LEGAL ACTION PENDING. My experience with Cycles Galleria Camberwell (CGC) began when I purchased a Trek Rail 7 on 07/07/20. The bike worked as expected but I took it back to CGC on 05/01/21 to have new handle bars fitted and to get them to look at a problem with the battery sticking in its housing. A few days went by with no word so I contacted them on 07/01 to find out what was happening only to be told that they hadn't even looked at the bike but might get around to it in a day or so. But they would definitely get back to me. A few more days go by and I still hadn't heard anything so I call again and they confirm that they haven't actually done anything to the bike but they can confirm that the battery is sticking in its housing and they will look on the internet for a solution. Tae fact that they hadn't made any effort to contact me and were searching on the internet for a solution should have warned me. You can guess that they didn't contact me and I had to chase them up. When I did get in contact with them they told me that they had got the battery out of the housing but they had damaged the lock and housing so badly that the bike was now little more than an expensive paper weight. But they may be able to get some replacement parts from Trek by the end of March. Which would mean I would be without a bike for three months due to their incompetence. To summarise CGC were given a perfectly functioning $8,999.00 Trek Rail 7 and their mechanic rendered it inoperable. Which did not seem to worry them in the slightest. What followed was more of the same refrain of we will get back to you with a solution. I am still waiting for them to get back to me which is why I have asked my solicitor to begin legal proceedings against them. What is interesting is that the actions of an incompetent mechanic and a lazy employee have dragged the owners of CGC into a legal fight which could have been avoided if someone higher up the food chain at CGC had taken responsibility for this issue. Although I was informed at one stage that the owners of CGC were aware of the issue - if that is true then they have a very laissez-faire approach to dealing with customers. I will update this post as matters move onto a more formal legal footing. UPDATE - 29/01/21 Received a call from Billy at CGC on 27/01/21. This gave me the impression that someone higher up was looking into this. He told me they were working on a possible fix and that I would definitely get a call back as to how it was going on 28/01/21. Call was not received As such have instructed my solicitor to issue a formal statement of demand which should hit their inbox in the next day or so. 11/02/21 A formal legal demand has hit their inbox @10:41am. Surprisingly I got a call at 10:54am telling me that they had a solution to get my bike back on the road. I was also told that they had been trying to contact me for some time to tell me. Remarkably my phone doesn't seem to have any record of any calls from them since 27/01/21 when Billy told me he would get straight back to me. I was even told they had tried to email me - I have asked for these emails to be forwarded to me so I can see the time and date they were supposedly sent. I haven't sighted them as as of yet.
Rented a Fuel Ex 8 from Cycles Galleria Camberwell between Christmas and New Year for a trip to Forrest. Billy and the staff at CG-Camberwell were super friendly, helped me in setting up the bike, and happy to extend the rental when I was delayed a day on my trip. Really happy with their customer service and would highly recommend them. If you're interested in the Fuel trail bike, read on for my impressions. My usual ride is a Trance 29er, a short travel trail bike, so that's my baseline. Have to say I loved the Fuel Ex. Absolutely loved it! It's a much better climber than my Trance - much easier to get your weight over the front wheel while seated, and the Reactiv shock gives you fantastic grip at the rear. I was able to spin up steep and technical tracks that normally I'd struggle with. The Fuel is also a much poppier bike than the Trance. I'm not a great jumper, but found myself featuring off even small undulations on the trail and getting air. It's great fun! Finally, on the descents it just tracks so much better than I'm used to, staying stable through rock gardens and over roots in a way that's really confidence inspiring. Downsides? Not a lot. Personally, I'd upgrade the brakes to something more powerful for serious descending, but the stock SRAMs were far from bad. I'd also have a look at the wheels/tyres. They're good, but the big 2.6 Bontrager XR4 tyre on the front didn't have the sort of grip I was expecting in the corners, giving way suddenly and unpredictably a few times. Could have been a matter of finding the right tyre pressures, I don't know. I came away from my three days on this bike thinking that with a few minor upgrades this would be about my perfect bike - a strong climber, eager to get into the air, and long enough travel to take on just about any but the gnarliest downhill out there. Definitely on my list when new bike time comes around! In fact, anybody want to buy a second-hand Trance 29er??
