Appalling service! My bf and I came in with our two dogs, a Yorkshire terrier and a Pomeranian. We asked them for very specific cuts, keep a significant amount of hair on the dogs, cut the nails and asked for a teddy bear shape on the face. From the onset, the groomers had so much attitude and arrogance while we were explaining what we wanted. Acting like they knew exactly what to do and telling us to put “summer cut” down as what we wanted. At some point they called us to the back to confirm the length of her hair, we were satisfied with what we had seen at the time. Our Yorkie came out shaved all the way down with not even a cm of hair on a body. Her underbelly was clean shaven, skin dry and flaky. Her face was extremely choppy. Both dogs did not get their nails cut, although it was charged. When explaining we were not happy with the service as it was not what we wanted, they flipped the story and supplied us with a plethora of excuses. They stated that we got what we asked for, which was a summer cut. They told us someone else messed up our Yorkies face shape, and they tried to fix it. It felt like we were speaking to friends, the informality of their service was absolutely shocking. I wanted my money back. This was when the undermining comments came. One lady said “are you happy now that you’re getting your money back”. They only gave us about a 30% discount for our Yorkie after a long back and forth of undermining and belittling. I am never going back there again. I hope something is done about the arrogance of the groomers. I hope a manager can be contacted about this as when I asked for the number of the manager, they told us they did not have a number to supply.

Not sure if theyve changed staff yet, but staff seem to have an air about themselves, they laugh at u when u ask questions and act like they the eish. Also took my cat to get groomed there a few times, and because she was scared and hissing they thought it was so funny, once they called all the staff to come in and look and laugh at her. As the staff walked out the grooming room, they laughed and were saying things like vampire and were hissing.that was it for me, I never stepped foot in that store again. This happened a year or two ago, i regret ever putting my cat throygh that. I still feel guilty to this day. I remember when I brought her home how petrified she was after. Im not one to start fights with people, or complain like a karen. I hope the staff has changed or atleast trained to understand that they are there to help people not laugh at them when they ask for help. My bf also had a similar experience when he got a new puppy and asked for help on what to do, they laughed at him with an attitude. Long story short, don't ever take your cat there and I'd avoid asking the staff for help, just take what u need and go. Hate this pet store! I just looked at other recent reviews now and I see the same eish is still going on. Seriously guys change your groomers and train your staff to be polite and helpful, not all of us are pet experts. They need to drop their ego levels down a notch

I recently visited the Family Pet Centre to have my dog washed, and I must say, it was a wonderful experience. The lady who booked my dog in was not only friendly but also extremely professional. She took the time to listen to my specific requests and made sure to note down any special instructions. Her knowledge and expertise were evident as she asked relevant questions about my dog's breed and coat type, ensuring that the wash would be tailored to her needs. Throughout the process, I could tell that my dog was in good hands. What impressed me the most about the Family Pet Centre was the level of professionalism they displayed. I highly recommend the Family Pet Centre for anyone looking for a professional and friendly place to have their pet washed or groomed. I will definitely be returning for future pet care needs.

One of the most disgusting groomers to exist. Destroyed my pups nails, needing an emergency visit to the vet. Pulled the entire nail off and failed to let me know. Only found out once I arrived at home and noticed him limping. Called their vet before closing time and mentioned what happened to be told that their vet is leaving (they were closing in an hour) I asked for a manager to call me the day after, which didn't happen. Called in the next day, somehow still no manager on duty. But they said the manager would call me the next day. This looped for 2 or 3 days. Finally my wife got hold of the manager and they tried to pull the pity card and got the groomer to read from a script apologizing on behalf of the grooming team. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABIES HERE!

