"Doesn't seem like the nicest environment for animals - all small pets and birds are kept in the same room, and the noise level from the birds is enough to give anyone a headache! Rabbits seem withdrawn (probably sick of the constant screeching noise - they have acute hearing as prey animals and this can't be good for them!) and the guinea pigs couldn't run away quick enough"
"Walked into this store, and felt as if my soul was ripped out of my body"
I went into this store with an open mind after hearing poor reviews from others in order to judge for myself whilst browsing for products for a pet mouse. Firstly I would like to state that the animals were clean and generally looked healthy. I had no major issues with this. Additionally they had some unusual and difficult-to-get-hold-of products that I have only seen online. An example is a water bottle holder for a large water bottle, which unfortunately I needed last year but couldn't get. Oh well at least I know where to get one now. Some sections had a lot of choice too it appeared. However, the main thing I couldn't come to terms with, and the reason my rating is so low, is that there were A LOT of products in the small animal isle which I considered wholly inappropriate for any species of small animal. I did not assess the products elsewhere as that was not the section I was browsing in so it would not be fair of me to comment. The smallest wheels on sale would barely fit a Chinese hamster in, let alone give it enough space to run without curving it's back and causing potential pain and discomfort. It was barely bigger than a donut. There were hamster cages on display too that I wouldn't keep a the world's smallest shrew in let alone a hamster. Totally inappropriate in my opinion. There were no hide/bed products that I found that would fit a large Syrian hamster in it, so there was a real risk that an animal could get stuck in it. The fact that they did not have some products large enough was evident in the choice of hides for animals on display. Upside down dog beds served for guinea pigs I think (I didn't see the guinea pigs under there though so I assumed it was for guinea pigs) and I am not sure what the bed for the gerbils was made of but it looked like a giant rat wheel on it's side. Overall presentation in the store wasn't great. Lots of empty shelf space and products not really categorised well. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to shop there, but I would recommend that you research your pet first as you could easily buy something here that is not good for your pet. My advice to customers: Please shop here with care. My advice to the owners: Please stock more appropriate products.
Would NOT recommend people purchase animals from this store!! Myself and my partner purchased a bearded dragon ( 7 weeks old ) from here and we both have never owned one before. We purchased a 2ft Vivarium and everything that we needed. The store gave us 1 sheet of paper on “ How to care “ ... However, the store did NOT highlight sections that need to be recognised to look after this animal. After 4 months of owning Cesar our beardie, he has low vitamin deficiency due to the store not telling us we need a UV bulb and this can cause many health problems for the lizard. The crickets and grasshoppers we have purchased before have been bad quality. Not only that, we own 3 fish tanks and in previous visits of purchasing fish, the fish ALWAYS have a health problem. Whether it be white spot, parasites or even fin rot. We went last week to purchase a plastic sheet covering for my partners cold water tank, so she had a lid of some sort. We was served by a foreign man, who I’d asked where the item was so I could purchase it. It took him less than 2 minutes to become annoyed by us asking where it was, he even tutted at us and snatched the item out of my partners hand. ALL the tanks are over priced! 8/10 chance there is a dead fish or a fish suffering from water conditions in the tanks. The man who runs the fish downstairs is always miserable and if it’s not him, it’s the grumpy grandad who likes to shout at children - Who of which are only looking at the fish. I strongly think that this shop needs new management and needs to come to realisation that things NEED to change - Windows are smashed outside. For customers benefit and the animals! The owner has lost his license to keep animals by the law and clearly whoever owns it is following that sad path to failure of running this shop. Very disappointing and staff and service for the animals need to change! If you do buy animals from here, you’re practically rescuing them from these horrible conditions!!
AVOID!!!! Bought a 22 litre fish tank for £89.99 (over priced, and when asked for a refund got told no basically) got home with this tank only to find it’s not a 22 letter but round about 17 litre as 16 almost filled it and adding another litre overfilled it, the pump doesn’t work and I’m sure it has parts missing as it doesn’t fit together right, the light also has stopped working for some reason, it looks like it was made with cheap materials. When in the shop 2 people just sanding around the counter swearing and talking about burying someone alive after smashing someone’s face in (do they work for you ?? ) not what you want to hear when waiting to been served. The staff where also rude and looked at you as if they didn’t want you to bother them or even be on the shop, this is not how you run a business I have reported the shop to trade and standards and have been advised they will look into this, I have reported the building to the council as they were many unsafe points and should not be open to the public until theses issues are fix, I have also reported the 2 idiots at the counter to the police. I will be informing everyone to avoid this place after my experience what a joke!!!!
