Bede Park is a great place to relax and enjoy the calm and green atmosphere. Located near De Montfort University, it provides a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you're a student at the university or just looking for a park to spend time in, Bede Park is definitely worth a visit. One of the standout features of Bede Park is its well-maintained lawns and gardens, which are beautifully landscaped and provide a great place to relax on a sunny day. There are also plenty of trees and bushes, providing plenty of shade and helping to create a serene atmosphere. The park also has a number of amenities that make it a great place to spend time. There are benches and picnic tables, providing a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a snack or meal. In addition, there are several footpaths and walking trails, making it a great place to go for a walk or a run. Another great feature of Bede Park is its close proximity to De Montfort University. This makes it a convenient place for students to study, relax, or simply enjoy some fresh air. Overall, Bede Park is a fantastic park that is well worth visiting if you're in the area. With its beautiful scenery, well-maintained grounds, and convenient location, it's a great place to escape the stress of city life and enjoy some peace and tranquility.
Located very near to town, even closer to DeMontfort university and in even closer proximity to the Grand Union Canal, this little park sits at the intersection of various paths. It is a convenient place to stop for a break and a drink in fine weather. It doesn't offer much protection from the elements, but there are several pubs and eateries in close walking distance. There's a small but quite well equipped children's playground that appears to be well populated in the summer time, when there are often groups (usually friendly ones) of locals and students playing sports, listening to music, having a party, or a combination thereof. Had some very fun times here. Nothing spectacular but of sentimental value, hence four stars, as well as simply being a nice place to sit. Highly recommended.
I love Bede park, it's a really nice place in the summer and I take my guinea pig in a little crate to eat the grass there when I have the time. Really bouncy place, popular with students and families. One of the play areas is cordoned off at the moment, but the one for small children is still going strong. Really mixed bag of people (both for better and worse), and not a great place to walk through alone at night (though where is in the city?), so be careful. Not a ton to do, but a nice place to relax and let the kids run around if you have any, and there are some pretty convenient places to eat and buy food nearby.
The kids play area is good, location aswell-ish as it clashes with many different types of people and ages. There is also an important problem for me which is, that in a sunny warm day you will be with your kids at the play area and at only few meters you will have loads of young and no so young adults drinking and smoking ilegall stuff. You can't miss it really, as the smell freely wonders around the whole place. Also, youngsters don't mind their language or the way they behave when there are kids around. So it is great if you go there when there are no adults on the green grass area.
Nice big slide and wooden attraction castle. It's higher than two story building, but made very safe for small kids as well. I used to take the little one in my lap when we went down the big slide pipe as she was scared to doit alone. Swings, 'telephone' and other attractions for younger children as well. Low fence separates two play zones for young children and for teenagers. Also a big grass field good for any ball games, capoueira etc.
Amazing park, never too busy, probably the best outdoor gym in leicestershire and a parkour bit as well, the childrens park has a huge slide that I am sure would make any child happy, there are many shops all around if you fancy an Ice cream or a pizza and anything in between. 5 starts because of the atmosphere, I am always in the gym side and people are soo friendly!!
Gets packed a lot with students and picnickers who tend to leave trash everywhere. A hangout for local drunks at times. But when not in use for this or Pokemon Go, it has dog owners with dogs. Dogs are amazing. And sometimes an ice cream van parks near the estate there so there's that. It's nice enough to walk through in the morning when it's relatively quiet.
Probably best to visit in the spring or summer so the kids and dogs can run around. There is an outside gym and BBQ area, and close to a couple of shops.
Playground
Fair size playground with high covered slide.
Dog-friendliness
Dog bins provided
Picnic area
Great picnic area and plenty of seating plus there is a designated BBQ area.
A nice park during the day but it's been long ignored by the police and probably best to avoid during the evening, which is unfortunate but there have been a number of stabbings over the last few years. Sort of a permanent smell of cheap lager and weed, which might not be ideal to take your kids to but the smokers/drinkers aren't causing much harm!
Riverside festival today...wow what a fantastic turn out. All for free. What's not to love. Bands, puppetry, stalls, educational stalls, activities. Then the street food....so much to choose from. The sunshine certainly brought people out in there thousands. Oh and I nearly forgot, narrow boats, and lots of fun messing about on the river.
Small park but neatly maintained. 3 or 4 slides of various sizes available for different age groups. Beware. Might get slippery when wet. Better be with kids when they climb to avoid getting hurt.
Playground
Considerable place to play around. Also accompanied by a bigger ground where football and other sports are coached.
Standard open space the city works very hard to keep it clean, going through early in the morning you will see workers clearing bbq stuff away and broken glass. Would not recommend going trough the park alone after dark as the park attracts 'unsavoury' character would recommend during mid morning to early afternoon.
Great place for calisthenics work out but always crowded with people having drinks and smoking all around the place
Playground
While it’s not designed for small children they love it
Dog-friendliness
There is field next to it and plenty of bins.
