 for a cheap flimsy bucket of popcorn, broken recliners, dirty theaters (cup holders are full of trash, popcorn in the seats, sticky floor). Also, when we were reserving our seats for the theater, it showed most of the seats were taken and we had to take seats very close to the screen. But when we got to the theater it was completely empty. I don't know if it was a technical issue, or if 20 people just didn't show up to the movie.

  • Eman Jum (Emi)

My favorite theatre in downtown Chicago by far. They have a VIP screen for the newest movie of the week. 21 and over Bar where you can have a couple drinks before the movie starts! Drinks on me! Very classy and state of the art technology, amazing sound system, and screens. Just be ready to pony up the cash. A ticket for a VIP Flick is around $25 and it's assigned seats so get tickets early for popular movie nights. Alright hope I convinced one or two people to check Showplace Icon out even if it's a little pricy. Hey make it a special night out with your significant other. EnJoy!

  • Kaz

Ordering food here is a total nightmare. You can only order from a self-service kiosk, and they only have two in the whole place. Only 1 of 2 self service kiosks worked and it was probably the most confusing self-service UX I have ever dealt with. I asked why only one kiosk was working from the popcorn guy and was only met with attitude. Just let us order from real people. Also we booked a "loveseat" in the last row but there were no loveseats in the theater we were in. All the seats were the same, except we were in the back row in uncomfortable seats that barely reclined. Pass.

  • Tash Baskin

I can’t recommend this place at all. This is the most filthiest movie theater that I’ve ever been to. The slush & soda machines are always dirty with spilled drinks & slush everywhere including the floors. Popcorn section filthy as well. We finally ordered food here once and never received the order. Which is a good thing because I couldn’t even enjoy the movie with my son because I could only imagine how awful the kitchen looks. I had to keep running back to the counter to check on our order because I never got the text that our food was ready not even at the end of the movie.

  • Shey Chavez

I should have paid attention to the bad reviews and I took my chance and it was by far the most horrible experience ever. Got the VIP tickets to be able to have my food and drinks served straight to my seats and it was a complete disaster. After 40 mins of waiting for food I went to ask where my food was at only to be told that it was given to another family that lied and said they had placed the order then a second order was placed and that one never came as well after a total of an hour and a half I went back to bar to request a refund. I will never come back here again

  • Luis Aguirre

Excellent theater surrounded by a nice selection of stores, aesthetically pleasant to walk down the streets that lead up to it. The theater itself is clean and organized, staff is friendly and helpful on using the kiosks for purchasing movie tickets and snacks from the concession stand. The theater itself has the most popular seat reservation system with wide electric reclining seats. I was pleasently surprised at the selection of beer and wine offered--small menu about five beer options and only one wine option. Prices were reasonable for the area about 8-10$ per drink.

  • Aminah Weaver

I went to the 12:20 movie on 1-8-2023. I bought popcorn which i rarely do because of the expense. Bad idea!! It was stale, and I was so disappointed. I did not smell popcorn so that should have been a clue. There is very little engagement, everything has to be done through the computer. I noticed several seniors looking lost. Please have more of a presence for patrons not familiar with modern technology, and please don’t sell stale popcorn for $15.00, please respect our community, and give us the service we deserve. The customer service needs much improvement.

  • Kalette Lofton

Went to see Creed here yesterday it was truly my worst experience at a movie theater. Teenagers are running rampant through the theater with no adult supervision in sight. When I got to my seats teenagers were sitting in them. It was about 20 kids talking during the entire movie, walking around and acting like maniacs. I got up to talk with a manager but noticed it was already a worker from the theater standing there who just said nothing to the kids the entire time. I left before the movie was even finished. I don’t know how this place has 4 stars

  • Mary Henderson

I had the worst experience here this place has really went down in quality. The customer service was ridiculous we waited so long to receive our snacks. I went to see crime 4/4/23 theater 15 730 showtime. The film stopped several yes until it just froze all together before the climatic ending everyone was so disappointed I spent so much money there and the only thing offered was a refund and a pass to see the movie and barley got that the staff was so rude as if we should be lucky to get anything. This left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

  • Burt & Naomi Sorkin

Expensive parking. Validation only gives u $2 dollars off the regular 13 dollar price. Icon should give at least three hours of parking with validation as most movies and waiting takes at least this long. You need to give yourself extra time because even if u pre purchase tickets I have to wait in line at the ticket machines to order snacks. That's right you are not able to order at the concession counter. Twice now I've been here and skipped snacks due to this. I really wish there were more theatre options on this side of town.