Doesn't seem like the nicest environment for animals - all small pets and birds are kept in the same room, and the noise level from the birds is enough to give anyone a headache! Rabbits seem withdrawn (probably sick of the constant screeching noise - they have acute hearing as prey animals and this can't be good for them!) and the guinea pigs couldn't run away quick enough. I doubt there is any human contact with any of these sociable, intelligent animals, and no fresh food in sight. (The muesli mix they're fed with is actually bad for their teeth, too.) I was met with hostility by the birds - some parakeets tried to find a place to hide in their cages while others were shaking and screeching at me. An uneasy environment with seemingly nervous animals. Very sad. The stock in the shop is good and varied, though staff seem unenthused. It would be much better if animals were kept in a few separate rooms for their own well-being!! This shop has the potential to be a great place but it seems that the owners have better knowledge of retail than animal care, and are using the cheapest means possible to keep them going. Wish I could have taken them all home :(!
Walked into this store, and felt as if my soul was ripped out of my body. That atmosphere is shocking, so quiet I could hear the dead animals that died of boredom booing in the air of this godforsaken pet store. The smell of the store is absolutely rancid, the plants look as if they’re fighting for their life even though they’re artificial, the animals that unfortunately ended up in there look sad and depressed. The only thing thriving in that store is the black mould on the walls. Not to mention the water damage on the stock, along with the store having little to no shelves, having to place their items on the floor, along with having to spread it out to look as if the shelves are full. I’m appalled at the condition of this store. Flies inside fish tanks they’re selling, cigarette buds on the stairs that were built in the 80’s and stuck together with toothpaste. One gust of wind and that store is falling apart. The only good thing I can say about living (dying) world is the pets have toys etc, but it’s not enough to give this rating a higher star than one.
This shop is getting worse windows all smashed. No disabled access plus the steps are disgusting unwanted takeaway thrown onto them wouldn’t take much to remove it. The staff are paid for standing about doing nothing they didn’t ask if we needed any help or even say good morning when we went in. The only staff member who was friendly was the young lady in the bird part she answered our questions this made us feel she really cared for the animals in her care. I went in to buy fish tank artificial plants and wood they are reasonably priced but would never buy fish the last time I went downstairs the tanks were disgusting dirty and full of algae I have never see the man in charge cleaning any of the tanks.he just stands reading a newspaper. The shop smells it’s dirty and mouldy with stuff just strew everywhere.i don’t know who owns this shop but he should be ashamed at the state of it. I remember when it first opened it was amazing oh how its gone down hill. I’m amazed they have not been closed down years ago it’s a shame it could be made amazing once more.
I visited with a total open mind and was a regular customer here 20 years ago and had read recent reviews good and bad. Any mention mouldy smells had gone drowned out by cheep air fresheners but at least they have tried. The aquarium store upstairs has a really good selection of anything and everything you could ever need at slightly higher price than others but can be forgiven for the vast choices in goods. Now to downstairs aquarium wow. It’s terrible it’s dated the tanks are filthy and unkept it’s impossible to get service with out asking. Why on earth would you sell fish or keep fish in such conditions to be honest it should not be allowed. I would not take a fish if it where to be given to me the fish are drab and and tired every other tank had dead or unwell fish in it if your looking to buy equipment all good and worth a look if you wanting fresh fish or plants avoid at it totally sorry. I don’t like giving bad reviews but this place needs revamping or closing unfair on live stock.
