Bam Bam's is a lovely italian restaurant in Avonsleigh in the hills. It has great seating capacity and caters for all types of occasions. There are seperate areas where a celebration can be catered for and it is a great place to bring the kids. The food is excellent and their Gelato/icecream is amazing. You can eat-in or they have a separate takeaway section if you prefer. Their pizzas are awesome and their service excellent. Ever friendly and helpful, Bam Bam's is a little slice of Italy in the hills.

There are a couple of spots out the front for takeaway pick up, and parking is available around the back. It can get very busy here though, especially in Summer, as there is a mini food store attached to the restaurant. It is only a small area next to a very busy road but there is no parking on the main road, but you can park just next to these shops in a side road too.

This place was excellent and difficult to fault: the food was fantastic and so tasty, the team are great and welcoming, the venue is spotless and clean from head to toe, I could not fault this place at all. If I had to be pedantic the only thing I could comment on was the door handle to the children's play area was too low so my two year old could easily run in and out between the restaurant and secure play area...but the owners didn't design the door so not their fault. The chairs....the back of my belt kept getting stuck when I sat back and tried to lean forward but then again the owners didn't design the chairs so not their fault. But the food....was brilliant even the simple pizzas had so much flavour! I had to order the rocket salad twice because it was so tasty...and simple things like the chips were perfect! The spinach and ricotta ravioli was the most gratifying dish I have had in such a long time (three years of I were to be exact!) This place is great for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters and the range of mocktails available are just right! I don't eat meat or drink alcohol on certain days but will definitely make the effort for the meat dishes and alcoholic beverages when I get the chance! Please remember this place is part of the Victorian 25% dining out scheme Monday to Thursday. I strongly encourage people to pay this place a visit.

Amazing.. we love the place but the stand out visit was last year after lock down. Everyone everywhere was struggling with staff, supply, general happiness but these absolute angels nurtured me that day. Buzzed them at 7:30 after a disaster day for both of us at work, kids hadn’t had dinner, said if we make it by 8 can we still grab a seat “absolutely we’re open late!” She said.. got there and my fried brain realised I’d just taken 2 geed up kids to a restaurant with a playground that closes at night so as not to tick off the neighbours.. ‍♀️ “Can you promise to be quiet if I let you in? If you can’t I’ll have to kick you out of my restaurant” angel #2 said to the kids reading my face of doom as I remembered.. “yes” they whispered and order was restored.. my partner and I got to sit side by side, reconnect, have a wine enjoy the insane food.. some colour ins helped the boys get through their monster serves of pizza and pasta and the place is so full of magic even though they were “full” they some how had space for gelato desserts.. the angels uncanny abilities to know exactly what we needed exactly when we needed it during a dark time I will forever treasure.. #bambamfansforlife

We had our staff Christmas party at Bam Bams yesterday. The food was INCREDIBLE. I have never been to an Italian resturant with such incredible vegan options as well as a seperate garlic and onion free menu. They take dietary requirements so seriously which is so refreshing. We tried the vegan truffle mushroom pizza, INCREDIBLE, the green goddess pasta INCREDIBLE, vegan loaded potatoes INCREDIBLE + more. They also had a great range of organic soft drinks which is soo nicer the staff were incredibly accomodating and helpful and we had an overall great experience. Will definitely be back.

My family and I have been looking forward to trying Bam Bam Italian for months after seeing a few posts through Instagram and noticing the playground as well as the separate vegan menu (in our group of six we have two vegans, a vegetarian, and someone who is lactose intolerant, so we are pretty annoying diners). It was a bit of a drive for us (almost an hour), but after finally visiting last night, I can say that it was worth the drive and that we will definitely be back! The restaurant is lovely and much larger than it looks on the outside, and we were lucky to have a private room right next to the playground. The food was fresh and excellent quality (as was the coffee), and in particular, I loved the chocolate hazelnut torta which I am still thinking about today! The staff were also lovely and genuine - they asked at the beginning of the meal if we had any dietary requirements and were very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Thank you so much to Bam Bam for a lovely dinner and we can't wait to return!

Our first time dining at BamBam and we were really impressed. It was very spacious and they have thoughtfully placed tables for more intimate/ quiet patrons at the front, with tables at the rear better suited for families with younger children who could take advantage of the playground with tables very close by, separated by glass. The menu was outstanding and again, you could see the deliberate thought into accommodating everyone’s dietary needs with menus suitable for vegans as well as menus for those looking for something FODMAP (no garlic or onion). Meat lovers were not disappointed - literally something for everyone and not dishes which will leave you feeling like an after thought with a token vegetarian dish etc. We loved the ambience, the vibe, excellent and attentive wait staff, immaculate bathrooms and the effort they’ve put into making this such a hospitable place. We will absolutely be back for seconds.

