Hmmmm.... we went for dinner this week as we really needed a night together and with good food. We have been a goo few times before and enjoyed it, but this week, things were very blah.... there was a very different feel from the start that was hard to pinpoint, and the food did not alter things for the better. The offerings were okay, in that they were tasty, but the first thing that came to the table was like a wafer of bread that had neither olive oil nor butter and was very lacklustre, and the waiter/owner came by and asked if we would like some shavings of truffle on our pasta and we said that would be nice... there was no mention of additional charges and charge they did. We don't expect anything for free, but it is without doubt good business to announce additional charges when making offerings in passing, instead of slipping them on the bill, especially when they are significant. The dessert was the real flop, and it was a very unspectacular and tasteless offering, which really left us with a feeling of... lacklustre. The end result was an enormous bill without the feeling of abbiocco one would expect.

Da Noi (“our place”) makes you feel welcome with such warm hospitality. It’s my favourite restaurant in Melbourne and never fails to delight new friends we take along and longstanding loyal customers like me who love the place. Why? The beautiful seasonal produce from Pietro’s farm. The delectable degustation dishes that arrive from the little kitchen. The excellent service led by Anis at front of house - attentive and knowledgeable, especially with the unusual wines you might find on the drinks list. The clear passion for Sardinian food and wine with a deep appreciation of hospitality. It’s a little gem of a place, blink and you’d miss it terrace on Toorak Rd. But once you know it’s there and you’ve savoured its delights, you’ll be back again and again like me!

The service was good, though surprisingly they didn't ask us how we found the food or wine. The portion of 1st appetiser was teeny tiny! The pasta on the ravioli was too thick. The meat was the biggest let down. The meat was dry and rather tasteless, the skin crackling was not the best and very salty. The roast potatoes were hard and also very salty. The salad was just normal tossed salad leaves, nothing special. It came in a shared platter and we served ourselves. For the price they charge, we expected more care with the food presentation - we do eat with our eyes first! At least the wine was good. My partner had eaten here a few times many years ago and it was a lot better then. Sad that this recent experience was not up to par.

Intimate | Warm | Thoughtfully Delicious From the moment we set foot into Da Noi, we felt the warmly curated atmosphere. The two outstanding elements that left us talking about the experience for days after are (1) Pietro & Rosalio and (2) the delicious dishes. We put a lot of thoughts into this review, and our best way to summarise our experience at Da Noi is: it’s as personable, warm and welcoming as going to your uncle’s place in Southern Europe where he makes amazingly delicious dishes that keep you guessing. Pietro put in the time and care to tell us all about where each ingredient came from, the way they taste and work together, as well as the unfolding stories of the 28 years in the making of Da Noi. One day I was so upset after work and went to Da Noi for the first time for dinner. By the time I walked out I was my happy self again. This experience made me realise how good food could actually heal you. And ever since we’ve been taking our friends there whenever they are in town. Never disappointed. They don’t have a menu as it varies based on what they get from the farm on the day. You either go with the flow with their allergy/preference catered set menu, or be prepared to hear their very descriptive a la cart menu with 1000 ingredients to remember. One of my friends called it “unpretentious fine dining “, in a sense that the food and wine quality is top notch, but you get a more friendly, homely and relaxed dinning experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Da Noi. It's Sardinian essence was what attracted us at first and we were not let down. The service was excellent. We were entertained with many sardinian surprises such as a complimentary Mirto at the end of the meal. The many courses of the set menu were varied and very tasty and plentiful. We could hardly fit the Mirto in! We indulged in a beautiful Sardinian wine with the meal so spent more than we had to but with no regrets. An intimate dinner for two with a quiet, cosy atmosphere. Thank you to the staff at Da Noi for making our anniversary extra special.

If it weren't for me and my lover's ability to cut through the pretentious Toorak Rd front, this place would be intimidating. Within the first halfa, we connected with the beautiful staff and eased into a relaxed, indulgent, spectacular meal. Topped off by a cigarette by the wood fire and a shot of grappa to cheers the meal, I would highly recommend Da Noi for private events, date nights, or a hedonistic Wednesday night.

I just love, love, love this place. Delightful people, great ambience and special food. We had the tasting menu and a lovely bottle of wine. Speaking of wine, the one thing that disappointed me was the wine list. It's not ok to no wine under $85. The wines are good, but it's easy to get high quality wine at way less than that. We had: Caper foam Roasted scallop with potato  and mozarella  puree and black garlic with finger lime Tagliatelle eggplant with pork sausage Rollette shoulderof lamb with egg yoll Hazelnust ice cream with roast pumpkin and caviar Dark chocolate easter egg with white chocolate nest filled with ricotta and prickly pear Yummy, yummy, yummy!

Lovely setting and atmosphere. The food was also good however I do not think the experience matched the price tag. We were not given any menus or any inclination of pricing until the bill at the end . It was also implied that we could only have the set menu (which turned out to be $150 per head), however it turns out that there is an a la carte menu from looking at other customers google reviews. We would have appreciated the option for this and more transparency with the pricing. I note that there is also no pricing listed on Da Noi’s website either.

