I had been thinking about having an aquarium for over a year now and finally had the time to fully dedicate myself to it, so i went to the store for information. A very polite lady helped me and guided me trough the process which I followed meticulously. I bought the aquarium there and after, all the equipment she recomended. I then bought the water treatment necessary and left it to cycle as she recomended. My father has had multiple aquariums his entire life and is very experienced. He accompanied me to the shop to finally buy some fish, as he to understood the aquarium was ready to be populated. As first fish my dad recomended guppies as they are incredibly easy to maintain and addapt to multiple ecological conditions. I approached the staff member and said i wanted to buy some fish. He started asking me loads of questions about the population of fish and conditions i had in the aquarium even though i did not ask for his help. He then refused to sell me the fish as according to him they were very sensitive and i should firts buy another range of products to put in the water to create "bacteria". I said bacteria would develop naturaly and just wanted to buy the fish but he still refused to sell. After spending a lot of money on everything necessary for the aquarium i was not willing to buy any more products. I assumed one of the products the lady recomended would have served that purpose, and bacteria develop normally anyway. I was very excited for it and was going to buy a good amount of fish. Due to these circumnstances, i was extremely disapointed and ended up not buying anything on this shop. He made me feel like i was doing wrong to the fish by not following what he was suggesting. I then went to a different shop which instead of denying and criticising me, offered to help with my progress and sold me the fish. This is the closest shop to my house and i prettended to be a regular costumer and buy a bigger aquarium in the future. That will happen but not from this shop, to which i don't intend to set foot on again, and will not recomend to anyone.

Normally don't have a problem shopping at this store, staff are always polite and very helpful. But the guy dealing with the aquarium side ie fish what an absolute jobsworth he was, so condescending and arrogant. We appreciate they have to check tank size etc, but please, our tank is 3ft 3 inch x 11/2ft x2ft. It is a large tank if he had bothered to check, we are registered there and have bought fish in the past,no problem, but no he was far more interested in belittling us, and boosting his ego. This guy, thought he was the supremo god of fish, saying a tank this size will only hold 2 fish because in 20 years they will out grow it. For goodness sake, do we have to go through the Spanish inquisition just to buy a couple of goldfish. Will not be shopping there again. You don't expect staff to be arguing with you, when you want to purchase a goldfish

I had to make an emergency trip to the store today (Sunday 30th July 2023), because one of my kittens is poorly. I've just moved house and I'm extremely stressed. All the staff I spoke to were absolutely brilliant and lovely, they helped me so, so much. They could clearly see I was not in a good way and they were so kind - I didn't catch everyone's names, there were 4 staff I spoke to, but all were fantastic without exception. The person on the till (Phil) was the only one I caught the name of, but thank you to all of you! <3 You really helped me in my time of need.

I received a phone call last minute from a young lady by the name of Victoria at pets at home to advise my appointment had been changed and was brought forward by one hour. When I got there she was on reception And had the audacity to say I had misheard her and she hadn’t made the call. Absolutely shocking attitude and appauling behaviour with her rolling her eyes and blaming me for coming in early as she had apparently “never said that time”. Would not recommend this place at all, that girl has some serious training issues that need to be addressed immediately.

Very quiet today loads of car spaces 9.45am. Did have to wait nearly an hour with my cat though. They usually run a little late but today was really bad. After 45 min waiting then they told me they had has an emergency so that's why it had pushed everything back. I totally understand I hope that the pet is now on the road to recovery however it would have been good to have told me on arrival. Then I could have done my shopping down stair prior to the appointment. Instead I had to rush and subsequently was late for another appointment booked for 11.15!

Went in Sunday 26th march to get some cat food, when I got to the till I realised I had a voucher if I spent over £45. I asked the guy at the till where the catnip was and he kinda pointed and waved his arm in a general direction, so I went looked and could not find it so I went back and again this greasy haired guy waved his hand in the general direction I had just been, so I went again to look and i couldn’t find it. Anyway I was hoping to buy more items but this guy put me off shopping there, I didn’t even get offered a receipt for my purchase.

