These guys do not like older cars!!! Do not go here if your cars are built in the late 90's or earlier! I had used them a few times, for work on my oil and brakes; Did not end well either time! The few times I went there, I basically over paid to have them not to work on my car!!! I brought my car in to have them look at my breaks, they said well the brakes are okay, but you might need an oil change. They mumbled something about older cars are harder to fix, and they would have to send it to their other locations? So even though I heard a loud rubbing noise around my wheels. I took their word for it and opted to get the oil change. Even though the guys on the front desk, Mike and Craig, were friendly. I thought it was weird they told me my car would need to go to another location because it was implied it was old. My car is 1995 toyota and getting them to do a high mileage oil change was very difficult for them, I guess! They don't write down when you need another oil change they just write the date and mileage you come in with? So you can add 3000 miles to that amount and 4 months to that date.... Very strange. They apparently did a HIGH mileage Oil (well they charged me for) But with more than 500 miles, so around 2400 miles in to their oil change work. I was driving on busy I35 in Austin, and my car for the first time EVER started to smoke under the hood!!! I had to get an emergency oil change at Jiffy Lube and it was 15 dollars cheaper then at Auto Techs and had to replace things around the oil area! So they some how mucked up a oil change which they charged me full price for. I was livid and then I went to the closest mechanic shop happened to be a Pep boys! And asked about my brakes...They told my my brakes were down to the numb!!! I was like not even two months ago I asked these Auto Tech dudes to look they said they were okay? The Pep boys mechanic was like "can't you hear the noise?" I then took the car to another small auto mechanic shop near my apartment in Jollyville, and that mechanic said the same thing that the Breaks TOTALLY NEEDED To be Fixed! Auto Techs didn't want to work on my 'old' car what mechanics can't fix a toyota? So when I told AT i needed brakes done they actually quoted me on my brake work $780! I was floored what JERKS! Maybe because I'm a girl, who just moved here, most of the customers who I was in the waiting room were guys. I mean maybe they feel they are like a hair salon and charge women more money for the same services they provide male patrons! I was just floored that they screwed up that bad and I had to pay a ridiculous bill for extra parts needing to be fixed because these jerks didn't want to work on a older vehicle. Most the cars there were 2000+ year models so Just be weary if you have an older car and are a single female. I mean Pep boys and the Jiffy Lube were cheaper and my car is running good. Sad I usually like to be a patron of small businesses but these guys really mucked up 'working' on my car.

This is the second time I go to Auto Techs on Hamilton Rd. in Austin.. and they delivered a superior customer service once again! The gentlemen that helped me were Mike at the front desk and Jason - the mechanic who worked on my car. Mike made sure all my needs are catered to and that I stay within budget. He was patient with my requests and very accommodating. Jason took the time not only to explain what was wrong with my car but to educate me on the issue at hand as well as on other, not problem-related potential issues with the car. I totally appreciate the attention and the great customer service - something that I usually do not associate with car repair shops. I will be going there for more work in a few days, so let's see if my excellent impressions will remain. If no edits to this review then that has been the case. Update: I called today expecting the same great customer service as always. Felt rushed on the phone and almost as if I was intruding. It made me feel guilty for asking questions. I scheduled, front desk person hung up as soon as I said "thank you". I couldn't stomach being made to feel so unwelcome for bringing my business there. After I disengaged the call I dialed back and canceled my appointment. I don't think I will be returning there. The front desk person with the unwelcoming attitude was Mike. Five stars a year ago to two stars today. The only reason is the fact that in the past the experience was great.

Be careful with what they write down on their invoices vs what they tell you. When you get your invoices makes sure everything matches to what was discussed. I didn't double check and upon brining back my car for further inspection, they found more leaks. I was comfortable with coming back knowing the initial repairs were prelim/diagnostic. Had i know they would treat each leak separate and charge me for a leak not previously found, I would have asked more questions or taken the car to another shop. Even after speaking with one of the owner, he did not take accountability for missing a leak on the initial inspection. I checked the leak and its big enough that when i refilled the fluid it just leaks out to the concrete. I don't understand how a leak that big was missed the first time and they let me drive off with it stating it was fixed. But oh well lesson learned on my end. i gave them a 2/5 because up to this point i have been really happy with the service there. Allen and Mike(Mitch) are great at explaining everything and they honestly hold down the fort. Super friendly!

