Eastwood has everything a park should have: big playground with obstacle courses, tennis courts, skate park, basketball court, and a public pool which has a little mini-pool for toddlers and babies to safely enjoy under adult supervision. But the best thing is the refresqueria Tampico directly across from Eastwood park, where elotes, raspas, licuados, fresh fruit, nachos and more are sold for cheap so everyone can get a delicious snack while playing at the park or swimming in the pool. It's a great place to take the family and I've been going there since I was a kid myself. They've recently added bikes you can rent for 3 - 5 dollars, depending on how long you plan on riding them, so you can be even more active with your family or by yourself.

Nice park. Just the right balance of shade trees and direct sunlight to keep everyone happy. If you miss the turn-in to the parking lot, which is easy to do if you are new to the immediate area, due to its simultaneously small driveway, and the driveway's very poor signage from the street, you'll have a heck of a time turning around and trying to get back to where you so turn in, if you don't miss it a second time, like I may have done... (I did miss it... Three times☹️) Overall a nice safe park for families and children and the like in the daytime, for sure. Never been here at night time, but I would make sure it is a safe place for moonlight basking before trying it out... I'm just saying.

This park has a renewed playground with so many interesting things children can spend there time on like monkey bars, swings plus jumping HIGH on the spongy ground, a community center, sports ares, BASKETBALL, clean restrooms and even a SKATING ring WITH a food stand for raspas, corn and stuff right across the street. If you don't have a car you can just simply walk to the METRO rail. On the right there is a dollar store with so many varieties and a cool manager you can make deals with! :)

Decent park that needs some attention from the city, mainly in the form of mowing the thigh high grass that covers much of the area. The covered basketball court is a good shelter from the summer sun/heat but if you want to actually use the court, you have to go around the homeless people that like to sleep right in the middle of it. The pool looks well-maintained, but is currently closed due to the virus. The skatepark is good but does need some attention as well...mainly cosmetically.

I like this park. Also has a Porta potty if need a restroom. There is a store across the street. Nice play area for the kids. I see is an area for skaters and skate boarders. There is a basketball court but they still haven't put the goals back up since the virus. Nice soccer court for anyone into that. I just go here to relax. Only thing is many the tables don't have shade trees by them and could use new BBQ pits. There is a swimming pool also that may open soon

A little corner park that has a community center, field, basket ball court, skate park, and a decent size playground. Its clean and the playground is newish. The skatepark I would give 2 star since there is a lot of hole gaps and loads of cigarette butts / trash hanging around. There are loads of seating and shaded area. They hold events here sometimes but I think you need to check the website. Overall everything is mostly good except the skatepark.

A good decent park, especially the remodeled park. Theres a swimming pool, basketball court, small little skate park and a good jogging track never had a problem at this park. Its not dangerous as the other two bad reviewers, Second Ward is not a bad community heck not even a bad part a town as 3rd and 5th ward, i live in this Ward of Houston all my life and never had i had problems at this park. Its freakin chillin.

Every time I go to this park I just want to leave it has the best playground, but trash is everywhere on the ground. I try not to let my children stay too late here because the creeps really start coming out in the parking lot acting very strange. Not to mention the homeless population is high around the area so many homeless people stay here or around here leaving their mess behind. Would like to see an improvement.

  • Stacie Aguilar (Chula)

Back in the day i used to come to this park and play chess at the chess tables. Used to have random matches. Since they remodeled it, they took away the tables, i was very sad. It's not the same anymore. Even the playground was changed. They removed the seesaw, and a big swirl slide. Bring it back, at least the chess table and you will get 5 stars. Eastwood park has been my go to place since middle school.

Serene, clean park, very communal. Children especially love having a good time. It's very soothing to hear their chuckles and sweet screams of excitement accompanied always by parents. Spacious basketball court. A roller blades skating rink, swimming pool. And best of all the city and metro police constantly monitoring the environment. Good great park.