Very run down and pure filth on the front entrance! This can only be the staff because it’s up very steep steps, so if you find stairs hard or if you’re in a wheelchair you have no access. Walked in and the first thing I see is two staff members sat on each other’s knee?? I instantly knew I wasn’t going to like it here. Place was huge, which is good so they have a large range of stock. The fish tanks were clean, no tiny betta cubes which is nice although that’s why I was there. The bettas are so hard to find, I couldn’t tell if they had none or if they were just hiding. I only saw 2. I did feel uneasy in the shop, it was eerily silent. It could do with a radio contented to speakers or something. Parking is impossible as well. I had to park on a dodgy back ally which I wasn’t best pleased about. 2 stars since the aquariums are clean and bettas have space to swim.
This place clearly had potential but just seems really old and dated inside. The broken windows outside don’t really help first impressions. Lots of dry goods for every type of pet but relatively high prices especially on some of the older stock, you can really tell the age due to the sun bleached packaging and water damage. Lots of empty enclosures in the animal section, but the animals do seem healthy thankfully. The fish section downstairs needs a lot of TLC, they did have a few more interesting species like Geogohagus and Dovii, alongside a small marine section but not sure I’d trust buying anything without a quarantine tank at home. Lots of empty tanks aswell. No sign of anyone doing maintenance either. Saw three staff members during my visit and non greeted us, or asked if we were doing okay. Shop clearly has potential but would need a fresh start I feel.
Well, the place looked like it was stuck in the 79's The shelves were almost empty Most of the books looked like they came out of a charity shot The pricing was double that of anywhere else we go for half the amount, Tanks for sale are ridiculous in price and most are dirty, used or chipped. The aquatic area was dirty, every tank was covered in grime both inside and out making it hard to see stock. The apparent reptile area was none existent, And there is no disability access. Oh and the staff stand talking among themselves giving dirty looks at customers wanting to ask questions. If I could give it less than 1 star I would I will not only be boycotting this place but I shall be reporting them to the RSPCA for the way they keep fish in filth, overcrowding and some fish so large they should be in tanks almost 10 times the size
Please do not buy your fish from here! The quality of their tanks and poor, resulting in the bad health of their fish. I recently bought some clown loaches from here and I noticed one with white spots but I overlooked it as I knew nothing about this parasite. However, I quarantined them be on the safe side. When i introduced them to my tank, within a few days all my fish were infected with white spot ich parasite. I have lost three of my fish even after treatment so please do not buy from here as the health of their fish are so dire and affected my healthy tank. Really sad to see the fish I have had for years pass away due to the carelessness of the quality of the tanks at the store. I really wouldn’t recommend them.
Came here to buy a marine aquarium. Was told by the man downstairs I shouldn't buy one due to the energy crisis. I purchased one elsewhere. Came back 4 months later to pick up accessories. The guys upstairs were helpful. Unfortunately the man downstairs huffed when we asked for service and told us to wait. Again I refused to buy from him. Never have I seen such a poor excuse in a customer facing role. After 20 odd years of using this shop I will no longer return. Not only did they lose around £2000 in sales but also a handful of customers. There are plenty of pet stores around Leeds who are happy to help and actually want to sell goods to their customers. Its just a shame one bad apple has damaged their business.
WORST PLACE IVE EVER BEEN TO! 2 really really bad experiences. 1st of all 4 months ago my partner bought me a baby bearded dragon. We had a full vivarium set up at home what we thought was perfect and the day later we went to purchase the dragon. I choose the one that I wanted and brought him home and was super happy! 3 months down the line my beardie is suffering from vitamin D deficiency due to the lack of information I did not receive. 2nd of all ive had a a fish tank for 3 years! Filled with happy healthy fish. I bought 2 goldfish a commit and a fantail VERY CHEAPLY PRICED now 2 weeks later ALL my fish are suffering with white spot disease and even my loach that’s I’ve had for over 4 years!
Good range of products but the fish are not well looked after. Dead fish in tanks that had obviously been left for a while. I saw evidence of white spot in a few tank yet these fish were still for sale. I had previously bought 4 rummy nose tetras from them who looked healthy only to develop white spot that killed all of them and spread to all my other fish who thankfully survied. One lad working within the fish department is more interested in his phone than looking after the fish or customers service as shown on every visit I have made. I do wonder how the livestock are allowed to be sold from this shop. Find someone where else to shop don't fund this poor establishment!