I booked my bike for service at the Camberwell Store. The sales person was very helpful when I dropped the bike at around 5:30pm on Monday 15th of February 2016 (for the service on tuesday). He also advised me on an issue with my broken lock and suggested a new one for $90. I agreed to purchase the lock and to the service of my bike for $99, asking them to fit the lock as well. The agreed time for pickup was 5:30pm on Tuesday and total price $189. I needed to get home via public transport and then returned the next day via public transport at 5:37pm. I was informed when I arrived at the store that one of their mechanics was off sick and they hadn't done my service or fitted the lock but I would have to come back the next day. I never received a call to say that it wouldn't be ready. They were apologetic and offered me a 20% discount on the lock only.I collected my bike and told them they could keep the lock as well. All in all I invested at least 3 hours of my time and 2 public transport tickets to get this done. I also left work early twice to get to their store before close time of 6pm. Not good enough. I'll never be back.
Hi Cycles Galleria. I just want to acknowledge both Harry and Patrick of Cycles Galleria Camberwell. I've reserved my Domane SL 5 last week and was able to get it yesterday. Both Harry and Patrick were so helpful in giving me tips on what to get, and what to do with my first ever bike. They weren't just being a good staff but they were both like being a friend giving free advise, etc. Overall, I'm satisfied with their customer service and I must say that I can't wait to get back to their store, say 'Hi' to these guys and it even excites me to shop for more upgrades for my new beloved bike. Please let both Harry and Patrick know that they really did a good job in this transaction. These dudes are rare. They really know BIKES! Thumbs up and keep it up Cycles Galleria Camberwell! Much love! - Happy Customer here - Arllie Donato
I purchased a Wahoo Kickr bike today after my smart trainer died mid-race last night. I was really pleased that the Ringwood store had one in stock, I could purchase it today and it was delivered and assembled by midday. Amazing service. Thanks to Peter for arranging the purchase and delivery so promptly and to Chris for the delivery and assemblement. Chris walked me through the app and set up and ensured I was connected before he left. Additional help was given by Peter over the phone later in the day as I was having difficulties with the app. I could not have asked for better assistance from both staff members. Very friendly and extremely helpful. I am back to my online racing within 24 hours of my smart trainer failure. Thanks a lot Cycles Galleria.
Updating this as today I visited to purchase some rim tape, for some older narrowish rims and a CO2 adaptor and Soroosh took the time to run me through all the options and products for CO2 adaptors they had and I found what I needed. They did not have the rim tape i needed so he took a rim strip off an old wheel he had there and gave that to me free of charge. Very happy with the service received today 16/05/23. Went in to purchase a new front light - Ion 200RT and a Go Pro type mount to suit a K-Edge Garmin mount. Young chap ( Nth American accent maybe) showed me what I needed and even took his light off his bike and fitted the one I was buying to his K-Edge mount to ensure it would fit. Nice to see good service.
Update: We bought our second (Trek) bike from these guys today. That is, we trust them. This bike was for my son and we thought we would buy a cheaper bike from somewhere else. We did look around and couldn't convince ourselves that we would get better quality & service elsewhere. So, back to Cycles Galleria. The salesperson also reminded me couple of times to get my bike back for service which I keep forgetting about. Cycles Galleria has good stock, great quality products and good after sales service. During my first visit I spoke to Billy who was absolutely honest. These guys don't try to sell stuff, they help you make a decision.
Just a tremendous experience being looked after by Emme and Soroosh through the process of learning, evaluating and selecting the right road bike and accessories for my particular circumstances. Over multiple days and many hours they took the time and care to understand my needs and tailor a cycling solution to leave me with enormous confidence in the decisions made and gratitude for the experience. Not to mention their willingness to assist and support me/the bike post acquisition. The 'weapon' I now get the privelege to ride is a testament to their professionalism and passion, somewhat akin to the Apple of cyclying.
