I'm surprised at the negative reviews I have seen here. We've been using Wai Auto Service for almost 20 years for all of our vehicles. Routine service (oil changes, snow tires, mufflers, brakes, etc) are all done when we need it, without any significant wait for an appointment, and always at a significant savings to their competitors. None of our vehicles are "precious", so we really appreciate their option of using either manufacturer or third party replacement parts, as we choose. (We like the bargain, and the 3rd party parts that Wai Auto Service has used for us (mufflers and pipes, parking brake lines, etc) have always worked well and lasted at least as long as expected.) We have taken them some tricky problems over the years, and each time they have diagnosed and fixed the problem fairly quickly. Once, when their first attempt to solve the problem failed, they only charged us for the parts, but did not charge us for the labour. Now English is not Bill Wai's first language, and from what I'm reading, if you come across as suspicious, he may react badly. (Not an excuse or justification, just a warning.) But I have found that by trusting him, he offers us good service at a great price. If he makes a little money selling discount parts compared to online distributors, I think that's fair, because he has to pay for those parts to be sent to him, and for his time (and the cost of running his business). No retail location can offer the same prices as online distributors! We quickly grew to trust Wai Auto Service, and they have never let us down so far!

I took my brothers 2011 Matrix in to Wai auto for a minor repair. The rear heat shield had come loose and was banging on the exhaust pipe. The local dealer had said that the shield would need to be replaced and possibly the gas tank strap (the shield is secured to the strap). I went to Wai auto to save some money on this repair, tying to avoid replacing any major parts. I had been here before for some oil changes and a brake pad replacement, but not for any mechanical repairs. I was satisfied with my previous visits, though unsure how much money this one would require. The repair turned out to be a simple one. An oversized washer and a new bolt were installed. The heat shield could still be used, it had just rusted around the bolt and come loose. The cost for this. None! That was something I had not expected. The time to make the repair was not long, still you would think there would be a charge. Gregory and Bill.....thank you. JP

I have a 2009 Dodge Caravan, always went to the dealer for service. On the last visit, they say the control arm bushings are bad, want $1200 to replace the components. I decided to ask somewhere else, maybe to get a lower price. Went to Wai Auto, it's a small garage I drive past all the time on my way to shop at Freshco. After looking at the control arms, Bill (the owner) said that there is nothing wrong with them. I still wasn't sure who to believe. Went to a different shop, was told the bushings are good. I always thought it would be the small shops that would try and scam you, not the dealers. Lesson learned. I now go to Wai for maintenance and service. If you have money falling out of your pockets, go to the dealer. If not, find yourself a good small shop.

I wish I had -5 this is the worst place I have been to and the owner is a real creepy cheap human. I have been there to check up my car issue while i was driving past it and it was making a sound in the rear. So the owner tried to sell me the used part for $80 and when I checked online the new part was $25 so when I showed it to him then he was ready to sell me for $30 then I decided not to buy from him then he asked me to get out of his store and he was talking about culture and other stuff. I highly recommend people not to go there as he is a very cheap person and will try to make money out of you.

I went to this place to fix a small problem in my car..but these guys can’t identify the problem and misguide me that I have to change my car’s brake pads which I just change few months ago…but I knew the problem was different but they didn’t try to understand…after that they asked for $60 but my problem in car was not even identify by these guys ..I went to different mechanic and they easy fix it…. .. very bad experience!!! I hope my review will saves someone hard earning money

Oil change went well, asked them to diagnose an issue with my horn, was told it would cost 60$ just to diagnose and i told them not to proceed. Next thing i see the mechanic in there with his test light checking the issue (for two minutes tops) and concluded that my horn needed to be replaced. They still charged me the 60$ even though I didn’t tell them to go ahead with it. Message to new owners: ** Please make sure you tell the customer CLEARLY how you run your shop!!!**

A friend who’s a car nerd recommended this place because he knew that they could be trusted to keep me safe, as I rely on my old car so much. They’ve helped me on short notice and in times of stress for prices that were far less than my old mechanic, and give me a forecast of what I might need going forward and it always checks out. I’m grateful to have found them. They are friendly and I’m so glad to give them my business - I can’t afford to be taken advantage of.

I agree with the positive reviews here. I've always had great experiences at Wai's Auto - he's quick, courteous and gets the job done quickly. I've always found he was forthcoming and transparent. I was recommended this shop from a local motorcycle dealer and haven't had to look anywhere else in 7 years. Prices have always been reasonable given that the shop is downtown Toronto. Great service, would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable shop downtown.

Ok, let me save anyone time. Avoid this place at all cost. I went there to get a safety for a new insurance company. They told me I needed new brake pads, new front shocks and new front struts. One problem. Under thier old ownership two years ago, I recieved new front shocks and brake pads. (I hardly use my car). I decided to try another shop. Surprise, nothing was wrong with my car. In fact, thier owner said please come by if you ever want to sell it.