  • Karan Chatterjee

Service can be lazy and slow (intentionally slow or due to inefficient crowd management) and the food offerings are basic. Decent beer list and a few liquor options. Best day to go is a tuesday for discounted tickets. The reclining seats can sometimes be defective, so check your seat before the movie starts. The screen and audio quality are ok, middle of the road and nothing spectacular. They could benefit from a modern surround sound experience. The last movie I went to had the volume jacked up to a very uncomfortable level.

  • Olivia Ramos

This theater has changed throughout the years. Right when you walk in it always has dirty floors. There’s a whole bunch of teenagers running around from theater to theater being loud. A bunch of crying kids in a rated r movie. The seats had not been clean and had crumbs all over. Lastly, when you buy tickets online they make you scan the QR code yourself to have a paper ticket printed to be shown to an employee who simply points you in the direction of your movie. It’s pointless and a waste of time and paper.

  • Miguel Angel

On a Monday we went to a screening this time. The movie theater validates parking for the first 90 minutes, after that you pay 10 dollars or more. As for the service they were fast and accurate, As for the place it looks clean. There is assigned seating so it is nice to know your seat will be available and do not have to rush to get to the theater. The seats recline and they are a bit soft with cup holders on both armrests. Easy to find and plenty of stores and restaurants in the same mall to visit.

  • Mike Gaines

The theater could use a deep cleaning. We bought our tickets online and still had to wait in the same line with people who were purchasing tickets on the spot. The food menu has changed and there was confusion about whether or not food gets brought to your seat or not. We traveled 12 miles for the experience we had years ago when this movie theater opened. Sad to say it's fell off. There's theaters in almost every neighborhood with comfortable reclining seats. Save time and find one close to home.

  • Charity Parker

Price are incredible for tickets but it has gotten very ghetto over run by ghetto teenagers, I can't tell there is a curfew in place because teens are there without parents well after the curfew time.i went to see cocaine bear to celebrate my birthday but I really couldn't enjoy myself everywhere I looked kids running around girls were fighting in the bathroom and boys where shooting dice in the other bathroom. This is still my favorite theater but I need them to get it together and fix this

  • Will Stanhope

We got to the theater just as the trailers are starting, to see the aisles trashed! I was the only one who apparently cared since it wasn't reported by that time. Our seats were covered in trash so we sat in some empty ones that were decent. An employee came in as the movie was on and attempted to clean in the dark. 20 minutes later another employee came and asked us to move. Very unsatisfied with this venue! Ruined movie enjoyment! (These pictures are of the theater before!)

  • Nasia Krikonis

This place is by far the worst. I complained about their popcorn bring tiny pebbles. They apologized and after giving them another chance again same.. their custo mer service is so ridiculous bad. Lost movie time because they could not get order correct. You pay 11 dollars for parking just to go there and get terrible service. I'll just stick to amc where I never keep having problems. I mean how hard is it to have decent popcorn. Your a movie that really. Shame... I

  • DJ CHI-Town Clown

Very comfortable, the no reentry to theater is a bit confusing seeing as if you wanted to go to the restroom or get more concessions and not being able to get back into the watch your movie would be a little frustrating I think they should explain that a little bit better. Other than this the theater was comfortable, clean and the staff members were very polite for the most part. We had no issues, no problems, me and my son watched a movie and it was great.

  • Love

I’ve been going to this theater for years now and it was clean before, I have not been here since 2020 and I was happy to return. The elevator that takes you to the theater smelled like urine, then I go into the theater and it was dirty and had a funky smell. The movie kept having silent moments too, it appears the sound was not working, and throughout the movie there were kids talking. There was no supervision regarding unaccompanied teenagers.