My daughter went in to buy a hamster and the staff member dealing with things dropped the hamster with enough force that we weren't sure if he'd broken the poor things back. They then told it's that they needed to get him checked over and, luckily, the poor thing came through with far less serious injuries and they phoned and said that she could still buy him, which was a relief because she really had her heart set on him having already played with him. Unfortunately he now has serious trust issues and bites if you attempt to handle or pet him.

Excellent It is MotherCare for my pooch. He loves calling in & being petted by the staff. I always buy his harness & leads from here & all his little smellys etc!. Lovely for him to be able to have a browse around the rabbits & reptiles. I've lost his concentration a few times only to find he's got his head firmly fixed under shelves trying to retrieve all the balls & toys that have fallen under . Thank you for making this a pleasure to visit Alfie & my family will definitely be back. ❤️

I rang this morning to ask what the return policy is on an opened bag of dog food. (Didn't suit my dog) I was asked to bring the bag down and my online receipt and they would see what they could do. I went down and was immediately attended to.A straight swap over with the dry dog food my dog was used to, I paid the extra £5 and off I went. No proof of purchase even checked. I was very impressed with the service and the ease of swapping an opened bag of food. Well done Kirkstall. 5 stars ☺

I recently bought a hamster for the first time at pets at home kirkstall. I went back today as I was unsure of a few things and had a few questions. Ginger Tom as they said to call him was amazing he gave me all the advice I needed and made me feel less stressed and at ease. Thank you so much for helping me out and giving me the time, help and advice I need. I will be definitely coming back again. I know have a happy hamster

Very friendly store but in my personal opinion the fish section has that ominous franchise vibe to it offering the same fish across different stores with the same layout...could do with a bit of a spruce up but besides from that the staff are really friendly, spoke to a really nice lad there today who is really passionate about the fish there and the homes they potentially go to, shame I forgot his name but he was brilliant!

Manager and staff of Groom Room totally unaware of company policy on refund of deposit. They believe it was at store discretion when company online policy says to the contrary. When I pointed this out, Manager became rude saying she didn't know where I had read that, and as I had been refunded she didn't understand my problem . Wonder how many other customers have been conned out of their deposit. Steer clear

I went to look at guinea pig cages and ended up taking away two adoption guinea pigs. Rose was the person who helped me, she was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. She examined the guinea pigs very thoroughly whilst explaining what she was checking for and also making me aware of what to look out for to keep them in good health. She couldn't have done any more, really pleased with the all staff here.

Pets at home at kirkstall offers more than just a great selection of items for all types of pets (more than you'll ever really need), but also has a number of other services including pet health advice, information and even vet services. The staff are friendly and helpful and will happily go out of their way to ensure you find what you need. Really is everything you need for you pet under one roof.

Staff always really helpful but been tonight and Ryan was amazing. I have 5 cats (almost bought treatment for 6!) and he went through the advantages of all flea treatments and explained the service where they send them monthly he was great. I even got home and forgot to ask something and rang back got Ryan again and he even remembered the name of my cats. Super cannot recommend enough.

The staff here are lovely and helpful. Shopping at Pets at Home can be expensive, but for every product they have a full range- from their own brand through to the luxury brands. Take a few minutes and don't get overwhelmed and you can find what you need at the right price. You can take your pet inside the store, which feels great. But I always spend more when the dog comes with.

Almost fell as I didn't see the bags of dog food on the floor in the middle of the walkway where the staff were emptying the shelves. Staff were too busy giggling and chatting to even flinch when I tripped. Till assistant friendly, offered help getting things to my car, as they always do but overall the store does consistently disappoint with general helpfulness shortfalls.

Super helpful staff, came in with a fixture for a heat bulb that wasn’t working after putting a fresh bulb in, and I was confused wether it was the bulb or the fixture, “ginger James” as he asked me to call him, said he would check my fitting and found out that the fuse had gone and replaced it for me for free, absolutely lovely guy, will return for all my pet needs .

