I really loved this place. It made quite the impression on me! The store is really cosy and the atmosphere reminds me of the lolly shop in Beechworth. There are an array of sweets and baked goods in this place. We came in last weekend and ordered the steak, cheese and chilli pie and a chorizo sausage roll. The chilli pie was so tasty. But if you ain't good with spice, don't even try it. It says steak and chilli and it doesn't hold back. If you're up for a spicy pie, you've found it right here. The chorizo roll was juicy and mild. It had a good level of spiciness. We also bought the big choc chip cookie which was awesome. And for the three items it totalled approximately $26. I'll be back for sure, but I'll get my staple pie and look at the other range of sweets. I am a huge fan that the owner hires young locals. This store actually has a sign to say that it could be their first job so don't be mindful, more or less. I agree. All workplaces need that. The staff were great.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I’ve been to thousands (well, maybe hundreds) of bakeries, but this one takes the cake (pun intended!). It has all you can ask for (see pic’s). It has a huge variety of hot and cold foods, all in a delightful, rustic and warm space. There are salads, Greek and Italian options, and cookies and cakes galore. And, of course, bread…and great coffee. It is the perfect oasis on a wintery Melbourne day, and was (understandably) packed full of people. The stand-out for me were the sausage rolls... on steroids! Huge and tasty! I will never look at another dry, unappetizing 7/11 sausage roll again. There are few bakeries worth an hour drive from Melbourne, but this is one of them. One difficulty is finding it – it is off the main road and its name is obscured by a large tree. Seek and yee shall find – Google maps is your friend!

On the main street with plenty of parking, this bakery looks amazing when you walk in, so vibrant & cosy with beautiful biscuits, cakes & food everywhere, so colourful & packed in every direction you look. If & when you find the prices they are super expensive. Not many staff around to greet or assist you. The biggest disappointment is that there is nothing in this store that states that any product is gluten free or dairy free or vegan etc etc - this store does not cater for food intolerances which in todays day & age is a major big deal. My husband purchased a vanilla slice to try (which was average tasting)= 2 slices @ $14:80 - which cost $15:04 when they added their surcharge which they don’t tell you about. He did however receive a wink from the dark haired lady who served him

One of my FAVOURITE cafes in Victoria. Nestled among the Dandenong ranges beautiful vistas and quaint towns, this cafe brings a sense of community to all who enter. A lively haven of baked goods, ready to go meals and delectable coffee is what you'll find. Open in the wee hours of the morning for the tradies to get their coffee fix on the way to work till the late afternoon where parents can pick up a treat for their kids after school. Their skilled team know how to make you feel welcomed and are all about great customer service. Their baristas have mastered their trade and present each drink with pride to their valued customers. This is a must visit if you plan on a cute day trip for some boutique shopping, slow windy road driving or just a retreat to the wild forests of the ranges.

Haven’t been here since they gave my wife full milk instead of lactose free and she ended up not well at all. But I was in need of cake and this was close. I like the supermarket style setup they have now, but most aisles you can’t get to anything as ppl are blocking everything. Overall not really much options, some full size cakes, two cakes packaged together, old pies with rock hard overcooked bases in the warmer, couple basic loaves of bread and all at top dollar. I should have gone to cockatoo or Gembrook as the quality is better and cheaper but I ended up buying the Rocky Road which tasted horrible and the banana loaf (yet to try) Personal opinion, head to the other cafes as they are better. Plus there are multiple choices in emerald.

We have been coming to EVB for years and love it! There is an enormous selection of savoury and sweet foods for everyone. We visited most recently just last week and I would have to say this was our first not so great experience. They have changed the entire layout which definitely flows better, however, their pies are now in a ‘help yourself’ display, covered in plastic. I’m not sure if they have changed chefs or this new way to store the pies/sausage rolls/pasties is what caused them to taste below average. We also had the chicken focaccias which were disappointing as they were extremely dry and bland. Hoping that this was just a once off as we used to love this bakery!

Went here on a whim having never heard of it before. It is BY FAR the most AMAZING bakery I have ever seen in my entire life. Especially for Christmas. It's like you're literally at Santa's bakery. They must have some amazingly skilled bakers working there. The staff are all very friendly, but they're also very busy so don't stand around taking their time up deciding on what you want at the counter. If I lived closer to this place I would weigh a lot more.

