This is pretty bad. One day you will find parking-one day. That will be the day when someone hasnt double parked or when a govvie decides he/she doesnt want to wake out of bed in the morning. For such a small parking area, I do not understand how they come up with the designated parking for government workers and the handicapped. Its almost like metro isnt considering any thresholds or the increasing population at all. Additional apartments and condos are going up, but the metro parking situation is staying the same. Watch my photos for a lovely double parking job. It was the highlight of my morning lol.
I was having trouble with my smart trip and it see to talk to the station manager. First, she saw me there patiently waiting and she continued to gossip with her co-worker inside the booth. Didn’t even have the courtesy to tell me to give her a minute. She didn’t even attempt to check my card or anything. She just told me to contact metro in a very rude tone. I don’t understand why you guys hire unpleasant people to work in a public place. She was African American with lashes , and a pointy tail , late 50s , voice raspy like she’s a smoker.
one of the better transfer stations in the Metro system. you're not stuck in the deep, dark tunnels of underground as you're fully above ground upstairs «red line» and the downstairs «green line» is open cut. however if it's windy or cold outside your butt is getting slammed w/out mercy. while sometimes making the mad rush up or downstairs can be hectic, it's usually no where as crowded as Gallery Place or other transfer places in the Metro.
Very busy during rush hour and not clean at all. There is not very good customer service but the fairgates and escalators work completely fine. Trains are usually not late, maybe slight delays and there is connection to busses outside in the bus bay. The red, green, and yellow stop here and this big station, with red being on the higher level and green and yellow being on the lower level. I guess it deserves a 3 star so yea.
Fort Totten Metro Station accommodates Red Line, Green Line, and Yellow Line trains and is perhaps less manic that other "intersection" points on the line. Architecture is in line with the rest of the Metro system, and Fort Totten is an appealing stop for day trippers and tourists - President Lincoln Cottage, St John Paul ll National Shrine, Rock Creek US National Cemetery are all within a short distance of the station.
The parking was great as mentioned but I don't know why 4 employees were sitting in a booth when there are travelers other than myself, who needed assistance. They refused to budge even when the purchased smart card wasn't scanning. They finally (and true to being lazy) clicked the button on the gate to let me go through, sitting in the chair as if lounging. Grab some work ethic while your at it!
This is the station I use most frequently and can vouch for the safety and cleanliness (especially considering the amount of traffic it gets!) however at night or after dark you should stay on sidewalks and well lit paths as there have been reports of assaults and robberies in the area as can happen anywhere of course do not allow yourself to be vulnerable to thieves.
Outdoor three-level metro stop at the intersection of the Red, Green, and Yellow Lines, which is great. It desperately needs more development around the metro itself though. As it is, it's just surrounded by parking lots and a 7-Eleven, which is just pitiful. There's a new development coming up down the block, but it won't arrive until late 2016 earliest.
Fort Totten is a great station, unfortunately I have to take awa some stars because you recently added security on the platforms, which seemed to be great being a retired police officer all for it except the fact that armed officers with air pods in there ears and cell phones in there hands gun side is a added risk to everyone.
This station is served by the red line in one side and on the lower level you can catch a train on the green or yellow line. It can get very busy at times but is really nice at it has a lot of natural light. Not so great in a cold day as it is an outside station.
When you ride buses and the bus drivers always as where you live at and do you got a man why you on here. And if you don’t me nice and flirt back then they will drive pass you next time. Bus 3236
Decent metro station. Not much to complain. However neighborhood is shady. Seems not too safe after dark. It has adjacent bus stop connecting several regions to Fort Totten metro station.
Cleanliness is not looking good Metro station is dirty bus sheds are ditty not appealing I have to watch where I step sorry to say some power washing would help very much Thank you
This station smells like weed (like, a lot) and you can wait for a train for a long time if it’s off-peak hours. I don’t feel very secure at this station and it isn’t very clean.
Convenient location to where we stayed. Safe during day light hours. But poorly maintained, every time it rains escalators got wet, dirty escalators and metro.
Quite busy but very peaceful. There are several buses leaving while others are coming, same as several people entering the train while others are coming out.
3 lines (Red, Yellow, Green) connecting Station , and Metro Bus to Silver Spring suburbs and outlying areas such as White Oak and New Hampshire Ave.
It can b a lil ratchet even it wanna but it's a major transfer spot on da metro & another landmark 4 folks whom visit or r from here.
Parking can be overwhelming and confusing. That's the only bad thing about this place. Police make you feel comfortable. Very clean
Fort Totten gets 5 stars because it is a transfer station. And the station usually have police officers on patrol for our safety.
They can try to make the area more appealing for others to sit a breath good air with the appetite to eat or drink.
Great for parking within DC and it offers some relief to the Always crowded red line with the option to transfer.
Parking available but fills up quickly in the mornings. Well maintained Metro stop, feels safer than others.
Good place to commute between metro lines green, yellow, and red instead Gallery place-Chinatown
I always look for clean: -good and clean metro with access. Fort Totten is very good for this.
Not busy the time that I passed thru. The service rep at the station was very helpful
runs on schedule always cabs waiting and always a police presence. …
Excellent metro station for switching to red, yellow or green line service!!!
Nothing like a 20 minute headway in a station with feces on the platform...
Great station managers. Trains are normally late. Love the cleanliness.
Dc metro sucks ! Waited for a train for almost an hour Saturday morning
Always been good and the metro attendance are polite and super helpful
Very nice ride on train to the Walmart on Riggs Rd. N.E. Wash.D.C.
Clean station with lots of room to maneuver when switching trains.
My friend Abdullah Syed is living just beside this Metro Stop.
Great parking location to take the metro into the city
Dirty but with new leadership hopefully getting better
There's "always" an escalator that is malfunctioning.
Por q lo uso diario y nunca gracias a Dios todo bien
Parking lot is a little difficult to find at first
Was busy as always while waiting for the train
Customers not allowed to use the restroom
not very many people. foot traffic was ok
Trains running every 25 to 30 minutes
Muy limpia la estación....todo bien.
WE NEED THE RED LINE MORE EARLY
Convenient and Well Labeled
Really Interesting Stop....
Probably not on fire today.
