Lovely place for picnic and aqua biking. Getting there: The obvious and easy option is to drive here, but the more interesting option is the Puffing Billy train. If you are taking the train it is advisable to get there early and take the return train later. What to do and services: This pristine park is a great place for picnic. There is a restaurant near the Puffing Billy station. On days when they are open you can do Aqua Biking for a very reasonable cost. Taking a walk around the lake is a great experience too. Parents with kids: There are play areas, trails not far away from the water body. Given the restaurant services are usually available on weekends and holidays you better have food and water handy. Under shade picnic areas need prior booking sometimes, so if the mercury is high make sure you are prepared.

This was a really pleasant spot for a splash around. The pool is shaped along the side of the lake and is 50 cm deep, slightly deeper in the middle. There was a lifeguard and lots of seats, a fairly basic change room is a short walk part way around the lake. The pool is free, parking was $2 for 2 hours. It is fenced and it is an outdoor pool so the only shade is from the over hanging oak tree, which was quite enough. The pool was chlorinated and clean, however being outside a fair amount of leaf and dirt was making its way in from feet and wind. However, the sun shining in the water, the fresh air, trees, ducks and pleasant surrounds make this a fun place for a play and a swim.

Great destination for a day trip from Melbourne or via Puffing Billy from Belgrave, where it's the last station on the line. Especially in summer when the pool is popular for swimming and Autumn when the display of Autumn leaves is stunning. Lots of shady trees and green lawn areas to picnic on, Tables and benches, BBQs if you want, playground for kids and up near the Puffing Billy station a model train museum and walks through the landscape if you feel like it. It can be extremely busy on weekends and difficult to find parking, which you have to pay for. Several toilets around the park as well as a kiosk down near the water and paddle boat rental.

This is a great, family-friendly wading pool - depth between 0.5 and 0.9m. Free entry. Not huge, but big enough for kids (and grown-ups) to splash around. Lifeguards on duty. NOT heated, as you might imagine. If the air temp has been consistently hot over a period of days (30+°C), then the water should be nice. You get used to it after a while. Plenty of parking and it's cute to swim beside the ducks. Some picnic tables nearby. Always check the website the night before to check opening - sometimes closed in extreme heat. Nearby playground with exercise equipment. Have fun!

What a unique place! Shade to sit and watch the kids, deep enough for adults to enjoy with water height up to 0.9m. Fenced in, picnic tables outside of gated pool area and toilets ( a little walk away), a playground and lots and lots of other things to see and do. Parking is $6 all day and less then 200 metres from wading pool. Entry is free. We stayed for 6hrs, lots of people came and left. Bring a picnic and make a day of it.

Very good picnic spot. Public electric grill available. Good park and lake view. Usually good to visit in summer. Few birds are there, kids will enjoy a lot. Kids pay area is also there. Good place for photo shoot. Cafeteria, Car parking space and toilets facility is available. Fishing allowed, pack your fishing kit, you can catch and grill on the spot. :)

Emerald Lake Park is a beautiful spot. Under normal condittions there is plenty of parking, or you can ride Puffing Billy to the Park. There are lots of walking paths, a big lake and other small lakes and creeks, and boating on the lake. There is a cafe, and plenty of BBQ and toilet Facilities. A new Visitors Centre is currently being built.

Best pedalling boats.. recommended for kids over 10+ kids.. 3+kids can accompany adults.. barbecue area available.. first stop of puffing billy train.. reasonable price. Playground nearby.. gym equipments too established. Car park available. Public toilets available.

Highly recommended. I have been there many time and I have enjoyed every single time being there. The park is not open 24 hours though, please check latest information on opening hours before going. It’s a big enough park to spend a whole day with family and kids.

Was a lovely park. We went there to go on the Paddleboats but they weren't even open..bit disappointed. Saw ducks, kookaburras and other birds. Pool was good. Only gave 3 stars because we went there for the purpose to go and the Paddle boats (closed)

Whether you want to enjoy fresh air in the woods, Go for trekking or sit around a lake, This place is a must visit in Emerald Victoria. Going into nature will allow you to change your thoughts from Negative to Positive.

Famous spot among tourist to get off puffing train and have a picnic. There's not much food you can find here so equip yourself with load of supply and water. A trail in this area is nice and serene. Dogs are welcome.

Emerald Lake is the logical and proper place to end a journey on Puffing Billy. It is a picnicking park rarely seen in the 21st century with a variety of activities, multiple cafes and walking trails in abundance.

The paddle boating is good for kids, although the do not have paddles that are compatible for kids. I’d you have kids, they will just have to sit in and enjoy unless they are grow up to reach the paddles.

The place is good with Bike Pedalling ,a quiet water sides with still waters were the birds and ducks have a quiet respite from their flying. Loads of ornamental fishes here. Some people fish here too.

  • Karin Eckermann

Only used in the warmer months. Lifeguard there in business hours otherwise pool is locked to public after hours No longer allowed to swim in the lake itself which is a shame.

  • Lo Ren

excellent for families. kids will surely enjoy, along with the adults. staff are very friendly. and price for the paddle boat hire is reasonable. 15 aud for 15mins 2people.

  • Phil Conroy

Great place for a picnic with friends and family. Didn't use the "wading pool" itself but loved the grounds, play areas for the kids and watching Puffy Billy at the station

  • Billy Schroeder

The best fun, pack a BBQ, walk over the bridge, visit the train track house and ride on the water bikes. Kids park was awesome but not big enough.

  • Sophia Gigliotti

I live right around the corner for here and every time it is always filled with duck poo. When it is clean though it is nice.
