A solid 3.5 stars rounded up I would say. Staff were absolute gems, service was wonderful but up until the end when we were ordering desserts and waiting for the Cheque, we were a bit forgotten. Food wise, wouldn’t say it was anything amazing, I loved the scallops, but the beef carpaccio was very lacking, the calamari rings were rather standard, oysters were fresh, but the oyster was rather tough and over cooked, my friend described it as tasting like chewy chicken. We got 3 entree sized pastas on top, I loved the gnocchi, it was honestly to die for and it was such a redeeming dish. The rabbit pasta (special) was a bit too Al dente for my liking but the rabbit was delicious, same goes for the duck risotto, was not a fan of the cook on it but that’s probably down to personal preference. Mains we had a lovely rib eye, already pre plated and split for sharing which was wonderful eye for detail from the chef. Thank you! The veal on the other hand was tender but oh so under seasoned. The salt and pepper shakers were very well utilized with both the veal and the mashed potato. We ended up adding a salad to offer some acidity because it was a HEAVY meal, lots of carbs, lots of protein, but the salad was sufficient to cut through a bit. We got the tiramisu and chocolate pudding at the end to share between 4, it was sufficient, tiramisu was very normal, loved the softness though. But the detail on the chocolate pudding was second to none, the chocolate covered popping rock candies were a delight and and melt in your mouth hot chocolate pudding paired with vanilla ice cream is never a combo you can go wrong with. Overall, for the price point I was expecting a fair bit more as Cecconis isn’t a cheap restaurant. It’s a nice dinner out but expectations weren’t entirely met I’d say.

Spacious New York style basement restaurant with slick decor, an open kitchen and a huge cellar bar. The restaurant gives off an elegant, romantic and intimate vibe. The wait staff were charming and knowledgeable about the food and wine, and the service throughout the night was outstanding. Featured dishes (✨ - highlights) Starters - Freshly shucked oysters [MP] - very fresh, a must ✨ - Seared scallops [$32] - plump scallops! I loved!! ✨ - Roasted Fremantle octopus [$32] - well-cooked octopus w/ cute little potato pieces, a good starter Pasta - Potato gnocchi [$44] - my favourite dish of the night! Good texture and flavour! A must order ✨ - Seafood Linguine [$50] - good seafood-to-pasta ratio but overall, a little underwhelming Mains & sides - Veal cotoletta [$60] - a huge serving, great for sharing between a group, but probably too much for one. The green apple salad balanced and complimented the cotoletta very well - Black Angus Scotch Fillet [$90] - tender with a nice crust, yum!! ✨ - Mashed potato [$15] - Broccolini [$17] Overall, a very delicious dinner with many drinks! We were super full by the end of the meal, so we skipped dessert and finished the night with some Heradura Anejo tequila shots and orange slices - yum! beautiful ambience in this popular and long-standing ny style italian restaurant in the heart of melb. friendly service by most staff, however with some being dismissive, understandable on such a busy night. our main waitress, extremely attentive and friendly, informing us of all specials and answering all our questions, as well as often topping up water/cutlery etc. as for the food - we dined in a large group so were able to try a huge range of the menu. one of those places were mains are just as good as entrees. the scallops were an all-round crowd pleaser, with lots of flavour and textures, as well as the special prawn-stuffed zuchinni flowers. mains all hit the spot, as well as drinks. while there was a longer-sided wait on food, this wasn't a problem with the lively atmosphere (huge open kitchen!) and good company. some of the best food i have has in melbourne to be honest. fancy but tasty and generous.

Simply magnificent. The dishes were done with great execution. This restaurant has such an introvert exterior, but as you walk in, it’s a bustling upscale scene where everyone seems to be having a good time. I was escorted to a table tucked in the private area in the corner of the restaurant. The waiter who served us was extra chatty and he really upsold us everything! As the food came, everything was done in perfect manner. My personal favorites has to be the duck and the “VIP” wagyu steak. That crispiness of the duck skin is truly salivating. What’s funny is that as we were finishing dinner, my friend told me that Tyson Fury (the famous British boxer) were at the restaurant one week before us. If Tyson Fury eats here, you know this place is gonna be good. I, Prince L, will definitely come back again 10/10.