The guys here are awesome. Great place to book in for same day servicing and some odd jobs often done on the fly if there is a few spare moments when passing through. I often receive advice at the end of a part change or service to save me reading manuals etc where possible which is really helpful. There is no 'attitude' or elitism here either, just friendly and open service. I admit I didnt get my current bikes here but servicing is done as if I had which is really impressive. Like I said...no pretention here. Overall this is my new bike store for any servicing or part swap etc. Two thumbs up & 5 stars outta 5.
Amazing customer service, very helpful and knowledgable staff! I bought my first trek bicycle there with accessories and all. It's been quite some time since I rode a bicycle so I wasn't confident about riding it home but the guy with the beard (sorry didn't get his name, Shaun maybe?) was very patient in teaching me how to properly get on and stop safely. The short lesson was really helpful, I wouldn't be writing this review if I didn't make it home safely haha :))) Ps. Really sorry for crashing into one of your bicycle displays! I hope the bicycle's fine 0.o
I walked in later on a Monday and was immediately looked after. I had my eye on a bike, but was not entirely sure, so when Matryn approached, he asked what I was looking for and the riding requirements/conditions I was expected from the bike. He listend and provided me with excellent advice and recommendations and reallly looked after me. The service was excellent from front office sales, to the back of house service and final tweeks put on the bike before I walked out. Very happy customer with an amazing bike! Thank you
I had broken my front wheel and was very worried that I had broken my bike. Even though the staff were quite busy they were able to take a look at my bike on the spot and tell me I just needed a new wheel, they didn't have any new wheels in stock but there was a second hand wheel out the back which I was happy to take and the staff helped put the wheel on my bike and fix my front brakes. They did all of this free of charge even though I took up a bit of their time. Absolutely amazing customer service.
Excellent!!!!! First, they were the only bike dealership that could get me the bike I wanted. Second, they were able to get the bike earlier then expected. Third, they stayed late on the day so they could set up the bike and make sure I was able to ride it that day. Shout out to Simon and Martin for their efforts and exceptional customer services. I will definitely be recommending them to anyone interested in purchasing a bike.
I've been seeing these guys since I brought my new bike November last year! I have since moved and travel 20km just to go to this shop, when there is one right around my corner the staff are amazing, knowledge of bikes places to ride best way of getting around in two wheels look no further. Picked up some really good deals to make look like a pro! Love the guys love the shop, service you can't pay enough for well done guys!
Great Shop if your looking for a new bike. I brought a Marlin 5 and am very impressed. Your able to Test ride bikes here and the staff are very knowledgeable very helpful. Marcel was great and looked after us explaining everything. They can put a bike together in 30 mins even when its busy that was great. If your looking for a new bike these guys are the place to visit. Will be back again.
I went in to store to try and find shoes, they didn't have my size, said they'd order them. I called two days later to check, they had only ordered them and told me the shoes would be in "early next week". It is now late in the next week so I called them up to check, they said the shoes had not been ordered and would not be until the store had been converted into a trek store.
Bought new road bike shoes and pedals at the Camberwell store. Had trouble swapping pedals so took it to the store and Matrin swapped it over in 5 mins. Accidentally cut the bower of my new shoes - completely my fault but the guys provided me with replacement shoes free of charge. Can't ask for better service than that! That's the sort of thing that brings customers back.
Noticed I had a broken spoke in the afternoon before a race. No other shops were able to help me. When I rang Cycles Galleria, they said they could do it. It took them 10 minutes, tested it and had me on my way in no time. The mechanic even spent time explaining the problem and what he had done to fix it and what to be aware of in the future. Great service, will go back!
This is an incredibly good bike store in a sea of not-so-good bike stores. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to give me advice that will save me money and time. I've also always been very happy with the bike service - they seem to employ really good bike engineers who really know what they are doing. Definitely a 'five star' experience.
