I finished Year 12 at Indooroopilly State High in 1973 (commenced Yr 8 in 1969) .Despite the era of discipline using the "cuts", french berets and gloves for the girls in winter, no school library, compulsory domestic science for girls, woodwork for boys etc etc Indooroopilly High even then was the most progressive high school in Queensland. In 1972, when I was in Year 11, the Principal ( male, of course then! ) and Vice Principal ( female, of course!) established a student council, certainly to help tone down the ripples of the post Woodstock era and the growing overtones of the loud and unavoidable 1970's......I was elected as the girl rep for my year level. Our main idea was to abolish school uniforms in Queensland.. we had a number of meetings with interested schools in Brisbane. Amazing how we managed to contact each other...no mobile phones, internet etc.. just land lines and fliers, posters ! However soon the only other interested school was Kelvin Grove and it too soon didn't attend...eventually the Council just met to drink and smoke dope! and I was a school prefect and almost straight 7 student academically! ! ! I left school to commence Uni and completely forgot the uniform issue. Only ever remembered how the teachers were mainly progressive in their methods....an inspiring economics teacher rode his bike to work, even though in those times men wore dress shorts, long socks with shoes and shirt, ties... he was a member of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP)...he taught not just from a text book as was the norm, but used the new first national newspaper The Australian ! The geography teacher took us to Stradbroke to learn about the problems with sand mining..and the english teacher even asked us to an intellectual ?? party at her house....So it was to my great surprise to see decades later that the no uniform policy did eventuate and Kelvin Grove, even though it chose a more progressive name, had not embraced the no uniform policy. However progress SHOULDN'T include allowing the public to use the School grounds for their dogs to wander and play OFF the leash..even if just after school finishes....it is contrary to the Brisbane City Council's safety regulations !!! and children who are allowed to participate, usually at their parents' consent, are at risk... The Principal is allowed to have this policy as the Education Department is, of course, State Government and permits the Principal to decide .....this, unlike the stories and compliments I have shared is STUPID progress ! shame Principal !!
We live in the area and think this is a great school. Spent many years exploring our options (St Peters, Brigidine, BBC, Corinda, Kenmore, State High) and eldest went to Brisbane State High and others went to Indro. We can say the teachers are AMAZING and really care about the kids as individuals on a life journey. The school follows a non-uniform policy (like high schools overseas) to encourage students to make decisions and live like adults (within a modest dress code). The students are very well supported and the results speak for themselves. More importantly, students get a deeper understanding of life from a rich tapestry of our multi-cultural society. Our students all got their first preferences and are passing (degree in-progress) or graduated (pay attention to the drop-out rate at uni of students from private schools). We saved the private high school fees and can support our kids through tertiary, on overseas holidays and with a house deposit! Sad to read the other reviews - but I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Mordekaiser has really struggled in the recent patch due to the prevalence of hard engagers like Yasuo, Gangplank and Kindred. In order to successfully play morde you will need to master a couple of things such as playing safe for the first few levels and avoiding fights until you hit your mid game power spike. During the mid game focus on split pushing and securing objectives utilizing your strong dueling potential to fend off enemy's that try to stop you. Nearing 25 minutes you should be looking to group with your team for a strong 5v5 engage pressuring objectives around the map. When entering late game you should avoid fighting when your ult is on cool down as you can be easily kited by the enemy ad carry. During the final team fights of the game your main goal is peeling for the adc carry as if they die there will be little chance you win the fight.
Best teachers and best schooling experience possible. Lots of support available for those who ask for it, a wide variety of students which provides the opportunity to meet some amazing people. The support promotes students to develop a sense of individuality, through providing great art programs and having a free dress code. The teachers are amazing, especially Miss Bell, Mr Herberg and Mr Rolandson, and were so supportive all throughout my school career. I highly recommend this school to anyone. It often gets a bad rap from competing schools or from people who only see the kids who ditch school to go to the shopping centre, but every school has a bad side or pupils that let it down. As a whole I couldn't imagine a better high school to go to, and definitely help in creating the success adult that I am today.
A few notable points; (1)The IB program is pretty good. The school doesnt offer a diverse range of electives (within ib) but there is an option to opt for substitute online courses. (2)In general, the teaching styles are very diverse and you will most likely find a specific type you learn better in. (3)A very old school and while that has its downs' it's very memorable and gives the true queenslander vibe. (4)There is diversity throughout all cohorts. (5)Really good with some courses but some need to be updated/reformed (business). Overall, kids have a high chance of enjoying their highschool life here, both in basic to high academic pursuit. A nice blend.
If you see a bully called Alex Mack here, do not listen to his illegal slander. It is unfunny, makes ouchy feelings and I need you all to NOT like his posts here. He is attempting to foil my plans in conquering the school with my magical potions from toilets (this is why they are smelly, it is my repellent to stop the government from interrupting my alchemy). I am rating my lab here in Kenmore 5 stars as the rooms here in G block have many customers for my magic potions which people like you call "vapes". I suggest not using these "vapes" I am creating in these toilets as they are apparently harmful because of the products I am using in the toilets.
