"This is a fantastic bike shop offering wonderful local service"
Absolutely fantastic local business. The one bicycle shop that can be counted on. Staff go above and beyond for their customers. They are a Sandgate institution. Being around for over 80 years helps. My father used Hoffy Cycles to help him convert his bike into a bike run on petrol years ago. My sister used Hoffy Cycles for all her biking needs when she lived in the area and when I was talking about getting a bike for my daughter and myself she recommended that I "go speak to Maree at the bike shop in Sandgate." So, when I decided to buy my daughter her bicycle so we could ride to Sandgate for school, that is where I went. I tell a lie here as I actually did go to a chain bicycle shop first but staff were not helpful at all. Hoffy Cycles havr a great range of bikes, accessories and services. They even have parts that are hard to find and help novice uses as well as professionals. Amélie had never ridden a bike until I went here in June to get get her one. Before I purchased her bike, I asked for advice from Maree who told me she didn't think that she would need training wheels. Maree talked to us about options, gave extremely helpful information and even gave me tips on how to teach Amélie to ride. She even delivered her bike to my house as she knew that I use public transport and would find it hard to get home! Not only did Hoffy Cycles gave us advive on different types of bikes available but the shop accepted layby which is something not a lot of places continue to do these days (other places would rather you put yourself in debt ). That helped me as if I had to save to buy I'd unwittingly spend the money. I was able to layby my daughter's first bike and then layby my own. Hoffy Cycles have a great range of bikes on display and can also order your bikes in. My bike was ordered and I got advice better than I expected on the additions I wanted for it. I knew I wanted a commuter bike that had a basket. A range of baskets and options were available to me. Without any pressure I was shown options that would be suitable and ended up getting a rack that holds not one but two removable shopping baskets. Maree even explained why baskets at the back and lower to the ground were a better option for balance. I was going to originally buy a trike. And was convinced it would be better for my age and ability (fibromylagia is my curse and arthritis in my knees)... however the advice I was given was thoughtful and constructive. Maree wasn't the only staff member I spoke to. Kurt explained all the different bikes to me. Explained how and why different tyre widths worked and assisted me several times. I am positive that I was a frustrating customer as I went in several times of the course of three weeks asking questions about different options before deciding. Never once while I was in the process of deciding was I pressured to purchase and staff were extremely patient and forthcoming with me and my endless questions. They even helper explain to my teenage son why he should pump his tyres more (as he wasn't listening to me!). As I learn, I've been ensured that they will support me with my biking needs. Maree eveb said she'd explain why, when, and how to maintain my bike. I am extremely happy with the service that Hoffy Cycles have provided me and my family and I would recommend them to everyone and anyone who has bike needs.
Went there to buy my first new bike since I was 7, and I must admit I was extremely disappointed. My father was very good friends with Mr hoffy the original owner of the bike shop up until he sold the business. So it was a natural choice for me to go there to buy a bike. When I told the lady I was interested in buying a new bike, possibly a mountain bike or a hybrid, I was told I would be better to go to Big W or Kmart as they would have bikes more suites to my budget and that the bike shop would need to do a bio fitting and it alone would cost me $100 alone and I probably couldn't afford that. Well I could have said a lot and made a fool of myself, but I thought better of it. I was prepared to spend $2k on a bike, but the woman's attitude towards me who she had never met before was enough for me never to go back there. Treating people like that won't ever get you anywhere or the business you need.
The best bike shop in Brisbane. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. No high pressure sales just honest and upfront help and service. Don't even bother taking your bike to one of the big chain stores when you can take it here. It's just across the road from the Sandgate train station, which is great if you are like me and have to take your bike apart to fit it in the car. My bike came back from it's service so much better than it was when I picked it up new from the big box store. The prices are very very reasonable and the turn around time was great. I like to shop at small local businesses and this place is a great example of why.
Had a lovely encounter at Hoffy's today. They were busy and couldn't service my son's bike but they took a quick look over it and gave me some advices. My baby was asleep in the car so the owner did all this on the street near my car so I didn't need to disturb my baby. Sooo friendly, helpful and above and beyond customer service. I can totally understand why they are busy. So lucky to have quality shops such as this in our community. Thank you for your kindness.
This is a fantastic bike shop offering wonderful local service. They're amazingly friendly and their workshop is absolutely standout for bike servicing, repairs and maintenance. They have a good range of bikes for sale, plus accessories, but if they don't have something in stock they always seem more than happy to source what I'm looking for. I've known the owner of this business for many years now and I can't recommend them enough.
I had Hoffy Cycles give my bike a much needed service and carry out some minor repairs due to not being ridden for some time. They did an awesome job cleaning my bike up, with some new components. It's like a new bike, and rides like one. And very affordable due to the work that it needed. Supporting a local business.....
Awesome service and a wealth of knowledge which you will not get in the newer bike shops. If you want quality and peace of mind support these guys as you be very surprised at what they can offer value wise. Thanks heaps for helping me out with part's for my 1995 Norco road bike. Cheers Dirk.
Mate had a flat tyre, we go in and the lady is just incredibly rude, we buy a new inner tyre and she refuses to give us tools saying it will put her out of business, after a few arguments we are allowed to change the tyre. Really bad experience would not recommend
Always friendly and knowledgeable. Marie has solved a few problems that the other local bike shops could not solve. It's experience and knowledge that puts hoffys above the rest. Thanks for reading
81$ for a flat tyre (tube change). And brake adjustments that I didn't ask for. Too expensive. 3 stars because they fixed it without a booking on the spot. Otherwise would be 2 stars.
Probably the most unhelpful staff I've ever come across. "Can't help you, won't be able to for 3 weeks, maybe get an Uber home". Wouldn't recommend anyone to stop in here....ever!!!!
Great place for custom parts- these guys still stock stuff for Dragsters! Amazing product range, helpful, friendly staff. Always a pleasure doing business here.
Excellent customer service. We were served by a lovely lady who knew exactly what we needed and was kind and thoughtful.
Polite, friendly and helpful service. Pricing is good with quality customer service. They had on hand what I needed.
A very helpful woman took time to help me fix my bike...customer service plus I was super impressed. …
Horrible experience rude customer service, more of a shop for repairs as they do a great job for that
Fantastic, friendly professional service, thank you Hoffy Cycles for getting my son back on the road.
These people can not do enough for you. Such a pleasure to come across a lovely local owned business.