Great looking store but be wary that they do not offer refunds for change of mind (only credit note). This is not advised anywhere in store - only in fine print on the receipt once you've already purchased the item. My purchase was for a bike lock and not a major item like a bike, which in most other stores I would not have had problems returning.
Great workshop, awesome guys at Galleria Camberwell. Its also stacked with pretty nice rides, from sweet balance bikes for the grommets to gravity enduro bombers. Im a fan of Galleria through having built a relationship through their QV store - and its great to see the same principles of great products and service are maintained here.
Martyn was extremely helpful and despite the store being busy he still went to great lengths to make sure I got everything I needed (even correctly sizing and attaching my cleats to my shoes). He was very knowledgeable and just a great guy to have a chat with too. Excellent service and a great place for everything cycling related!
Purchased a bike during the lockdown. It has served me well. Recently had a puncture. Cost $20 to fix but they also have a complimentary post-puchase maintenance program so the bike had a free service to make it run as new, even after a crash had slightly damanged the deraileur. Couldn't believe how good their service was.
I just bought my bike here and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Being a beginner myself, I had a lot of questions about which bike was right for me, but the staff was very friendly and patient, I received excellent advice and even a crash course on how to fix a flat tire. If you have any doubts, don’t be shy to ask.
My Project One bike was delivered earlier than first estimated. Everything looks great and is as I expected, except for the tires (30mm instead of 28mm). I have been told that the 28s are on order and will be swapped over free of charge when they arrive. Communication from the store was excellent.
I've always had a great experience with servicing my bike at the Camberwell store. Soroosh is really passionate about bikes. The quality of his work and advice is brilliant. Without a good bike mechanic by riding would be less enjoyable so thanks for providing such good service.
Cant recommend these guys enough, a bloke named Martyn went above and beyond to get me sorted out with the bike I was looking for when he didn't have it in stock, his knowledge and customer service was second to none, if your looking for a new bike go in and see these guys
Michael from the Camberwell store was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, and took the time and care to make sure I made informed decisions about my bike (and parts). Extremely happy with my experiences (including initial shop fit); highly recommend the team at Camberwell
Arrived at the shop late on a Monday close to closing - had a flat and two snapped spokes - the guys were excellent - staying to fix 20 mins past closing. Great service and great conversation. Very knowledgeable, fast and accommodating. Thank you. Highly recommend
One of the allen bolts (and associated nut) that connects my stand came loose and fell out. I ducked into Cycles Galleria to buy a replacement. The friendly and helpful staff member installed a replacement for me and refused to charge me anything. Thanks so much!
Purchased a Trek Dual Sport 3 and so pleased with the look and more importantly the ride of this bike. Camberwell Cycles Galleria have a great range of bikes and even have enough space to let you test ride the bike around the shop. Their service was great!
This is my local shop but all the Cycles Galleria across Melbourne are awesome! Super friendly service, know a lot about their products and even offer shop rides on a Saturday morning. I would recommend this as your go to bike shop if you are in Melbourne.
This is the second Trek bike we have bought from Cycles Galleria. Shaun (with the amazing beard!) was fantastic at providing honest opinions as well as personal knowledge regarding the bike and kit. Can't fault them......will be back for a third!
Good selection of bikes in the Camberwell area. Solid in-store workshop crew who regularly go out of their way to keep you coming back. They've been working hard at their game since opening & moving well toward being a proper Local Bike Shop.
I visited the store as Trek specialists with what felt like a very expensive freewheel issue with my beloved Domane. I returned two hours later with the bike working perfectly and a $14 repair bill! I couldn’t believe it. Courteous and kind
These people are happy to take your money, but when there is a fault with the product they don't want to know you. They flout Australian consumer law by saying they are not responsible and you need to contact the manufacturer. Buyer beware.
Great team in the workshop. Spent time trying to diagnose / fix the problem before recognising it needed a proper fix. Bike went in at 20% and came back 110% - and even got cleaned (I think a first for this bike!). Thanks to everyone there.
Went there for the first time today since moving into the area for some new bike shoes. The knowledge and patience of Jed to take me through all my options and to really listen to what I needed was first class customer service. Thx Jed.