Had a little turn off when I purchased hamster food end of July 2020, however, upon 2 days after the purchase, I saw that the food had expired 4 months ago. I was immediately assisted with a solution and a sincere apology from the branch in Fourways. Tanya (or however you spell it) was so competent and extremely humble. She knew her products and pets REALLY well and she was so friendly to me. She updated me on all the products on the shelf and gave me so much assurance that I had to change my attitude towards the pet store and its reputation. Thank you for resolving the complaint I made Family Pet Centre! I'm so pleased with my hamsters, they're too adorable, thank you once again for giving me the opportunity to have them in my care xx

There isn't a zero. I would give you zero if I could. I have gone into your store a few times over the past few months to see the poor young Macaw bird. This poor bird looks like it is in tatters. You say your motto is "we pride ourselves on being the centre point for all animal lovers". That is not what I observe about this store and your attitude. What a disastrous state you keep this poor bird in. What an utter disgrace you are as a pet institution. There is no way on green earth that anyone is going to pay that exorbitant price (not to mention the cost of accessories). It appears the poor bird will die before anyone pays a cent for it. Shame on you, SHAME ON YOU!

On Monday I purchased two fish and came to the realization that both fish were lethargic and had no appetite and with no surprise i phoned multiple times to notify them that the fish were sick and possibly the fish with them aswell just for the phone to be put down on me or it just rings. I am completely disappointed at the work ethic. Unfortunately one of them had infected my two other fish who i have had for months then succumbed to the sickness. Both the fish I purchased on Monday were in separate tanks and had different illnesses, So in conclusion because of the sick fish they sold me, I lost all my fish .

Amazing and friendly staff. Got my cat groomed here and they are by far the best cat groomers I’ve come across in Jhb. They were patient with my baby and did everything I asked them to do happily. Cats are definitely not the easiest to groom but they did an amazing job and price was reasonable compared to other groomers I’ve been to. Cherry on the top was the free coffee and that they open on Sundays for grooming. Keep it up guys! Thank you for your service, my Kitty cat is super happy with his hair cut. I love your store too! Great variety of products for any house pet.

From big to small, from fish to cats, from snakes to on-site doggie-playpen, from treats to on-site pet parlour, from hamsters to a vet on-site and everything in between. If you need anything for your beloved pet then this is the establishment for you(and your pet of course ). The staff are friendly and helpful. The establishment is spotless and it smells really good. They have a wide variety of products and various brands to choose from. Wouldn’t think twice about supporting this establishment!

Staff in store are not very helpful as they always just stand and chat to each other and I always have to bring a sick fish to their attention. Most fish are fairly priced but their Siamese fighter betta fish are exorbitantly expensive. I can import bettas from their suppliers through other shops for half the price. I would love to support them as they have stunning fish but R900 for an average betta they claim is A GRADE is ridiculous.

This is quiet an extensive pet store with a range fresh water fish including kois for your pond, reptiles like snakes and bearded dragons, small animals like hamsters, rabbits, chinchillas and birds. There is also a vet there with reasonable consulting rates and a pet parlour The manager at the store is very friendly and helpful and so are the staff. There is one slightly grumpy helper guy there but haven't seen him for ages.

After our Scottish Terrier had the absolute worst grooming experience of his life at another groomer - we had a wonderful experience yesterday at Family Pet Centre. He was groomed exactly as we asked and he looked so proud of his hair cut. Thank you so much for your friendly staff and awesome care for our fur babies. We will definitely be back.

Staff friendly, helpful, and know their products. I needed some advice on dog clippers and they went to call the dog groomer and the lady I honestly believed gave me the best advice... This is however a challenging field as not all pet stores do sell proper Clippers for large breeds... So the guidance we're much appreciated

I was just window shopping and found this place for pet lovers. One stop shop for all your pet's needs. Hamsters, fish, spiders, birds, rabbits, lizards and even snakes. They got it if you want to buy one. Most impressive was their fish collection. I almost forgot the friendly staff. Ever so helpful.

So wonderful to enter a pet store that is well laid out - they have fantastic variety covering almost all pet types. There's an on-site vet and doggy parlor with a coffee shop attached. The staff are very knowledgeable about their sections and a pleasure to deal with. A 10 star experience!

I always find what I need for all our pets here. One stop shop. Their loyalty points system offers me great savings. I can buy single Hills sachets here where everywhere else I'm forced to buy a whole box... their teams are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the products.