  • Robert Losha

As a result of having self service kiosks, their staff has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in a movie theater. Had to wait 15 minutes for a pretzel which turned into 30 minutes because nobody informed me that the pretzel had been sitting there done the whole time. Missed the first 30 minutes of the movie because of this and the pretzel was bone hard. Do yourself a favor and find a convenient AMC theater instead.

  • FELICIA WILLIAMS

My POF date took me to this theater to see Candyman this past Saturday. It is truly nice inside and it’s located in a nicely lit and colorful mall in Downtown Chicago! Everything is so different now! How you pay for the movie and snacks is something new and something some may have to get used to! The theater seating was really nice. They had comfortable red leather seating and I felt safe inside of the movie theater!

  • Cameron Kanofsky

The movie aspect of this theater is great. It has big releases, it's in a prime spot in the city, and their theaters are both comfortable and well-maintained. The problem comes from their *supremely* overpriced food and drink, as well as soda machines that were out of just about everything. That's not even close to enough to stop me from enjoying their theaters, but do yourself a favor and just eat beforehand.

  • Charles Bland Jr

Very simple checkin and entry. I bought VIP tickets and super happy I did. The bar experience and drinks were excellent. Friendly bartenders who knows how to make drinks!Happy hour prices are good!! The theater seats were heated and comfortable. The only complaint I have is the price of garage parking. Even with validation I ended up paying $15 to see Avatar. I know it's a long movie but that's Too Much!!

  • Black Knight

I used to love coming here but after tonight I won’t be back. I’m assuming they don’t clean the theater rooms after each movie. We had to dust our seats off that was filled with popcorn, candy wrappers in the cup holders, & globs of spit was on the floor. Then it was full of young adults loud, & rude throwing things that hit my guy. While we remained humbled, the situation could’ve very much escalated.

  • Liz Flynn

This remains a pretty good place to see a movie, although it's getting a little worn. The seats are cracked and threadbare, and the last two times we've been, the crowd has been pretty noisy throughout the movie. The vip area is such a cool concept and a pretty space, but it's perpetually understaffed, making it hard to use when you're trying to pop out of a movie to get a drink quickly.

Check-in (as in buying tickets and food) was pretty easy. You can buy tickets in advance online too. The staff were all pretty courteous and can help direct you as needed. Theaters and seats are easy to find. But if it's packed you may have trouble finding your specific seats. Overall a good movie-going experience. Plus you can wander around the mall while waiting for the movie to start.

  • Lee's Transportation & Travel Services

Not a bad movie theater. Very clean and the customer service is ok. Great location if you want to be near downtown Chicago. If you go outside near the shops you'll find some amazing views if the Chicago skyline There's also a couple of fire pits and a little pond filled with sequoia fish. This is maybe my 4th time at this theater and I'm petty sure I'll return. Happy traveling!

  • Susan Coleman

I’ve learned my lesson. Do not come and expect to get food or even snacks. They turned the whole idea of it into a circus. It takes much too much time and requires much too much effort for the amount that you pay. Bring back old fashion, concessions, where the people take your money and give you the food right when you order it. Otherwise, the theater experience itself is fine.

  • geneen dean

It's been about a year since I've gone to this theater... not sure if this is everywhere, but BEWARE you can only buy snacks though the kiosk, wait in long line to pay for it (maybe missing first part of movie) disappointed by its appearance, the seats were raggedy and torn, popcorn and garbage in between the seats. Just not up to par like it was. Probably won't be returning.

  • Kirstjen Lorenz

big comfy seats. cheap weekday, weeknight movies. blockbuster movies and occasionally an indie flick. walkable from pretty much anywhere in the South Loop or even downtown. And the first 2 hours of parking are free, with validated parking. The burgers at the concessions stand are surprisingly very good and the fries are two. Occasionally your reclining seat is broken

  • Omegawizard

Pretty rad place to watch a movie but there can be issues with ordering snacks and food even if you do it before hand But you will still get the food and it's easy to find a parking spot as long as you get the fast enough SO MAIN POINTS : -Go early to get good parking -order snacks/food somewhat before the movie -remember your a cool person and keep your great existence

  • M K Snigaroff

Large, cushy seats, perfect for cuddling with someone or just reclining solo. The seats are staggered such that there is no chance of having your view blocked by someone tall sitting in front of you. I give only 4 stars because I was unable to get a cup of water; you have to buy their overpriced Dasani water. Otherwise, a very fun experience, and parking is validated!