The bakery has variety of dessert and some main meals you can reheat and cook at home! I have ordered some chicken schnitze and had it at the outside table, half way through of my meal there was a hair on it. I went and told a staff, she looked and didn't apologise at all!! She just asked me do I want refund or another one. The attitude was bad Also all dessert has no expired date at all which you have no idea how long they have put out there!

I visited on a Saturday at around 4:45pm with a friend after they insisted on bringing me here because they loved it so much. Now, I love it too! This bakery is amazing, the range was huge at the end of the day, so I would love to see it in the morning! Everything has a homemade feel to it that makes it so much more special. We got 6 choc chip cookies, 5 smartie cookies, an apple pie, 2 vanilla slices, and a veggie pastry (total $50 something). It's not cheap but everything was delicious so definitely worth it to me. Highly recommend, I'm very excited to go back!

Emerald village bakery is always a stop over when I am in the area or I actually make a day trip out of it and come to the bakery just for the delicious baked goods. I absolutely love their apple pie and their Banana bread is perfect with butter. They have renovated since I was last in and they now have a more of a self service style supermarket experience, it's quicker to get your items but I felt like it's starting to loose its homely village feeling post renovations. The baked goods haven't changed though which are still very delicious .

  • Alix

Gigantic sizes bakes. Excellent selection of treats, savouries and precooked ready meals. I got a vegan sausage roll and a Chai latte with almond milk -(costs extra but had a good selection of plant milks). The service for hot drinks was super fast. No seats indoors but a few tables outside on the street. All very accessible. Really impressive bakery (although DO Not go there if you're calorie concious - the caramel on millionaires shortbread is an inch thick!) they do amazing birthday cakes too.

  • Jason S

I was overwhelmed by the wide variety of cakes and sweets (it's a good thing, I think). There's quite a few 'buts' though. 1) Insanely expensive! A 300g bag of speckles costed me just under $20... you read that right... yummy, but never again. 2) Prices kind of hidden (look underneath). 3) Lack of Best Before/ Use by labels. I don't recall seeing any. 4) Lucky to get a table if you want to dine-in. 5) Some of the cakes disappointingly lack flavour. I hope this business learns from all the comments on here.

  • Mary

A bakery heaven. It had everything you would ever find in a bakery. The hot food section has some good selection for one to grab a bite before heading off for a hike. They have wide range of cakes, pies, cookies and lot more. The layout of the bakery is well planned, feels like a mini supermarket for baked goods. My partner says the egg and bacon roll is the best he has had. Price wise it’s affordable. The only thing that stood out was that they charged 1.50 for soy milk which is pricey in my opinion.

  • Christine Burke

If I could give less stars - I would. While they offer a wide range of delicious cakes etc. they are over priced, they don't put prices on all of their stock (so the cashier can make up a random price for each customer - ie the 2 apple cakes I purchased) and if you pay on a credit card the customer is charged a "surcharge" which the cashier doesn't tell you about. I requested a receipt but it was not itemized which is illegal. I will never return to this bakery again. Outrageous prices!!!

Left very disappointed. Purchased an apple pie today for $16.80, which I've enjoyed before. Today pastry was still raw throughout. When I rang to provide feedback a few hours later, a lady that answered advised they have some new chefs - no offer of a refund or effort to make things right. Not the way to run a business considering the premium price customers pay.

Used to be the best bakery in the area, would go out of my way to grab a feed. Wouldn’t waste my time anymore. Foods rubbish and overpriced. Pies and sausage rolls are pre packaged in Plastic. Layout is awful and crowded. Staff are slow and don’t look like they want to be there. Photo is their excuse for a sausage roll. Changed my rating to 1 star after giving it a second thought, place has been ruined

They are more than happy to provide recommendations and make sure you leave with a smile on your face. If you're in search of a top-notch coffee and a quick bite to eat, Emerald Village Bakery & Cafe is a go-to destination. Prepare to be impressed by their excellent service, exceptional coffee, and mouthwatering food.

Vast array of really interesting chilled takeaway food, not just bakery. Hot takeaway food available. Great coffee. Limited indoor and outdoor seating.

Huge range, but super average food. There are no prices on most products, nor are there used by dates (or made dates)... is that even legal? Who knows how long the food sits there for. This bakery is for the tourists only. As a local, I prefer to travel to surrounding suburbs for much nicer bread and food options, at very reasonable prices. Where staff are treated like humans.