Went today with my sister, I bought an aquarium rock and some live plants for my tank. Both reasonable prices and great quality. My sister bought a corn snake and vivarium, the guy was very informative, snake came with a full feed and shedding diary from hatch date to today. Snake very tame and in well condition as were all the other animals we saw in the store. Fish tanks were not dirty like in some of the reviews we read before going and the place didn't smell like mould at all. The only thing that was true was the smashed windows but there is a problem with vandals in armley but the place is secure and reasonable presented for the area.
I would never go to this store again - or recommend them to anyone!! They Dropped one of my tetras when getting it out of the tank - which has now lost its tail - the assistant told me it was fine when he picked it up off the floor! Felt sorry for the tetra so still took it home - he is alive but without a tail! The 2 angels fish i bought on the same day both have white spot - one has died within 6 days! I think they need to look at their staff and their hygiene of the tanks and sort both out!! Very angry - beyond words! I did not want to give them even one star - but it would not let me post this without marking one!!!
Has the worst staff possible. Rude, arrogant and downright impolite. Don't get me wrong the stock they do have is not that bad but why bother going to a place when the staff act like total a-holes. Get better staff, get rid of the attitudes and get rid of the fat guy with black hair and glasses that sits his fat arse on the laptop at the counter. Snide comments at customers asking simple questions is just so childish, especially if other customers can overhear you! Don't know who the owner of this establishment is but it definitely requires a new set of staff. Thanks!
Came in here for some books about looking after lizards for a mates birthday Book was quite good actually but I was intrigued by the birds section so thought I’d have a look... long story short I bought a couple of finches. Never had a bird in my life before and didn’t know they needed a cage and food etc... one of them got out in the garden and the other one... I think it’s bloody possessed or something, kept lying at me head and it even tried to nick a couple of peas from my plate, I was fuming!! Tried to take it back but it flew off in the bloody car park.
Nothing at all like pets at home. The shop is run down and looks a dump inside. The staff looked put out when I had the audacity to interrupt their conversation about a couple workers sexual exploits the previous evening by requesting to be served after patiently waiting several minutes. I then had to look confused when my 6yr old son innocently asked what a s**tbox was on the way home as he had clearly heard as much of the conversation as I had. If it wasn't for the fact my rabbit will only eat the fruity mix food from this shop I would never return.
I wondered why my other half called it dying world, well i had to think nowhere could be as bad as described. How wrong was i. Aquatic plants covered in algae and snails. So so many tanks and fish space. But none of it is clean and some parts look beyond dangerous. Upstairs the dust on the book shelf is enough to give you an asthmatic attack, without having asthma. In dire need of a make over, if the right people got hold of this place. It has enough tanks and space to be the best aquatics in yorkshire. Sadly its managed completely wrongly.
Absolutely disgusting place. Windows all smashed in, mould everywhere including carpets and for sale tanks. The smell of mould and animal urine was very strong. The aquarium area was dark and falling apart. Tanks were filthy and the man was very unfriendly. Upstairs, no member or staff spoke to you or seemed interested, just stood on their phones. The live animal room was covered in webs, mould and dirty enclosures. Sad looking animals. Very high prices and I don't think I'll ever step foot in there again.. I could not leave fast enough.
I visited yesterday after reading not the best reviews I was very very impressed. I am an experienced fish keeper and I was looking to purchase some lake Tanganyikan fish for my tank. All the tanks were clean no dead fish and the fish very healthy. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I bought two different lake Tanganyikan fish one I have never seen anywhere else before . Not overpriced either. Don’t let the reviews put you off I will be visiting again in the future. Excellent prices on dry goods too. 5⭐️
Absolutely hideous excuse of a pet shop. How they make a penny is beyond me. Walked in ready to spend some serious money on a fish tank for my salon and the muppet sat on his phone with air pods in couldn't even be arsed to get off his backside and literally wouldn't move. I insisted I had a tank ready to go and I needed indicating which fish would be OK in a 400L cycled cold-water tank and he was just hideous. Walked out. So so rude. He will single handedly send you under, him and the unbelievable stench.
This place is nice when your looking round for an animal, fish or reptiles. But I bought a2 snakes and ornaments to go with them. I spent a total of 260pounds but i had to take 2 ornaments back as they were to large plus the snakes didn't get on. I took them both back 2 days later and they wouldn't refund the money for the ornaments even with receipt and the snake i offered back for free and they wouldn't take it back at all. And they were rude in the process. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SHOP!!!