Picnic area
There is bbq place right next to it
Nice little area especially when the canal festival is on loads to do like face painting and live bands, nice little park during the day and recently they have had a new gym area fitted, would stay clear at night as large groups of people drinking on the outskirts, fantastic area for playing Pokemon go though :)
New walk museum had always been a great place to visit. The Egyptian section is a must as is the dinosaur n animal section.. They always have exhibitions on too, the latest being punk era UK.
Restrooms
Toilets on ground floor
Picnic area
Seating outside and close by on grass or benches
Nice park which includes everything what you can need. There is playground do kids, designated BBQ area, street workout park, parkour park and also those fitness machines. It's nice place for a walk, jogging, training or just for spending some good time with your friends around a grill :-)
Nice play area with huge wooden structure - suitable for 4+. The play area for littles is smaller, but adequate with a few swings and a small slide structure. The rest of the park itself is fairly drab, and some of the paths are a bit shady with some shady characters around.
Good park with outdoor gym. Will be even better when the local council gets round to finishing the big slide play area. It's been nearly a year since work started. I'm sure if this was an area where the majority have mortgages, this park would have been completed by now!
Decent park that gets very busy with many people of all ages. Great for bbqs and listening to music as many people take speakers .. If you want to chill with friends and have great vybes its the park to go... a few close shops near by which are easy accessible.
I went jogging around bede park for 30 mins which i enjoyed. The park was quiet with a few people which made it easy to jog around the park. Considering the gyms are closed also the gym on the park was closed as well, that didn't put me off doing what i in joy..
This is practically the same review and did the last summer. It should be a familiar place and it is not, it is full of drunk people, loud music and many times there are fights. It is not a safe place. Many children alone without the attention of an adult.
There were loads of stalls at the fair. I got to explore a lot and snap a few nature shots. I managed to buy some gifts and a small amount of food. The stall owners I met were very friendly and I loved being at this event. I would highly recommend.
Nice park but small not that big, recommended for relaxing but not long stay as the trees are covering only the outer area of the park, no trees at the middle area of the park … no shadow so it is not really suitable for spend nice time in summer
We were here for the riverside festival and had a great time.
Playground
Kids loved it, as it had an awesome slide (their words not mine) not like normal slides
Picnic area
Even with a festival on there was still plenty of space
very sturdy playground. not just the giant slides, also the swings, also some very cool voices traveling instruments, spring platforms etc etc. also a 0.3mile jogging track as the perimeter. nearby tesco express, dominos, news agent.
Great playground area for children, nice big slide for the bigger kids to enjoy. The outdoor gym equipment is great, also marked running track around the small park is a good touch for those who are keeping track of distances.
Nice outdoor gym and grill area. Children play area is good and there is plenty of room to play on nicely trimmed grass.
Playground
Big slide is the best in city.
Picnic area
Grill is allowed.
Dangerous at night but has a good play section for kids and an outdoor gym. Could use facilities like a food stand or bathroom. Has a running track and is close to takeaways and a tesco.
full of crack heads, they are funny sometimes, they talk a lot of nonsense to the point where you start to think of some good memories. but be careful, they can be little more crazy
Missing the big bar. Tesco X2 can suck one. Clean enough. Ain't heard a meow but the signs are appreciated like the sausage on my inner child's head. Cheers for the gym.
My Grandchildren love it here the BIG slide is always on the to do list when they come to visit. Also its close to The Castle Gardens and town. …
The grass is thin and dry and there is so much littering; but it's the one and only park in the area, so better this than none.
Has a play area for kids, outside gym equipment and large green area for play and ball games along with benches around the park
Nice area for relaxing. Shame not all dog owners pick up there mess so be careful where you stand ♂️♂️ …
Riverside festival was awesome otherwise I would avoid this park with the power drinkers and tokers at the back of it.
It's a Very Good.... Must Visit with your kids.
Picnic area
You can enjoy outside weather... Feel Better ☺️
It's a very beautiful and nice green park and there is a big play area for kids. It also has a gym. Good place
Great place to take young children. Park for an hour around Briton Street and walk across the river bridge.
Pleasant park and green space to relax in. There is a nice play area with a tall slide too.
Kids love the giant slide, it's pretty fast! Nice little spot by town to chill for a bit.
The playground is the best part about this park except drunks and drug dealers at night
Such a peaceful place. I enjoyed Indian holi festival over there with my classmates.
I loved the park and it's atmosphere. And the kids park was also adorable.
Nice open park in heart of Leicester. Play area and large slides for kids
Riverside festival, great day out. Fun things to try. Good music.
Amazing and serene environment for relation and reflection.
Lovely place to be with family. My children love to go here
Had a great time at the festival, MORE please …
Nice open space with a playground for the kids
Great playground for kids
