I was in New Orleans for a conference and a friend reminded me Ignacious was pretty close to where I was staying. So on my lunch break I ventured out into the city. I was traveling alone so i walked to Ignacious using Google maps, the directions were good and I got to see some amazing architecture on my adventure. On my walk I got to take in the bustle of the city, listen to music, watch the trolley, and explore. Upon locating Ignacious I was thrilled and the book nerd inside of me was STOKED! I took my picture with Ignacious and turned around to take in the view he has each day. Please, visit Ignacious and take a moment to appreciate all that is around you...
I love Confederacy of Dunces! I got the book as a gift a week before going to New Orleans and had to see Ignatius on my trip. It was so much fun reading the book and experiencing all of those details in the city. The statue was wonderful. The only problem is that they have a chain like fence in front of the statue so you have to go in from the side to see all the details. Makes it really hard to take a front-view photo of the statue.
Most people who have not read Confederacy of Dunces would never understand. Most that are not from New Orleans and have read the book still don’t. Mom would shop on Canal Street and if the kids wanted to wander off we were always told to meet up under “The Clock” at D.H. Homes Department Store. This statue of Ignatius J. Reilly is a great reminder of a happy time.

Love love Ignatius and Confederacy of Dunces! So much so that my daughter named her 1st son Ignatius. I was very excited to return to Nawlins to see the statue, but should have done it during daytime. The amount of homeless laying around was alarming! It'd would be 5 stars if these folks could be relocated to more humane conditions.
This statue is a must see in New Orleans, because Ignatius J Reilly was a character from the book, A Confederacy Of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, about an outcast in New Orleans.

It's a statue. It looks exactly like Ignatius is described in the book. You can take a picture with it.

The statue is back in an alcove, so it makes it easy to get a good picture.

Me pareció ver a Ignatius con un carro de salchichas; renegando de Myrna!
The location is actually on Canal not Iberville as the map suggests.
Un livre à lire absolument, il prend vie dans les rues de NOLA
Great statue commemorating a great book!
Best neckbeard statue ever!
Worth the two hour flight!