Absolutely am in love with this place! Visited twice on a mini vacation in Emerald and would visit every day if I could! Such a warm and welcoming place with a great variety of homemade goods and has such a great community feeling with a great display of all the delicious meals and snacks, my fav so far were the red velvet muffins but everything was amazing

  • Samuel Young

The best bakery in Melbourne!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you haven't been here, get down and enjoy the beautiful scenery and amazing bakery! We always make a trip to Emerald Village Bakery every Christmas and pickup some of the best baked goods in Melbourne. It's a tradition to visit during Christmas with family and pick out some of our favourite treats for the holiday season v

  • Ben Chauvelon-Jones

Top notch-quality ingredients turn into top notch finished products. Awesome ambience with everything seemingly effortless in collection. First time there, I had a Chicken, Leek and Chive Pie. Safe to say, it did not disappoint. My advice.. take public transport, if you're coming from Melbourne. Leave by 10am, on a weekday, laughing..... Go and get some!

  • eshleic

Food is crazy overpriced and very subpar. Bought their gingerbread cookie (3 for $14.80!) and it was dry, hard and literally bland. Sausage roll was also bland and dry. Service varies - I got the grumpy old lady at the main checkout but the ladies serving hot food were a lot nicer and friendlier.

Lots of different food items bread cakes, Coffee they serve coffee right onto the street, through a hatch window, and they have outside seating nearby, the public toilets are about a short 50 Meters walk just around the corner in the park, and we're clean on 14th of July. Polite service I love the antique small car, that lives inside the shop.

  • Matt Taylor

What we had was fantastic. Their self-sauceing pudding was out of this world. (pic included) Customer service was good, very good for how busy it was. Selection of goods was really great. The self-service aspect I really like, it was an efficient system for a busy establishment. The only slight issue I had was the volume of the music. Too loud.

  • Natasha Venizelos

I loved the store layout; it was super cute and homely. The staff were friendly, which is always a win too. The egg and bacon roll was a generous serving; however, it was cold in the middle. The florentines were ok; however, they were the only gluten-free treat they had in the whole store, which I found surprising. And the coffee was average.

  • Kerbray

Huge bakery with a lot of choice, and both indoor and outdoor seating. It did take some time to get coffees given how busy it was, but that's only a good sign. Food was delicious when it came out and the coffees were okay. Dogs are allowed in the seating area outside which was good. Muffins were superb, and would definitely recommend these!

  • Michael Jones

Gone downhill. Basically a supermarket with everything pre packaged. In a world where everyone is trying to reduce plastic, this place is doing the opposite and is choosing to now wrap everything individually in plastic. No prices on anything. Completely geared towards masses of tourists. A shame. Used to be great. Won't come here anymore.

  • Emily

Fingernail in my hedgehog slice at this place. Revolting to say the least. After reading other reviews it seems this place has extremely poor food safety. Would recommend the extra 10 mins to prosperina bakery

  • The Coffee Adventurer

What an amazing inspiration! This is a bakery that has gone next level in everything. From hot pies, sweet treats and take home meals, you just want to load up once you get thru the doors. And then there's the coffee. Order a latte, and buy a bag to take home... Actually a better deal than the Zest Roastery in Berwick!!

  • Ashton Samuel

Emerald Bakery is a good bakery however it is very expensive! I do enjoy a nice meat pie but it was really like eating real gems and emeralds for the price I paid! Living in Melbourne and heading East through Emerald, the bakery does have tasty pies however just for a price where I can buy like 6 from Woolies.

  • Jade K

Have been coming to this Bakery for 25 years now. Being young or older, it is always so exciting to walk in and see the many different sweets and savoury foods that have been freshly baked. The quality of food is next to none! So delicious everytime! Definitely recommend visiting if you're around the area.

  • Amanda

Very busy bakery. The food is pretty nice but I wish they had allergen or dietary signs on their hot food. I ordered a ‘potato pie’ thinking it was vegetarian and it was a mince meat pie with potato on top, kind of like a shepherds pie so I had to bin it. They have ALOT of variety which is really nice.

  • Dammy m7

No prices on items, convenient given how expensive most things are. Items arent shown on receipts either, so if you don't specifically ask what each item costs, you will never know - and they want it that way. Disgusting practice.

WOW. I would come back just to visit this bakery. There is just so much choice and it all looks so delicious everything we got for a little work trip (which was a lot!! Spent about $400) was so yummy. Staff were so friendly and helpful and just loved everything about this experience! More

Absolute best bakery in all of Victoria. Quality of food is beyond 5 ☆.. Staff are all polite and helpful. Store is always immaculate and clean. If you have the fussiest family or friends, you'll certainly find something there that they would never have tried. 100% value for money.