Traditional Napoli pizza at it's finest. It's more expensive than most and quite minimalist but the flavour is amazing and the blend of ingredients perfect. The crust is thin and perfectly done. The toppings are fresh and high quality.

Came with high expectations as my friend had talked it up and it was also very busy, but sadly I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but the Rigatoni Bolognaise was really disappointing. We also ordered the Pumpkin pizza and later wished we'd gotten the pepperoni as the base was nice, but didn't really enjoy the pizza... but to finish on a really good note, the Brussel Sproat Salad was actually delicious, with a great mix of flavours and the Gin Limoncello Cocktail was also delicious... could easily have had a few more! So all in all a mixed experience for us... but I'd come back to try some other items... I probably just ordered the wrong things this time round!

What a cool place! We loved how the restaurant caters for everyone with their seating arrangement. If you've got kids... great! Just grab a seat out the back near the enclosed playground and you can still enjoy a fine dining experience. If you love Italian food, then make the effort to drive up the hills to enjoy a good bite to eat. The menu is not overloaded with options (except their pizza range is extensive) which means the mains etc they dish up are delicious and lots of love goes into them. We had the spicy pan fried calamari... unbelievable! We also enjoyed the pork sausage and fennel pizza... also amazing. The final aspect of dining you want is customer service... well not an ounce of pretension which meant every interaction with staff was pleasant and enjoyable.

Such a special place. I know loads of people who will come up for a day out in the beautiful hills and to eat at Bam Bam, but I am lucky to be local so I take full advantage of their great delivery service via their Grub Club website and I get awesome restaurant food delivered to my door each Friday... How lucky is that!? After a busy day the last thing I want to do is cook - so they do it all for me!! I feel truly blessed to have this service - I'm living like a King!! Thanks crew this is life-changing particularly for me as I'm disabled and EVERYTHING is hard - so any help is greatly appreciated - particularly so I feel as I'm not missing out on the best life has to offer! 100 stars

Excellent local Italian restaurant typically serving traditional style dishes. The food is generally excellent and often outstanding, especially when eating in, as is the service and atmosphere... You won't find a more friendly team at any restaurant in the hills. Lots of great options on the menu, and they change it up seasonally. My only complaint is to do with take away pizzas... they almost always forget extras (which aren't cheap mind you), the quality varies a lot (sometimes very dry, sometimes a bit soggy, but often exceptional) and they are expensive. It would be good to see better consistency for the price, but we'll keep ordering nonetheless. Their good days always make up for the bad :)

Delightful Father's Day lunch for seven. The young children loved being able to get out to the fully enclosed climbing playground. The adults enjoyed the ability to close off our room from the noise of the venue while knowing our youngsters would not bother anyone, ensuring a relaxed family friendly afternoon. Top marks though to the three waitresses who looked after us at various times, so nice to have staff who actually express their personality and managed the children, and our food needs, so expertly. Delicious food rounded off a great day. Some of our party had been there before and I see why they were happy to return

Visited 3 times now. Absolutely delicious pizza, excellent hot chocolate with house made marshmallow. Star dessert is the cannoli with burnt orange. Generous sides. An OK selection of meaty mains although a little heavy handed on the richness and spicing of some, especially the beef cheek. Not cheap but high quality ingredients. Caters well for vegetarian options and very well for and gluten free. Decent and attentive service. The unusual layout with separate areas nicely handle everyone from small to large groups and families with young kids (there's a playground!), while still providing an intimate setting for couples. Nothing else quite like it in the area. Recommended !!

Writing this review to commend Bam Bam on their impeccable customer service. We ordered a large "restaurant at home" takeaway order on arguably one of the busiest nights for hospitality this year: opening up after lockdown. A mistake was made with our order, and the team went above and beyond to remedy this, even sending someone to personally deliver our replacement 35 minutes drive away. We were absolutely blown away with the incredible generosity and effort that they went to, it's difficult to find that level of customer service these days. We will be back eating in ASAP and we thank the team for their consistent quality service and food!

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is the perfect blend of classy and cozy. Great variety of foods and wines, with some local gourmet foods, wines and desserts on offer at the take-away entrance. The pizzas were fresh, hot and incredibly tasty (we ordered gluten-free and dairy-free, and the pizza base and vegan cheese were far superior to the offerings of other restaurants or pizzerias). Remember to book ahead if you want to dine-in though, as I tried to book a table at 4.30pm for the 5pm open and was told they were fully booked until 7.30pm (now I've seen the place, I understand why they were booked out). 5 stars!