This store has been there for many years. When I had purchased what I wanted today. No improvements had been made, the outside area is very obismal not at all impressive. I can understand that they may be very quiet due to the current circumstances in this country but I feel that more of an effort should be made. To show that the owners are truly concerned about the outside of their shop that looks completely derelict. No repairs made and broken windows that have been like that for over a year.
I would agree with some of the comments her yes the furry animals do smell n I do agree a dog food bowl overflowing with food is not a good look. The birds are very noisy. The store in general looks run down. But on the other hand loads of fish and we have never had a problem with anything we have bought here. Some if the staff are knowledge more than others but not everyone can know everything. But maybe instead of trying to blag it maybe say I will get someone who can tell you better than me.
Bought fish from here, after two days of having the fish all my own fish started dying, took the fish I purchased from here to a fish shop and they told me they were Ill and had dropsy. All my own fish in my well established tank died, it had been set up for years and I've never had an issue Now questions are asked if they even quarentine the incoming fish stock or if they just chuck them in with the others and sell them. Awful awful awful! Would NOT buy fish from there!
The shop looks empty with lots of spare space on the aisles. The animal care is questionable with excessive over feeding to the point the bowels were overflowing with food. Little to no enrichment in any of the cages for the small animals. Iguana with stuck shed on its head looked like it was stressed out trying to get it off. Snakes and geckos looked okay as well as the fish. No visibly dead fish but the store in general is in need of some desperate TLC
Was slightly reluctant after reading some reviews but was very pleased with everything about the visit. Friendly, polite staff welcomed me to the store and directed me to the animals. All enclosures were clean and well stocked with good variety of healthy looking well cared for animals. Had a good chat to the lady looking after them who could tell me their ages and exactly were they had been sourced. No complaints at all. Would visit again anytime.
Okay prices for accessories/food but I personally wouldn't fund such a setup. Rodents/rabbits and such looked so miserable, enclosures not fit for purpose (rat 'tanks' specifically). Overflowing food bowls and giant water bottles for such small creatures suggesting they're never interacted with and just left there. I'd take everything if I could but I wouldn't want to fund such a setup! So sad - came out of the shop with a tear in my eye
Don't buy fish from here!! Bought 2 German blue rams and some emperor tetras less than 2 weeks ago. Noticed when put in my tank that the rams had a few white spots, one died within a day the other 4 days later. After 6 days of treating for white spot I now have had 12 dead fish !!! My tank is an established tank of 5 years and water perimeters are fine. Pet and aquatic world would take no responsibility and were rude when we rang them !!
Absolutely briliant!!!! We went there with idea to get some fish but after spending an hour in store meeting all pets we fell in love with most beautiful bird ever (green cheek conure). Lady looking after all birds was mega helpful and spent a long time with us going through all bird characteristics, helping us choose right one for us! We couldnt be more happy with the store, staff, service and of Course our new pet Zumba
This place seems to be stuck in the 90's. The stock seems to be from that era too. They're doing their best with the space I guess but they don't have the stock, marketing, decor or even facilities to seem very modern or value for money. Their aesthetic works in the sense that you want to adopt and take away all the animals there so they're away from the building itself. Prices are generic and you can get much better online.
Giving 4 stars as the female hamster I bought from here under 2 weeks ago is healthy and tame and i love her.... however she is now heavily pregnant and only a baby herself, I can't blame the store for this as clearly the babies they got in weren't separated when they should have been, female hamsters can get pregnant from 4 weeks so I know this isn't the shops fault and the hamsters do have space and are looked after here.
Staff not particuarly friendly, despite not being at all busy staff just stood around talking to each other and didn't acknowledge the existence of any of the few customers that were in the store at the time. Big range of fish downstairs but when I went to the store a few of the tanks water was so murky I just did a u-turn and left. Really big range of equipment upstairs, buy not sure if I would use them tbh.