Honestly the service here is terrible, now I did notice how other tables around us got served promptly and attentively, yet we were forgotten about, waiters looking directly at us and ignoring us.... Feeling like it was intentional because my partner is Asian Everyone else on other tables receiving good service was white Our waitress at the beginning who told us she would be looking after us abandoned us straight away and we were left waiting for nearly 30 mins to order even appetizers meanwhile people who arrived well after us had their orders taken promptly It seems as though no one wanted to serve us My partner felt pretty discriminated against, as he felt no one wanted to serve us because of his race And I will not return because of this. last time I came with another white person we got amazing service Poor form cecconis.

Went here for dinner of 6 people. Linguine was undercooked and small portion, risotto was bland and undercooked. Ordered the steak and waited for a long time only to get overcooked steak with no apologies. Server also took away our chips because he thinks we don’t want it (not sure why), and also took away our risotto without asking anything. The server in charge for our table seems very uninterested to serve us, but very friendly to other tables. Very rude body language, and made little to no effort to provide us with a friendly service. I had my fair share of high end casual dinings, this level of service is honestly very disappointing and extremely poor. Food are overpriced for sub par quality. This is probably the last time I will visit as the experience has been extremely disappointing and unfriendly.

Nice place, great food Exception to this is that the starter calamari was so salty - it was like the chef accidentally spilt a container worth of salt on the meal - it was very over powering. A colleague of mine ordered the mushroom risotto while the rest of the table ordered steaks, brisket, cotoletta etc, and all the meals came out except the risotto, which took another 15 mins. Then when it arrived it looked like something that a dog spewed up on a plate and it was apparently quite tasteless. All desserts are great. The entrees were all tasty. Staff could be more friendly too, as they are a bit too robotic.

We ordered: prosciutto - 10/10 delicious! Risotto of the day - 2/10 the risotto was severely undercooked. There were even a few that you couldn’t bite through it. I love by al-dente pasta, but that was just inedible. We were only able to eat a third of the dish. Striploin Steak- 1/10 we ordered it to be cooked medium. It was over cooked. Only a single piece in the center was a bit pink, the rest was brown and dry. The edges were burnt (literally) you could taste the ash. We hardly ate it. Lots of left over. We were not asked how the food was even if we barely ate anything. Staff didn’t care. Would NOT recommend this restaurant at all. Over priced and inedible food.

I recently visited your restaurant, and while the service provided by the young lady was excellent and the ambience was inviting and professional, I cannot recommend the food. I was particularly disappointed as I had chosen your restaurant to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. I had high hopes for a great food experience, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I was excited to try the rabbit dish on your menu but found it to be overcooked and too salty. Regrettably, I did not have the opportunity to express my disappointment to the waiter on the night. Given your restaurant's high ratings on various websites, I was expecting much more.

I’m visiting from the States. Had dinner here last night. The food was great but the service was terrible. We sat down and were asked about drinking choices, I ordered the wine and sparkling water. The waiter was short and barely gave anything recommendations and when he did recommend something it seemed forced. He barely spent any time attending to my table. Took a while before he asked what we wanted. We got the bill and they charged me for the sparkling water that I never got, despite asking for it twice. That was removed but the waiter disappeared when we were ready to pay until I got up to find him. This is my representation of what a Melbourne restaurant experience, I’m saddened.

One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Was extremely impressed with service, quality of food and the ambience. Table size is something I value and it was good to see tables well spaced and also appropriately sized. The pappardelle is the best I’ve ever had. 10/10 dish. In fact I came back a second time because I tried my guests dish, and I was that impressed I had to order it for myself. The prosciutto board and cheese was also superb. Arancini also fantastic! They had tasty cocktails and nice wine list as well. Overall it is a great spot for a corporate dinner and a date night. Highly recommend and a rare review of 10/10. Well done!

You come to Cecconi's expecting one thing in particular: Quality. Unfortunately for us, it fell short of our expectation. We ordered one pasta and two secondi to share and were let down by 2 out of 3 dishes. Unless they have changed the definition of al dente, the linguine was noticeably undercooked (albeit the bug meat was to die for!). And while the duck was impossible to fault, the beef brisket tasted much too similar to the corn beef from Coles for my liking. With a final bill well in excess of $200 (with a couple bottles of sparkling water and a glass of wine), it's safe to say that it was an overall disappointing experience. The only reason it got 4 stars instead of 3 was because of our incredible waitress.

