If I could give this place zero stars I would. I rented a car. When I picked it up, not at my request, the attendant suggested I should return it at noon as the car was not full in gas and he was trying to make up for it. Until then, no problems.. kind of a nice gesture. The car itself no problem. The nightmare was at the return. I was at this branch at 11:55 am. Outside in the door, I found another couple who also was there to drop their rental car. I found here that the store was supposed to close at noon. No-one was at the branch and the branch was closed before noon. The other couple mentioned they were a few minutes there already. Being a tourist, I relied on the call the other couple made and ended returning the car at another location since this location has no drop box. I paid parking fees 15AUD to exit the location. I wrote to customer service at Europcar. The company put the resolution of my request at the hands of the manager of the branch. The manager, who could not claim otherwise, claims that they were open until noon. Not what happened.... so zero stars... to the branch manager and to Europcar as a company as all records are there to when I dropped the car at another location and the call from the other couple as well as their drop at another location just like I did. Europcar as a company is liable for the parking penalties. They do not need to put the resolution at the branch level as they are the ones who were not responsive to the customers to begin with. Never again I will use Europcar.

As a result of a side swipe in a car park, the lovely gent who whacked my vehicle used his insurance company for the repair. Thankfully the insurer allowed a replacement vehicle and Europcar Fortitude Valley facilitated a replacement vehicle. While there wasn't a lot of information on the where/when/how on the website, using Google Maps made finding the Fortitude Valley store more easy, although there was not a lot of information on alternative parking near the store - but thankfully there was on Maps. Staff were efficient, replacement vehicle was great - ended up with an upgrade to an Isuzu Mux - and the whole process of collecting and retrieving was effortless. The vehicle had been cleaned and filled with fuel and was a pleasure to drive. Similarly, returning the Isuzu once we'd received our own vehicle back from the repairer, was equally effortless. If I ever have the need to hire a car in the future I would be happy to contact Europcar and would recommend them for anyone needing a hire car/replacement car. As the Fortitude Valley office is in a busy precinct, you can't park outside, there is a major parking facility behind the office however. We used St Paul's Terrace, turning into Constance Street to access the office in Ann Street.

The car was good, late model Toyota Yaris with only 25,000km, plus unlimited km on contract. Getting a straight answer on how much it would cost was impossible. Despite inquiring by email and phone calls, no quote. We had to wait for the invoice to arrive by email, after picking up the car. We had a vague quote of $38.85 inc. GST per day, but that was incorrect. It was $42.85 inc. GST for a small car (March 2018). We also paid an extra $13.20 inc. GST per day for zero excess, and we could not use our own toll tag, which meant we had to pay an additional daily admin fee of $3.05 on top of any tolls. We also paid for fuel of course. Minium daily cost was $60.60, but nobody was prepared to explain that up front. That was the RACQ discount rate. Read the terms and conditions.

We booked a Volkswagen Passat via the internet from Brisbane Airport. When we went to pick up the vehicle they only had a Toyota Camray which was badly scratched. My wife asked if we could have the vehicle we requested and if not could we pay too upgrade to a vehicle which had seats higher from the ground. My wife was given a flat no response and treated as a nuisance even though she explaned that I had a bad hip and had travelled too Brisbane to see my surgeon at The Brisb Private. This is only the third time I hsve rented from europe car and possibly the last I phone The Brisbane City Office and the young lady was helpfull and is trying to swap the vehicle for us tomorrow.

I rented an i20 from this store to go to Gold Coast, I returned it with Full Fuel, the Fuel it consumed to go to Gold Coast and come back was 13 liters and I paid around $19. The next day I was charged for another $21 for Fuel!!! someone from there must have spin around with the car and they charged me again. I took this matter to their customer relation, but I got no answer. Now I checked again my credit card, they have charged me for the rental fee and the fuel again from their Melbourne office!!! WTF is going on? This is absolutely ridiculous, this is the shittiest service ever. I am going to my bank to open a dispute and report a robbery.

I rented a car (after a car accident) and Europcar claimed there was a scuff mark on mirror when car returned - there was no damage to car at all when returned to their carpark. We suspect the scuff mark was caused when car was parked in their carpark, AFTER it was dropped off. Europcar have not provided proof of "before" photo of car, only "after" photo. No reviews of car park footage were provided as requested. Their investigation was completed within one day, with no further evidence provided. Want to charge $600 for a scuff mark, without evidence, approx 4 weeks AFTER the car was dropped off. Dont use them!