We have been going to Da noi for years and has always been a favorite restaurant of ours. On this occasion we were disappointed. The food was nice but I feel that the price has gone up but the amount of food served has declined. 5 of us dined and all of us still felt hungry when we left. Main course was roast pork and a small side salad to share amongst 5 people. Not even potatoes or a vegetable dish served as we have had many times before. Service was very good. Quality of food was good but too many cutting corners which impacted the dining experience.

Where do I start! The food is fantastic here, it's a work of art. Everything from chef choice selections were divine. Staff are superb friendly and it has a very unique vibe we felt like we are guests at someone's house. I only give it four due to pricing and the fact that you don't get to see the prices until you get the bill. It was the most expensive dining experience we've had in Melbourne and $38 for two mocktails was shockingly expensive. A drink menu would definitely help. Overall tho, it was a great experience

Has to be one of the best and most lovely restaurants in melbourne. The owner states he wants to feel like having dinner in his home and that’s exactly what it feels like, wonderful atmosphere. I have been a massive fan of Da Noi for a very long time, for the beautiful home made pasta to slow cooked meats that have come from their farm, a truly European feel in the heart of busy South Yarra. And a very good wine list of Italian beauties at prices where you can enjoy a second glass, or bottle. We always have fun, whether it is just the two of us, or we are celebrating a special event with friends. Bellissimo!

We had the degustation menu, which is 6 courses and each dish was stunning. Also, the sizes were perfect. At the end of the meal we were completely satisfied and full but not too stuffed. Price is totally fair. Real Italian restaurant as we have in Italy, which means food beyond the standard, beyond the same old dishes you can find in every Italian restaurant in Australia. This is real Italian food. We also had the wine pairings, wow! And even the desserts were so good, which is pretty unusual. Thank you guys.

Highly recommend! The most gorgeous little restaurant in South Yarra, the creations (and yes I say creations!) this team come up with are delicious. Sitting inside you feel like you're at a dinner party in someone's home, the vibe is intimate and relaxed, but suitable for groups and couples alike. We had the set menu, and (after calling ahead) they were so fabulous at accommodating my complex dietary requirements at the time (FODMAP). The wine and cocktails were also on point. A fabulous experience all round.

Traditional Sardinian cuisine and one of oldest Italian dining room with good reputation. The style of food is very rustic and great for sharing with loved one. And the service is in between old school and modern touch. Worth to visit at least once in your life time and leave it to you for next visit. Inside looking like a art gallery or historical museum. I personally had memorable time with my mate. Tasting menu was good, but the price was a little over charged if I must pick one negative.

For 150$ menu you would expect more, 6 dishes, one serve of potatoes for 6 people..asked if we wanted a little of truffle on the pasta dish, 5 out of 6 agreed, bills comes in 5% extra added... must say a very expensive evening with close to 300$ per head. Nothing is given for free, so be prepared to pay for any extra they propose.

Da Noi was recommended to me and I was not disappointed. Came for my 30th birthday with a group of size of 8 and with different dietary requirements. The set menu was beautifully presented and so tasty. Each meal was amazing. Vegetarian and gluten free dishes were amazing too. My mum said that the pork was the best pork she has had in her entire life. Great atmosphere, kind staff and great food. Thank you for a wonderful birthday :)

Da Noi has superb reviews time and time again. The food is spectacular and they have a great selection of Italian wines. What the reviews don't say is that this place is all heart. Da Noi is food and service for the soul. With daily fresh menu items, you can trust Pietro and his team to bring a mix of modern and traditional dishes that will make your mouth water and your tummy happy. Love this place.

We went for the set menu and we loved every single one of the dishes in our menu. It was more food than what we expected. The wine was also excellent. Just had an amazing meal here for my partners birthday. What a treat this place is. Not only is the food incredible but the service and atmosphere of the place make it really special. Amazing experience - we just had our anniversary dinner tonight. We've walked past so many times, and let me tell you...we're not disappointed. Each course was meticulously prepared and served by the chef. Staff were also very accommodating to our diet too. I recommend for anyone who needs a date night or rather, a first date :)

Came here the other night with my girlfriend for her birthday. We both had the chef's menu and a beautiful bottle of red recommended by our waitress. Here on International Women’s Day when they serve a beautiful sweet Italian wine on the house. Authentic menu, fresh Sardinian produce always. Quaint and cozy restaurant. The perfect image of what my favorite Italian restaurant would look and taste like.

A fall from grace. We used to love da Noi, small, intimate and delightful food. We haven’t been for a few years and we quite taken back by the shift in cuisine, esp how overly salted everything was! The food them didn’t flow and wine list was unexciting.

My favourite restaurant in South Yarra! I had the Chef's menu today and I was blown away. Very tasty, high quality making and some nice surprises. For sure the most tender and juicy pork I ever had. Also a very cosy spot.