We went expecting something nice and got far more. Wonderful ambience, delicious food, and a cheerful hostess, Julia. Everyone was nice. We ordered cured kingfish, seafood linguine, gnocchi, fish of the day, sorbeto and gelato. Every bite has kept me reeling even now. And without a doubt the best bread and chips on the side Exquisite Exquisite Exquisite!!!

Went to Melbourne for a weekend getaway. My wife and I were looking for good Italian food on our first day, and we found this restaurant, although we initially thought it was for casual dine-in. The restaurant is suitable for business meetings, but since we already booked, we decided to give it a try. Great food and great service. However, if you are a tourist looking for a large serving, this be place might not be recommended.

Cecconi's is a silver service, old school Italian restaurant done really well. A beautiful fitout with carpet floors and high ceilings means you can have a proper conversation with a large table which is great. Service here is top notch and super friendly. The food is top level Italian done amazingly well and the best ingredients. The scallops were super fresh and tasty, the pork was next level melt in your mouth. Highly recommend

I have to say food was amazing here. But service? Terrible. We ordered appetizer, drinks & desserts because we had dinner previously, and the waiter was probably surprised. After he took our orders, quite rudely and curtly, we received a shared plate of scallops. They did not bother preparing them properly because we’re sharing. Bill came up to >$150 for this kind of service in a fine dining restaurant? My suggestion: Train your staffs better.

This has been my favourite restaurant since it was in Crown Casino Melbourne. The food is amazing, the staff are so warm and friendly and I always come away thinking about how great it is. I read that Nicoletta stepped up in 2017 and I have to say, if I've noticed any difference I think the service is even better and the food may have stepped up a notch. Well done guys.

Really lovely restaurant. The staff are all super friendly and helpful even though the restaurant has an upscale feeling. We had the scallops, quail and beetroot dishes for starters, a main each and a dessert each and the food was all super tasty. The chocolate pudding dessert was amazing. Although it is slightly pricey, it was definitely worth it, especially if you are looking for some italian food with some class about it! Highly recommend.

  • Chris Price (Pricey)

We dined here to celebrate a wedding anniversary and we’re charmed by the hospitality and lively dining room that was buzzing late into the evening. The scallops and burrata were a perfect light start and the brisket was unbelievable! My wife had a tomato based pasta dish and it was a bit over done and they waiter forgot the fresh parmesan which was a bit disappointing. There was a fantastic wine list both by the bottle and by the glass.

  • Lauren Smith

Very underwhelming experience. Overpriced for average tasting food (and I’ve had my fair share of classy restaurants). Service was lacking. Staff more interested in talking to each other. Upsold us to order sides, then forgot to include them in our order so they arrived after we had our meals. They took it off the bill thankfully but not the point. Also very noisy (i.e. poor acoustics), difficult to hear conversation at your own table.

  • Edwar Kartio

One of the oldest establishments of Italian restaurant in the city. They have pasta, meat dishes along with a selection of entrees. The service is top notch as expected of a fine-dining restaurant. Dishes overall are average and personally not worth the price. Pasta are quite bland and the charcuterie meat selection also very normal. Basically you are paying for service and romantic vibe. Food - 5 Service - 10 Vibe - 9 Price - $$$$$

My partner and I had a lovely night. His gluten intolerance was catered for with each course yet still delicious food. We had an amazing waiter called Ben who ensured we were provided with fantastic wine and food recommendations. He was attentive and quite a character - in a great way! It was also our anniversary and the little touches went a long way. We will definitely be back.

The best fine dining experience I've had so far. The restaurant had white linen table and an attentive wait staff who knew the menu well. It had a lovely intimate and romantic feel to the place. It was quiet enough you can hear each other. The tables were nicely spaced out. Food was on point. You must order the dessert. It is a restaurant for a special occasion.

  • Jim Kim

A disappointment. Overrated, overpriced and not even close to expectations. Most of the street food in Melbourne is better than this. Haven’t had a pasta taste worse in my life. The meet was overcooked to the point it was bitter. Paid $300. Will never come back to this nightmare.

Elegant, some dishes are exquisite, the vibe is old world sort of 'blighty' in a way in the dining side of the restaurant. The bar side is more contemporary. Service was alright, I wouldn't gush on it. Overall, we had a pleasant evening. NOTE: I ONLY write reviews for experiences I really enjoyed and sometimes even cherish.