Well, I sent my younger son to both Indooroopilly and St Peters. I would not recommend St Peter's. Indooroopilly however provided dedicated interested teachers who were actually motivated to help their students to do well. The Head of School and the admin at the time were helpful and mostly efficient. My son graduated with good marks which were largely his own work (once he woke up and started working) but were also a credit to all those Indooroopilly teachers who guided him. Who helped him. Who understood what he needed and when he needed it. I hope the school has continued in this tradition.
Well, it’s not what you would expect from a high school. The people there are very nice, as well as the teachers. I actually really liked this school. The school community is beautiful, and when they find an issue they fix it. I do have a couple of nitpicks, though. The food at the vending machine and tuckshop is WAY overpriced. It’s 4.50$ for a single roll of sushi. FAR too expensive. There’s even more stuff that isn’t worth it at all there. Also, a lot of the kids there vape. It’s a really bad issue, but the school is cracking down on it. Overall, good school. Would definitely recommend.
Indro was a really good school for the time I went there. The majority of the people were really nice **UPSIDES** - The tuckshop is relatively well priced in comparison to other schools ($2.50 for noodles) - The school looks really nice - Majority of the teachers are very nice (not ms s*****land) - Interesting subjects **DOWNSIDES** - ms s*****land - a bunch of eshays - a lot of the kids vape there Overall, the school is really good and honestly the downsides aren't a big deal. Loved the time I had there (mostly).
i go to toilet and i go tie shoe and oh no little pp in my bum bum ouchy. i will go chemistry class so i can become oppenheimer and drop nuclear poo poo in state of the art chem flask, my annoying teacher will help me recover because they are very helpful and this school! :thumbs_up. please send your little child here they will be very welcomed SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE, i hope by conveying this message i do not get kicked out of art school ;) (reference) p.s. i also see the hamburger crows
This school is a State school in Indooropilly, Taringa and St Lucia cacthment area. It has a very wide site to accommodate junior to senior highschool students. There are some sport fields and seperated buildings with classes inside. When I came to the administration office, a staff welcomed me and my family politely. While we were waiting for the assesment of my son, they served us with delicious cups of milk tea. All of the staffs were also friendly and made us so much convienience.
its an ok school the teachers are really good and put a lot of work into education the students , but the school has wayyy to many students compared to how big the school grounds are to the point where it is hard to get to and from classes. another reason i would not recommend this school is i was punched in the face and and the school did nothing about it.
some dude named Junior A LFO is an unfunny Bozzo that decides to use all the toilets to create potions for his "magical spells" that he will "conquer the school" with. these potions are getting out of hand. unlike that foolish behaviour i have decided to conquer the school by using all the toilet paper to mummy myself and eat the principal
This school is absolutely amazing!! It offers so many opportunities for students and all the kids there are very friendly and accepting. Most of the teachers are great and really helpful. They are always pushing me to do my best. I had the choice to go to State High, Kenmore or Indro and I chose indro. So glad I did.
good school in general tuckshop quite expensive (like wth $5 for a ice tea?) lots of eshay bahs, kids who vape and weird popular loud kids on the school bus. overall good opportunities tho like ski trip and un day very enjoyable school with few things they could fix up
I saw a crow with a hamburger house. The most beautiful thing seen. He changed my life forever because he spoke many languages other than mine. The next day I came back and he was gone. Goodbye, see you when you die. I will be your last thought... never forget
Great public high school with good indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, especially with a modern indoor sports hall with 3 basketball courts. This is a coed school with no uniform (free dress) which is unique for Brisbane public schools.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school, loved the subjects I did and really connected with some of my teachers. Bit crowded but the school is providing more resources to combat this. Film room is so awesome.
Make sure the teacher's don't groom your kids. A lovely lady teacher who takes extra special care of her pupils...School knew and parents found out via their children and social media. Gross.
Great international community. Exceptional teaching quality with constantly updated curriculum. Probably the only school in Queensland that does not require uniform, too.
I am sad to say they took the rooting eyeball goop stuck to the ceiling down it was sad to walk past D10 and not see it any more I feel betrayed by the school
The best teachers who are genuinely dedicated to their profession and always try their best to help you excel in whatever you are studying.
How many hamburgers has the hamburgerlar stolen? i guess we'll never know. personally it reckon it could be in the hundreds of thousands.
I love this place, send youR kids here now, they will 100% keep them sAfe and Protect the from any missals, love the tEachers as well.
Am găsit odată un om destul de mic într-un coș. avea aproximativ 3 cm înălțime și nu vorbea corect. Tuckshop-ul este foarte scump.
Its a great school with good education. Some of the teachers arent as good as others. Easy to make friends and good resources
murder, a murder of the school possum out side of e block, the terrible smell solved but the possum case is still open
The musicals are great fun to watch and to be in. Amazing teachers and facilities. Can be really crowded sometimes.
very good school many eshay bah’s but you learn to laugh at them like ‘HAHAHA’ with a little less enthusiasm ig
All three of my children have gone to Indro, and we love the school, the staff and the community here.
So many obnoxious teachers and students here, bad school don't waste time going here, its terrible
Great School Environment. Teachers are great. Committed to helping students excel in studies.
very good, only took 4 minutes to steal kid, was never caught! 10/10 would kidnap again
Ain't no body got time for that. Spent 2 terms trying to sell coffee. Waste of time.
this was my first day of Indooropilly SHS!!!! I LOVE THE TEACHERS AND CLASSES