We have been buying our fish here for 13years, I have moved area now but still drive up to purchase my fish here. They really can’t be beaten in terms of stock, price and the variety. I’ve never had issues with the fish I have purchased, they’ve always been happy to check my water for me and give advice. As other reviews have said the building is run down and access isn’t good but the advice/stock is great.
The best description of this store would be"comprehensive". Downstairs there is an outstanding selection of fish and plants, the staff are knowledgeable and the prices are relatively low. I can't comment on the condition of the fish, but they all looked healthy. The decor is worn, but I would much rather that they concentrate on quailty stock. I will definitely be going back to this shop in the future.
I've had 0 problems with them. The staff are 100% polite and very educated in all matters of means also have a wide selection of everything to pets and aquatics. They are also have very good prices especially on fish that are not so common in the hobby for example there beautiful silver Asian Arrawana whick is a very beautiful specimen. Overall this is by far the cleanest, best pet shop around Leeds!
The customer service is shocking I rang yesterday and asked for a price on fx4 external filter and was told £231 to go today and find the not £231 the £248 I never believed what I have heard about pet and aquatic world has I say shocking to leave me on the phone while he went to go check and still told me wrong price I will not be going back there and will not be recommending them any more
There is know access for disable people. There is a lift at other end of the that the landlord has blocked off and disabled. Being a disable person it's disgusting that I had to try and climb all the steps at the front which is disgusting in this age. Where there should be access for all disabled people. I should know because I went there last week and had climb all them steps.
The staff were friendly and there were some great products but also they sold critter trails (too small and extremely bad) and wire wheels for hamsters which are dangerous to their feet and limbs Also in the store they were playing adverts and one was talking about cigarettes and there were very young kids in the store. But it still had some great stuff too.
Staff around fish tank area are not friendly. Wanted to buy some fish a few weeks back and a middle aged staff member kept huffing and puffing and rolling his eyes. Iv'e kept fish for years and bought and sold many many fish. Not come across such a miserable staff member. I think I just caught him on on one of the 364/365 bad days he has yearly. Unlucky me.
Doesn't seem like the cleanest of places. Always has bugs on hand which we need for our pet lizard but the bugs usually all die very fast and a lot of times there aren't many in a container at all. Good selection of books about animals though and a good place to buy pet fish. The location of the shop isn't ideal but the size of the shop is pretty good.
Came today and bad experience in the aquatics department. The man who served us was very unfriendly, didn’t let my child choose his goldfish, made no conversation with my son let alone any advice of what to do or ask about our set up at home. I wanted to leave but my little boy was so excited, such a shame customer service skills were zero here.
Came here excited to get things for my new cat which I was bringing home the next day. Pretty poor selection of items. Not to mention a lot of items were thick with dust and some genuinely looked like they'd been there 20+ years. They do have a good selection of pets though, but you might have to go elsewhere to get the things you need for them.
I asked about a certain fish medication and how much to add to a 60ltr tank they said add a teaspoon roughy 5ml when I looked at the bottle said something like 10ml per 800ltrs so teaspoon would have been way too much for my tank and would overdose and kill my fish if I bought it and added that much to my tank I wouldn’t take their advice
i love coming here as the staff are very friendly and i have been coming here over 3 years and non of my fish have died. they give good customer service aswell as being very welcoming. they also give good advice and have top branded equiptement. the best pet and garden world shop in west yorkshire, aswell as good prices :) from nadia
I'm giving the 5 stars as the shop was huge, with a wide variety of products. For all household pets. A few live animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles and different birds. I didn't get to fish as they were downstairs and with the pram, I didn't think it was worth looking at as it wasn't why I was there. Reasonably priced.
Literally just got home after spending my credit note here for exchanging some of my fish. Asked for 18 fish got told he added 2 more to make it to 20. Got home.to only find 10 in the bag.... heard bad things about this place but thought I would make my own mind up about it. trust gone. I'll stick to the other local fish shops.
It's not the best pet shop in Leeds. Bit shoddy on the outside. However, the lad on the counter was happy to help and served me with a smile and a thank you. Yes I'd go back for frozen snake food. The ormiments are a bit expensive, and some look like they may have been there for a while. Worth a visit if you're in the area
The service is great!! Service with a smile and a bit of banter cant go amiss! They have a variety selection of Animals and Accessories that too for reasonable Prices! Helped us with what we needed and gave us information prior the fish we bought! We are their regular customers and u cant go wrong with Pet&GardenWorld!!