  • Eduardo Martinez

I enjoy going here. It's nice and clean Edit 5 Years later: the theater feels dinky these days. The sound seems off, far away, the seats are worn, and I feel like the space is dirty more often than not. I used to watch movies here exclusively, but these days I’m looking elsewhere if I can. It’s still a good theater, but it feels like it’s quickly declining in quality.

  • Matas Piv

Horrible experience. We went to go see a movie the 2 white ladys in front of us in like had big bags but when we were called up a man in a wheelchair checks us he told us to proceed and kept following us. As soon as we’re about to enter our theater he asks us to leave we asked him why and he said if we don’t leave he will call the police. Very racist theater and dirty

  • Kimberly Kornita

Love this theater. Yes, you pay for parking buts it's reasonable with validation. Theaters are typically pretty clean, spacious seats and have never had an issue with any not functioning. Food options are decent, free refills with large popcorn, etc. Bar options on site also good for pre movie drinks! There are also certain theaters where you can take your drinks.

  • Alvin So

Theatre has been here for a while now. The show was great. Staff was really chill. The screen and projector was great. The theater we were in which was 9 or 10? had reallly old seats. A little gross but I guess it was fine. Just picky consumer things. I would have liked cleaner better seats. Also, Leslie the manager was great. She kept it real. Give her a raise.

  • Nicole Rodgers

Decent movie prices I guess... the seats in my theatre were ripped and broken, but that is a part of the wear I guess. I loooooove the parking price though LOL. 2hrs free and $11 anytime after 2hrs. Have to park in the red for the theatre section. The elevators by P1 the M section will take you directly to theatre and right by kiosk to purchase movie tickets

  • Kimberly Holley

Nice little gem in the south loop! You can catch some shopping and good food prior to/or after the showtime. They have a bar upstairs (open to the public), the drinks are amazing and strong! The staff is super friendly! Love the recliner chairs and they do offer food at this location. If your movie selection is less than 2hrs, parking is free.

  • Laura C

Ordering process from VIP section is horrible. Very confusing and not efficient. It says online when purchasing ticket they deliver food/Drink to your seat. Not entirely true. You have to go back downstairs to get popcorn/pop/candy. Never received the beer I ordered. No signs explaining anything. Will never be returning and do not recommend.

  • Cleveland Smith

I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every visit to this theater. ICON is my first choice for movie-watching. My only criticism is one you will find to be true with all movie theaters, that being the snacks are too expensive. The recliners, and ability to order food and buy adult beverages have made for a great recipe in movie going.

  • Mercedes Jones

We just saw Little Mermaid there. We were in the VIP section. Was confused by the contactless ordering and so were some of the staff. We thought we could order food from our seat but that feature wasn’t functioning. We ended up having to get up and go pick up food downstairs. The bartender was great though! Loved the happy hour!

  • Aya Ito

Went and saw Nope and for most of the movie, the film was messed up... there was a light part on the bottom left corner for almost the entirety of the movie. You pay money to watch a movie at a theater for a better watching experience and a better screen. It was so distracting. It looked like someone was shining a flashlight

  • Tomas Gregory

Used to be a great movie theater. Now it's a hangout spot for teenagers who run in and out of theaters to interrupt movies for paying customers. Prices have gone up. Upkeep of the chairs has gone down. The last 2 movies I saw there mobs of teenagers ran through our theater screaming and causing chaos. Needs more security.

  • Andrew Penery

Best theater. Cheaper than most with big cushy full reclining seats, huge screens with fantastic picture, amazing sound system. Clean and in great condition. I would say don't bother with the "VIP experience". It's more expensive for balcony seats with a separate entrance--just worse view and sound of the same screening.

  • Faux Panjandrum

Much like pretty much every single theater on the face of the earth, it seems this place too also costs an arm and a leg for the concession stands. Other than that, though, this place is really nice and was really clean. The chairs are comfortable and retract, which was nice, and the staff seems pretty friendly overall.