*I’ll preface this review by saying I don’t typically write reviews… unless I have an over-the-top great experience or an atrocious one.* In plain words, this business is a scam. I gave them a call and asked how much a serpentine belt change would cost if I already have the replacement belt. They quoted me $120 for labor. The next day I get a call saying that the idler-pulley also needs to be replaced. They said they wouldn’t charge anything additional for labor. An idler-pulley (part no: 89007) costs anywhere from $17-$25. They up-charged the idler-pulley for $120. (That is a 500% mark up) After telling Mike that I don’t have much money to spend on the vehicle, he stated he would take care of me. The blatant dishonesty and the way they treated a disabled veteran is disheartening at the least. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere to avoid highway robbery.

I don't do reviews unless it is a superlative experience - good or bad. In this case the experience was outstanding. Many reviews have said that these guys are honest and trustworthy, and they are most certainly that. But, the most valuable part of the experience is their willingness to get you the results you need. I came with several problems of which some were odd. They were honest when explaining what they knew and what the best options were. Also, they were forthright about what they DIDN'T know. That was refreshing. We discussed the possible approaches to resolving my issues and made a plan. Special thanks to Mike and Alex for staying late on a Friday to explain everything in detail. We've been here since we landed in Austin a couple of years ago. I was very lucky of being recommended to this place. They have been always super helpful with us for anything related to our car (even with buying a preowned car!). The staff is awesome, they are patient, super friendly and explain to you EVERYTHING and all the choices before doing any work! I never had problems to schedule an appointment, they were able to help me when I was in trouble even without appointment a couple of times! (or even more hehe) On my case work has been done always in time. And you can wait there in a well equipped and comfortable waiting room. So... definitely if you need a mechanic, worths to visit!! We really feel lucky of having found this place!

I have been using Auto Techs for quite some time for all of our family vehicles. They are always very up front with the repairs needed and there are no unnecessary costs. However, this week , they really amazed me! I was at work and had to drive to a meeting. When I tried to start my vehicle, nothing happened. I tried a jumper and still nothing. I called Auto Techs and they sent a tow truck out to pick up my vehicle. The tow truck picked up my vehicle at 2PM. Shortly after that I got a call from Auto Techs and they said I needed a new starter. Naturally, I felt like they probably would not finish the job until the next day. I was really surprised when they called me at 4:45 PM and told me the vehicle was ready. Job well done!!

I came here with a beaten up car after 2 horrible visits to the dealer. I needed a transmission fluid change and got done in about 1 hour-ish (which is exactly what they told me). They also inspected my car since I had the engine light on a few days ago. Overall was good. They found out there was a problem with my brake which the dealer couldnt find. I greatly appreciate that and will come back and have it fixed soon. My car function really well after the fluid change that cost me not even half of what the dealer might charge me. I was so happy and will definitely come back as well as recommend to anyone in Austin to have the car serviced here. Nice staffs. Excellent service. 5 star for the first time experience!!!

Auto techs was our family mechanic for 5 years. They were an outstanding resource in caring for our cars. They would always follow instructions or drop off notes. They would call me up and patiently explain what they found. They would answer my push back questions and help me decide what was urgent and what was optional or deferrable. One time after they opened up the vehicle they discovered other work that needed to be done, but didn't have the part on hand. Later, when I got this work done, they didn't charge me for the labor of opening up the vehicle again. This helped me feel confident I could trust auto techs not to take advantage of me. I'd highly recommend auto techs to be your family mechanic!

