You really do get what you pay for!!! I couldn't be more pleased with Double G Painting and General Contracting. John and Jack were easy to communicate and work with to get the exact results I wanted on my house. I had my 1938 craftsman house transformed with stucco repair, paint, and new gutters. Double G Painting and Contracting was not the lowest estimate I received, but I noticed and appreciated the attention to detail John showed during the estimate. My house has the original wood frame windows which all function, and John was the first to even ask about the functionality of my windows. The estimate provided was upfront and all inclusive for the entire project. Jack, the project manager, was amazing from start to finish. My property was pressure washed and prepped before they began the exterior project. Jack was beyond patient during the process of choosing the colors I wanted, and he listened to every concern I had along the way. They refaced my entire front wall because the stucco was in such bad condition. Nearing completion of the project a roof came to repair a small part of my roof on my porch. During the repair he covered part of my newly painted house with a white elastomeric coating. I had a complete meltdown and contacted John and Jack. Even though the project was nearly finished, John reassured me that his team would come back out and make it right for me. The team cleaned up beautifully after completing the project. I couldn't be happier and cannot speak highly enough about Double G Painting and Contracting. I highly recommend John and his team for any project you may have at your home.

Double G is an easy company to work with. There is a clear chain of contact for the project: a lead who is on site all the time when work is underway, a foreman who stops by at least once a day, and the owner. The owner (John) provided a very detailed bid for the work and he answered my questions and provided solutions as to how his employees would address the tricky issues involved. He provided evidence of liability insurance and a copy of his contractor’s license without being asked. There weren’t any additional or unexpected charges when the job was completed. The painters spent a lot of time preparing the exterior for painting. They were thorough about protecting windows, patios and plants from getting paint where it didn’t belong. They even removed the plastic covering the windows at the end of the day on Friday so we could open windows and see outside over the weekend. On Monday, they put up new plastic and resumed painting. When the job was finished they promptly removed all their equipment and supplies. I am pleased with the results and would recommend Double G.

The pandemic has unquestionably caused a shift in how we live our lives. My gym of 13 years closed temporarily during the initial days of the pandemic, and then ultimately shuttered its doors for good. I decided to install a home gym in our garage, but in order to do so we needed some work done in our garage to address some efflorescence, crumbling cement, stained and cracked flooring, painting our new garage door, and also decided to get our Andersen French Doors painted. After several quotes, I felt most comfortable hiring Double G Painting & General Contracting to perform all of the work, and I'm glad I did. They were highly professional, extremely efficient, and did high quality work. The workers really cared about their work being perfect. Double G did a very big building renovation on our condo building which was way over due. They were very professional and honest in all of our dealings with them. They have excellent employees who are highly skilled and not just day labor and they take a great deal of pride in doing a quality job. Due to the age of our building and the long time since the last major paint job and building repairs we encountered some surprises and some building issues. Double G worked was honest in explaining options to us and worked to provide good options. They are honest and high quality craftsmen. Every day on the job they worked diligently and completely cleaned up the work site at the end of each day. I am very happy to give them a 5 Star rating and we would definitely use them again when we need additional work done on our building.

Double G contracting recently completed an incredible restoration of our 1920s home in Point Loma. We are very pleased with all the care that John, Jack, and the crew put into their work to produce such a quality product. This was our first time taking on a complete exterior restoration and the team went into way more detail than any other contractor or design firm we have experienced before. The prep work was thorough, with many unique facets including custom milling of new wood siding, accurate antique glass pane replacement in the original windows, and color consultation with a designer. This company was recommended through the save our heritage organization (SOHO) and for good reason. If you want a quality job that goes beyond the surface and is sure to last, go with Double G!

Great experience with Double G Painting. From the initial visit with the owner John Gregg to meeting the crew Marcelino and Tito, we felt it was the right company for us. Benjamin was our project manager and very responsive with our concerns. 2 of our neighbors have been in the construction field and complemented the painting team on their thouroughness and attention to detail. Respectful with their interactions with us. The work area was cleaned and tools put in a single area every evening. Very friendly and checked in with us at the end of the day letting us know the progress and plan for next day. My wife noted how the crew kept scanning their previous work and checking for areas needing more attention. I cannot endorse this company more.

We had a small job for John - painting the wood trim on our house which was in very bad shape. John gave us a great price. His crew power-washed the house from the roof to the walls to the front and back decks; they trimmed vegetation back from the house; sanded, primed and painted not just the trim but also the attic vents and the front porch (using Behr Deck Over). They sealed the standing vents on the roof, and sealed the joint between the shingle roof and the flat-roofed front porch cover. John's workers were polite and friendly, were very competent and worked extremely hard. They left a clean work space each night when they left. We are very satisfied and have referred Double G to several friends and neighbors.

Fifteen years ago John and his crew painted my home...TWICE in two weeks! I'd chosen a color I THOUGHT was close to one I'd seen on another home, left for a conference and was anxious to see the finished product upon my return. Why had I chosen that color?? I was embarrassed that my neighbors had had to endure it for a full week while I was gone! The workmanship was excellent so it wasn't easy for me to ask that all that good work be done again. But John didn't hesitate to repaint it a new color and it was completed by the end of the following week! Fast forward to 2022, John and Double G Painting have done it again! We had such a good experience with DoubleG in 2019 that we hired them again after we had a flood did extensive damage in our home. As before John and his team are excellent with communication, resolving issues and delivering a fantastic result. I can’t recommend them enough. My house needed a lot of work --- foundation, plumbing, drainage, etc i.e the works. John committed his whole crew to the job, and never lost momentum till it is done. In the end, I could hardly recognize this gem of a house, which was such an eyesore not so long ago before John took over. Being 3000 miles away, I had to trust a contractor for things big and small. John kept me posted every step of the way with phone calls, emails, texts and pictures --- I would have gone insane without the constant dialogue. I envy the tenants who will get to enjoy living in this little beauty before I do!

This is the second time around I hire them for my house project in Coronado. Last time was almost 7 yeas ago. They were amazing last time. This time around they were even better!!! I am SOOO impressed with Double G. They are in the process of prepping our apartment building for paint. Instead of simply power washing the building, they have scrubbed, scraped, and sanded down existing colors to remove all chipping and pealing paint. They are re-stuccoing, and repairing spots with weather damage. AND, they leave the premises clean each evening when they leave. The employees are friendly, courteous, and professional in every way. Kudos to them all!

John Gregg made a very careful inspection of the exterior painting job to be done and included details I would not have thought of in his bid, which was very reasonable. His workers were meticulous in the preparation for the painting and the final product was more than satisfactory. John made an additional bid on fixing and staining my redwood fence and again the work was excellent. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a painter or a general contractor.

Double G painted my house last summer (2021) and it was beautiful. Unfortunately, I have a very stubborn area in the front of the house that is wood exterior. I've had trouble with it for years because it's exposed to the elements. John sent Jerry out immediately and he did a great job repairing it. John and his crew have great work ethics and care very much about their customers' needs. I am happy to recommend them.

I have a very old house in North Park. The paint was in very bad condition. Many shingles were in bad condition, too. The work done to prepare was so thorough. For example, the workers caulked around each shingle. The choice of what kind of paint to use was carefully managed as well. I have gotten so many compliments from neighbors walking by about how nice the house looks now. I totally recommend this company.

Did a lot of roof work, some chimney work, painted the exterior of the main walls of the house, and had a new window with sky light installed, with repainting some smaller decks and patio. Just had Double G paint our house. It’s cedar shake shingles which is an extra pain. They were incredibly thorough, including replacing a section of damaged shingles.