Despite the food being good, we had a pretty average experience. There were six of us, and we ordered quite a lot, but not all of the food came out. Towards the end of lunch, we realised and told the server what parts of the order hadn't come, and said we didn't need it anyway. A short while later, she brought out the remaining food (which had clearly only just been made). At this point, lunch was finished, and we'd already said we didn't want it. That is quite poor service, especially as it was clear we were otherwise very happy with things. I'd probably come back, but not in a hurry.

BAM BAM Italian provides great tasting pizzas, if you’re into fancy flat bread pizzas. If you like a pizza from a typical pizza shop, this isn’t the place for you. I haven’t tried the pastas but have dined in at BAM BAMs with people who have said they are great. I will definitely be trying a pasta dish soon. Table service was good but sometimes you had to grab the waiter / waitresses attention to get additional service. Restaurant meal prices are on the more expensive side to others but places need to make money after the Covid lockdowns.

A wonderful local restaurant that thought about the needs of diners in its design. we recently dined at bam bam that left me with mixed feelings. The pizza itself was, regrettably, a disappointment, but the service and management was great. I ordered two of their pizza on the menu, the crust was doughy and undercooked, the ingredient on the pizza didnt feel great either. ( see photo ) Management were attentive to our feedback and offered to remake or write it off the bill, which we refused as we were halfway our lunch. Sadly we would not recommend.

Absolutely amazing. This restaurant is a favourite of my partner and I. Last night food was delish as usual and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We were compensated for a small wait on their busy Saturday with a free starter that they made sure was a gluten free option for me as I has previously told them I am coeliac. Absolutely delicious again! Not to mention their gluten free bases are far superior to any others I've tried in my 15 years of being coeliac! And I love their focus on supporting local food producers. Thanks again Bam Bam for a great meal:-)

I ordered the buffalo margarita pizza and the ragu pasta, I must say the pizza was something else, super delicious. The staff here are beyond friendly and accommodating. The sticky date pudding, which is only for take aways, was one of the best I've had in my life. The portion was really generous, it was moist, well flavored and that toffee sauce was exceptional I can't wait to buy more.

Nice Italian restaurant near emerald lake park, just 5 mins down the road, the place offer great pizza and very authentic Italian food, if you like sea food, you must try their spicy calamari dish, it’s really delicious btw, the stuff are very friendly and professional. We’ve being a few times already, all our friends and family had great experience there, if you are having a day out at the park, you should really give this place a try, they also got parkings at the back.

Waitresses/waiters were amazing, kind and very attentive! The meals came out quickly, and they tasted absolutely delicious. Great food and great pizza not all here is perfect but highly recommended to try great staff good wine and beer huge play centre for kids well hidden around the back where there are hidden booths and more seating , two largish private rooms seats 12? One weakness is lack of pasta choices being Italian and the Putanessca wasnt stupendous nor disasterous...deserts look good too....i still like this place and it is busy please book. PS they have a small shop sells gourmet products & good pasta

Our family has been eating at BamBams for 5+years, we went there for dinner last night. All 15 of us walked out due to being informed that they could not cater to dietary requirements of some our quests due to not giving the restaurant advance notice. We have never been advised of this previously, we tried to communicate this with the staff. I found them to somewhat confused themselves, combative and rude. They actually laughed at us :-( Won't be back.

I went to Bam Bams for a meeting in one of the small separate rooms it has, but also had a meal there. Service was friendly sms efficient, and considering we were having a meeting also suitably discrete. Being an Italian based restaurant and myself a pizza fiend I had to have the pepperoni pizza with chilli. No dried chilli flakes here, fresh chillies. Nice. And with a nice authentic crisp base.

Very impressed with the vegan food here. The pizzas, pasta and eggplant entree were divine. Food came out at acceptable times and all the staff were attentive, informative and very friendly. The outdoor seating is lovely and the seating in general is spacious. There is even a playground for children. The only thing I did not like was that the pizzas were just a tiny bit too oily for my liking but no other complaints. We were even able to take away our leftovers.

BAM BAM Italian is one of our top three favourite restaurants. The food quality they provide is absolutely incredible, every bite packs a massive amount of flavour. The staff are so friendly and very accommodating. And can I say the truffle mushroom pizza (even on a gluten free base)….. I would travel back to them from all over for that pizza! This place is exactly what inner city people imagine a regional restaurant is like, full of charm, wholesome food and family friendly ambience. And you have to say ambience with a pretentious accent. The food was incredible, the wine was lovely, the staff were friendly, made excellent jokes and were just generally champions. I can't promise I'll be back often but I can promise that when I come through this way I'll be eating here.