This shop is expensive, and sells some very poor quality products at inflated prices. The upsides are the good knowledge of the staff ( which, however, sometimes seems to make them feel superior to owners), and the willingness to receive feedback. This, I feel, does not justify the pricing. Step next door to Home Bargains, and it's a different story!

Definitely a 5 rating!! Nice shop and pretty big, with a nice variety of pets available (Rabbits + Hamsters + Guinea Pigs + Fish of many varieties + Crickets + Grasshoppers - also plenty of items for other pets they don't sell, such as Cats + Dogs. Certainly worth visiting if you own a pet, as toys are important for all types of pets!!

Usually well stocked and good service. I took a star off as the parking spaces are very narrow. Not worth parking here if it's busy and you have a larger vehicle. Not if you value it anyway! I know several people who have had tickets when they were unable to park between the lines due to other vehicles parking inappropriately

The Staff are always well turned out, knowledgable, polite and helpful. And go the extra mile to be helpful. The store is always clean and presentable, not always easy , where animals are concerned. The store is always well stocked and nicely presented, and is a real credit to the manager. Keep up the good work, Brian.

Nipped down today with my partner who’s recently bought a hamster from here, she was a bit unsure on some stuff but after speaking with “Ginger Tom” she left feeling a lot more relaxed as he answered all her concerns and went out his way to research a couple things for us, couldn’t thank him enough …

James was brilliant. I was anxious visiting the store in Covid times and with a puppy but James put me at ease, listened to my concerns and fitted a harness for my dog. He answered all questions, offered assistance and was genuinely caring and friendly towards me and my dog. Thank you James, it means a lot.

Good range of stock. Went to buy kitten food but seemed to be less options for kittens. Most food available was for cats and dogs. Kittens are just as important but unfortunately not much choice. And if there is, the smaller food packets aren’t available. Only the bigger version which isn’t everyone’s needs

I think some thought needs be taken into consideration to allow customers to book their groom and pay for a deposit online. Its a slow process and time wasting having someone ring you to take a deposit when the majority of us are working. Would definitely be better to be able to do this online

The groom room here is fantastic! I take my German Shepherd/Akita here for a bath and brush. She always comes out looking like a new dog and the ladies here are really good with her. I would definitely recommend. Bath and brush on a weekday is only £15 and they are open evenings.

Been to 3 pets at home in 2 days. Looking for a certain fish (electric blue Ram). Finally found the one I wanted, asked to buy it and got told there's only 2 staff so they can't sell pets. What policy is this? And if so why are you open? Ridiculous. This was at 18:20.

Brilliant for all pet lovers but me personally just like to go have a look around the fish there's plenty off fish to choose from they also sell rabbits lizards and so on they have an upstairs dog grooming and sell just about anything you need for any pet of choice

Although the store is a lovely place the companies delivery / customer service is disgusting, food arriving damaged and / or faulty. I will not be using PAH again. I spent a small fortune every month with them so will find a company who look after their customers.

This store seems to have everything you need and at a decent price. Could do with more staff to help with advice but the advice you get seems to be knowledgeable and polite. Location is good with good parking and plenty of other shops at the same location.

My dog was booked in at the groom room Kirkstall and it was a great experience. The staff were friendly, helpful and my dog looked lovely after her groom and still doesnt 4days after. I would definitely recommend and I will be booking another groom soon

Love pets at home. My personal fave is the postal delivery of flea treatments so I never forget to treat my dogs and cats. Staff are always lovely and I can always find what I need. The prices are just as good as supermarket ones with better choice.

We went here enquiring about some gerbils . I have owned gerbils before and the ones in store looked very close to adults in size although the store assistant assured me they were between 12-15 weeks . We didn't make a purchase today .

Pets at home isn't just a great place to shop for my dog, it's pretty much one of the best shopping experiences I have in my day to day life. The staff are all passionate and knowledgeable - it can't be beat.