  • Franklin Linares

Best park in the world! Been going to this park since I was around 6 years old. Now I'm twenty and never had a problem. The playground to basketball court to the skate park to the track to the tennis courts and finally to the heart of the park, the community center, is home to me. Anyone you meet there will hear you out. Greatest park in the world!

  • OPSL USA

The park is nice is in a good location close to the railroad, but i hate it because i used to come with my girls and play tennis, we also spoke to the lady inside the building and she said they are not going to remove it, but they did took it off now they play football and the people leave trash on the floor sometimes I'll go just to run.

  • Leanette Serna

Reviewing the skate park: This park is great for beginners and those working on new tricks. There is a perfect little mini ramp although it is starting to get a little worn. The street course is small but again, perfect for beginners. It has a small p-rail, a few small ramps, and some boxes/blocks for jumping and grinding.

  • StrawHat Renzo

Hate this place! There's a bunch of gangs and rude people. I got jumped here never will I ever return! Bout a month ago or so someone was doing donuts in the rain with the doors open and children in the car! Please I hope those kids find a better home that was horrifying to see. Cops got him thanks the gods of odinheim!

  • beechan84

It's a bit run down, but there are improvements. There is a walking trail, and, of course, the basketball court with cover and the skating park. There's a decent looking playground. There are homeless people in the area, but I've seen plenty of people using the park. There's also a pool for summer days.

  • Alex Garcia

It's perfect for whatever reason you're going, it isn't as dirty as other parks and the park is divided by like age if I may, the kids playground is for kids and it wasn't given less attention than other places in the park just because other parks have a slide or two and swings.

  • Dennis

They have a skatepark and perfect mini ramp. Best bet if you want to park in the parking lot is to come from the west down Harrisburg. I suggest coming from the south down Dumble st. and parking on Texas st. behind the auto zone, there you can see your car from most of the park.

  • Bryan Garcia

This is a nice place for a 3 lap mile jog. Has a pool and a playground for kids. It also has 2 newly placed soccer fields the size of a tennis field. Even though it is a little small it's nice to take your family. However, the baseball field does get flooded after rain

Skate ramp, jogging/bike trail, basketball ball court, play sets, picnic tables and community center.... what more could you want. And they have a pool that is open in the Summer months. Always clean.. they do a great job with the upkeep of the park in general.

  • Just Ice

Nice park with playground (that includes swings), basketball court, newly redone tennis courts, and skate ramps. There is also a pool that is open in the Summer, a scattering of tables and a trail as well. Unfortunately, there is only a portable toilet there.

  • Becky Aguilar

I miss that park with all my heart. Especially I'm going to miss Mrs. V she was there for me through mostly my childhood ! She was there with me since I was 5 ! She was like a grandma to me to be honest. I love her so much and I hope her retirement goes well

  • Tony Montana

Has a good little skate area if you skateboard. Great, family atmosphere.
Playground
Big playground area.
Dog-friendliness
A lot of grass area for dogs also.
Picnic area
Has a lot of picnic tables and also little smoke grills to BBQ.

  • Shauna Thetford

Love it!!! This park is right in the middle of 2nd ward. You get to see all different walks of life in one spot. The skate park they have is great along with the playground. The areas are very up kept & theres a convenience store right across the street.

  • Minelya De Leon

The park has improved a lot, but it has yet to fix a lot of issues that have been happening for years. They still don't turn on the lights for the park to be well lit. It's so dark, you have to be super cautious. Tired of complaining to 311 for years.

  • Traci Mayes

My kids love going to this park! However its starting to get very unsafe for the small kids due to all the teenagers taking over, fighting and even shooting near the kids playground so we domt go very often anymore. Its really in need of patrol.

  • Jason Guzman

All the neighbors give a dam and are not afraid to take care of their neighborhood. So if you stop by to visit your guaranteed to feel safe unless you have something sinister in mind. You might win a prize to go fishing with our chum specialist

  • Elio Parker

Good for the locals. Pool for the summer time. No crime. It has a cool skateboarding area. Tennis. Ample space for soccer. Basketball. It's a decently sized park. Although there are better parks, for being a neighborhood park it's pretty good.