Brought my 2007 Mazda3 in to have some squeaky brakes checked. I expected to have to replace either pads or rotors. The mechanics at Auto Techs confirmed that my brakes were still in good condition and told me that the sounds were likely from brake dust. So instead of a few hundred dollars for new pads or rotors, I only needed to pay a small service fee. I'm no mechanic, so they could have told me anything and I would have paid what ever they asked. Instead, they were honest and professional, something that I've had a hard time finding when dealing with dealership auto shops. So from now on I'm bringing all of my car problems to Auto Techs and I suggest that everyone else does as well!

My kids and I have become loyal customers of the true professionals at Auto Tech over the past few years. They've worked on all of our cars/trucks and will continue to be our go-to shop for all of our auto needs. They are consistently fast and thorough as well as a pleasure to deal with. They've proven to us that we can be confident in them -- over and over. They stand behind their work - no questions asked. They give complete estimates up front -- which they stick to. Auto repairs are no fun ever but they are much less painful for us with Auto Tech. Highly recommend that you give them a try.

Unethical, dishonest business practices. Took 3 return visits to fix the issue. Each time they said they tested. They did not. I found a disconnected hose under the hood. Said they replaced parts they didn't. Quoted one price to fix a another problem they found while working on car, yet price was higher at checkout. A big shell game of pluses and minuses that didn't make sense. Charged us for gas to "test drive" car to check issue, which again, after 3 return visits wasn't fixed. I am shocked at the high ratings here. Our experience was lousy as we were grossly under-served and overcharged.

I have consistently received great service from Auto Techs. My family has been loyal customers since 2000. Hugh, Brian and their staff have always been honest, prompt, professional, and friendly. Today, they performed a state inspection on my vehicle and I only waited for 15 minutes in their comfortable waiting room. Other times, we have had our cars serviced here from oil changes to repairs, and even had my car towed to their garage. They are honest and honor their quotes. So happy to have a trustworthy auto mechanics shop so close to home who takes care of my whole family.

great quick service and Fair price. I live in South Austin but work in north, So I like to drop off my truck at Austin Auto Techs when I still need my truck to Commute, and they give me a ride (3 miles) to work... Got my A/C repaired here in 2015 then after winter It no longer worked, I waited till I had a little money for repairs (August 2016) and brought it in. One of the gaskets they replaced last year was leaking so they replaced it (and recharges the coolant) at no charge. What unexpected great customer service!!! I will recommend AAT to any one up in the area!!!

I came here to get a used car I was buying inspected. They were very flexible with scheduling an appointment; I called in the morning if I could come in at some point in that afternoon, and they said they can do anytime, as long as I called ahead 30 mins before I showed up. They worked reasonably quickly, and it was reasonably priced. They gave a great report, and even told me about something that I would not need to fix, but might be something a shop in the future would try to charge me to fix. Great experience, no trouble!

I have been a customer of Auto Techs for several years now. I switched over from taking my car to the dealership for servicing because I was so tired of being up-sold expensive parts and maintenance. This has never been the case at Auto Techs. They are very honest about the service that needs to be done, they make reasonable recommendations and replace only what needs replacing. I've driven in several times with blown out headlights and they didn't charge me for the labor. I really trust them.

Came here for the first time because I had a gift certificate and I would definitely recommend these guys! Getting an inspection was super easy. I called & made an appointment so they got me in right away. I had a break light out and they informed me and asked before they fixed it. I appreciate the courtesy and it was small price for convenience to not have to do it myself later! They had a cozy waiting room that was nice even though I didnt stay for long! Thank you!

I have been bringing my cars here for two years. My friends also all use this place. There have been several times that they saved us a lot of money by making a simple repair or cleaning on something that they could have charged a lot of money to replace. They are excellent communicators, straight forward about their appraisals of a situation, and trustworthy in their recommendations. I always feel like I'm talking to someone I know when they call me.

These guys are super nice, super accommodating, and very professional. I have come here a couple of times for different things and always recommend this auto shop to others. This is the most honest auto shop I have ever been to. They'll give you a heads up on things that they find with your car, explain the issue in detail, and leave the decision up to you. No pushy sales pitch. I don't take my car anywhere else, even if it just needs an oil change.