  • John L

I like this theatre for the big screens, good sound system and the super comfy lounge seats. The initial check in was a little confusing but I figured it out. You just have to self check in at the kiosk and print your tickets if you paid online. Note that some seats are starting to peel from wear and is showing its age

  • Eliz Lee

Favorite movie theater in Chicago. Fully immersive movie viewing with extra large movie screens, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround Sound. Add to that assigned seating, plush recliners, adult beverages, food delivery service to your seat.. going to the movies isn’t just something you do anymore, it’s an entire experience!

  • Roland Stewart

The (lobby lounge) bar area, customers shd be able to hear modern contemporary music instead of the tired old, sleepy Jazz music they currently play. It's horrible! Its a turn off! My friends and family hate it! Please consider changing the music back to current music ppl wanna hear. The jazz is old, tired and stale!

  • Imran Zaman

The theater is nice, but some of the seats are getting old and look worn out, but are comfortable and can recline. The screen is huge and sound is top notch. The problem was with the soft drinks, make sure you test it before you go to your theater it can be a long walk back. 4.5/5 because of the above mentioned

  • Latanya Melton

Needs a deep cleaning, you can tell we havr been lack after COVID,seats were dirty dried nacho cheese in chairs. I need to understand the point of mobile ordering, when your food arrives 2 min before the start of the movie and the attendant is kind enough to bring it to you. The portions of food were great.

  • Yvonne C

I’d give zero stars if I could. They had one working kiosk for food, you are not able to go and talk to a human to place your order. their app didn’t work, didn’t take my booking number. i have to pay $11 extra dollars to park because my movie isn’t an hour long. skip this theater go anywhere else.

  • Andy Torres

Of i could give zero stars I would. I was there Saturday evening when they started shooting in theater and we all ran out emergency doors and then police floodied the area so we left. Now Fandango or Ikon theyer wants to refund me for my movie I didn't get to see because of an active shooter.

  • Ivan Vislavskiy

This nice local movie theater is my favorite place to go for movies. The seats are very comfortable, and you can fold them all the way. Good verity of snacks is available. I also love that they have a bar with kitchen to enjoy after or before the movies. Amazing place! Highly recommend!

  • Upallnit Coleman

Clean, large theatre with multiple screens and good customer service. Love their $6.00 dollar movie Tuesdays for VIP members (along with other perks). All seats are recliners, and the food is served at the concession stands only (including beer and wine). This is my favorite theatre.

  • chris sanchez

Watch my first UFC event at a movie theater. Gotta say it was pretty awesome. First two hours of parking is free than it's 11 bucks after that. They have food , liquor and normal movie stuff. Everything you order is on a machine, than hand your receipt to them and they will get it .

  • A L

Please don't come here.. Save your money. Absolutely appalling conditions. They raised prices on food, lowered quality of service and cleanliness. The bathrooms are completely filthy, it's sickening...Can't describe how egregious this location has become. What a shame to Chicago!!

  • Dennis Da'le

Horrible went to this place in the summertime. The air condition was not working the icy machine was broken. I was giving some passes that didn’t notice that they were only for 30 days expiring. I have not heard from you. I have not received anything from you to replace this.

  • Adventures of J and R

Not sure what happened to this place but they just turned away my 15 year old daughter and her 15 year old friend from a pg-13 movie. What a joke, the manager claims it’s been like that for years. News Flash, they’ve been going solo for years. Time to find a new spot

  • Eron Morgan

This place is so cute. The heated seats and spaciousness of the seat. The food was okay, in that the concept is there (e.g. bacon popcorn) but the delivery needs tweaked (lots of unpopped kernel and bacon settle together in the package). Loved the experience though.

  • Tannika Jones

The movie theater we sat in was filthy! Seats were nasty with food stuck on them. The sides of the seats had food stuck on them. Under the seats has so much trash you can tell it wasn't just from that day. Chairs should be reclined daily so you can clean under them.

  • lisa li

The theater is great in a way that offers super comfortable chairs/sofa. We can lie down basically. I went to section 3 but assume it would be the same type. If the movie is somehow boring, I don’t mind to sleep in a comfortable way. Will definitely come back!!