  • Sarah Berka

Love this place but very highly priced for any ready made meals. A bit disappointing that most sweet treats are only sold in packs of 6, so bringing our kid means over spending and too many cupcakes. Overall this bakery is beautiful though and the staff have always been lovely

  • mattieb3152

Friendly fast service. People raved about the sausage rolls in reviews but I found them very average and bland with a mushy meat (if you could call it that) texture. Coffee was nice flavour but not strong enough for me.

Totally over rated and exceptionally overpriced food. No healthy options and no ability to purchase single items. Everything packaged in plastic and in multiples. Very commercialised and no fresh bread. Not a traditional bakery just busy tourist haven. More

  • Debbie Bruce

It was fantastic!!!! The best bakery I have ever seen...however I could not buy a birthday cake because over 40.00...but they were well worth the money....very beautifully decorated. I just bought a few other sweets...I will probably just make a cake.

  • Joby George

This is one of the most beautiful bakeries. Wide variety of cakes, cookies, puddings and desserts. Amazing coffee and some good option for hot snacks and some good varieties of big pies. Much recommended and a must visit if you are in the area. More

  • Rhondalee50 Fitzpatrick

I liked it , but when I got home and worked out how much things were I was shocked. Font buy the Shepard's pie as it was all.potato and hardly any meat and that was 20.00. over the top in their pricing .the place was lovely but just got a coffee.

  • Nick T

Lovely bakery! There's a large variety of baked goodies on offer. I got a schnitzel sandwich and coffee for lunch and bought some biscuits to take home. They were very tasty and freshly made. Highly recommended place to visit if you're nearby.

  • Az Carter

I rate this place as good, but not great. It's always really busy when we visit on the weekend. The variety of food is pretty amazing (a little over the top in my opinion). The food overall is pretty consistent, again it's good but not great.

  • Matthew Hartman

Popped in here with the family on Friday for lunch and was not disappointed! Got a mix of pies and mini quiches. Ended up taking away a family quiche and Nona's meatballs with pasta for our dinner. Super delicious! Will be back again!

  • James Song

Reasonable prices variety of selection. Big enough for one. I had chicken sausage roll. Good for cafe and bakery. Just one thing that scone is cone with only pack not just one. And good location just right next to puffing valley.

  • William Treadwell

Stopped in for the first time the other day. There is a large selection of food available. I had a Quiche which was fantastic. Happily go back again.

What happened to the pies? They used to be amazing and now they are lukewarm rubbish. Not worth the drive anymore. And the prices are ridiculously expensive now, $150 for six items is a bit rich nowadays

  • Edy Lianto

From outside, the shop looks pretty normal. Like one of your local bakery. But once step inside, it's cakes, biscuits and pastries heaven! They even have a dedicated coffee bar on the corner of the shop.

  • Lochlyn

The fresh food is nice. However, do not buy the cakes they're old and extremely dry in the middle. The cake I purchased for my birthday must have been at least 2 weeks old. Sad ending to a nice night.

  • Kyle Wintaur

The fact that this place is *so* busy every time we go, and that they needed to create a queuing system that snakes its way around the bakery, goes to show how (understandably) popular it is.

  • Tracy Montgomery

Looked great but pies were very average. I thought the scones looked good but they were so huge it was like eating a small cake. I don't know what's changed up there as it used to be awesome.

  • Oshini Punchihewa

Lots of options, amazing variety of food, really good tasting food, but some items some overpriced and prices unmarked. good customer service. overall, enjoyed the food !

  • Georgina Pettinella

Bought a chicken and leek pie and bottle of coke and paid $12.80. All food is unmarked in regards to pricing and the pie filing was very mushy and unpleasant to eat.

  • Tina Fu

So many different choices Fresh and delicious Must try: Beef and peper pie: very papery and spicy Home-made sausage: not the usual taste and texture you've tried

  • Numbat Echuca

Delicious hand made food, beautifully displayed and the flow of customer's through the shop has improved. The customer service staff are friendly and attentive.

  • Tammy

Such a beautiful bakery. It felt like I'd stepped back in time. The food was all so well presented and fresh. The pies I got were delicious. I will be back.

  • Andrew Marcus

It’s the type of business that they make into reality television An incredible demonstration of creativity, quality and good value.

  • Ivy Fang

Amazing bakery. Fresh produce, hot food, take away meals, I am impressed by how amazing all the food looks!