Had an appointment in Headingly, as I live in Burnley, just thought I would have a look in on the way home, whilst it's good to see the fish are well looked after, very disappointed with the range of tropicak fish available and accessories for the size of the shop. Just glad I didn't come to specifically to have a look.
Aquarium member of staff downstairs is very miserable not professional at all! Seems like he does not enjoy his job. An absolutely useless person. Went to buy Some goldfish on 02/08/2020 i will DEFINITELY NOT be returning. You need to train your staff on how to be polite and helpful. …
pet shop? more like a time capsule. Products that have sat on the shelves since the 80s with BLACK MOLD growing on them, gross carpets. The whole place smells like an abandoned morgue. Animals kept in dirty enclosures and looking depressed. If i was a fish here i would cry myself to sleep every night.
I visited the store on Saturday and the staff were all standing around talking to each other until I went where the birds are then a member of staff followed me all around as if I was going to knick something I mean I am 66 and on a walking stick I think now it should shut more staff than customers
This shop was kinda weird. It just seemed very dated, I suppose not unlike most pet shops. It was hard to tell whether things were dirty or if they were just old. The containers for the animals all looked of an okay size but I still felt bad for them. Always better to adopt and then not shop!
Very rude almost aggressive staff downstairs in the fish bit. The whole place STINKS of damp and mold. Most products have dust on them. All animals look poorly and depressed. Don't support this place. Don't go here - feel like I've shaved 10 years of my own life in this animal graveyard.
This is a huge pet superstore, it has everything you need BUT, it is so run down. It is in need off a really good clean. However that said I still really enjoy visiting!!! It could be and absolute gold mine, it has ample parking, very reasonable prices and wonderful knowledgeable staff.
It has plenty of animals that are well kept with plenty of guides and lots of accessories to help you look after your animals the best way possible . There is lots of fish and it is all very clean and the staff members are very kind to ensure you get your pet and are very approachable
Not been here for a long time and I can see no difference on the outside asi pass it quite often. We used to call it dying world as most of fish tanks had at least 1deadfish in it..... But I think it might have changed owners.... So you never know... It might be a lot better now.
Very big place, with lots of live stock, tanks and equipment. One of the best specialist stores around. They have all the little things that make all the differences in the hobby, pipe fittings, clips, big tubes of silicon, it's like a real Amazon shop of aquarium staff.
I remember when this was living world many moons ago, I visited to purchase a light for my tortoise and the staff member advised me perfectly on the light requirements I needed. I give it only 4 stars as I also bought some meal worms of which some were already beetles!
Been both times we go up north and this place is ENORMOUS! Other pet stores should follow these guys when it comes to cage size. Picked up our hamster here, all are well fed, clean and tame. Staff know what they're talking about too, which is very refreshing. Thanks!!
The building is incredibly shoddy, the fish tanks were unclean with plenty of dead fish remaining in tanks and the tanks for sale were unclean and/or damaged. Add to this that bizarrely the price of all the retail tanks I checked were actually much cheaper online.
DOSE NOT SMELL LIKE MOLD OR URINE the staff are very helpful and THEY DO LET YOU PICK THE ANIMAL THAT YOU WANT they are bad reviews . I got my budgie from their and he is great also got tips form the staff there witched help me get a bond with him within 6 weeks
I'm being generous giving it 1 star, that's for the fact it's got plenty of stock. But what a dump. Dirty fish tanks. A dumping ground downstairs for stock and boxes alongside the fish. Leaking roof, water dripping onto boxes, mouldy and smelly. A shop to avoid.
I liked it here. Has everything you could want. I could have bought about 5 tanks, lots had discounts on. Staff were helpful. It could do with a tidy up, but I kinda like the old time era feel.... lol I'd def recommend to buy a new tank and I'd go back:)
An absolute eyesore. The pictures online showing both inside and outside are clearly very old as this place is one massive dump. I wouldn’t go back here again even if I have to pay slightly more elsewhere I’d prefer a much cleaner shopping experience.