Went to Bam Bams with my family. The pizza was pretty ordinary to be honest. However the pasta was fresh. The playground was nice for our 3 year old. 4 meals , 2 kids meals and drinks. $240 … The service was professional and the waitress was lovely. Just a bit of the expensive side with no wow factor.

Had a family booking here yesterday for lunch. 5 adults and 3 kids. Really excellent service from the moment we walked it. Really didn't have to ask for anything, was all sorted for us. My family eats here fairly often, and have always been a big fan. This weekend though we were celebrating, and couldn't help but notice how fantastic the service here was. We absolutely love the food from Bam Bam! Everything we have ordered has been delicious from the cabbage slaw to the grilled & fried calamari to their pizzas! I’m not a huge fan of pasta but I love the way Bam Bam always has one dish which is about half pasta half incredible veg! Currently this is the green goddess pasta and it’s so delicious! Highly recommend this Italian gem in the hills :)

Immediately made our way to the scene of the crime only to find ourselves blown away by the sheer miracle of god that is….The pizza at Bam Bams. The fallout left in my mouth after tasting these delightful little explosive bundles of flavour. Has left me scorched and remembering the experience for days to come

Enjoyed their beef and pork lasagna (special) and their roasted eggplant pizza. Cider on tap was also delish. Complimentary bread and oil was perfect texture and very tasty. Service was fast. Had plenty of time to walk back to Puffing Billy to make the 3.55pm train to Belgrave.

We visited Bam Bam last night with a group of 6. We decided to order the Feed Me menu and went with the chefs choice. The array of dishes that came out were varied and delicious! A fantastic showcase of what the restaurant has to offer. The staff were amazing, super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks list. Couldn't have asked for a better all round experience.

Great Restaurant. Our group of 5 arrived without a booking and was accommodated quickly by the friendly staff. A great selection of vegetarian options was appreciated by several of our party. The restaurant is larger than it first appears and has a children's play area or the back that was also being well used by families with children.

Been wanting to try this restaurant for ages, and was not disappointed! Delicious food, great drink list, and amazing service from the delightful Brooke! She should market her skills, attitude, and friendliness.... first class customer service. Overall, a delightful experience.

Enjoyed lunch in a cozy private room for my sisters birthday. Perfect size for 9-10 people. Good casual vibe, friendly staff and covered play area for the kids (3-12 yo). Food was great, but some mains a little pricey given sides were extra. Pizzas are best value, would feed two people! Note: extra parking at rear of property.

The place has a nice vibe and the staff and service was amazing. The only downfall I think, is the small size of the meals for what you pay. I left still feeling as hungry as I was when I came in.

Haven't been back here since opening years ago. Advertised Thursday lasagne night so decided to try. Unfortunately chef who makes lasagne had been sick all week so no lasagne. Had the garlic prawn pasta and it was delicious. Will definitely be back.

Great food, amazing Customer service. A friend has a medical issue which prevents her from eating Solids. As there was no soup on the menu, the chef went out of his way to provide a dish which she could eat, plus added extra to boost the flavour. Highly recommended and thank you to the wonderful Staff.

So lucky to have a restaurant like this in the hills! The pizza are simply the best! The service is on point! Love the vibe!

Traditional Italian. Great kids menu. Shoestring fries, good range of beers and a good list of gluten free. Unfortunately not all coeliac friendly at the moment because they share a fryer however were very happy to take the feedback to separate. We had a nice family meal and would go again.

Disappointed to come into a near empty restaurant, shortly after 5pm opening time and be seated uncomfortably close to another table of two, instead of at one of the many vacant tables at 5 pm. Other than that, the food is reasonable and the indoor playground is terrific for young families

Seriously the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. Visited for a family birthday dinner and had booked the private dining room. This was lovely and intimate. The food was delicious and well flavoured with very generous servings.

Really delicious food! I have special diet requirements and could find multiple options that were suitable on the menu (including dessert options) which was very exciting. I love the atmosphere and all staff were really friendly. Pricing was great. We will definitely be back!

I've been here 3 times now and it has been a fantastic experience every time. Great food, quick service and since the sound panelling went on the roof, good atmosphere too.

Ate here with my partner. She has very challenging dietary requirements but the team made her feel validated, welcome and most importantly normal. The wine was fantastic (sangiovese) and the meals were delicious. Plus Tara our server was a superstar. 10 out of 10!

Fantastic food and great service. We were two families with young kids. The kids loved the playground. We were booked in for a private room with direct access to the playground, which made it so much easier to care for the kids. Highly recommended.

The food is pretty good but prices are pretty steep for what you get. I find the prices are like fine dining prices but the atmosphere is more of a brunch type cafe.