Took grandma's brown ford taurus wagon their sometime 2021 because it had issues.. the brake was spongy... $700+ dollars later came to pick up car and I said right away they didn't fix the issue they drove the car and proceeded to say the car is great... now jan 2022 my grandma rear ended a car stopped at a light because brakes had failed... I will not take any car here ever again and you should think twice before you do too...

A couple of years ago, I had trouble syncing my phone to the car bluetooth and stopped by Austin Auto Tech to get some help. A very courteous employee took care of the problem in short order. So, when it was time to get an oil change and inspection done, I decided to let them do it. The staff was very hospitable and service was detailed and prompt. They have a very nice waiting area and the charges were very reasonable.

These guys are good. They’re fair, fast and, most importantly, really expert at what they do. This outfit is close to the old-fashioned neighborhood garage where your dad took his car as opposed to the cookie-cutter, big box mega places where the first option is remove and replace instead of fixing it right at the right price. They’ll get to know you and know your car. You can’t beat that sort of service.

I bring my car here when I want it fixed correctly. The mechanics are trustworthy. They are willing to explain how and why they did what they did. I usually communicate with Mike and Craig, and they are both very professional. Oil changes are usually a little high in price compared to other places around, but these guys will actually take care of your car. Superior customer service. Reliable fixes.

They are fast, responsive and courteous. I changed my battery there in January, but I had some problem with my car this month, and I had to change it according to an advise from Toyota. Even though The Auto Techs couldn't find problem with the battery, they respected the warranty and changed it without hesitation. They also have a comfortable waiting room with complimentary soda wifi, and TV.

I've been a customer for nearly 7 years. I can trust this group to give honest information and make repairs correctly, or make them right. Just got my front brakes and control arms replaced. When my car died, they let me know that it was the best option to just let it go instead of dragging things out, and even offered to give a mechanic's opinion any future car I considered buying!

Experience with car inspection was nice and easy. You book an appointment (over phone) prior, and they were ready at the appointment time and took about 10 minutes, so it was a great experience overall. Most places I've done inspections at do not take appointments and you end up with variable wait times, which can be frustrating.

Brand new to the city and I could not be more than satisfied with the great customer service we received. Needed a state inspection and we were told we needed and appointment. Instead of them sending us elsewhere they booked us for an appointment within minutes. The process was so quick and price was great!! Highly recommended.

I have been using Auto Techs for the last two years and have been satisfied with their service. I did have an issue in summer but when I notified them Auto Techs acted quickly to resolve it. As we all know it is difficult to find a reliable, trustworthy and reasonably priced auto repair facility, but this is definitely one!

Cheap, fast, effective. I came in to get an inspection and get a tire patched up. I gave them my things, sat in their back room with Maury on the TV, put headphones in because I'm not that kind of guy, and 30minutes later they called me up and everything was done. The time flew by as fast as that sentence ran on.

My car had rusted brakes and they saved the calipers and identified worn shocks in the rear. The tech took me back and showed me the problems so I felt I could trust these guys. They're probably not the cheapest but I think they're reasonable and I don't think they'll try to sell you repairs you don't need.

Went in at 7am, gentleman at the desk kindly said they normally set appointments but took a look to see if there was an opening. Did paperwork that took 1 min and they took my jeep in immediately and I only waited for about 15 min or less. Very friendly, very fast. I'll be visiting for the next inspection.

I anticipated having to replace the battery in my Prius. Instead, when Auto Techs discovered there was apparently more life in the current battery, they charged it fully and sent me on my way with NO FEE. I went there for state inspection. great price and great staff. State Inspection was done in 10 min. --- I went there after a year. did the state inspection. got 10% discount for being loyal customer. it was very quick process (less than 10 min).

When you find a good repair shop my recommendation is stick to it. They are always fair in price with good service technicians. I’ve been using this shop since about 2014 when it was recommended by my neighbor.