Extremely poor customer service, so disgusted at the lady at the counter's attitude when the car I had booked and had confirmation had been rented to someone else, no cars left and a deposit in the hole, no offer to find another vehicle was made nor and apology about THEIR mistake! My partner and I were left walking up and down the airport rental places without any transport. Hertz sorted us out with a smile but onsite booking meant paying through the deepest parts of my pocket. I'll never use europcar again. Very rude. Very stuck up and extremely unprofessional.

My recent car hire experience with Europcar was appalling. I had to book a car at Fortitude Valley as there were no cars available at the airport. No where was I told about the 3pm office closing. So I showed up at 3:10pm and wasn’t able to pick up. Despite calls to Valley office, no one returned my call and the Europcar bookings and reservation line said that I needed to speak to the Fortitude Valley office. This is customer service at it’s worst, I’m going to stick with Avis next time, I’m never going to hire from Europcar again.

I was to pick up a car on Friday at Fortitude Valley in Brisbane - the encounter turned into a fiasco as the very abrasive staff memeber wanted ID I didn’t have, plus a $400 deposit, plus she wanted to increase the charge by $50 per day. She was reluctant to explain much to me or provide the service I would expect. I did not proceed with the rental - this out was offered, so I agreed and walked away. My bank account has now been charged $258 - I am furious and I want the money returned with an apology.

I had the bad fortune of someone opening their car door into the rental car door. Left a small dent. Long story short they charged me $950 and that’s minus the $653 i was covered for! Europecar really likes to kick you while you’re down with gouge fees such as Loss Of Use fee = $169, Admin Fee = $100 and they will hire the most expensive mechanics to do unnecessary and expensive repairs. Call them and you will get dismissive rude replies. I would rather walk then rent a car from these people again

I used Europcar for a car hire when my car was damaged and was in for repair. The hire car I got was paid for by insurance. Overall I was very happy with Europcar and the car I was given. The location of this car hire was not too hard to get to and there is a large carpark right next to it. Staff was helpful and overall I was hapy with the service. If I need another hire car I will forsure consider them. Thank you.

AVOID . Worst company ever !! They charged us with no warning 600 AUD of "cleaning fees" because they found dog hair on the floor of the front seat of the car. Hereby the pictures they sent us. I am willing to pay , but $600 !! for 1m2 of " extra" cleaning is just taking people's money! I have been talking to customer service for more that 2 moths now with no serious answer!!

I checked online for availability and called to confirm. Was told to sort it all online. Booked and received confirmation only to be emailed late the night prior to booking that our rental was not available. When I called for explanation I was made culpable and no alternatives or legible explanations were offered. Quite poor. LUCKILY, Budget was available

Great MG vehicle hired. Easy pick up and drop off, however a word of warning. i booked through Travelocity and was double charged for insurance. Not good enough. The car was also scraped by another in a car park. Luckily there was a witness who gave us the details of the driver, so we have supplied to Europcar and hopefully all will be sorted.

I have good experiences with europcar in generell. I've rented a suv in Melbourne for ten days and returned the car in Brisbane. The car was clean and okay, but I haven't got a document that I've returned the car. So I don't know I like europcar and the cars are mostly really good, but the communication could be sometimes a little bit better.

After having my car stolen back in 2010, I sometimes rent a car to get my driving frustrations out and go on weekend trips around South East Queensland. I booked a Hyundai i20 and was pleasantly surprised how clean and easy it was to drive. I found the staff easy going, happy to help and I would recommend anybody to use this franchise.

Really upset with our service today. Expressly stated over the phone I needed a manual, not friendly at all at the counter, staff took our money then told us they couldn't give us the car we'd booked because they didn't have any left aka they'd already given it out. Stay away from this car hire business at the Valley. Unprofessional. Incorrect information given over the phone about ID requirements that caused undue stress to potential customers and unnecessary expense in cabs because of the mis-information.

I've hired a lot of cars and never needed to provide a passport. Would be useful to know this before arriving and subsequently been told to return with a passport. Due to this I was late for an appointment. Wouldn't recommend Europcar.

Easy and fast check-in and return. Got a free upgrade from a Corolla to a VW Golf. I'm not easily impressed, but the Golf was a fantastic car. BUt it is a long walk from the office to the car. Minus HALF a star * .

Car dirty on pick-up wheels hadn't been cleaned. The deposit comes off your card instantly still waiting 5 days later for it to come back scam not using these guys again …