  • Ella C

Lots of space for different actives, such as an outdoor fenced-in soccer area, one baseball field, a small skating/skateboarding section with ramps, open field, covered section for events or games, basketball coart, and swimming pool.

  • gus seibert

It's a fun little skate complex. It's a modular Park like easy 7. So it's cool. No one will rob you. These super white idiots think that because they have never actually been there. My wife and I would chill here anytime. No issues.

  • Anthony Whitehurst

Talk about a lot of stuff to do, this park has it all. From skate ramps 2 swimming pools and everything in between a park should have. It has been a wonderful staple for community ever since I have lived in second ward Texas.

  • Blanca Exclamationpoint

Definitely needs an update and I’ve heard it will be getting one. Not my favorite play ground currently but kids don’t usually care if things look run down they still have fun. Will update review once the update is done.

  • David Dushman

Playground is reasonable, skateboard park is very small, cracks between concrete slabs big enough for skooter wheels to get stuck in causing accidents. Basketball court is good swimming pool, tennis courts, no toilets

  • Alex Wallenwein

Eastwood Park is a great place for teaching Wing Tsun Kung Fu. The canopy of the basketball court gives plenty of shade, and on Sunday morni gs there is always a group of Native dancers to give us a good beat!

  • Evan Vargas

Scenic and upgraded with a skateboard set up, this park is a great place to take daily laps, play basketball between teens and adults, or skate or admire those who do various tricks on their boards before you.

  • Stephen “Jayson” Perez

Great Lil spot for skateboarding, mini soccer, basketball, baseball, swimming, and even jungle gym for kids alike all in one area. Along wit that theres a snow cone shop across the street to refresh.

  • Erika M

Big park to jog. There is areas to play with the little ones. They also have a swimming pool, skate ramp, and basketball court. Considering how big the park is I wished it had more picnic tables.

  • Set Linares

Park is quite big compared to any other public parks I’ve seen. Basketball, pool, playground, tennis court, skate park, baseball field and even a concrete track. Perfect for a weekend picnic.

  • Gilbert Castillo

All good b careful at nite Halloween rite around corner don't know wat mite bite u could b your average joe from down the street. Needin change 4 a cold 1... All in all b carefull..good nite

  • Blake G FPV

Decent park. I just wish there was more grass space, and that the grass space that they do have t was a mowed. The weeds in the grass were about 2ft tall, and the grass itself was about 1ft.

  • Lori Hunf

Such a wonderful park!! I adore the fact that there are separate areas for older children and younger ones. My toddler loves it so much. We've been going almost every day for the last week.

  • Melissa Vannoy

Pool hours not great .i grew up at the pool and had activities in between hours pool was being checked. Our pool opened up at 9 am and diffrent. Stuff to do along with pool safety class

  • Philip Vaughn

This park is filthy. There are 15 garbage cans throughout this park and the patrons still throw garbage on the ground. The people that live in this neighborhood ruin this park.

  • Stephanie Dicesare

I have over 50 years of experience playing there. It has come a long way since the one swing set and the little metal Merry-Go-Round that you had to run and push then jump on.

  • Aprealia Arabia

It Was Nice To See Alot of Children Playing At this Park With Their Christmas Toys & Bikes. Daytime of Course. I Noticed they Even Have A Lighted Court At Night. …

  • Luis Daniel

Like this park a lot, good for basketball with a sheltered court to withstand heat. Also has a baseball field, swimming pool and skateboarding ramps for the children.

  • Victor Jimenez

The kids playground needs a huge lift. The slide has cracks and I really think its unsafe for the kids, the whole playground needs a few parts replace and paint

  • Jen Hernandez

Awesome Fun Times being at this park off and on since I was 3 y/o since 1977 ... Born in Dallas, Texas but Raised in Second Ward aka Segunda Barrios …

  • Robert Anderson

Not as big and fancy as the other parks but you can find a tree for shade if needed and it's usually pretty clean. Everyone respects the social distancing.

  • Alexis De Los Santos