I got my Rabbit son from there last year I took him to get his cherry's removed at the vets and all the vets was coowing over him and when I went to collect him they said he was very well behaved and a pleasure he's lovely I can't thank them enough
Arrived five minutes before closing. Staff were welcoming and willing to assist. Great environment, welcoming and polite. There’s a wide range of products from fish to snakes, pet care products to electronics for your pet needs. Defiantly recommend
They had cute animals and kind staff members but i couldnt even take one breath in that shop. It smells absolute DISCUSTING. I had to cover my mouth i wouldn’t recommend it for anyone except who wants to smell the DISCUSTING SMELL. …
It was bad years ago, now they've surpassed themselves, it really should be shutdown, the place is dirty, the fish look badly kept, its the only pet shop I know that has fish missing eyes on show. The staff are very nice tho.
Really good. The staff are so good for advice on everything.I always go there. it doesn't look good on the outside as someone had smashed all the windows. But we'll worth going in. But you can't judge a book by it's cover...
This place is in a disgusting state I can't believe it's still up and running I just called in on the of and soon as you go in it's a dump and I went to look at the aquarium side and that's even worse it needs to be closed
I've bought several birds from here my latest last week a cinimon conure. All birds in superb health every time. Conure bought in July 2022 was super hand tame aswel. I recommend these, past reputation has gone in my eyes.
As others have said store is very run down and could do with a good update.A wide variety of products is on offer though although I personally thought a bit pricey. A good selection of animals that looked in good shape.
This place stinks for some reason my pet hamster smells the same don't think they clean the enclosures often, there's only 1 small women working with the pets cleaning doing it all herself i'm not surprised.
Not sure why this place gets so many bad reviews. I have been purchasing stock for years from here. Yes its a bit run down from the outside but it keeps the prices down. Staff very helpful & friendly.
Tanks r dirty..fish look unhappy ..not a place I would buy from..but qss aquatics in bradford best place great place brillent custom ..one of the best in Yorkshire and I've been to alot of fish shops
Two of the three fish I bought died within four days. Less than a week on, two of my previously healthy fish have since died. I suspect that might not be the end of the carnage, either...
Recently started buying my fish from here, all my fish have been healthy! The man who works in the fish department is lovely, really helpful and is very knowledgeable! Love this store❤️
They had what I wanted but the whole place has a seedy run down look and feel to it. It's too big for the amount of stock that they have. Get more stock or reduce the floor area.
Not like it use to be and couldn't find much puppy food or treats . Although the staff was kind and well managed. Think it could do with updating and getting rid of the smell
Staff selling fish didn’t know which fish kribensis fish where Over charged for fish Gave less plants than asked for But charged for full amount Check your items and bill
We got what we needed but the place just feels grimy at the moment. Not sure if any building work is being done or not. Vast array of animal products.
Bought some budgies and the staff there recommend what cage to get and what things were crucial for them. Really kind staff and happy, healthy budgies
Poorly kept animals, sold sick, malnourished, and deformed.. not sure why I mm seeing a single good feedback when this is a nasty place to AVOID!!
I always by my frozen rats from here great choice never a bad batch and i can select my own which is great with a picky ball python
Good place to buy fishes but cannot say for the cleaning of the place. It desperately needs makeovers and a better price systems.
Great place for all your essential supplies , the building could do with a face lift though looking a bit run down these days .
Very knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices, wide range of products. I bought almost everything in my aquarium from this shop
From the outside it does look a bit run down but they do have some good equipment and reasonable prices. Worth a look
I just wish they were a bit busier, good selection my staff. I just feel they're not making the profit they deserve
My friend uses pet Aquatic world I visited him and went with him is got lots to offer and wide range for all pets
Great place, everything you could ever need fir your pet, got a new parrot cage today! Great value too!
Hearing "everybody hurts" on the radio in this store sums the place up. Grimy, dirty and depressing.
Good variety lady helped me get the hamster my daughter wanted very quick and effective xx …
Good variety of pets and accessories although I didn't find what I was looking for this time.
I got a budgie from these guys a few days ago. He's settling in well now. Meet Taurus!
Never seen so many starving skinny fish especially the koi .. very poor …