Awesome bike shop. Recently brought myself a Trek Roscoe 7 and a few accessories. The staff member Matthew was friendly and had great advice and experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for anything to do with bikes …
Can not recommend these guys enough. I came in completely fresh to cycling, they helped me get all the kit I needed, reassembled my bike, all while answering any questions I had. Great experience, will definitely be back
Wonderful staff at the Camberwell store provided honest advice and made sure the bike I purchased was right for me. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who wants advice on bikes, accessories or servicing.
Best place a cyclist or triathlete can go in Melbourne. Lifetime free service is the best thing you’ll find ever. These guys are so welcoming. It feels like a home. Definitely recommend to buy or even just a visit.
Great place. Just went in with a mechanical issue and Billy dropped what he was doing to help fix it on the spot! 4th/5th time I've been there and fantastic service/ very friendly and accomodating staff every time.
Impressed again. Went seeking advice for some combination Flat/SPD pedals to upgrade my fitness bike. They steered me to the best value option for my requirements and fitted the pedals and cleats for me. Thank you.
Amazing service when I took my bike in recently to be checked over. Needed a quick turn over before a long couple of days on my bike. Fast and efficient service and very helpful staff! Definitely recommend.
Had a few examples of great service from these guys. Soroosh has been really helpful and expert when I’ve come in to keep my bike in good condition and look for upgrades. Can’t rate highly enough!
Great customer service. Needed a tube replacement and received a pleasant welcome and service to find my correct size. Will definitely visit for my next bike or accessory purchase. …
Great crew. They really know their stuff and are really friendly. The manager, Shaun, is the best Shaun, with a beard, who works at the Camberwell Cycle Galleria. Keep up the good work.
Very pleasant experience in your shop with help of Ms.Odlete, she is so warm and very excellent communicating skill, anyway, the best of the best...Chicken leg for her. Jim from Boxhill
Great customer service and very knowledgeable staff. Excellent value for lifetime servicing on purchased bikes. Even when I had a payment issue they were very quick to resolve it.
10/10 customer service from Soroosh, went above and beyond to find me a part for my bike that was deep in a storage box out the back and not on the shop floor - great experience!
Visited QV store had great service, then need to try next sized frame . Had in stock at Camberwell store. Great service there also. Now proud owner of a Trek Stache 5 THANKS
the guys here were so incredibly helpful & caring. i didn't feel rushed & they took their time in assessing & taking care of my bike. i'm really grateful! & thank you david!
Great service, recommended the perfect size handlebars for me without seeing the bike. Had a great selection of helmets aswell even though they were out of my price range.
Friendly and helpful staff, provided clear quote upfront and explained what our bikes would need. High quality service in a short time and bikes ran smoothly afterwards!
Bought a kids bike a few years ago for my son to learn on. It kept going flat. They fixed it for free! New tube even. That's awesome customer service! Go see these guys!
SImon was very friendly & Lucus was super helpful answering all my quesitons on the wheel build and the tubular tyre gluing he did for me. Great blokes - tks very much
Great product range, great service when purchasing, and helpful assistance when picking up the bike. Looks like they have a great servicing facility on-site as well.
Would happily recommend anyone to this shop. Aiden and Martyn were very helpful and took the time to satisfy all my requirements. Great store with a great vibe 10/10
Thank you to Emme and her team in making the purchasing experience a breeze. The team is polite, super helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Keep up the great work!!
Fantastic place, excellent service. I couldn't speak highly enough of the help that Soroosh - one of the bike mechanics - provided me while in there. Great guy.
Excellent service. Very attentive, spent lots of time talking about price range and best bike for me. There was no hard sell. An enjoyable experience. Thanks !!
One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Emmeline spared no effort to solve my Problem. I recommend Galleria Camberwell for anything Bicycle.
I’m pretty novice and Cameron was very helpful on the phone to select the right tyre and tube I needed. Phone purchase/collection was very quick and easy.