  • Irma Zygadlo

The theater isn't bad at all ...... it's the outrageous prices for a simple soda or bottled water, so you don't choke on your high priced popcorn you just paid for ..... which prevents me from going there again. I'll stay home and watch Netflix!! …

  • Teresa Roman

Big and comfy chairs that recline. Although our soda holder was dirty. The butter station was dirty and we went to the first showing so how is that possible? Need to have someone stationed to keep cleaning that area since it is high traction area.

  • V. C. T.

I really like this theater. The seats are all recliners and it's stadium seating, so the view is good. I don't do concessions, so no opinions on that. It would be nice if the WiFi is easier to access, but we're there for the movie experience.

  • Paxton Anthony Murphy

The idiots that run this theater act like bratty 5 year olds. They take people randomly to choose to serve first and then get all mad at you when you call them on it. The Assistant Supervisor is very passive aggressive. Then when I said "Ok

  • Estephanie Garcia

This used to be my favorite theater but it seems as if they stopped keeping up with maintenance throughout the years. It is filthy dirty right from the moment you walk in. Some recliners don't work which is so inconvenient when it's packed.

  • erincinco

This place is probably fine if you only see movies in their VIP theaters. Forget enjoying yourself elsewhere, however, because although this theater seems to pride itself on not having an arcade, and requiring guardians for kids under 18

  • Joel Blunt

So confused what happened here. Used to come here with my brother. You can't find seats in the back anymore? I think they're trying to upcharge for it? Which fine - but you can't even tell on the website how it works. All very confusing!

  • Ebony Stewart

The seats are plush, they recline and even have a warming setting. The worst part of visiting this ICON theater was ordering and receiving our food. You have the go to a kiosk and pay there using a card. You then take your receipt to an

  • Carmella Davis

Wonderful place, great atmosphere!!! I didn't get a chance to experience the lounge section but I will be back to do that. They have a beautiful garden out back to enjoy and view downtown City of Chicago. SORRY ABOUT THE RAGGEDY PICTURE

  • Isaac Liu

The seats are nice and the movie experience was comfortable. However, the ticketing and check in kiosks are annoying and hard to use. Why do I need to scan a separate barcode on my phone to print out a ticket, rather than just have the

  • Samuel Vaughn

Icon theater is a great place to watch new movies, I do wish their staff and security was a little more tentative as the crowds seem at time rambunctious as you will have to have patience as the kids play and hangout in the walk ways.

  • Rick Stage

The movie looked great and the seats were comfortable. Unfortunately the sound was so loud it hurt my ears, and the dialog was so badly distorted I couldn’t make out what was being said much of the time. I had a headache when I left.

  • Eden Adele

I usually have a great time here and the food is typically overpriced and the seats are showing OBVIOUS wear! That said, the movies are always first run, the facility is spacious, and the food in the restaurant is very good.

  • Gurleen Kaur

Fantastic movie theater! It’s tucked away in a little shopping complex but is such a hidden gem! It’s way less crowded than the theaters in river north or in the loop with comfy recliners! The matinee prices are killer too!

  • Lee Mickus

good food and bar, reserved reclining leather seats, masks no longer required, self ticketing, nice view from bar, there is a garage for parking, can bring food and drinks into theater, escalator broken. Must climb stairs.

  • Brian Moreno

After experiencing a cheaper theatre I can now say for sure Showplace ICON will always be my go to. Prices are high but everything is almost perfect. Cleanliness, staff, giant screen, great location, everything is good.

  • Andres P.

Great cinema (screen, temperature, sound, chairs) but once there were small cockroaches in my seat. I felt them in my arm and with the cellphone's flash I saw what they were. Moved to a far away seat and it was ok

  • Chef Omar Rodriguez

This place was very nice. Very clean. Very good movie. Very quiet everybody West friendly definitely definitely Very Nice Pl., Stephanie we coming back for watch a new movie and the future when they coming out.

  • Felice

This used to be my favorite theater. But now there is no matinee pricing anymore. So during the weekday at noon they charge $14.75. That's so insane and sad. I won't be coming any more unless it's on Tuesday.