My engine was shot. I didn’t know what to do or where to even begin. I found Ah Wai on google and I thank God for them. They are honest men of God. They saw me as a person and not just a money grab. They went above and beyond to accommodate my situation. They have hearts of gold. I will be going back and I definitely encourage anybody looking for a good mechanic to give them your trust, they will not disappoint. They are highly blessed and favoured.

Scammers. Failed my safety inspection saying I needed new rear brake pads. Yes he gave me half off price (60$) for the inspection but the following day I went to change my rear brake pads and they were 9.5mm which is literally brand new. Over the phone he then scrambled to say oh it’s the rotars as well even though the rotars measured to half an inch which is not brand new but is definitely up the safety standards. Stay away from these guys.

I had a clutch leak problem and he tried to sell me that my a whole transmission and clutch were gone. I drove it back home, how could that be ? One of the guys working there was clearly not a mechanic, very clumsy and doing even an oil level check wrong. Also he charged me $120+tax for a diagnosis that did not give any relevant information about the problem and that I didn’t ask for. Very dishonest place, recommend you don’t go there.

Worst service ever got from this workshop . I had some other problem with my car but these guys misguided me and changed other parts which is not related with that issue after spending around $565 still facing the same issue and also they overcharged me for rare brake lights cost . Very unprofessional guys . And try to loot to innocent people in hard time . ❌ STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS ❌

Battery in my 2015 Ford Escape died on me and I ended up buying one from Costco. The major garages (Canadian Tire, KalTire etc) wouldn't install a battery that wasn't bought from them. Ah Wai installed it for me within 30 minutes of arriving at their garage. Incredible service. Very reasonable pricing as well. Just an fyi, cash only for services under $250. Will definitely go back and can't recommend their service enough.

Last year I called in, asking how much it costs to put a tire on a rim and then on the car. The female receptionist quoted $80 which seemed reasonable. I brought in my vehicle and they changed it. The south asian mechanic asked for $200. When I told him what I was told on the phone, he said I was wrong. I remember feeling shafted in the experience but at the time I didn't use google reviews. Wai auto, ran buy a respectable and wild owner by the name of bill. Bill stands by his work and is very educated in almost all vehicle repair. He has changed a motor and a transmission on 2 seperate vehicles of mine and has also done regular maintenance on all of my family's fleet for the last 15 years. Stop insane know you're getting a great price and a reliable trustworthy service from Wai auto!

I came in they said they can change my off rim tires for me for $60 per tire. Already a pretty expensive price for it but I said sure. Then they called me after a few hours to let me know since the tires are low profile tires it'll cost $100 per tire for a total of $400. Let's be real there's no way that's a real price, you can go to a dealership and do it for under $200.

Went in for a safety check after shipping a car from Calgary to Toronto. Great service. They were very clear about what I needed to do to pass the safety check. There were a couple issue requiring remediation and the cost break down was transparent, the price was reasonable and the turn around time was quick. Would recommend.

Don’t ever go to this place , scammers. They lifted my car , and said they wouldn’t touch my car or do anything at all. Then He talked to his friend prior and then said he wants 40$ for doing nothing but lifting my car for NOTHING! Don’t ever go here if you want to be robbed for your money! Straight scam!

Way too expensive. Don’t go here If your not a millionaire. Brough my own winter tires without rims to be changed. He wanted to charge me $220. Thats just crazy. Normal prices is $80-$100. Would never recommend this place. I guess thats why mechanic next to them was booked for a week.

Strongly recommend this shop I had a car accident and it’s Audi Q5, everywhere I went they were asking for lots of money, but with this shop I could fix it with very reasonable price and I changed 4 tires and rooters and brakes as well. Thank you guys

I got a bad rear tire bearing. They quoted $500 price and while talking to him he came up with $600 price. I walked away and called another mechanic. He did it for me for $300 in less than one hour. Half the price. Good luck Ah Wai

The tire of my car was punctured by a nail. I forgot to bring the wheel lock to the shop, and Greg is proficient enough to fix it in a very short amount of time without taking off the wheel. I would highly recommend this shop.

There is 2 people running this shop now.. I trust the old Asian guy, I don't really trust the other guy, I feel like he sold me parts i didn't need.. I try to deal more with the Asian guy as much as possible. I trust him 100%

Wai auto saved me over $2,000 dollars. Came to them for a second opinion and they fixed my BMW right away, they saved me from another shop wanting me to get an unnecessary repair.

charged me $135 for an incomplete inspection, when I complained store owner locked my car inside and I had to call 911 to get an officer get engaged to free my car!
